Mike at Shortee's Automotive recently did a substantial amount of work on my 2016 Ford Transit 350 HD van. The work included replacing the radiator and thermostat, servicing the transmission, and replacing the front struts, rear shocks, and sway-bar components. He also pressure-tested the cooling system and tested for combustion gases to make sure there were no additional problems. This is a large, heavy van, and it can be difficult to find someone who understands how to properly diagnose and work on it. Mike took care of everything and was thorough about checking the cooling system instead of simply replacing parts and guessing. I appreciate the amount of work he put into getting my van serviced and back on the road. I would definitely recommend Mike and Shortee's Automotive in Simi Valley to anyone looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, and dependable mechanic and a great value. read more

Have always had great service in the past but the last one - which was very expensive - left me with almost no washer fluid and a loose connection on the battery terminal. This service was done before a long trip and created issues for us. Seems like they squeezed us in and finished the work in a hurry. read more

Great service !!! I would definitely recommend Shortee's. Very professional. Took my car in for air conditioning service fixed it works perfectly and Mike came out discuss everything he did and answered all of our questions! Excellent service! Thanks read more

Truly the nicest people! I had a water pump that was cracked, and originally couldn't get an appt until next week due to the holiday. Shannon genuinely cared and was worried about my car overheating while driving my baby, and she went above and beyond to squeeze me in before the shop was closed for new years! They were so fast, honest, and helpful! They have earned our business long term & we will tell everyone we know. It is sooo hard and so rare to find great people in the industry and even more so to find people that go above and beyond. The last way I wanted to end the year was by spending a huge amount on my car, yet somehow I am thankful because at least I know my family and I are safe and in good hands with Shortees! Highly recommend! read more

So I ONLY post on Yelp when it REALLY warrants it. Shortee's Automotive REALLY WARRANTS it and THEN SOME ! ! ! Like the majority of the post, I've been taking my 2012 Ford F150 4x4 Crew Cab to Shortees for 10+ Years Mike is a MIRACLE Mechanic and Shannon is his PHENOMENAL Office Support ! ! ! My truck needed a lot of work, one of the issues being I needed a new suspension. I had an old lift kit, Mike and Shannon called around relentlessly to find the suspension replacement, using the same lift kit parts saving me lots of money. This is just one example of MANY the steps Mike and Shannon take to ensure the ABSOLUTE VERY BEST for their Customers ! ! ! I can't say ENOUGH about Shortee's, Mike and Shannon ! ! ! Simply the VERY BEST ! ! ! read more

When I had a car issue, I went on social media to my all my educator friends and Simi Valley and they all suggested Shorty's automotive. I'm so glad I did. They took care of my car, which would've been a major engine problem if I kept driving. Then the following year I have to take care of my husband's car and they are so wonderful and honest. I'm so glad my friends referred me. read more

I had an older Cadillac CTS That could not pass smog, Mike was able to clear all the emissions as well as resolving an electrical problem and get the vehicle smogged for me. At price of new cars it's nice to have a super knowledgeable, honest mechanic to turn to. I would very much recommend Shortees. read more

The owners are amazing, so honest and super high integrity. This has been the best car repair experience that I have had in years. I brought my 2019 Chevy equinox for a repair to them and had it back in just a few hours. They pointed out that not all of the work was needed on the brakes that another shop had quoted and I appreciate their responsibility to the customer and making good recommendations. read more

Again.. I have been taking my vehicles to Shortee's close to 20 years. The quality of their work is always without a doubt the best. The kind and honest service is invaluable. Thank you Mike and Shannon. I hope you continue for 20 more. read more

Great automotive mechanics and their office staff is personable, and very professional. Always do a great job on my 216,000 mile Matrix.

Highly recommended! Absolutely the best in the business and only shop I trust locally. My entire family goes to them for vehicle maintenance, from oil changes to those unfortunate surprise issues, and they always take care of us. Honest, reliable, and make things right-- every time. Totally counts and has us coming back time and time again for many years now. read more

Our car was making brake noises, so we took it into Shortee's. They checked all, brakes/pads, drove it and were honest enough to tell us that the brakes/pads were fine, still had lots of life left! Who does that? Honest, ethical people who want repeat business that's who! The girls in the reception area are also extremely friendly and helpful. They have our business for life! read more

