My 2012 Chevy Silverado 3500 Diesel Duramax 6.6 HD, 4-Wheel drive, went into check engine warning…read morelight mode. Never a good thing! The warning messages displayed included 1. Service Stabilitrak 2. Service Traction Control 3. Park Assist Off. The truck went into drive safety mode which means lower MPH to prevent any further possible damage to the warning light mechanical issue. After getting home safely, I plugged in my OBD II (On Board Diagnostics) code reader to the OBD II unit on the truck. I did not get a message telling me what the issue was. This was unusual since I always get the code identifying the mevhanical problem. I took my truck into the local Chevy dealership service center as I have always taken my vehicle there since it was purchased at this dealership brand new. Long story on this, I was told by the service advisor that the Allison transmission was the issue and had to be replaced with a new one. Needless to say a very costly issue in the $12,000 plus bend over repair cost. After some agonizing thought and puzzlement I decided to get on Yelp and make some calls to pursue a second opinion. Long story on this was finding CRC Transmissions and their positive Yelp reviews. I called and spoke with Todd likely close to the day's closing time. Todd was gracious enough to offer some takes and opinion on the apparent and possible issue/s. The next day I received a call from his wife Lori for an update on my matter. This discussion with her of the likely mechanical issues and repairs, along with her genuine knowledge and expertise sealed the deal for me to tow my truck from the Chevy dealership to their shop for their look and second opinion. From my initial phone contacts to tow drop off of my truck to being kept in the progress loop was just amazing! In this day in age it's not that often to find business folks who are honest, genuine and sincere. This business people is not 5 star but rather 10 star. Todd and his mechanics almost immediately determined that the problem was not the transmission. The issue was identified as the Transmission Control Module (transmission computer unit) and not the Allison transmission (reputable work horse of tranny's). All I can say is wow, wow, wow! I can't say enough about Todd, his mechanics and his special wife Lori at CRC Transmissions. I felt so comfortable and confident that I also agreed to additional preventive mechanical work. Bottom line, CRC Transmissions honest work saved me about $10K. You have a new customer and I will be referring you all to family and friends. I highly recommend CRC Transmissions

On my Honda Pilot, the engine mounts were replaced, about a year later I was told it was the same issue again and that there was no warranty. I took it in three separate times for the same problems, a coolant leak, AC not working, and noticeable vibrations. Across those visits, I paid over $3,000, yet none of the issues were resolved. In the end, I had to take it to the dealership, where they properly diagnosed the problem, costing me an additional $2,500. It's disappointing to lose trust in a service I relied on for so many years. I hope they improve their quality and accountability moving forward.

