I was a helicopter mechanic for 9 years, and I'm currently a mechanical engineer. Don't go here if you're worried that a mechanic will try to take advantage of you, because this store will if they think they can get away with it. This is what a $125 diagnostic gets you. For anyone that doesn't know, Alldata is just a search engine. I came in with my check engine light on and a P0126 code. I already knew the code, and already knew it was probably my thermostat, I just wanted a more thorough diagnostic. The "report" they gave me is just a printout of Alldata results; a print out of potential causes which I already knew. There's no evidence that anything else was done. When I asked for a diagnostic report, I got a haphazardly printed out search and deer-in-the-headlights look. The three things listed here are basically the thermostat, thermostat housing, and temp sensor. They quoted me at about $1200 to replace all three and do a coolant flush. Here are all the problems I have with that: 1) The code was most likely from either the thermostat or the temp sensor. A multimeter check could have ruled out the temp sensor. A coolant temp reading could have pinpointed the issue. They did neither of those, and instead tried to convince me to replace all three parts because they assumed I didn't know any better. 2) I couldn't figure out why the manager kept over explaining to me that the thermostat and water outlet (ie thermostat housing) were two different parts. Yes, I know that.... Then I realized it's because he was trying to charge me double the labor hours. He was trying to charge me labor hours for replacing the thermostat, and then charge me again for replacing the housing - the part you have to remove to get to the thermostat. He was over explaining because he knew what he was doing was disingenuous. I can replace the thermostat myself, but was willing to pay to have it done because I don't have much spare time at the moment; all they had to do to earn my business was treat me with respect and perform the diagnostic that I paid for. Instead, they phoned in the service and then took every available opportunity to squeeze money out of me, both through unnecessary work and through double charging me labor hours because they thought I didn't understand the next higher assembly structure. We all know that chain mechanics are usually a rip off - this is a perfect example of why. How many other people have they charged $1200 to replace a thermostat? This was a really exceedingly simple repair. If they phoned in my diagnostic, I promise you they'll phone in yours too. read more

I bought a Groupon for an oil change for Midas on Ina Rd in Tucson. 1) I made the appointment on line. I was told I would hear back to confirm the appointment. Never happened. So I called and set up the appointment. 2) Had the oil changed. The tech came out and said 'everything looks good except the battery is running REALLY low. We have one in stock and I can throw it in for $299.00. No thanks with the idea that I would shop around for prices. 3). Took the car to another service station. The battery was running at 80%. Tech must have thought I was a dumb blond. Dishonest Disreputable business. DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I ended up replacing the battery to be on the safe side, as we were going on a road trip. It looked like I had a leak in my radiator so I took it over unannounced and Jonathon one of the store managers got me right in. There was no leak and no charge for the inspection. I took my car in on 2/14/25 for an oil change and the next day my car was leaking oil. I called them up and told them and they set an appointment to see what was going on. When I brough it in they stated they could definitely see it was leaking but couldn't tell from where since the oil was everywhere. They stated they cleaned and degreased the areas and wanted me to come back on Friday 2/24/25. When I brought it back in, they stated the leak was coming from a crack in my oil filter housing unit and it would be approx. $600 to repair. I asked how that was all of a sudden cracked and they had no idea. I told them I did not have the money for that and left. Two days later, on Monday, when I was on the freeway, I ran over something with my back tires and looked in my rear-view mirror to see my engine splash guard flipping threw the air landing on the car behind me causing him to crash. I called Midas to notify them of the situation and they had me bring it back in and then tried to lie to me stating all of the bolds were intact which I knew they weren't since when I arrived at Midas, we looked underneath my car and saw all of the front screws were not replaced after the service 2 days prior. I also found out from another repair shop that the damage to my oil filter housing unit was more than likely caused by Midas over torquing when they did my oil change. I highly advise not to have any service here!! As you can see, they have several 1-star reviews and take no accountability for their poor service! Beware. I took my car here on 2/17/25 for an oil change. Turned out my front tires were worn on the inside and needed to be replaced and an alignment done. Great, they did the oil change, replaced my