Mike is my go to guy when my 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD needs service. He is a great, honest mechanic who never tries to upsell his customers. In my opinion, the prices that he charges are very reasonable for the work he provides for his customers. I also want to mention that the office staff ( Shannon in particular) are super friendly as well as efficient. I highly recommend Shortee's Automotive for your service needs. read more

I have been going to Shortees for over 2 decades. I have dealt with dozens of mechanics over the past 55 years, and Mike, Shannon and their team are the most honest and fair mechanics I have ever worked with. Mike is an automotive genius, and they are typically able to diagnose and repair just about anything. Mike originally specialized in GM products, but they have worked on my Toyotas, Lexus, and Fords repeatedly without any glitch. Here is the best part. Mike knows the ins & outs with the manufacturers, including past service bulletins. When I took him my first Corvette due to gas smell, it was out of warranty. However, he knew that they had a service bulletin on this issue, and said I should take it back to Chevy, with no charge for his diagnosis. They had to replace the fuel tank, and so Shortees saved me about $1,500 for this one issue alone. Then a few years later we had an issue with my daughter's Scion XB, which I had towed in to their shop. Upon his quick inspection and analysis he told me the same thing, that there had been a service bulletin with Toyota for this valve train problem. The dealer next towed it to their shop and re-built the motor, again at no charge to me. They go above and beyond any other mechanic I know when it comes to diagnosis and recommendations, and I am extremely grateful for all of their help over the years. Their prices are typically about 1/2 of what a dealer charges for pretty much anything, I have checked! As long as I am living in this town, Shortees Automotive is the only place I wish to have working on my vehicles... read more

Shortee's Automotive - Auto Repair Near Me - Simi Valley, California

I'm friends with Mikes brother and that why I started coming here.. I've brought a couple different vehicles here over the years and they have ALWAYS been very very good and fix the problem and gave me great advice on other issues. BUT....They are very bad at calling people back, I had to always call back multiple times to get an update or to even find out my vehicle was done. This last time I was there was for a exhaust leak near the headers and the truck not running great. They ended up having to work on the catalytic coverters and I had to buy new headers... (360$) because they were cracked... the labor was around 490$... after calling a couple times and getting updates after a week or two it was done and I came to get it. I drive down the street to get on the freeway and the loss of power is about 85% fixed and their is STILL an exhaust leak! So I call and let them know and I'm told that I'll need to leave the truck again and they will look at it.. so another week goes by and I had to call again and they say the truck is done.. I get in and start it and leave and It STILL has a bad exhaust leak! So after calling them and letting them know I'm told they tighten the headers and that all they can do.. unless I want to leave it again! So I leave it again and after a day or two I have to call again and they say the brand new headers have a crack in them! I'm speechless and ask how can this be? They are JBA headers a reliable company.. I was told this is what happens unless you keep the original headers.. so I asked how much it would be to put on some original headers if I supply them. They quoted me 1300$!!! For just labor And a month before they can get to it.. Ive since then done a reverse vacuum and spray soapy water on every inch of the exhaust and can't find any exhaust leak or crack .. I just feel like I wasn't a big enough job for them to take seriously at the time ? read more

Honest mechanic. Took my car to Yosemite's in East Simi for a anti-freeze leak. Was told that it would cost $800 to replace a $200 radiator. Took my car to Shortee's for a second quote. He ran some tests and called to let me know that my radiator was fine. However, he kept it overnight to test again in the morning. Turns out it was a leak in the hose. $200 repair. You have to appreciate the honesty. read more

My 2013 3/4 ton GMC Denali has been an electronic nightmare for years. Three different GMC dealers and GMC Corporate claimed they couldn't find a problem let alone fix it. The truck would shut itself down and wouldn't start sometimes for hours, sometimes days. It was recommended that I take it to Shortees as the owner is an electronics guru. I took it in on two separate occasions with two different problems and he quickly diagnosed both problems and fixed everything within a day each time. read more

Excellent service from Mike - very honest and trustworthy - will definitely be back for all car issues

After being jerked around at Simi Valley Ford with THEIR high prices and and horrific customer service, I was told to go to Shortee's Auto for my Ford Escape repairs by my Facebook friends. Boy! Were they right!! Not only did Shortee's do the work FAST, but for far less than other shops that quoted me on the same work! The service dept. at Simi Valley Ford go suck it!! I've found a gem in Shortee's auto!! read more

