    Oil spill
    Boj o.

This European car repair shop has been my go-to ever since I moved in Simi Valley two years ago. They've been doing a great job on my cars. My latest appointment was last minute but the guy I talked to got me in the next morning. I shared to him the importance of servicing my car first thing before I head to work. Obviously, I waited in their comfy lounge chairs. While I was relaxing, I observed that they have a personnel who moves the cars on the lot. He came in and talked to one of the guys behind the counter and told them about a particular car that he drove and witnessed white smoke coming out from the hood closest to the windshield. After I heard their conversation, I didn't care much because it's probably not my car but still raises a concern. Time came and my car was done on time. Couple days after before my usual business trip, I normally charge my car's battery. When I lifted the hood, I was shocked with the spillage of oil all over. It stained the plastic cover near the windshield and discovered multiple tiny drops of oil everywhere in the engine bay. After funneling the events happened while I was in the shop, this explains why they used almost 6 quarts of oil but only charged me for 5. I insisted to pay for the extra quart of oil but the son's owner says not to worry and it's a discount. All of the detailed events I mentioned made sense what may happen. Did their tech forgot to properly close the oil cap, which cause the oil spill and soiled the engine bay? All I wished was they would own this mistake and correct it by cleaning the mess BEFORE I drove away. Even if they offer to clean-up the mess I still wouldn't consider going back. Can't trust this shop anymore. I guess it's time to look elsewhere.

Dear Raven, Please take this response as an opportunity for self-reflection as a business owner and not a personal attack. 1. My first experience was at your shop. You can futz around with minor details. Blonde/ blonde highlights, grey, light brown, idk I'm a tired new mom who spoke with a woman and a man at your shops counter on 2/8. It's an auto shop with your address, and not a beauty school that I have receipts for. You can get hung up on the color, tell me, I'm confused as if I hit my head and wandered into another auto shop spending money on repairs. If you want to continue to try and discredit my customer experience with your shop, fine. I have $609 I spent and paperwork that says otherwise. So thanks. 2. I didn't make the initial post after I left, I'm too busy for that. I posted it the next morning. ;) You spoke with my husband on the phone. HE made the decision to give y'all a third chance, not me. He wanted the codes you stated you would give him on the following Monday. 3. We did arrive at your shop at 5:30pm that Friday. Not sure what to tell you about the door being unlocked. Perhaps it was because you still had customers inside? My husband and I both arrived at your store after picking up our child and arrived at your shop at 5:30pm. There was a gentleman at the counter talking with two other male employees. Two ladies behind your counter, NOT MAKING PHONE CALLS. An older female customer to the right of me and another woman sitting on a bench/chair by the door when I walked in. You act like I'm a Karen who just wandered into an auto shop. I have worked with many wonderful mechanics and worked on vehicles before with them. Sadly, my trusted mechanic retired, and I simply didn't have time to shop around for another. So yeah, I took advantage of the free service that GAS proudly advertises down the street from me. Keep in mind I understand that diagnosing a vehicle is not often a simple task. The issue was not that it was taking too long for you guys to arrive at a diagnosis. It's that there was NO communication on next steps or indication your team was going to communicate anything for that matter. Your team made it seem that with appointment you had the time to diagnose and follow up same day. When my husband brought the vehicle back, you quoted around $1100-$1200. Coils est at $330e same parts located at a local commercial auto shop at -$120e. Coils, sparks, mount, etc. repairs were completed at a fraction of the cost. ;) Sure you can say that your parts are cheaper than the dealership, but the reality is my repairs were done without your inflated mark up. Regarding the vacuum hose, my husband did mention not to complete any repairs until the shop had contacted him back. He was not informed of that fix until he asked about it. So, once again, no one communicated that work was going to be done. Also, if it was such a burden then perhaps you should've charged for that repair. But I guess that would have required picking up the phone to inform us that was going to be the case. 4. Reading some of these reviews another SMART owner called you out and you said that you didn't get a "thank you" for "free service". If GAS is burdened by that "Free service" then don't offer it. No one is forcing you to provide the service. That burden is yours, not on the consumer. You're in the wrong industry if you're in it for gratitude. Especially when your shop lacks customer service skills that are deserving of that thank you. It saddens me that a shop owner would rather argue semantics with a customer to save face, rather than own up to the mistakes made by your team and utilize the experience to better your business practices. It's shows a thin skin and a lack of integrity. You may praise the positive reviews you receive from customers, however it's acknowledging the faults and failures with equal weight that better impacts the community you claim you serve. Take care.

After my extended warranties end on all my new vehicles C & M has been my go to shop for repairs…read more They have done work on my Jaguar XJL, other trucks, and now my F250 Tremor. All 100k+ vehicles. The staff are always kind and go above and beyond my expectations. Their price point is fair and honest. I recently needed new plugs and coils. Ford service had my truck in for over 24hrs without even sending me a estimate. I pulled my truck out. After talking with C&M I had my estimate with in a few minutes. They prioritized my schedule and it the truck done for the weekend. Im happy our city still has an automotive shop that cares for its customers.

I took my vehicle home from this shop after a repair, with a new problem. Never had an ABS light…read morebut now I do. It's ok, the mechanic says that it is nothing "dangerous". This flags everything I know about abs system lights and abs system functions, I was told that the OBD2 ABS light could only be read by a different system by checking flashes of light from the (maybe obd1 type system type diagnostic system). Funny it would have two totally different diagnostics. But, I am not a mechanic. I'm just a girl. I was told that the ABS light could be from the vehicle being confused by what gear it was in as they were doing the service. They might have moved to with the vehicle in one gear and the transmission thought it was in a different gear. (This made no sense to me, but I'm just a girl). I paid way too much for corrections to my steering system, Im gonna say that's my fault, I don't know steering systems as well. I believe the people that say they are trying to help me. But I'm just a girl. I requested inspection of my transmission as the primary reason of my visit but they correctly and to their credit identified steering column issues as the main culprit. I still don't like the price, but they do have overhead and it's my problem for not checking their prices.' I was given half off the transmission check that never really happened. I was told that I was able to get that half off because " we already got enough labor from you". I'm just a girl but I have done my own head gasket, power steering pump, motor mounts, radiators, various sensors and hoses. But I let my inexperience in shifting and steering column issues get me taken advantage of. Until you wanted to drop a transmission pan for $550ish (it's about 20 bolts and some fluid) , and then tell me what you found. I said no and got a vehicle back with a ABS light that wasn't there when I dropped it off. but I can bring it back for them to fix it for no guarantee that it wouldn't cost me money. I'm just really surprised an AAA rated business would send someone down the road with a ABS light that wasn't there when they brought it in and then tell the vehicle owner that it wasn't something dangerous to drive with (ABS is kinda a big deal).
