A place that fixes your tire for free?! Are you kidding? Midas is always quick and efficient and doesn't charge us an arm and a leg.

I have gone here on and off for 4 years. I will I longer be bringing my car here, nor will I recommend anyone else. The last time I was I. For a standard oil change I was told it would be less than an hour, it took over 3 and then when they were "close" to being finished a man came and told me it was highly recommended that I have my cabin air filters and another filter changed. I told him I had just had them changed a couple weeks before when my car was inspected and I would appreciate it if he checked again, because it was concerning that they could be so dirty, I was worried there was something wrong with my car... he said he would take another look, turns out they weren't dirty and didn't need changed at all. I feel like he was trying to take advantage of me and I wonder how many people they tell need their filters changed that just go along with it, seems like a scam. At this point he told me it would be just a couple more minutes til I got my car back. 35 min later I finally got the keys. I get into my car. And there is black grease all over the cream interior. Not just a couple smudges, but large handprints in multiple places. Everything has been pulled out of my glovebox and left on the floor. And for some reason my sunroof was open. It was raining. I know I didn't leave it open..because it was raining and there was also a greasy finger mark on the sunroof button. read more

The folks at Midas in East Liberty were super helpful! I took a flat in to be patched on a weekday afternoon. They had it done in an hour and didn't charge much at all. Definitely would go back in the future. read more

Bottom Line Up Front: "Midas' business motto is NOT to take of the customer, but to take ADVANTAGE of the customer." I brought my vehicle in for a state safety and emissions inspections. Unfortunately, my vehicle failed the safety inspection due to excessive rusting on the front and rear rotors. The rusting led to excessive stress on the brake pads, which then required replacements. The manager (?) told me the quote to fix the rotors and brakes would be ~$840, all inclusive. Being new to this Midas, I went to check the price with other mechanics. I went to Walt's on Baum Boulevard, who was able to conduct the SAME repairs and inspections for $641. I called the Midas manager to alert him of the price difference. After a few minutes, he said he would match the price. In the end, I decided to go to Walt's since he was transparent on his work and pricing. Despite Midas' willingness to match the price, I was extremely turned off by how much they charged me and then moved to the lower price once the competition presented its quote. As a customer, I feel that Midas is being dishonest with its customers and not transparent with what they are doing and charging. To drop ~33% on price instantly tells me their business motto is NOT to take CARE of the customer, but to take ADVANTAGE of the customer. read more

I used to get services here all the time & decixed to go back because they had rhe tires I was looking for. It turned out that the ones I wanted would have to be ordered, and my rebate wouldn't be as much as I thought. The manager looked up other tires & was able to recommend a set that was available in-house, just as good, and less expensive! Excellent service, fast, and the manager is great & willing to work with you. read more

Well first mistake I showed myself to be desperate. Told them my car was overheating and I needed to drive Thirty miles back home from work. Tried Walts and tried Goodyear no one had an opening that day midas could so I took it there. all I wanted was a thermostat they said the thermostat housing was broken the water coolant container was leaking and it needed a belt also plus they asked me if I wanted diagnostics test and I said yeah you might as well so anyway I'm glad to have the work done and I go to get the bill and it's $600 !!!. I about flipped. Sign on the wall said labor $98 hr. But they charged labor by the job n said they go by the book. The coolant reservoir was $139. I later researched at less than half that price some as low as $30. I told him I am going to call and compare these numbers around and call Automotive Repair and BBB. He said all Midas shops charge differently. I asked for all my used parts back to examine them (I don't know what I am looking for! ) . bottom line, I went in for a $25 thermostat and left with a bill bigger than my weekly net pay. My Monday Morning Heroes! I had a small problem with my truck Monday morning and I went to Midas because a friend had recommended them. The guys there work fast and couldn't have been more friendly! They also keep that garage very clean, which is something I check for if someone is doing work for me. Great experience overall. read more

very ghetto, dirty, poorly trained, heard the store manager had an open sex case or something about a female employee wanting a raise, the fat guy out front has no clue whats going on, i got my car back smelling like marijuana! inside of my car interior was dirty and greasy, didnt even reset my oil light, and i think somebody went through all my belongings! read more

We went there to get two new back tires. We we pulled out the lot we start hearing a loud grinding noise. We took it back and now they're saying there's something wrong with our breaks. But we didn't have that problem until we left their lot! And then we talked to the boss and the big boss and "there's nothing we can do about it" they said. We used our hard earned money about $300 to get something fixed and now we have something broken that wasn't until they touched it... Don't go here. And then there was another lady that was complaining about their service too. Get it together Midas! read more

