They told my daughter that they would conduct a free inspection on her car as it had an exhaust issue. They inspected the car and then gave her an 1100.00 estimate to repair it. When she declined and went to pick up the car they said she had to give them a five star review before she could have her keys back. Otherwise the inspection would be 24.95. She gave them a review got her keys back and went to muffler man where the repair was done for 180.00 and they took great care of her there. Thank you Muffler Man! She has since deleted her five star review for Midas. Do not go to this Midas! Their business practices are unethical! read more

Friendly, efficient, honest We are from out of town and were borrowing my step-moms car. A torrent of Midwest rain revealed that the windshield wipers didn't work. The guys at Midas took the car in and found that the bolts just needed to be tightened. I had a great experience, and I will definitely go back if I need any other repairs done on my car. I went in for a heat shield rattle, and the technicians brought me in to show me the issue (terrible design, flimsy materials). They said they often just take the heat shields off completely when they start to go since we don't live in an area with sustained high heat. I wasn't ready to do that and they weren't pushy at all about it. They replaced the missing bolts, and the service manager sent me on my way with no charge. Everyone was kind and helpful, and now my car doesn't sound like a freight train anymore! read more

I dropped off my vehicle for tech evaluation, found it parked behind the building with windows down and doors unlocked, where homeless hang out: unsafe and great opportunity for theft. Manager promised to deliver my vehicle, but he didn't. Manager said he would honor or price match lower bids, but he didn't. I got lied to, he attempted to double charge me. Went in for a inspection today because I kept hearing a slight clunk every time I hit a bump turns out it was from front control arms , ball joints and tire rods that all needed to be replaced. I've been coming here for years, and this will be the last time. I made an appointment on a Saturday to get tires on my car. When we arrived for the appointment, we were told they don't have any tires. So we made an appointment for the following Wednesday to get tires and an alignment. I dropped the car off at 10am, and left at 4:30pm, with a temporary valve stem and yet, another appointment for the following Wednesday. This time I arrived just before my 1pm appointment, and still I was there until 4:30 again. 10 hours!!! It took 10 hours and 3 appointments to get simple tires and an alignment. And no, there were no pop up issues that delayed the service. From the waiting room chatter, they have been experiencing management issues. Nothing but improvement will save this garage. Update: 4/30/19~ I tried to click in the link in The Midas response. It cannot be done. Can't even copy and paste it. Yet another example of how inept they are. You tell me you want to hear more, but make it impossible to do so. This, is not helping. You make it out like it was one visit where I had an excessive wait. No, it was THREE SEPARATE APPOINTMENTS, totaling TEN hours of waiting. That is not simply a "busy shop wait time". Why do you make appointments if you make people wait and wait, before their car is even pulled into the bay? You really need to work on customer service!!! read more

I do not recommend visiting or supporting this business for auto repairs. Do so at your own risk. If anything goes wrong with the repair, they will gang up on you in person and when you call their district manager (Aaron Flint), he will not answer his phone, call you back, reply to your emails, nor cooperate with you in any way despite respectfully contacting them. So the story goes, I was traveling to Okemos from Wisconsin and needed some emergency car repairs. I dropped off my car there right away when I reached Okemos. Told them I was from out of town and needed work on the vehicle ASAP since I have to leave town in 2 days. They were nice about it and was able to do the work quickly. Although a bit more expensive but understandable. When I picked up the car, I noticed damage on my bumper. I couldn't think of any other possibility of damage apart from being at the Midas. We didn't notice any damage when we were packing the car for our trip and we dropped off the car at the shop right when we reached Okemos. I went to talk to the shop politely to see if they have any information or video footage. The guys there all get into the conversation and was super defensive when I simply ask for their video surveillance. Told me the damage was there before. Seemed super fishy as if they were all ready to combat me as soon as I got there. Eventually they told me to come back on a later date, obviously knowing that I was from out of town. But they gave me their district manager Aaron Flint's contact info. For a month, I repeatedly contacted their manager, leaving multiple voice messages and emails with no response. Eventually someone else responded simply stating that they are not responsible and will not release their video. Seems like they have something to hide. Their lack of cooperation, strong defensiveness, and taking advantage of an out-of-towner just makes them seem very guilty. It's so hard to find good auto-shops now a days. It's so easy for them to take advantage of you. *sigh* If anyone has any recommendations of how to find good and honest mechanics, let us all know. Also by the way, everyone should know the GARAGE KEEPER'S LIABILITY Act 391 in Michigan to protect yourselves and maybe take pictures of your vehicle before you get any work done. read more

