I came in for an oil change today and I was greeted enthusiastically by Dan. He was very professional and appeared knowledgeable but was also very warm and engaging. He was efficient in getting my service ready, helped me get a few small but important replacements taken care of and made pleasant conversation with me. He encouraged me to grab some coffee & have a seat. I could sense that he really wanted me to feel comfortable. He seems like a very genuine guy and he was friendly with every customer he worked with while I was in there. He was receiving training during my time there and he was still able to multi-task and maintain his chipper tone. I noticed he was a new face there and he was, having come from a mechanical background and only being on staff for 10 days. I would have never guessed that-quick learner! He is great with people and very focused on his work. I can tell he cares about being excellent at what he does and clearly has a strong work ethic. I never write reviews but Dan just seems like a really solid man who deserves some kudos. He definitely represents the company culture of servant leader who prioritizes people. I hope he is able to transition into this new field with great success. Keep up the good work and know that customer treatment and having a positive, warm vibe (does) make a difference. I'm usually not the type to post Yelp reviews except in the instances of extreme unprofessionalism, incompetence or just an overall horrible experience. I've been to this shop 4 times now, and everytime I've been pleased. The manger Mark is very nice and not in the business of trying to over-service your car. My wife recently took her truck to the dealership and the explained that her brakes needed to be replaced. The price quoted was nearly $700. I had just gotten my brakes done for less than half of that at this location. I called and got a quote for half of the price that the local dealership quoted. She schedules an appointment to drop it off andm get the brakes done. They ask her ro wait because dealerships have the tendency to be overly conservative with repairs (not to mention the prices). After it was all said and done, the brakes were nowhere near 80% worn like the dealership stated. We'll take it back for another inspection in late spring. Needless to say we were more than pleased with the customer service and the honesty. We'll continue to patronize this location. read more

I just had a fabulous experience at Midas. My car would not go into park or turn off. I immediately drove it to Midas and the manager was beyond helpful, funny, and charismatic. He immediately took care of my car and got it to stop running and park. While I was sitting there waiting for my ride, the manager gave his keys to another customer who had been stuck there from out of town for 4 hours and told her to go get some food and walk around. That kind of behavior and chivalry is very hard to find these days. I was blown away. Unfortunately for me, they had to special order the part for my car. The order took FOREVER to arrive and I have to admit I was increasingly frustrated with how long it was taking to fix my car. When I went in 5 days later to pick up my car, they had taken the transmission fluid off my bill because of how long it took for the part to come. I was incredibly grateful and blown away by their hospitality, and kindness. Worth going back! read more

I had a wonderful experience at the Okemos Midas shop today on July 31st. Up front I was told that I would have to wait as they were down a couple of mechanics. I gave the usual information and I went to do some shopping. I'd unknowingly left my phone in the car the as the Assistant Manager Tim called to let me know that the car was ready. He and his crew were so congenial. My right tire rod had been repaired and I brought the car in for a alignment. Tim told me before I paid that the left side tire rod needed to be replaced. He had an estimate ready and explained the importance of getting it down so the money I'd spent today wouldn't be wasted. He also noticed that I was on "e" and shared some gas so that I could make it to the gas station up the street. This Midas location exudes professionalism and automobile expertise. I went in to get a new battery installed, and even though they were packed they were extremely helpful, and I didn't have to wait too long considering the many customers they were helping at the time. The manager is great with customers and was working to attend to the needs of everyone there, he even gave the customers in the waiting room some Dr. Peppers for the extra wait, very thoughtful. They helped save me money with an online cupon, and even hooked me up with an awesome warranty for my new battery! As someone who isn't very car savvy, it's nice dealing with friendly and honest people. Starting the morning with a dead battery is no fun - I missed class and had to face an unplanned expense - but being helped by a friendly and honest staff made my unfortunate day a lot better! I sense a "dragging" and thought I smelled hot plastic. That's what I told the man on the phone, hoping he'd have an available time soon, as I'm a visitor to the Okemos, MI area on business. They diagnosed the problem and showed me using the other side of my car, which was okay, as the comparison. The caliper was shot, as were the pads and the rotor. Good thing it had cooled off a bit and I'd opened the windows while driving! About an hour after I brought it in I drove away, safe and not over-charged! And, my dignity intact because of the quality service everyone in the shop maintained. Please don't think because it's a "chain" service center that you won't get good, personalized service or proper attention...they did all that, with a nice cool waiting area. read more

