The owners are nice here and you don't feel like they are trying to scam you, which is a plus. They also serviced cars pretty quick. I am giving them a two star for two reasons though. The first is they quoted me 1000 dollars to get a new window motor for my car, while my usual mechanic quoted me 300. Not sure where they are sourcing, but that is an outrageous difference. The second reason is that I took my wife's car in for some standard maintenance, and asked them to check the cars breaks because they were making strange sounds. I was told they didn't find anything wrong with them. 6 months later and here I am at another mechanic who showed me the back two breaks are non-existent and they have been wearing the rotor down severely. By the next day, the brakes were completely repaired -- and to my surprise, he even replaced a dead front headlight bulb for me without charging extra. That kind of service is so rare these days. Ima start by saying I'm clueless with cars lol (sorry to stereotype my gender) and I live about an hour away from family members who know cars and typically take my car for services or fix it at home. I went for an oil change at a different auto spot and was told that my coolant was out and my radiator hose broke so it was a big no no to drive my car...I immediately drove my car here and they were able to immediately take my car in and fix it the same day within 2-3 hours. My walk-in to Star Auto Services was a few weeks ago and I met Sam and Joey who manage the location. They took care of my vehicle and I was in and out within an hour. They area is pleasant as they have seating in the parking lot under trees and umbrellas. I read a book while I waited and could see them working on my car the whole time. I had to do a regular/routine oil change and wanted them to take a look at some other stuff that has been bothering me. Joey even test drove the car for 10 minutes with me to test the issue. He was so awesome! Not only did they conduct the oil change and specific review, they also FOUND AN ISSUE THAT I NEVER EVEN NOTICED! They informed me that my rear shock was leaking and that I should get it fixed ASAP. Thanks to them, I was able to take it to my dealership and got it fixed through warranty. I know it was a big deal too because the dealership kept my car overnight to fix this problem. I didn't even know the part needed to be replaced until they informed me. I had a bad experience driving into OC from Las Vegas but these guys helped me out and really turned a bad thing into a good thing! These guys were great! I wish I remembered their names. The guy that did the work really helped me out by not giving up and also they could have decided to make the work a bigger thing and possibly justified more involved work that would have driven up the price, but they didn't. I broke 2 studs on my rear wheel and instead of removing the drum break to make things easier and more expensive, they miraculously made it work and did the work for the same price they quoted me. They also jumped right on it even though they look so busy and they got me back on the road on the way to my vacation destination. The service was amazing! I went in on a weekday morning and was able to get it all done within 45 minutes. There's a market/plaza across the street where you can kill some time while you wait or you can drop off your car and come back later. Was helped out by Joey who was very welcoming and easy to talk to. I did see that there were a multiple cars around when I went so I thought it would take a lot longer than it did. Only gripe about this place is that it is located in the same lot as a car wash place, so it's convenient if you're looking to get a hand car wash, but not if you're just going for the mechanic. read more

This place is so full of crap my wife purchased a 30 month interstate battery in April 2019 I took the battery to the shop a day earlier than plan. I had the receipt and the owner looked at the battery said it wasn't dead I could jump it. That's a lie I tried it myself and I even got a second opinion because no way in he'll I'm paying for a partial battery charge. Dude was supposed to replace the damn battery wasn't going to cost him anything. I even went to autozone that same day and got a complimentary battery charge turned out it was 5v you need at least 12v to jump a battery. I even left the battery overnight at autozone picked it up mon they left a note on it said dead battery so tell me auto star wtf you give me the runaround. My wife had to go to garden Grove interstate battery and received a new FREE BATTERY REPLACEMENT SHOWN TGE RECEIPT. I popped that battery in her truck good as new so F.U Star Auto wasting our damn time stupid asses. Also this place isn't following protocol owner wasn't wearing a face mask COVID COVID COVID lead by example dude at least one mechanic was trying to help and nice until stupid owner stepped in. Beware of these