Andy (i think!) is awesome. I took my car in during my lunch break (i work somewhat nearby) after i called and got insane quotes from other places in the area. Simi Valley Auto Care gave me the most reasonable quote and was so fast and efficient. Andy even was able to pick me up from my work after due to the walk being way farther than i thought and i was carrying too many things. He's a very professional, nice, and honest mechanic who didn't try to finagle me out of $40 extra just because I'm a girl. His shop is around the back in a small alleyway, which is easy to find. I will be going here from now on for my car issues. He was nice enough to make sure my fluids and stuff were topped off and that the car didn't have any other issues. I have an old truck that suddenly lost the power steering. I looked on Yelp, saw the great reviews, and muscled my way over to the shop. Andres was more than happy to help me as a walk-in. Within the hour, I received an estimate and an explanation of what he needed to do to get the truck back on the road again. In addition, I mentioned I was having trouble with the A/C. I took it to a shop (not around here) FOUR TIMES and they could not keep the air working for me. I just gave up. Andres did his thing and I learned the other shop did not do what they claimed they did...he found a leak and repaired what needed to be done. This guy seems like a great mechanic. I have been desperate for a new trustworthy mechanic. I read these reviews, came & chatted & asked about several services I need. I saved up the money to get my brakes done & just called to schedule an appointment to bring my car in. I got denied because I don't have a ride away from the shop. It's a weekday. He didn't even wait for me to think of any options, just yelled at me that there is "NO WHILE YOU WAIT SERVICE!!" It kind of surprised me & gave me a bit of a startle. Maybe he's having a bad day. The glove compartment in my car was stuck, so I took it to the dealer to fix it. They wanted $600 to replace the door, latch and lock and rekey the new lock! I was shocked so I told them not to do the work. I took the car to Andy who was able to open the glove compartment in a matter of minutes. He still needed to order a new latch for the glove compartment which he did and was able to install it the next day. Andy fixed it very quickly and at a very resonable price, saving me almost $600! I'm basing my rating for this on my previous dealings with Andy from when he was in Moorpark. And I'm hoping this review helps others like it helped me (I'll explain below). I've been going to Andy for as long as I can remember and he's always been the epitome of honesty and integrity. His work is top-notch, his prices are incredibly reasonable, and he is a mechanic (and a person) of good moral and ethical character. I will go to him until the day I die, and I don't care how far I have to drive. Honest mechanics are a commodity, and he is truly the best. As for my earlier post about helping others find him...Andy sent me a personal text message when he was leaving Moorpark to tell me he was relocating. I lost that info but needed to bring my car to him. Andrew is the technician and possibly the owner. I was recommended to this place when I inquired from a friend as I was looking for a repair of my truck. Andrew took my truck, did a diagnosis and found it needed only a coil replacement,(he said it's very common with Ford trucks). Anyhow what I thought would perhaps be a major repair issue, as some repair shops are not as honest, ended up only costing me a bit over a hundred dollars. This was pure honestly and a job well done. My experience with Andy was nothing short of fantastic! I experienced some issues with my serpentine belt and Andy was able to diagnose and fix it all well within the timeframe he provided. He was extremely honest, giving me a fair assessment of my car, even when it led to less revenue for him. He recommended I skip a few different fixes because the car wasn't worth it. I own a 2004 Honda Accord with low miles but it had a knock sensor malfunction and the starter died. My friend recommended Moorpark Auto Care after taking his 2001 Toyota Tacoma there for some work. Andres was able to fit me in no problem the day that I called him and managed to finish everything in 3 days. He called me every step of the way to ensure that I was aware of what he was doing on my car. I can not stress enough how important that is!! I drove my car a little too far over the parking block in the parking lot, cracking my bumper going in and backing out. Also, my brakes only had a few more days of life in them (taking too long to come to a complete stop once I pushed down on the brakes). Finding a mechanic like Andy, who had moved from Moorpark to Simi (5.3 miles away from Moorpark via Tierra Rejada ), was like finding a unicorn. Cars are his passion. My previous auto go-to guy had botched a repair about 6 months ago, leaving me to pay for a brand new repair at another shop. He told me it was OK to drive my car after leaving his shop with a warning signal on (red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle), saying that the car is just temperamental. This was after he installed a part for the second time. His mechanic had improperly installed