I was towed to this AAMCO location and Marco fixed the clutch. He told me it would be "different", whatever that was supposed to mean. Different it was. Within a few months, it became almost impossible to get into second gear. Eventually, I couldn't get into reverse or first, either. So I bring it back for the warranty work. Marco actually TOLD me that he was literally looking for anything OTHER than the clutch work he had done before. "It's so small in those cars, I really don't want to open up the clutch unless I have to." It took him THREE WEEKS of trying all other possibilities before FINALLY breaking down and fixing his work. I will commend Marco for finally honoring the warranty and not charging me for all the exploratory work he did trying to avoid honoring the warranty. When I finally picked up my baby, Marco cryptically reported: "If anything is going to go wrong, it will happen in the next 100 miles." well, if that doesn't sound like he set something up to fail? No surprise, within a week the starter began to fail. Well, I'm not going back to Marco, so I go to an honest mechanic, who found the problem IMMEDIATELY. My family has been going to Jeff at Champion Transmissions for over 25+ years and this was my first experience with his shop for my motorhome. Both of my brothers have older high performance cars and couldn't say enough good things about Jeff, so of course I was going to trust whatever he told me was wrong with my RV transmission. Of course, I needed a total rebuild on the transmission after 50k miles on my 36ft RV, he confirmed what another shop told me I needed but I just trusted Jeff over anyone else. It sure wasn't easy for him to have my RV sitting in front of his main door for almost 2 weeks but he didn't mind one bit and expalined everything he was doing to make the trans work perfectly for my needs and the RV. I forgot for the past few months to write this review b/c it's not something I drive everyday but after getting back from the desert last week I called Jeff just to thank him again for dialing in my RV so well! Someone quoted me the same price for a new trans that Jeff charged me but the job he did is so far superior to the stock trans I would have gotten that I couldn't be happier! If you need transmission work take it to Jeff, there is NO ONE more honest and capable of getting your vehicle dialed in just right. If you're looking for a very honest, thorough and highly qualified transmission expert, Jeff and his crew at Champion Transmission is absolutely the way to go. My daughters 2007 VW Passat is starting to show it's age and threat of costly repairs even after a long history of good maintenance but these complicated transmissions are not for just any mechanic. After reading other stellar reviews I took a chance (thanks previous posters) and sure enough was more than satisfied. Jeff got right on the case to sort out the issue and instead of recommending a potentially needless and very costly repair he basically said hold off confirming the health of the transmission and explaining what was happening, easing my concern that the car was safe for my daughter drive and what to look out for in the future. As far as I'm concerned there isn't anyone else I would take my vehicles to other than Jeff. Bottom line he's simply a very cool guy that you can trust to the fullest. It's truly a pleasure to know that when the inevitable repair is needed I have someone that I can count on to make professional and customer conscious decisions helping to keep my car(s) running top notch at fare price. I own a 2005 dodge magnum RT which started stalling out and dying when i would come to a stop. Took it to a highly rated ( i use this term losely now) auto shop in camarillo and after many so-called repairs and about 1500 dollars later still,had the same problem. I was told that after all this it was my torque conv. And needed my transmission re - built to the tune of 4600.00 DOLLARS!!!! A friend recommended me to Champion transmissions. I was barely able to get the car there, it only died on me 6 times. Met The owner jeff and told him the problem. He said he would take a look at and let me know. He calls me back within 30 minutes and tells me it is the crank shaft sensor, replaces it and it runs better thab ever. Total cost a little over 200 dollars. I highly, highly recommend champion. All my cars will go there whether it is a tranmission problem or not. Because if he cant fix it he will recommend someone you can trust. Thanks Jeff. read more

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer and had the transmission rebuilt 4 years ago. (Not by Champion Transmission - but I wish I had). I started having trouble with the rebuilt transmission - not shifting smoothly from 1st to 2nd gear and sometimes the car would not go when it was in gear. I cringed at having to spend another $2500 for a rebuild, but knew I had to have it looked at. I dropped the car off and talked with Jeff, the owner, a number of times about what was wrong. He spent a lot of time with the car and ended up adjusting the linkage. No new transmission needed! No $2500! I would recommend Jeff and Champion Transmission to everyone - Honest and reliable service that I have found to be very rare thse days! Thank you Jeff! read more

I took my 2011 Jeep wrangler into Jeff because I thought it was leaking transmission fluid. He checked it out for me and said it wasn't transmission fluid, maybe the oil pan gasket? When I asked him how much for the check up he said no charge since he claims he didn't fix anything. Even though he claims he didn't fix anything I swear it feels like it drives better. Still have the leak though lol I would highly recommend champion transmission read more

Jeff and his crew did an excellent job on my 2002 C5 Corvette. They replaced the rear main seal and both oil pan gaskets. No more oil leak. If you have a Corvette, Champion Transmissions can get it done at a much more affordable price than the dealers. read more

Because my Prius is old AF, it's not worth replacing the struts. APS didn't charge me anything for the inspection, even tho I opted out of their recommended repairs. California Tire Co. helped my GF out with her vehicle a while back and did a really good job for a…read morevery fair price. After a good while, my own car started to need some repairs, so I took it to my local Honda dealership which charged me upwards of $3500 for the service. This isn't the first time I got an "inflated" quote from them, so I decided to take it to California Tire to truly test if the good service wasn't just a fluke the first time. Not only did they slash that bill nearly in half, they managed to save me from paying $1500 for a part I didn't need that the Honda dealership misdiagnosed, AND, on top of that, they were able to solve a nearly 10 years AC problem that no other automotive shop could. I can confidently say that they went above and beyond my expectations. If you're searching for a dependable auto-mechanic shop near Thousand Oaks, California Tire Co.