I desperately needed an alignment, so I made an appointment on their website about two days in advance. When I showed up for my appointment they couldn't find me in their system. So much for making an appointment. Long story short, they kept my car all day, then called at the 11th hour to tell me my car had too much damage for them to do an alignment, and while there was no time left in the day to start calling around for all the parts I supposedly needed, the good folks at Midas would begin again on Monday and call me when the car was done. While I don't know everything there is to know about cars, I did know I didn't need a bunch of suspension components replaced in order to have an alignment done. I took my car to a competitor the very next day, and it was this competitor (BT) who led me into the pit underneath my car to show me the what I had going on, and guess what? No suspension parts actually needed to be replaced. F*ck you, Midas. So if you want to be treated like a mark and unceremoniously up charged for parts you don't actually need, and undoubtedly they will not actually swap out, go to Midas. Either way, always get a second or even a third opinion. read more

I was waiting from another vendor and since those are temporarily closed and had purchased tires from them with free installation & life time warranty, it was almost 3 months, tried to look out locally to support, found Midas nearby with my scheduled time, booked online went there and was waiting in lobby, enjoyed the conversations with Mark, the job was done and decent charges, so i would love to go with them again and again. Mark; the manager is extremely professional, and great with customers, as is Ky, and Kyle; the technician. If only I could give it a zero. I went to Midas of Okemos to fix an oil leak. They convinced me to have my timing chain replaced as well. It was supposed to take one day. Instead it became a five day nightmare. At one point I was told they put the car back together incorrectly. I had to keep calling work and telling them I couldn't make it because Midas couldn't fix my car! Five days later when they claimed to be finished, the car was still leaking. Because I didn't have an infinite number of days to take off from work to let them try to fix it, I eventually went elsewhere. By November, the timing chain that they put in had ruined my engine. Went in on Wednesday for an oil change, came back today (Friday) for more major repairs. Service was fast and friendly: everyone, from the person at the counter to all of the people in the shop were friendly throughout my multiple appointments. I've always gone to Midas for car stuff and this was my first visit to the Okemos location. My car is about a decade old, and previous maintenance has been the bare minimum. The technicians went over the courtesy check with me, explaining the importance of each piece or service. It turned out that my car required quite a bit of work: belts were wearing out, fluids needed changing etc. The Midas staff worked with me to keep the cost as low as possible while fixing all of the major issues with my vehicle. I just got my car back and it feels great knowing that so many critical issues (that I didn't even know about) have been repaired! read more

This Midas is wonderfully efficient and fairly priced. The manager, Mark has just the right attitude and approach to customers. They are usually busy, but at certain times of the day, you can get your car serviced quickly, just call ahead and ask when they can get to your vehicle. I got back to East Lansing after a 7 hour drive from my hometown and immediately noticed an issue with my car (of course when I'm 7 hours away from my dad who always deals with this stuff). This was my second time taking my 2012 Subaru Legacy in due to mysterious noises... And this was the second time the gentlemen at Midas didn't charge me a penny when they couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong. They checked out the car, ensured it's safe to drive, and referred me to folks they thought could better help me. As a young gal who knows NOTHING about cars, I'm really aware of how easy it would be to get taken advantage of in this industry, and I just have a sense of overwhelming gratitude for the team at Midas because of their integrity and sincerity, particularly when there isn't anything obvious to fix. To be clear, they've fixed things on my car before and I've gotten to pay them for their time and work to fix tangible problems, but I owe them this review for the two times they've worked to ensure my safety and sent me on my way without paying. My experience with this store was not good I taken my car there for a oil change and as they put my car on the ramp to raise it up they pinch the under wires to undercarriage light and the car caught fire burned driver side panel really bad thr the manager promise to fix it back new after treating us about the owners of Midas are lawyers and for us not to even try to take them to court because we will lose anyway the car was fix by the employees and they did a very cheap job wrong paint color had to be done over after market part that has a bad flaw in it and the manager refuses to correct it say it looks good enough for him and to us to get a lawyer a little d hung the phone up on me this is bad business to burn your car a tell you to take a hike now I have to pay to have my car done by a professional body shop not happy with the back yard body work done by the employees. read more