crooks only reason we did business was a family member car battery went dead 2yrs ago. So this crap shop was next door encountered. Also this place doesn't even keep batteries on stock and will charge $30 for a partial or $$$ for full. Had the nerve to say gotta pay electricity bill the #%ck Autozone is free prick anyway interstate took care of my truck. I have a Tesla Model 3, one thing I HATE is that the tires have this foam and NO ONE wants to patch them when you get a nail. So you have to purchase a new tire! This is so disappointing! The guys at Star Auto said yes! And helped me right away. The removed a small piece of the foam, removed the adhesive patched the hole and got me back On The road again. I am a super-friendly woman and--let's face it--going to a mechanic is often unfairly intimidating for women. But, listen up: these folks were so professional and their prices were so reasonable I felt *completely* comfortable. They are right across the street from a plaza with a Starbucks, a grocery, a Carl's Jr and a Rite Aid, so it was easy to wait there. And then when I walked back early they were great about giving me WiFi to use in their waiting room for the remaining time. This was the best experience I've had at a repair shop, hands down. Be kind, be genuine, be interested in their work (meaning, ask them what's up with your car and how the repair will work) and you will feel ready to decide what you need. Once I week I drive from LA to Irvine for work, and I came in on July 11th because my car had a check engine light on and gave me a notice about over heating. I told them I had been told my thermostat was leaking from a previous examination, and to start with looking there. They called me back later that day confirming it was a thermostat leaking, and that they would need to order the part. I informed them I was only around once a week, so if they could at least top up the coolant before I left, I'd come back the following week for the repair. They had me pay ahead full price before leaving. I came back from LA and went into the office the following week on the 18th, and called Star Auto at 11:30am to see if I should come on over for the repair. The guy on the phone couldn't find the thermostat, so he said he'd call me right back. I called back 3 different times because he wasn't calling me back, but kept being told he couldn't find it anywhere and was waiting for someone else to call him back to figure out what was going on. Finally at 3:25pm, I get a call from them saying that a thermostat came but it was the wrong one so they would need to order a different one. The way this was said sounded like an excuse to cover the fact they forgot to order it.. I said fine, I had no choice, because I already paid $405.70 for it. I came back again on July 25th and called at 9:44am. Again, they could not find the thermostat and I had to wait for another call back from someone else who wasn't there, said I'd get a call back. I did not hear anything, so I called back again at 10:17am, was told to keep waiting. At 11:02am, I received a call that they did have it and to come by. At 1:30pm, I received a call that the car was ready to pick up. I finished up some work then began the walk over. I arrived about an hour later and was told my key was in the car. I walked over to my car which was by the car wash, and the windows were down, the keys were in the cup holder, and the car was left completely on. So for at least an hour after they finished, they left my car completely on and available for anyone to take. Fast forward to August 10th, and the same exact issues are happening to the car. I take it into a different place closer to me, and they quote me my O2 sensor, coolant sensor, and a hose connected that was leaking. So now I'm left wondering if I ever even had a problem with the actual thermostat leaking or if it was just this hose that these other people are solving. So I feel as if I paid $405 for a repair that took them essentially 3 weeks to order and repair, just for the same exact problems to continue happening. Very disappointment in the work and most importantly, the communication they all had with me. read more

Emergency service, I could not drive my car with my infant in the back seat, I knew If didn't get it fixed things can go extremely wrong While I was at work I dropped my car off I was quoted both axels to be done at over $$$ 600+ I got off work and received my car Only to find out 2 weeks later while I was getting my breaks done that only my right side axel was done/completed/fixed. Only to find that I am driving around with my baby in an unsafe vehicle . I called Star auto to make a complaint and was told that I knew only the right side would be done and that I signed a contract. I DId NOT I work very hard my my money to provide for my family I did not argue. I took my L gracefully. I am a woman a single mom and have been taken advantage of at this shop.