front tires, tried to do the alignment. But I had to bring it back 2/18 to have the alignment done again. Not a big deal I understand alignments are a pain and may need adjusting a few times before it is right. I left for Mexico on 2/19 and came back 2/23. Had my car detailed that afternoon and the men who detailed my car noticed the damage to my rims. I know I didn't hit anything let alone hard enough to cause that damage and on both front and passenger (front) wheels. So I went back to this location and they agreed the damage was done by them, they would get it repaired. Ok cool. It will be repaired and we are good to go. Although pretty annoying that they never once mentioned the damage when I got the tires put on the previous week. The damage is noticeable, there is no way they didn't see it when putting my wheels back on. I assume they were just hoping I wouldn't see it or would think the damage was there prior to the new tires. I get stuff happens but they made no attempt to tell me at all. Brought my car back and dropped it off on 2/26. They were going to take it to NuWheel for the repairs. I'm a mom and live in the middle of no mans land, so I need a vehicle to get my kid to school in the morning. I got a rental out of my own pocket from Wednesday-Friday. Friday 2/28 Jeremy calls me to let me know that NuWheel didn't fix my rims but he picked them up and would put them back on my car so I could have my car back until they could get the rims in somewhere to be fixed. Not a big deal, but annoying. I would need a rental again so I asked them to cover the rental since this obviously was their error. Why should I have to come out of pocket for a rental when they are the ones who caused the issue? He said he would need to get it approved and would call me Saturday. No call Saturday. I called Monday 3/3, they didn't answer. I was busy Tuesday and didn't call but they also did not call me. Wednesday morning of 3/4 I called and again, no answer. So I drove there. Jeremy says hes looking for a place that can do the repair in 2-3 days and will let me know. I ask about the rental and he says he needs to find a place first and then will request approval. At this point my dad says to file a complaint with corporate so its on file, so I called and filed a complaint. Jeremy calls me a little bit later, he received the complaint and wants to know if I had questions regarding what we had talked about, I said no I filed the complaint because my dad told me to do it. He then tells me they will no longer cover the rental and will let me know when they have found somewhere to fix my rims. Now I have chosen to just purchase new rims for my car rather than deal with this company and location. I cannot be without a vehicle for 3 days and refuse to pay out of pocket again when they are the ones who caused the damage to begin with. I went to Midas and was given a list of what needed to be repaired in my front end. I found their price to be ridiculous so I had everything on the list repaired somewhere else. Today I went to get the front aligned and they said there were more problems. This is after they already told me what was needed and I fixed it before going for the alignment. Can you say rip off. I wonder if I have that fixed if they would find something else. Price for repair at their shop was double what I paid. The tires were worn a little on the edge so they used that as an excuse to skip the rotation. Just for fun go ahead and go there and see how much they try and rip you off for. read more

Jeremy contacted me and fixed the windshield wiper fluid that wouldn't spray because they had left the resevoir cap open. They took it all apart and after several hours they tried to order a new pump. Luckily, they couldn't find the right pump and I told them to just put everything back together. So they did and miraculously, it worked. Something must have been clogged up because they didn't cap the resevoir. I only wasted about 4 hours. read more

I brought my car in for just an oil change and ended up spending almost $1400.00 dollars to fix everything this place said was wrong with my car. only to pick up my car completely damaged!! I was first told my a/c was perfect and there was nothing wrong with it, just needed a recharge. Paid for the recharge and a ton of other stuff they said the car needed and driving away my compressor didnt even work. Drove all the way home with now no working air conditioning. As soon as my husband got home he opened the hood and found fluid sprayed all over the engine, he found our brush guard to the engine had been broken, the fluids that were supposed to be changed were still the old ones, and our entire car had grease hands all over!! Our car mats also were now ruined and stained with grease and oil! So we take the car back in and to our shock are now told it will cost another $1800.00 to now fix the compressor that they broke!!!! I took my 1998 Tacoma truck in for a basic oil change early January. I was upsold to a higher quality oil change and full service package. Fair enough. I agreed to it. I did not have an appointment. I was stuck there for 2 hours after they opened while they brought to my attention a safety issue with my ball joints. I did not appreciate how I was talked down to as a woman. I worked on cars as a teen with my father so I'm not an idiot. I finally got tired of worst case scenario scare tactics and waiting forever and just gave in as a helpless damsel that I would have to speak to my husband about a further work up to the tune of $1,992!!! What really ticks me off is that they failed to notice that my coolant was extremely low. My truck started overheating less than a month later. I caught it in time and was able to rectify the problem myself. I question that Midas actually checked the fluid levels because my reservoir was dry! I almost burnt up my engine! I'm paying for a service that I do not want to do myself!! I will NEVER recommend Midas on Ina road. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could because I have had it with this place. I usually bring my car here for an oil change, never had issues prior. This time, I needed my full synthetic oil change, new brakes, and my engine air filter replaced; which I now regret getting replaced. I have had to go there the past 3 Wednesdays in a row for them to correct an error they caused yet it is not getting corrected. I ended up having $2300 worth of work done on my car that they recommended and left with my check engine and tire pressure light on, which weren't on before I took my car there and each time I go for them to "try" to get the indicators off, I leave and they pop right back on so it's just been a complete waste of my time. I feel totally taken advantage of and now I have to go pay another auto shop to fix their mistake because they now expect me to pay another $400 for a MAF & MAP sensor that WERE TOTALLY FINE before I went there. DO NOT GO HERE. My friends husband also had to get rid of his truck because they messed it up so bad. read more

I really liked this midas, because the guys here were very helpful, and they didn't pressure me into getting more than my oil changed. Im so used to getting pressured into getting more than my oil changed when I go to jiffy lube. This place is definitely better for that. Also, one guy did tell me what I needed to get, and what he suggested me to get other than my oil changed , but he wasn't going to force me to get them. I also needed to get a drain plug replaced, and that was free and very fast. One more thing, the guy helping me, told me that he was going to try and help me save money whenever he could! I purchased a full service oil change via Groupon. I brought my own oil and requested they simply change the oil and filter and that I didn't need the rest of the services. Once on the rack, I noticed the technician banging on the oil filler plug to tighten it (as opposed to using a torque wrench and tightening via specifications). The technician didn't re-lift the vehicle to inspect for leaks either once done. Once I got home I noticed a large puddle of oil developing on the driveway. I took it back after adding a quart of oil and asked them to have a look. The oil pan was cracked due to the technician banging on the oil filler plug (the crack was directly adjacent to the filler plug). Me: you need to fix this for me free of cost Midas employee: you need to pay for parts we will cover labor Me: absolutely not, you guys broke it, you must fix it, why should I pay for labor when your staff broke my oil pan Midas employee: Okay we'll pay for parts, you pay labor, so he gave me an appointment. Me: I show up to collect the oil-pan and gasket and was going to do it myself because I didn't feel comfortable having one of their technicians replacing it. If they over torque, it would strip the block and I'd need to replace the whole engine. Midas employee: we cant give the parts our manager will be here tomorrow Me: You guys are giving me the run around, like I have a car and time to come talk to someone daily. My appointment was to get the pan and gasket today not tomorrow. Midas employee: had nothing to say and gave a card, for attorney purposes All I expected was, sure Sir, here are the parts, just sign this receipt that we are officially not liable and have completed our obligation at least half way. I got no such response or apology. Apology for having to pay for an unexpected expense for no reason, going back and forth to Midas three times, not having a car for all of that time and the time it takes to get it back up and running again and the drama of dealing with a crooked business and having to take the time to write this to inform people so they can avoid dealing with what I dealt with. In the end, Midas has a business slogan of (Auto Service Experts) but they failed to do the most basic oil change without breaking my vehicles aluminum oil pan. As for customer service: any small or franchise business should repair and replace a customer's broken property when they break it or are responsible for a mistake. Further, they should be honorable with customers so as to retain repeat and future business of new customers. I went for a simple oil change that will cost me $850 dollars in the end and not having a car for a week. I would never advise a single person to give their business to a corrupt company that doesn't value the honor system of (you break it, you own up to it, you fix it and you pay for the cost) Do not trust your car with Midas for any repair or oil change. read more