Car wouldn't start, had it towed to Midas. Midas ran some tests on the car. They tested the starter, the alternator and they asked if I wanted an electronics test, so I said go ahead. They did NOT complete that test. All of the tests came back fine. One of the mechanics determined it was the battery in my keyfob. I told him there was no way it could be that after I had described the events leading up to it. He assured me it was, and he started the car a few times to "prove" it. It started. I got a couple miles down the road to return the alternator I had bought (because family was saying it was probably that.) I got back in the car and... it wouldn't start. I called up Midas and the mechanic came down, showed me the slip that the two tests they had completed show everything was fine. He banged on the starter and the car started. He determined it was the starter. I bought a starter from a shop and took it to them the next day. They replaced the starter to the tune of $272.50 labor. The starter itself from some shop cost $144.99 plus the core. The car worked for about two weeks (I only drove it once in that time). I called up Midas and they said to bring it in again, so I had it towed to them again. They informed me they were having a crisis and a few of their employees and managers or something had just quit, so the district or regional manager was there. He did a cursory look and said the starter was bad and sometimes cheap parts from China just don't work out of the box, and not to worry because they would replace it for free. I brought the new starter to them the next day. That day, he told me I would have to pay to have it replaced. I was irritated at this point but he kept insisting he never said it would be free to replace it and then he yelled at me because I was being slightly snarky. I took the "defective" starter back to the shop. They tested the starter and said it was perfectly fine. I took it back to Midas where the d. manager tested it again and said it was bad. I told him to test the new new one, too, which he did. He said it was bad. The d. manager from Midas had used a battery charger to test both new starters. So we took both starters back to the store, he followed in his car, and we tested both starters. Both were just fine. He said ok. I returned the new new starter and he took the old new one back and put it in. He FINALLY did some investigating instead of just assuming it was high ticket items and found it was simply a ground wire that was bad. It was possible I didn't need to replace the starter at all and could have saved several hundred dollars. At least he didn't charge me for the ground wire. When I finally got my car back, I turned it on and found the radio no longer worked at all. The d. manager said they would take care of it. I went in and talked to the new manager of the store and he said they didn't have time to look at it today. I told him they weren't finished with my job, seeing as though they made my radio no longer work. He said that's not how it works, all these people had been waiting. But I again insisted that I was also waiting, and my car wasn't finished. He had the audacity to say then "how do I know the radio even worked before you brought it in?" I lost it and cursed at him, saying "are you effing kidding me?" He demanded I leave and I told him no, not until they fix the problem they caused. Eventually he had some mechanic come out and look at some fuses, but found no issue. The manager said I could leave the car there overnight if I wanted and maybe they'd look at it in the morning. I said "fine". The next day, around 2 pm I stopped by to see how things were going. He was finally looking at the car and said he got the radio to work, but the display no longer worked. I again let him know it was working before I brought it to Midas. He said there was nothing he could do and he had called a Mitsubishi dealership and they told him there was no way that could have happened. Well, it obviously did. Anyway, I had the hood of my car open and I found that Midas had also broken the little clip that holds the rod that holds the hood open. I remember the clip being perfectly fine a few days before, before I took it to Midas. The manager did the same spiel "how do I know the clip wasn't broken before you brought it in." The manager did offer to pay for THAT himself because it was about a dollar. Later I also found the air intake clips were missing, as well. Anyway, long story short, they screwed up several times on the diagnosis. Made me buy a starter and pay for installation. Found it may not have even been a starter issue because, oh, it was actually a ground wire. Midas broke my radio and the display and refused to take responsibility and refused to fix it (the display is still broken). They also broke the clip under the hood of my car and took the air intake clips. it was an absolute nightmare. I will NEVER go to Midas again and you shouldn't, either. read more

