I am a customer of Wat for a long time. Jay took over his legacy a few years ago without skipping a beat of Wat's extensive expertise and great customer relations! In fact, he is superior in every way! Thank you Jay for continuing excellent service i can fully trust and my Yaris to! read more

I got my vehicle serviced here by Jay. It was a great experience. He used official Toyota parts and got my spark plugs, coolant , brake fluid , oil, and tire rotation done in 2 hours. Fast and very affordable compared to a dealership. He even adjusted my hand brake for free. Great guy and fast service. Please support him and his business. He's been in Simi for 30 years and did not know about him. I'll be coming to him exclusively for all of my auto needs from now on. read more

I just left here and Jay is amazing. He fixed my 15 year old rav 4. My dad and myself have been coming here for 20 years. They are amazing. They are reliable and affordable and do a great job. If you have any type of Japanese car take it here. read more

A small, unassuming car shop hidden in the back of an Auto Plaza in Simi Valley. But don't let appearances fool you! I brought my car for the first time after moving to Simi Valley, because it's closer to me than my usual car shop in TO. I was a little hesitant at first, because I could not find much information about the shop. There's no website (to my knowledge) and I could not even find it on Google maps. There was a little bit of a language barrier when I booked my maintenance appointment over the phone, but it was not a big deal. I brought my car in for an oil change and a brake inspection and was given a call a few hours later to pick up my car. Price was fair for the area! Great value and super convenient location. Definitely recommend for Japanese car owners in the Simi Valley area. read more

Went in without an appointment for a transmission fluid flush for my 2015 Toyota Tundra. They talked to me about it and helped me the second I walked up. They worked on it immediately and it was ready an hour later. The price was also incredibly reasonable which was so refreshing since most mechanics can charge so much. 10/10 would recommend this place to anybody, and especially those with a Japanese car. Just an all around great experience. read more

Great service! They are professional and take good care of my RAV4 . I highly recommend them.

You probably can't find a more honest place to take your Japanese car. On numerous times, I've brought in my Camry because of some warning lights. They quickly ran a test to determine nothing was wrong and reset the lights and did not charge me. On my last visit, one of my headlights went out. I purchased two new headlamps from a local auto store, and brought them in to be installed. Took him about 20 minutes to replace the headlamp bulbs. He told me it was such an easy job he wouldn't charge me for it even though I offered a few times. I'm definitely bringing my car back here for service. read more

This auto repair shop is an underrated gem. I needed a bearing and ball joint boot replaced on my honda and dropped off the car for a week. Jay finished it in one day! Also, the price he quoted me was the best in Simi. Jay was honest, friendly and does fast repairs. I'll be coming back for maintenance on this car and will recommend him to friends and family. read more

I called and spoke to Jay to inquire about last minute transmission fluid flush and refill for my car and everything took about 1 hour from driving there and getting the service done. It was fast and very reasonable prices. It was very straightforward and definitely will come back and recommend. read more

This is our go-to place for all our vehicle needs. Wat was fantastic and very reliable. Jay recently did a lot of work on my car. We will continue to return to this location for repairs. They are the only one we trust. Thank you very much! read more

The previous guy saying he was ripped off, go take your vehicle to the dealership where many unfortunate people take their vehicles to get fixed and maintained. I've been going to this place for decades. Viwat has always been great to me & mom. He doesn't BS with you. He works as fast as possible to get your vehicle fixed. Dealerships have a habit of keeping your vehicle for a couple of days before returning it. They jack up the prices all the time. They rip you off when you see the bill. Dealerships always say take your vehicle to them to get genuine parts. But what's the point of going to them when they make you spend hundreds to thousands of dollars in repairs when you could take it to a place where they do the same work for less? Many dealerships hire third party repair people to fix the vehicle. You may meet a guy who works at a Honda, Toyota, or Nissan dealership only to meet him again at an independent car repair center. This place offers great prices compared to the dealerships. I've had only one minor problem with my Honda car, which I've owned for ten years. He fixed it on the same day at an affordable price. I can't complain. Viwat is honest and reliable. He doesn't force you to do anything. You can leave and go elsewhere, or get your vehicle fixed at a place that you'll want to return again and again. Which is why I come here. I hope this place will be around for a long time. read more

Very honest, kind and trustworthy. As a single woman, I really appreciate that I can bring my car in and know that I won't be taken advantage of. read more

This is what a mechanic shop used to look like. Brought my vehicle in when all the lights lit up on the dashboard and was trying to avoid going to the dealer...they couldn't help with that. They did however change the transmission oil on a different vehicle of mine and I was shocked at how inexpensive they were when compared to the dealer. Will definitely try to do as much as I can here before visiting a dealership. read more

I have been going to Viwats shop for many years and just found out today Viwat passed away. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. I will continue to go to the shop Jay is very honest and friendly. read more

My 2000 Toyota Tacoma was leaking oil out of the valve cover gasket. I brought my truck here, explained the problem, the mechanic (Jay) walked into the office to get me a price, within 5 minutes he came back out and gave me a very fair price. When he started working on my truck he also asked if I wanted him to do the spark plugs since he was already going to be down in the engine, he said I will check them and only do them if they are needed (which they were), he also asked if I wanted him to check transmission oil and if it needs to be replaced he could do that. He checked the oil for the transmission and it was good. This place is very honest, they aren't just lying telling you things need to be replaced when they don't need to be. Very honest shop, I really recommend taking your Japanese cars here, very fair priced as well. read more

Came here because of other recommendations. Wat was very nice, but I was charged $55 for each spark plug. I paid for all 6 and was charged $290 for labor on top of that. read more

My family has been taking our cars to Viwat since we moved to Simi in the 90s. He uses genuine parts.