Came here for a problem I've had with my car for a little while but desperately had to get fixed as of recent (before I got stuck on the side of the road!). Both the engine light and maintenance light was on, stalling out at intersections, etc. At first, they quoted me about $820 since they needed a special part, go figure...ok fine, I really need this done so I agreed. Next day I come in to drop it off and it rings up $950 (cause they forgot to add the taxes and fees or something??) but I had no choice, I needed it fixed. I pick it up later that day and half way home, the maintenance light comes back on and almost stalls out on me at a red light (same problem I was having before it got "fixed"). Thought maybe they just forgot to turn the lights off. Nope, next day, the light comes on again and I'm having the same problems. Will def be taking it back in but my advice...SHOP AROUND!!!! Do not get desperate like me and just cave to their services. Couldn't help to think I was nickeled and dimed for a service that didn't fix the problem. If they try to quote me even more money when I return to "fix" it again, I will take it elsewhere. The one star is simply the fact that they were at least nice people. UPDATE: went back in since the light went back on. They said "oh it probably just needs an oil change" and I insisted that was not the issue. They took a look (longer than the 5 min they spend the first time around) and turns out there was a completely different problem (which I insisted was the problem in the first place and even had in run on a computer at Autozone and showed them the codes but obviously they disregarded that). Quoted me another $350 (took off a labor charge which was nice but I still just spent $950 for a problem that wasn't even there!) and I declined and said I was going to shop elsewhere. He then said he'd take another $50 (how do you just take $50 off?) and I declined again and asked for the print out of what was wrong with the car and he said he couldn't give it to me. So, I left, looked up the part needed and it costs $100...needless to say I'll either take it somewhere else or fix it myself at this point :/ read more

This is the second time they've tried to rip off someone in the family. First time, tried to charge my daughter $900 to fix a broken headlight...car wasn't worth that much to begin with. Then today, another daughter took car in for oil change, said it would be an hour. 2-3 go by and they call and say, we think we found THE issue with your car...she say's, I brought it in for an oil change...no other issues. They then try to up sell her for synthetic oil which her car doesn't require..tell her the tires are worn..they're not..the battery is bad...I don't know, I haven't seen all the paperwork to see if they actually tested it so I will cut them slack on that. CUSTOMERS BEWARE!! (updated below) My first experience with Midas will be my last. I have never been treated so unprofessionally, unethically and unfairly; from the corporate to the franchise to the management down to the employee level. I had my radiator and radiator hoses replaced on my 2004 Infiniti on Saturday, April 9th at the Midas on Ina in Tucson. The next day while on my way to a very important sports function with my job, my car overheats to my dismay, getting to the hottest it has ever reached. I pulled over and observed antifreeze leaking from the new lower radiator hose rubbing against the AC compressor pulley that spliced the hose. I incurred unnecessarily a $135 towing fee and a $165 rental car fee due to Midas's faulty workmanship. It's no wonder why this happened from what I observed during the install. In all my years of automotive, I've never seen a mechanic leave a funnel in the uncapped radiator while revving the engine to warm it up. It looked like a green "Old Faithful" geyser of antifreeze dousing my car and engine. Even the trained mechanic asked the apparent inexperienced mechanic what he was doing. Needless to say, my engine smells like antifreeze everytime I drive the car. I could go on what else I observed but I'll spare you the details. After work on Monday the 11th, I spoke in person to Jeremy, the manager, and shared what I observed about his mechanic. Jeremy blamed it on an incorrect radiator hose installed. I then questioned him why an incorrect part was installed and why was my car released with the hose rubbing against the pulley. He had no response. I told him there would be reimbursement of expenses incurred and consideration given for faulty workmanship and for my troubles especially missing a work function. Jeremy agreed and even proposed a brake job I was needing as part of the consideration. We negotiated the consideration given would be a rear brake job and transmission service to be completed the following Wednesday the 20th. I presented the towing and rental car receipts for reimbursement. Due to privacy laws, I was unable to record the conversation but wish I could have. When I called the following Monday the 18th to confirm my Wednesday appointment and inquire about my reimbursement, Jeremy accused me of extortion and told me he was only going to