When this turns into a paranoia so debilitating that you are chasing customers away, it's time to reexamine your processes. My adventure began when I stopped at this station to fuel up on my way to my client's facility. When I used my credit card at the pump, I was met with my old foe, the Zipcode verification. As a visitor to the United States (I am Canadian), I would expect that businesses would build in some sort of process for accommodating foreign visitors. Given that Michigan borders with Canada, one would think that verification of a Canadian VISA card would be a simple matter. When I do encounter this, the normal process would be to give my credit card to the attendant as a guarantee, and then to fill my tank, and finish the transaction with the attendant. However, at this specific station, that seemed to be beyond the comprehension of the attendant, and of the manager on site. No, I would have to estimate the fuel cost, have them process the transaction, then fill to that amount. If the vehicle holds less, they would then do a credit transaction for the difference. I can just see the face of my accountant reconciling all these transactions. However, faced with an empty fuel tank, I had them process my transaction while I went back to my vehicle to fill my tank. As I get ready to pump, I get a call on the intercom that they can't (won't?) activate the pump unless I return inside to sign the transaction. So, back inside I go, sign the transaction, then return to the vehicle. I select my grade of fuel, only to be told by the pump that I have selected an "invalid grade", whatever that means. Okay, enough. Time to find a more accommodating business. I retrieve my credit card, have them cancel the transaction (I hope), and leave. As I am walking out the door, I get the snide comment from the manager from behind, "Every station is going to do the same." Then a snarky "You have a great day!" Two blocks away, an Admiral station. I pull up, insert my credit card, and it approves. I pump gas, get my receipt, and I am ready to go. Definitely a station that appreciates its customers.

I stopped eating here long ago. On top of this, they refuse to process your transaction unless you go through this whole donation nonsense. Did you know you're money isn't really a donation to Children's Miracle Network? It's actually a donation to Speedway's bottom line - they write off your donation. And they have a photo of the kid they "sponsor"...the photo hasn't changed in years, I'd be hard pressed to believe he's still a kid. Lastly, and perhaps more importantly, this is one of the most expensive gas stations in the area. If you go south east, you'd be better off getting a Sam's membership and buying there. Southwest, the Admiral station at MLK and Grand River. North? Go to the Speedway or Murphy's in St. Johns. I easily save at least $5 every fill up just by not filling up here.

I saw a few signs for this Speedway as I approached the exit and am glad I took the time to pull off and stop here. The place is clean with reasonable gas prices. Tons of space to move around in the parking area and pumps. The pumps are pretty new looking and snazzy. I loved the inside because it was a really nice clean setup. They even had a pizza station! They had a bar area with some stools if you wanted to sit and eat in the store as well. Staff here was pleasant and quick. I would gladly stop here again on my way out of town. Thank you Speedway!

I got all my clothing into washers but needed cash from the ATM to dry them, so I was stuck bringing several loads of wet clothes back home, which I then finished drying at a laundromat elsewhere the next morning. I only came to this place because it was open 24 hrs but it was so inconvenient that I won't be back.

Only when heading south on Byron RD can you slide into a pump without looping around. Redid the whole store made lot bigger but put pumps close together and didn't fix the drastic frame bending hole the sewer drain sits into so accessing the parking lot from the side road is still a painful dodge. Doors are not handicap accessible, heavy as hell with a suction close so if you have a bad back and can't pay at the pump drive on. Frankly drive on period as this is a sad excuse for a new and improved service station. Bathroom? Don't know but there isn't one in the laundromat attached to this gas station. The laundromat has no handicap accessibility, the dipped area of the sidewalk for those who can't handle steps up is fully blocked off by a picnic table. No laundry carts or sink in laundromat and poor machine care. A machine was falling apart aggressively when I was there and the manager didn't follow sane safety procedures by refunding the patron and having them move their load to another washer instead let them keep using it as it literally slammed the bolts from its casing as it broke down. Only one non premium washer had any water pressure past a trickle and the entire set up is non functional too small and I doubt even inspected by the proper boards as nothing about it seems safe or legal. This place has been back open for only a few months but for this ex-patron, never again. I live a mile away and I'll drive 15 additional miles to avoid giving them my business.
