Regretfully made my dad go to Midas for me using a coupon to get the full synthetic oil change + tire rotation for $89.99. After the service was done, my dad left our other car there for the same service while he drove my car away for an errand and soon noticed...my car's tires were NOT rotated! So he went back and told the mechanic this and the mechanic said he "forgot" to rotate them. Okay, whatever, my dad can dismiss 1 mistake. Then my dad drives away & notices that there is something wrong with the way the car is driving and smells. He pops open the lid and oil is everywhere, all over the engine. My dad drives back and asks why and the same mechanic says he "forgot" to put the oil cap back on!! To fix this issue, he did spent ~45 cleaning it up, but my goodness. There is now oil on my driveway, and my dad spent 6 HOURS of his day at Midas because of two major mistakes. I have been in search for a place that I can trust to diagnose my car brakes. From the moment I entered this establishment I felt at ease as I was greeted by Jeff the owner. He asked a few questions and had his technician do a test drive and within 20 mins at best he knew exactly what was wrong with my brakes! I had taken my Honda to two different dealers for routine maintenance and every time I heard that nothing was wrong with them. Are you kidding these guys are crooks!! They lied to me several times, I only went back because they were putting in parts that I brought and just charging for labor. They tried to charge me $800 for a fuel pump and my friend replaced it for $25 bucks. Said my brakes needed to be replaced and one of their own guys said I still have half life on the back brakes. They said I needed new transmission fluid and I just put new fluid in myself a few months back! They tried to say my oil filters was on too tight and they would have to break it and replace the housing. I said no and took it to Chevy, they said it wasn't tightened too tight. Crooks!!!! Brought my girlfriends 2012 Edge to get the brakes done. Everyone was very helpful and the service was excellent! Jeff noticed an issue with the brake booster and now the car is at the dealer getting that replaced under warranty. Took about two hours for pads to be replaced and rotors to be turned. Had a horrible experience here 2 days ago. My 2007 Lexus needed an oil change. I saw that Midas had a coupon online for $19.99. Took my car in, showed coupon to manager, he said fine - car will be ready in an hour. Then I get a call saying I needed 2 new filters, and my windshield wipers needed new rubber. I declined this work, because when I asked about the wipers, which just needed new rubber inserts, he told me the cost would be $70.00 which I knew was a rip off. When I went to get the car and pay, he said it would be $58 - I asked why, and he decided to do a synthetic oil change, when I asked for a conventional 20 dollar oil change. I refused to pay for an up sell I did not ask for, he had the mechanic take out the oil and put in regular oil. What a scam, and incredibly shady. I will never go back. read more

I needed a custom system built for my son's '68 Dart. We pulled the original slant-6 and had a local shop swap in a V-8 with headers that were open. I was resigned to utilizing a custom shop to build the system, since I had some experience with Midas in the past at different locations regarding building a custom system. In the past I wasn't happy with what I got,and got used to paying more money at custom shops where they understood hot rods and the owner's objectives. Custom shops aren't always open on Saturday, and this location is. My son voted for this location since he needed his car. I reluctantly agreed. The manager and the exhaust system builder here apparently have been with Midas a LONG time, and have worked together a long time. The manager speaks hot-rod and fully understood our objectives for the system we wanted. The system builder has been doing it for apx. 30 years, and was conscientious and didn't mind us lurking about all day as he was welding & bending pipe. We all participated in assuring the system was getting hung evenly. He was very good with a pipe bender and the pipes didn't have any nasty crimps in them (like when pipe gets folded like a wrinkle inside the crimp). His vision sent head & tail pipes going in the right directions, and clearing obstacles just like some of the prepackaged custom systems I've seen available! We brought our own mufflers with us and they installed them. I must say, I would certainly return to THIS location to have an exhaust system built for one of my own cars. The bill was $188. belt was changed as my car was parked in their parking lot and took 10 minutes. the belt is priced between $25 and $37, same brand and model # that they used. He charged me $75, one hour labor and i was ok with it. The belt, he charged me over $100. I complained and his answer was that they are not a part store and i guess that gives him the right to rip his customers off. I work in the auto industry and i know prices and how repairs are priced. again, i am ok with him making money on the parts, but $100 for an average price $30 belt? I wish I could give 0 stars as of my last experience. My husband and I have been going to Jeff at this Midas since moving to Simi in 2012. We always use the coupons for the oil change and tire rotation. My husband changes the air filters regularly, yet somehow, according to Jeff, they ALWAYS need to be changed. He told us the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. My husband declined, saying he could do it. We replaced it, and the current belt was still in perfect shape. He has told us that we have "some nerve" always coming in there with coupons (for both of our cars) and never using his other services. He hung up on my husband the last time he tried to sell us brakes and my husband declined. Today, he tells my husband that when my husband replaced the brakes, he over tightened the lugnuts, and broke his drill, and that he should really make my husband pay for it.