honor either the reimbursement or consideration but not both. Jeremy proceeded to admit he didn't remember what we agreed regarding reimbursement AND compensation. It gets better (or rather, worse for me). While all this is happening, I'm on my 4th request for corporate and on my 2nd request for the franchise owner to call me regarding this matter. No calls so now you know why I feel treated unprofessionally at these levels. After being accused of extortion by management, I wanted no part of Midas and this location that lacks integrity that I told Jeremy to have my reimbursement ready on Thursday the 20th. I show up and he's not working and no check for me. He is contacted by phone and then the runaround starts. I'm told to call Jeremy on Friday as we are all waiting for Accounting to cut the check. I spoke to Jeremy on Friday and Saturday and was told both times it's still in Accounting. Jeremy promised to call me by 10AM Monday the 25th and did only to tell me Accounting denied the reimbursement. Basically, the franchise owner denied the reimbursement and still has yet to call. Unbelievable! UPDATE: To the owner; you had every chance to rectify this situation before it came to this. I'm not surprised by your canned response. read more

My name is Jerry Palacios and on 1/24/2022 I brought my wife's car, a 2008 Ford Edge SEL, into your store for an assessment of noises that the front suspension was making. After your inspection I was informed by Cori, that the front strut assemblies and struts required replacement and would also require a front alignment as well. I was given a total of 1000.00 and I agreed, and they proceeded with the work. I arrived to pick up the vehicle at closing the next day after I was informed it was completed just before closing. When I arrived, I noticed that some welding was being done on the passenger side of the strut assembly. When I inquired as to what the welding was, I was told by Jeremy Morrow( tha manager), it was a rod or something that broke during the work and was being replaced at no additional charge to me. I paid the bill and my father-in-law was to wait for the vehicle and drive it home when it was done. The next day I noticed the steering wheel was misaligned and should have been corrected at time of the alignment service. I called and spoke with Cori and made an appointment for the following Monday the 31st for the repair. On Wednesday the 26th at approximately 3 pm my wife calls me and is frantically trying to explain that the front wheel assembly on the passenger side of the car had come apart. She was on the freeway on ramp and the car stopped and she thought she blew out a tire. After I arrived where my wife was with the vehicle I noticed as she had said the wheel assembly had broken. I called Midas and spoke to Jeremy, and he dispatched a tow truck to the location. I took several photos of the broken assembly and the condition of the side of the car where it impacted the body. The car was taken to Midas and arrived shortly before I did. When I arrived, I spoke with Jeremy, and he told me he would inspect it and let me know what he found. When he called me to inform me that the "Axle" had broken on that side and that they would "take care" of it and let me know when it was done. When I picked up the car at closing the next day, I was told by Cori, they replaced both axles. Although when I asked about seeing the "broken" parts, he stated they were disposed of. After arriving at my destination, I realized they had not straightened the steering wheel and that the passenger door would rub on the fender and could not be fully opened. I called and spoke to Cori and informed him of both items. My wife let me know the car was still making a funny noise. I had a friend look under the car, and he told me there was a loose hose hanging there and that there was a fresh weld that had been painted recently but was on the frame of the vehicle. At that time, I decided to have a different collision center look at the work and give me an assessment of the work as well as an estimate to repair the damage to the body from the strut assembly hitting it. I dropped my car off at National Auto Collision at 1931 W Grant road on Monday the 31st of January. I received a report and estimate on February 2. The report stated that they cut a hole in the front assembly cradle, which is a structural part considered a sub frame assembly to complete the work initially done on January 24th. They provided a statement in which they feel that what Midas did was weaken the structural integrity of the cradle and the preferred procedure would have been to replace the cradle. In their statement they also noted the car is safe to drive as long as it does not go on the freeway or is being used for trips out of town. These observations troubled me. I went back to Midas with the estimate in hand and spoke with Jeremy about what had transpired up to that point. He told me the cost of a new cradle would have been more money than just cutting a hole and welding it. My response was," I should have been given the opportunity to have made that choice if I had been told it would compromise the integrity of the car frame assembly and I wasn't". I went into on Saturday to let