I have visited Midas on Grand River in Okemos, MI for the third time and I am sorry i have not reviewed them before! They are fantastic! Customer service is beyond any I have ever recieved in Mich Jacob greets you and takes info, Mike the manager walks you through what needs to be done and shows you, Juan and Kyle are the real stars of this business! They fix all that is wrong and one even sings as he works. How awesome us that!‍ I started with Christmas lights on the computer and they walked me through each code and said they were starting with the one linked to most, then came back and showed me the gunk in my inkake.. cleaning all that and a new battery worked .. all codes disappeared! Started to hear some grinding noises on one of my brakes and requested an appointment overnight while I was at work. In the morning, I called to see if I could get in early and they said yes! I went in and Mark took a look at my car. He explained to me what was going on with my brakes while showing me at the same time. He explained to me what repairs I needed to get right now and what I can get done later but don't have to right now. They fixed the brake issue and had me out the door in about an hour. Midas in Okemos really did my family a solid this Christmas. We went in suspecting some major issues with the brakes and our fears were confirmed. Robert, was great. He understood the timing, our family, and how badly the work needed to be done. I have never had someone be as straight forward and honest about a situation with a car. It always seems the more money they make the better. Not Robert. He talked to me, broke everything down, cut me a break and most important I left with a safe vehicle. I've used this Okemos Midas for my vehicle needs for a few years now and Robert the manager is FANTASTIC! I feel like he genuinely wants to help his customers and in my experience he goes above and beyond. They consistently get me right in (I always do make appointments though) and I always feel like I'm getting an honest assessment of my vehicle. I had a spare tire that was rusted to the spare tire holder and needed to use it for a flat. I brought the tire in to Mark and he and his crew somehow got the tire removed from the rusted and stripped bolts that held it in place. The service was extremely fast and Mark was absolutely wonderful and very understanding of the situation. He was also extremely generous when we squared up. I will officially be sending all by business to this shop and highly recommend them to anyone in need. I only wish I found them sooner. read more

This place is beyond exceptional! I've been to several repair shops in the greater Lansing area. Mark; the manager is extremely professional, and great with customers, as is Ky, and Kyle; the technician. This Midas is open under new management, and they are working hard to build a following. I took my car in for an exhaust repair and they were personable, friendly, knowledgeable and their estimate was actually higher than the final charges! While I was there, the manager sent a staff member out for brake rotors for another customer and he drove all over Lansing until he found the correct part. Fixed my exhaust by welding a new "flex pipe" in place of the old one. The manager showed me the problem before fixing and I was glad it was not as major as I thought. Said 'about an hour' and it was like 40 minutes. Great experience, so I asked them to fix my driver-side electric window motor which did not survive the winter! Done! Just good friendly service from new manager James who seems to keep things hopping along with good tech people. read more

I came out of Whole Foods to find an almost flat tire. When I stopped at Midas, I thought they might turn me away because it was close to their closing time. But they were extremely friendly and helpful. They found a nail in the tire, and insisted on fixing it for free, although I pushed back. Then there ended up being another issue, and another expert found a solution - still no charge - so I could get home and feed the kids. Thanks Midas! read more

Quick, courteous, job well done. Arrived at 9:05 sans appt and they had me on the road 50 minutes later. The rear exhaust pipe had broken loose from the front resonator. They made the correct repair by cutting the pipe back, installing a stainless steel flared patch sleeve and solidly welding it in place. It should last awhile. Very satisfied and happy to recommend Adam and his crew. read more