AMAZING customer service! These people have always gone above and beyond every time I've been here. I will never get my oil changed anywhere else. I've been going to see Mark there for months now and he's been nothing but kind and honest with me. These people aren't out to get all your money - they truly want to HELP. Which is a huge relief being a woman trying to find a helpful honest company for my vehicle. Also, I have to mention how incredibly sweet and nice their office manager, Jaclyn, is! She's the most kind hearted person I've worked with in cars, most other places the managers don't care to talk to their clients - however Jaclyn and I had conversations to pass the time. Overall, wonderful wonderful experience as usual with them! I highly recommend everyone go here, they will even do a complementary inspection of your vehicle and leave you with recommendations and helpful tips! They aren't pushy with their sales, very honest if something can wait to be replaced. LOVE LOVE LOVE this shop - can't say enough good things about everyone here!! Tried to sucker me out of nearly $900 when I went in for a routine oil change. I didn't have the $ for that and just got the car, so I took it into the dealership to see if it was in warranty for these repairs. Dealership confirmed that 90% of what was listed was not broken on the car. The most sensational of the long laundry list (and most expensive) Midas gave me was the "loose" half shaft. Midas guy took me under the car and demonstrated that it wiggled and that this was bad. Dealership laughed when I told them...this is supposed to wiggle... DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP! They are either incompetent or criminals. Ended up only needing about $200 of the $900 repairs listed at Midas (just some new tires which I knew I needed before I even stepped into Midas!) read more

If you are wanting to go back to the past where good quality and good service were to be a thing, then this is the place for you. After a great "Hello" from I believe manager Will doing 3 tasks at once and all with 100% excellence, he gets me set up with Juan who greets me with a nice first bump (can't shake hands with COVID). I gave him my key and while Juan investigated my car, I watched a nice Old Western movie that my grandfather and I have watched together which was very nice. Then Juan gave me the rundown in a well professional manner and said that although the parts needed to be delivered , they could get it down tomorrow, which sounds great even though they haven't even ordered the parts yet and it was about 1.15 hours till closing. I asked a question about dropping off my car early in the morning because I am a college student and guess what?! I was offered to be driven to school after I dropped off the car! And that Tuesday morning, I dropped off the car, with Will and Mark remembering who I was when I walked in and Juan going above and beyond. On top of driving me DIRECTLY to my school destination, he even spotted and showed me directly some things that I should be concerned about. Legend. Then after I got back, the car was nice and ready for me. I believe Mark finished up me during checkout, having me out in a split, and gave great, clear instructions with 100% confidence to me on what to do. Very disappointed. I was looking for a good reviewed place to fix my brakes so I gave them a try. First I called and made an appointment several days in advance and when I arrived Mark said I didn't have an appointment scheduled (even though I was in the system) but he would work me in. About 4 hours later he gave me a quote of over $700 to replace rotors. I called and got a much cheaper estimate from another quality place so I told him I'd just like to pick it up. When I went to pick it up he said well you came too fast to pick it up, it'll be a few minutes. I said ok and had a seat. He kept saying passive aggressive comments the whole time saying "I wouldn't drive that" "you have no brake power you better be careful." I just looked at him and politely said "I would just like to pick it up." He continued to make comments in front of the whole lobby and I just kept holding my tongue and saying I have another estimate I would just like to pick it up. Finally they pulled my car around. I feel so disrespected and have never been treated like that at a place of business. They were quoting me a much higher price and then when I said I would not like to do that he made passive aggressive comments in front of the whole lobby. Never going back there, stay away if you don't want to be over charged and treated with disrespect. read more

I went in to get a simple brake replacement. After they replaced the brakes they started knocking. I had to go back 6 different times, was without my car for 5 days, and the regional manager had to come try to fix the problem. After 5 times of them getting it wrong, I think they finally got it on the 6th time. And said it was the result of a part that should not have caused a knocking noise and was not making that noise before they touched it. Now I'm having difficulty getting a refund. DO NOT USE THE MIDAS IN OKEMOS. The man at the front counter was extremely friendly and you can't beat the $19.99 oil change and tire rotation price. However, my brakes had been squealing for about a week so I asked for them to be checked. They said I needed new brakes and rotors on the front and back, to the tune of $811. I wanted a second opinion and also wanted to shop around for price comparisons. 1. They were overpriced compared to another Midas shop on MLK, other repair shops and dealerships. 2. I had it checked at a dealership by a licensed mechanic and it only needed rear brakes and rotor resurfacing for $195, and that was dealership pricing which is normally high. I feel that this Midas shop is either dishonest or unskilled. Either is highly unacceptable for a car repair establishment. I recommend steering clear of the "Midas Touch". I give them . read more