him know I wanted his shop to pay for the repairs on the car so that National could fix it. I followed up that visit on Monday 7 by letting him know to contact whomever he needed to, to make this happen. It is my belief that the shortcut they took or some failure on their part to correctly reassemble the car before it was given to me was responsible the car breaking on Wednesday the 26th. After they refused to pay for the repair, we paid National to repair their damage of the cradle at the tune of 1025.00 The fact that my wife had traveled that freeway twice that day and she was in the process of entering the freeway the third time when it happened was a miracle. I am suing them in court and they refuse to accept the certified papers and stand in court and defend their work. The owner Chris Conforti hides in the shadows while his stores do shoddy work and cannot be held responsible. They also refused to accept a summons from me to face them in court. Well , if I could rate them lower than a one star, I would. If you are on your way there now, keep driving to the nearest quick loan store or just keep driving. I took my Chevy HHR into this shop on my way to work because my engine light came on during my travel. I asked for a diagnostic test because it seemed like a simple repair. They told me I would have to leave the vehicle because they were busy. I understood. They were busy and I went to rent a car. I get a call at work 5 hours later saying they needed to perform more diagnostic tests on my vehicle because they couldn't figure out what was wrong. This caused me great pause. I called back to ask them to just change the battery and change the oil with the intention to take my vehicle elsewhere to be diagnosed and left it overnight to see what the results of the $75 diagnostic repair were. I get a call at work the next morning informing me of the list of issues with my vehicle, including a new throttle body, torn air duct, spark plugs, coils and on and on. I asked what the costs of the repairs were because I was skeptical. The guy on the phone quotes me $1,800. After picking up my phone from the ground, I told them to shut the hood and I was going for a second opinion. When my wife went to pay the bill they were attempting to charge her $454 for an oil change, a battery an three diagnostic tests. When my wife questioned why they had to perform three diagnostic tests they had no good answer other than saying I had approved them. They were trying to charge me $85 for each diagnostic test. I guess one diagnostic check wasn't good enough for them to diagnose an engine light. Adding insult to injury, I go to pick up my vehicle after work in an empty parking lot, after they were closed and find my vehicle unlocked. Total incompetence or their part or their way of trying to punish me for taking my car elsewhere? I will never know but you be the judge. I took my car to Fletchers on Thornydale the next morning. They informed me that they could do the same work for $954. When I showed the mechanic the bill and results of their diagnostic check she just shook her head. She informed me that you do not need a diagnostic test on an HHR. She said all you need to do on this vehicle is perform a computer reset and the information from the reset will tell you what is wrong. I don't complain and I don't write reviews. I do not begrudge a business for making money for providing a service. I do find it insulting when businesses insult my intelligence and appear to take advantage of people to line their pockets. I just want to prevent whoever reads this review to avoid the fleecing and shake down I received from this Brakemax. I fear they feed on the vehicle ignorant to pad their bottom line. read more

Disappointed in the service managers rude demeanor. Talked down to me to sell me more then I asked for. This place used to have great service! I don't know what happened. Sad to see things go down hill. Since posting this comment the corporate and district manager has called me they did not ask me to remove my comment but they were doublechecking the see of it was legitimate. Which it is! read more

We got scammed here. We bought a Groupon for $20 for an oil change wit the understanding what there would be an up charge for synthetic oil. So we expected to walk in having paid $20 already to pay another $20-30, still being cheaper than the full priced $80 service. Well these scammers behind the counter decided that they would charge us the full price for a synthetic oil change, then make a $20 discount for the Groupon. We walked out paying $64 and change, on top of paying for the group on. All in all, the only deal we got was not paying for the "environmental taxed." Wow. Thanks Midas. Groupon is supposed to be a way to earn repeat customers, take a hit in the beginning, wow them with your service, make a customer for life. Midas' golden touch turned our sentiments to stone. Update. Midas contacted. They still didn't see how paying $20 on a groupon to get $20 off of the service wasn't a good deal. All in all we saved $6 off of a full priced service after buying a $20 groupon. If we knew we'd only be saving $6, we'd have shopped around for a better deal elsewhere. Double fail Midas. read more