This place is outstanding. I always get great discounts, and all the mechanics are very honest and helpful. I am certainly not rich and Marvin is always willing to assist me with my budget and what needs to be done on my vehicle. I've been given very specific directions on whatever needs to be worked on, taken back to the garage and allowed to see the old/new parts with no hassle. My experience was similar to Amy R. Midas installed a tie rod INCORRECTLY. I of course didn't notice (who looks at their tie rod after having one installed). When I had my state inspection done, my neighborhood mechanic found the problem and fixed it (which I had to pay for). I complained to Midas and they said that I should have had the neighborhood mechanic put my car back together and then drive the car to Midas to re-install the tie rod properly. Since I would have had to pay my mechanic labor anyway, and Midas had already shown that they didn't know how to properly install tie rods, this option made no sense to me. My car is working fine now (thanks to my neighborhood mechanic) but it was like pulling teeth to get any money back from Midas. It was only after I complained to the PA Attorney General that they refunded the money I paid them for the faulty tie rod installation. Like Amy R., they offered to give me a free service (I think it may have been an alignment). But my safety is important to me so I'm never letting them touch my car again. The Attorney General tried to get Midas to give me the money I had to pay my neighborhood mechanic (which I wouldn't have had to pay but for their ineptitude). However, Midas refused (the owner called me a liar, by the way), and the AG is merely a mediator and can't force Midas to do anything. The AG did, however, suggest that I file a civil claim with the magistrate and thought I had a good case. I chose not to because the filing fee is $94 and the potential upside was only $200 (with the downside being I lose the case and am out $94 in addition to the $200 I already paid). As an aside, I took our other car in for work a while back. My spare is under the trunk (you have to lift the carpet cover). I don't expect them to put everything back exactly where it was but it was as if they put on a blindfold and just threw things in as messily as they possibly could. I've NEVER experienced such a lack of consideration or professionalism. DO NOT take your car to Midas!! They do faulty work that can jeopardize your safety. The are unprofessional and discourteous. They place NO value on customer satisfaction. Take your business elsewhere!! read more

Customer service and expectations leave a lot to be desired. I will not be returning. I had an 11:30-1:30 appointment and dropped of my car 30 minutes early because I was in the area. It took them 6 hours to get me my car back for a state inspection. I called after 4 hours to see if there was a time that I could expect it to be ready and was placed on hold for 15 minutes then disconnected. I called back again and was told it was just in the shop at that point but they could not approximate a time it would be ready. I showed up 5 hours after dropping off my car initially and my car was parked in the garage, done, and I had yet to be contacted. I waited another 45 minutes to get my car. When my car was ready, I raised my concern that the time taken was far longer than my appointment called for and was told that my expectations were too high since they do not turn away customers throughout the day, making wait times longer. I did not have too high of expectations. Even if they had said when I dropped it off to not expect it to be done in the allotted appointment time, I would have been fine with it. They will not be getting business from me again and I will not recommend them in the future. read more

Went to this Midas for an oil change and tire rotation because they are close and we had previously had okay experiences with them. Unfortunately, this one was not good. They gave me the overview of our van's problems...some were probably true...but the mechanic freaked me out by saying that our rear tires could potentially burst when I am driving (which was not true according to other mechanics that I spoke with after this experience)...and then tried to sell me some tires. I told them that I was not interested. A few weeks later, we were driving home at night (with our 2 kids) from a friend's house on Route 28 and heard a weird, thumping noise. We took our time and drove very slowly home. The next day my dad (who is also a car mechanic) was visiting and looked at our van to try to help us evaluate the problem. What happened was that the wheel was literally falling off!!!!!!! When the mechanic rotated our tires, he, apparently, did not tighten the bolts enough and, therefore, the wheel was VERY loose and about to fall off. I am thankful that it was a simple fix but I am in shock that a mechanic could not properly put on wheels. I am also thankful that the wheel did not fall off and create MAJOR issues with our family being injured and our van being (potentially) totaled. I do NOT recommend going to this Midas and we will never go back. read more

Customer service is very poor they charge you for things you did not authorise to be installed. Tell you to come pick up your car at a certain time only for it not to be close to being done. This place is a total waste of your time. Then make excuses like we had to bring in a special tool so we can fix your car (BS) because they think I am stupid. Never will I take my car there. Warning they also over charge they said to me it is going to cost you $750 to fix my front axcle I agree I say go ahead make the repairs. After lunch they call we found more problems it is going to cost you an additional $600 to fix your car but we cannot get it done today we need a special tool we had to bring a Nissan persons to tell us how to fix the problem bring your car back Monday we will fix it. I picked my car up and said to them forget about. The guy said to me I could take my car somewhere else but it would be more expensive. Sure I did take it to Lifetime Auto on Monday the service was exelent the guy called me and told me it will cost you $525 to fix the problem and will try to have it done by the end of the day. At about 3 pm the guys from Lifetime Auto called me and said we will not be done today but we will finish your car first thing in the morning. So I did not have to waste my time going there and the car is not fixed. I will recommend Lifetime Auto to all my friends. PEOPLE PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM MIDAS! read more