an engine coolant control valve and the part blew off its mounting, leaving my engine with no supply of coolant. Luckily another shop was able to fix it but they're a tad to far away for me to use as my go-to. Andy was able to explain to me why the part had blown off (failure to completely bleed all the air from the line, the shop that ultimately fixed it said that the brand name parts are just sturdier) and fix my cracked bumper for several hundred less than what it would have cost to replace it. Along with patching up the bumper, he installed a new splash guard, replaced my brakes with high quality pad for a very fair price and gave me some tips about maintenance. Andy knows cars, and what he doesn't know, he won't lie to you about like my previous mechanic had. He'll refer you to the dealer if the problem is so unique that it needs one but more likely than not, he can probably fix your issue. He's a car mechanic that really, really likes cars. He's been working on cars since 1983, and if you're a gear head he has a wealth of knowledge relating to cars and the industry to discuss. I needed an independent evaluation of a car I was going to buy. He told me NOT to buy the car. I think he won over the seller who wanted the Jeep to be safe. Andres spent 90 MINUTES with us !!!! This review for Simi Valley Auto Care is long overdue. I'd like to begin by describing how my first visit a few years ago evolved to having Andy service all 5 of our cars. My son has a 2007 Camry that needed a radiator. A local Toyota dealership gave me a price to replace the radiator of $1,400.00 Inasmuch as the car is worth that and it was is very good condition otherwise, I called Simi Valley Auto Care. Andy gave me a price of $693.00 for the exact same job. Now, check this one out: when I picked up the car, Andy told me "I over estimated the labor and the total is $601.00. I was so overwhelmed by his integrity I still wrote the check for the $693.00 just for the principle of the thing. Also to note, before opening his own business several years ago, Andy was the Master Technician and two major dealerships. I've also seen people with new cars go to Simi Valley Auto Care to avoid the dealerships. I'm so glad I made the call on my son's car. Honest mechanics are like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster, people claim to have seen them, but no one has ever produced hard evidence that they exist. Well, I'm convinced that I finally have found one. 2004 Prius, 270k miles (don't rub your eyes, I actually wrote 270k miles), big red EXCLAMATION POINT light went on. Not only did he read the code for free, which Toyota automatically charges $85 for, but he quoted me the lowest price on the failed pump he found, which was confirmed by both Midas and Toyota dealer. Until a few years ago I had all of my engine maintenance and repairs done by the dealer on my Acura NSX. I heard that Andy used to work at Acura and actually owns an NSX, so I decided to give Moorpark Auto Care a try. First of all, Andy does all of his own work, he has no employees, so you are dealing directly with a small business owner, which is usually a win right off the bat in my experience. I have literally saved thousands of dollars because Andy does great work at a fair price. Also, I can trust him to tell me when something has to be done or when it can wait. The dealer used to have me do a valve adjustment every 15,000 miles, Andy told me I don't have to. Now I even buy my tires online and have them shipped to Andy, having him do the alignment on my car yielded an amazing difference in handling compared to the tire store. One night leaving downtown LA at 7:30PM my clutch wouldn't work, stranded on a busy freeway I called Andy and he was able to verbally get me going, without him I was going to have be towed. I inquired about an alignment on my car via MAC's website and received a response within a few hours and given a quote of $85. Since it was close to my parents home, I dropped my car off around 9 and was ready before noon. The owner was friendly and answered any and all of the questions I had and even shared his background in cars, which I really appreciated. He specializes in Acuras, which brings me a ton of comfort knowing he really knows my car inside and out. I used to take my car to an Acura specialist that has become fairly popular but had to stop because I realized they were starting to over sell me on a ton of stuff, but I definitely did not feel that way with MAC. The only downside for me is they are only open on the weekdays and I'm normally here on the weekends so I won't be able to bring my car here very often, if at all. Some of the service costs are somewhat pricey, but well worth it knowing the quality of the service is so great. read more

Andy is one of the most honest mechanics I have ever met. He will tell you what needs to be done and what doesn't. We had an issue with a car not running correctly, we had it to numerous mechanics with no luck. Andy took the time to try to figure it out, he tested everything possible and found it was a very small part that wasn't expensive. We just brought my wife's car in for brakes, Andy did the front brakes and said the rear brakes were fine. Many places would have just did the work adding to the bill.