Worst business ever. My 82 year old mother went for an oil change. While she was there she asked to replace is bulb. She was not quoted how much installation. Her bill was $142. For a bulb and a oil change. They said they would credit us back. They did. Then charged it again. Credited back and then charged her again. Horrible customer service. The lady who is the receptionist was awful. Never do business with them. read more

Hands down best auto repair shop you can find. Family owned, you get exceptional service from the moment you walk in the front office, until your done. You are never pressured into anything but I can assure you if there is a problem you will be given an honest recommendation on how to fix it. Also they are very good about letting your know approximate time needed for inspection or repairs. They have kept my entire family & extended families cars & trucks running wonderfully... I would never trust anyone else. read more

I am pretty picky about where I take my cars to for service and repairs. I take good care of my cars and it kills me when I have to leave them somewhere in the hands of someone who probably does not care as much as I do. I am happy to say that is not the case at Shortee's. Mike is great, he is always honest and more often than not actually recommends not wasting money on a repair that won't help whatever the problem is at the time. His prices are more than reasonable, you get a quality job that you know is done right and you won't have to bring the car back in a week later with the same issue. I have been going to Mike for almost two years now and I don't plan on ever taking my vehicles anywhere else. read more

We brought my girlfriends IROC here on the recommendation of a friend and she is very happy. Mike took his time and diagnosed the issue rather than throw parts at it as other places did without fixing the problem. Mike found the problem and fixed and took the time to explain what he did and why. read more

I took my car to Shortee's because it had an oil leak and to check the brakes. I was extremely satisfied with the services they provided. They are honest fair and we will bring our cars there from here on out. They could've really told me my oil leak was anything but it was just a leaky filter so they replaced the filter did an oil change and charged a very fair price for the brake job they did. I couldn't be happier with the level of service that they provided. read more

Fair. Honest. Reliable. Respects your time. I really believe that Mike is a honest mechanic. He's been spot on with each mechanical issue we've brought to him over the last 5 years between three of our vehicles. He has provided consistency, knowledge and results in a timely manner at fair prices. For example, we recently needed to repair our Mazda RX8. It needed a new catalytic converter and we all know that those are $$$$! We asked Mike if we should trade it in instead of fixing it. Honestly we expected a biased opinion. If he advised to trade it in, he would obviously loose the job. However, what he explained was that because of previous repairs he made to the car over the last two years (different problems) that now is the time to make a change and he would really recommend to trade it in versus fixing it. He said that we've put enough money into the car and that there could be additional problems with it down the road based on the mechanical history of the car. He put the car back together and gave us back the keys without even charging us a cent for the diagnostic work-up he did! We asked what we owed and another guy working there said to just bring them lunch one day (without onions hahaha). Expect Lunch soon guys! This is what a family-style business should be and we will continue to take our vehicles to Shortees!! read more

Great place. Would recommend to anyone!!! Honest and fair pricing. Don't find that often any more

I have been taking my vehicles to Shortees for years. Mike always takes the time to listen to the issue at hand. He is the most honest mechanic I know. His pricing is fair and he thoroughly explains all of the work done. Recently, I had purchased a used car for my son. Mike looked the car over and gave us an evaluation of what work was needed for now and what could wait. Most mechanic's would try to get all of the work done now and present you with the bill. I will never take any of my cars any where else. read more

We have been going to Mike for over 10 years now. He has helped both of my adult son's in purchasing and servicing used cars and his advice is always spot-on and honest. Him and his wife are hard working, honest and fair people and you get your vehicle back when they say you will. He backs up all his work completely and without any resistance. I have been to plenty of other mechanics before I found Shortees and have never had the service and confidence that I do when they work on my car. So thankful to him both him, his team and his wife to rely on in our community. read more

Don't hesitate going to Shortee's for any of your truck and auto needs! Mike and his crew will get it done!

Mike, Shannon, and their staff, are hands down the absolute best! They use genuine GM parts, their work is professional, and their prices are completely reasonable. I can't see myself taking my 98 Chevy truck to anyone else for maintenance needs and/or repairs. Shortee's is exactly what a customer-oriented business should be, we're fortunate to have them here in Simi. Mike is a wealth of knowledge. I just brought my truck in to them for an engine misfire. Mike said they would diagnose the problem but with his expertise and knowledge, he was already fairly sure of what the problem was. Sure enough, the problem was exactly what Mike suspected it was. The problem was fixed, and the truck runs like new! Keep up the outstanding work and thanks again for your help. read more
