Great service and a fair price. Also it's important to support local business that treats customers fairly.

I gave three stars for very specific reasons; Ray and Greg. Otherwise, I have to say-1 star would…read morehave been the tops they would get from us. Where do I begin...the beginning, a very good place to start! We needed a hitch attached to our car. My husband did the research; he found a hitch and a place to put it on that was reasonable, convenient and fit into our schedule (or so we thought). We made an appointment for 11am. They said it would take about 2 hours. We figured we 'd give them 3, being it was a Saturday. Just before 3pm (4 hours from when we brought it to them) the mechanic called to ask us a question so that he could start on our car. START ON OUR CAR???? WHAT?? Having just finished lunch not far down the road, we headed directly there. I asked to speak to the manager. He was away. Assistant Manager Ray was incredibly helpful. I was LIVID to say the least. We had 100 things to do that day and getting the news that our car hadn't been started was not helpful in the least. Apparently, it was supposed to have been marked "appointment" on the invoice but hadn't. It was given to a mechanic that was working on an involved car before ours and wasn't going to get to it in the time frame quoted. The person that checked us in hadn't done his job. He didn't indicate the appointment on the invoice. He didn't take into account the mechanics workload and certainly didn't provide any customer service when he finally approached the desk. No apologies, no remedies, not a word of encouragement. The mechanic felt bad; but, it truly wasn't his fault. There was nothing he could have done differently. His name is Greg and he did a fantastic job when all was said and done. Ray took over. He was soft spoken and stern. He understood my frustration and handled it well. He helped Greg to get the necessary parts needed to do the job right. They told us it would be done by 5:30. We arrived at 6:00, just in case. With everything connected, the electric was tested. Oh no...something was wrong. I felt myself boiling again. But, quickly Ray calmed me. He explained that Greg would take care of it all. That, instead of waiting, I could come back tomorrow. Although upset since what was supposed to take 2-3 hours is now taking 2 days, Ray really was genuine. We picked it up the next morning; it was all put together and the electrical was working fine. As for the other person who really fell short; when the manager returns from vacation-trust me-I will certainly have an earful about the lack of professionalism and customer service.

Stay away! My daughter lives about 2 1/2 hours away from us and we were visiting Pittsburgh and…read morewanted to take the car in to get it inspected. We've always had good luck with the tire department there at Pep Boys. We had an appointment at nine got there before nine. The gentleman at the front desk told me he didn't know that they could do the inspection because they weren't sure if there were emissions testing equipment was working. He then asked me for a copy of the insurance card and owners card, which I unfortunately forgot back home. I did have photos of them, but he said "they no longer do that". I could not email them they could not print them for me. My daughter and I went to Staples and got both cards printed out returned to Pep Boys and left the key to the car with them around 1 o'clock. I received a call from them that the car needed windshield wipers and front and rear brakes. Although the rear brakes would have passed inspection, he felt that we should just go ahead and get everything done at the same time so we wouldn't have to bring it back in a month. He quoted me $1400 for all of the work. I asked him how much it would be without the rear brakes. He said I don't know that "do you know how long it took me to get this in the system?" He gave me a rough estimate of $240 less. I am so angry at myself that I allowed them to do this work when I could've had this done elsewhere for about $400 but we were in Pittsburgh and wanted to get it done. He again called me and explained that he couldn't read the printout of the insurance card so I needed to bring that with me. When we walked in to pick up the car approximately 4:00, he told me that they could not do the inspection without the insurance card because they couldn't read the printout. So we could take the car and just not have it inspected --seriously? He must've sensed my frustration because at this point I was beyond frustrated and he took a picture of the photo I had on my phone and used it. He said that the mechanic just had to enter the information into the system, but he thought he might be at lunch so we could just wait in the waiting room. I don't know how long their lunches are, but we waited over an hour. Finally, I walked out to the front And the mechanic asked me if I had the Kia Tucson. I said it's not a Kia. It's a Hyundai finally, we paid for the car and left. This was a nightmare the people there do not seem to know or have any clue what they are doing. I will never ever take a car back there nor what I refer anyone there. I recommend you stay away. Their customer service is the worst that I've ever seen and they will only rip you off. I'm thinking of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