Without Yelp I would not have stumbled upon this shop, it's tucked in the corner of an auto plaza off of First Street in Simi. If you have a Nissan, Infiniti, Toyota, Scion, Lexus, Honda, Acura or other Japanese car that you want to keep on the road, this is the shop. The owner is involved with each car in great detail and will explain the most important maintenance items for your particular car in simple terms. read more

I brought my Highlander for Viwat to diagnose & to repair a problem. He has repaired all of our Japanese made cars for about 3 decades & 3 generations of my family and all of us have been very happy with his advice & repairs...completely honest & trustworthy. His brother Jay met me & like Viwat knew about our family's cars. He said Viwat "wasn't there" & pointed to a sign with his photo showing Viwat had recently died. I was stunned & saddened...he was a well trusted friend of our family. Jay diagnosed our problem & repaired it...just like Viwat, Jay is trustworthy & charged a fair price for professional repairs. All of my family will continue to go to Jay for all of our car maintenance. Viwat will be greatly missed & not easily replaced however I have confidence that Jay will carryon on with the great service & fair prices just like Viwat...RIP my friend! read more

I always recommend Vivat to all my friends. He always takes good care of all my cars (ES350H, Camry, and previously my Highlander).

I've visited Viwat a couple times now. He's been incredibly helpful and has had much better prices than other mechanics. He's the only mechanic I've ever come across that seemed genuine and honest about prices/the work I needed done. read more

The mechanic was very friendly over the phone and listened to my description of what my concerns were, and what I wanted done. I just needed the radiator hoses and a thermostat. I usually do my own work, however I wanted him to also look the car over as I recently bought it used. He got the car in on a Friday morning and out the same day. Completely happy with the service, and will be coming here from now on. read more

My 2015 Prius needed spark plugs. The dealership quoted me $2200; the quote from JCR was $1310! Excellent job, reliable and quick. So grateful as we are a Toyota family of 3 ; 2 Priuses and a Tacoma. read more

They do good work at a good price. Friendly staff and they know their Japanese cars. Very thankful I found them.

I have a tricky electrical problem that could've been several possibilities that were all ruled out after Japanese Car Repair looked at the car. While he wasn't able to fix it at the time, he tried to charge me nothing for the trouble he went through. How many mechanics spend 4 hours trying to determine the issue and don't charge you anything for it. So now we think we know what it is and I know for sure what it isn't and this kind man took a lot of time and didn't want to charge me a penny for it. Good people. Highly recommend read more

This is definitely my go-to spot to get my cars checked out! They are so honest and hard working, and they definitely go above and beyond to give you some excellent customer service. I always dread getting my car checked out because I feel like I'm going to get ripped off, but here you can watch them work and ask them questions and I always feel like I'm getting honest answers, tips, and advice. I would HIGHLY recommend this place! It's right off the 118 freeway near the train tracks and there are many restaurants nearby to eat at while you wait (and this food truck that comes by). I wish I knew about this place sooner. They've been in business for 25 years! * I just had my oil and oil filter changed on my Camry just now and they noticed that my windshield wiper fluid was empty and filled it up for me too! ABOVE AND BEYOND SERVICE for sure. Thank you so much Sam and Wat!! read more

Japanese Car Repairs - Auto Repair Near Me - Simi Valley, California

My family has been coming to Vivat for years! He is respectful, honest and always does a fantastic job - within reasonable prices. He gets to know your cars and when you come in he already recognizes you and the car and will remember the history it's had and take that in mind. We go here for everything from oil changes to small repairs. This plaza has everything as the smog check place next door is also fantastic. I would give 10 stars if I could! read more

If you are seeking a really honest hard working mechanic that won't gouge you on prices and is willing to share some knowledge then this might be the place for you. Having been in the Automotive field and wrenching on a number of personal rides I know a thing or two about mechanics and can find my way around cars. The owner is very nice and will be very up front about costs and whether or not a certain repair is worth the investment. There have been more than a few occasions where he told me to hold off. To help on costs I've even ordered parts online and have had him conduct the installation. Not all shops are willing to do this and the ones that are may not have the best reputations for quality workmanship. All in all, this is a really good shop and I am very comfortable with taking my cars here. read more

After reading reviews and recommendations on Yelp, Nextdoor and Facebook, we went to Japanese Car Repair for a major repair on our truck. The truck was towed to the shop in the late afternoon for an assessment. Viwat was able to order the parts and fix the truck the next day. We also asked Viwat to fix a couple of other repairs the dealership recommended a couple of months ago. I was pleasantly surprised how fast the repair was and the cost was very reasonable. And yes, much lower cost than the dealership. We will be back for future maintenance and repairs of our cars! read more
