Great Job!! The guys were extremely helpful! They diagnosed my little corolla and gave it to me straight. Thankfully my father taught me a lot about cars so I'm confident every time I walk into a shop, but these guys out my worries to ease. They were VERY fair in the price for new lifetime warranty front brakes and were able to salvage my rear ones, plus a high mileage oil change for little under $400. They were extremely helpful, pulled out charts, made jokes, and made me feel welcome. To top it off they even vacuumed my car! These people were great. They debunked what Valvoline told me about my brakes being at 20% thickness, by showing me my still very thick brake pads. I needed new rotors and the pads did have some cracks (this came from a bad brake job done at Evans Tires a few years back). It cost me twice what I was expecting but it was all explained to me like I was actually a participant in the decision rather than a demand made to me like I have experienced a lot in the past! I appreciate that and I feel like I can trust them. Also, no constant add-ons when they did this brake job or when they did my oil change a week prior. Thanks for being honest! read more

Got this coupon from amazon local which was 3 free oil changes! So I went and called to make an appointment. First time I called the guy said come in today or next day which sounded good so I came in got my oil changed, took like 30 minutes. Not bad. So I'm due for another oil change, called again guy answered asked if I was using a coupon and I said yes, he said come in a month. I don't think I will ever buy a coupon from them anymore or go here at all anymore after I get 2 more oil changes. I'm pretty sure if I didn't have a coupon I would have been able to make an appointment on the same day but since I got one I have to wait a month? Seriously? read more

Very pleased with service. Took Jeep in to check everything before making a 700 mile trip. Service guys were great, told me stuff I never knew about cars. Gave me a list of work needed immediately and what could wait. Done on time, the car runs better than ever and Most importantly, I feel safe making the trip. The customer service was okay and informative however the ammount of time it took was wayyy wayyy to long and way past the estimated time given. We showed up at 130 and its now 625 while i pay for this..good thing i didnt have anything to do today..the car was on stands for about a hr or so without a tech in sight..yet i payed so much for labor..never coming here again. read more

I had a good experience at Midas in La Mesa this morning. It was a first-come, first served oil/oil filter change, basic check over. Everyone was pleasant, they got right to it and I was in and out in half an hour. They did a good job of explaining the tire rotation rule to me and noting things that should be attended to. I got a referral for my windshield replacement. Also, I don't know what happened with the lady who had the Groupon that wasn't honored, but I had a coupon for this service I misplaced, and they did it for that price anyway, and with a great, mellow attitude. If I weren't moving out of the area, I would return down the road. read more

The good: $20 oil changes with coupons that are all over San Diego (and you can print them off the website) The bad: An oil change and brake inspection took 3 hours, of the two cashiers/representatives one was nice and one was rude, they try to up-sell pretty hard. Overall I was turned off by the customer service but would probably deal with it to continue getting oil changes for $20. The brake inspection took 3 hours ... most of it spent with me watching my car sit on the lift with the wheels off while the techs worked on other cars ... pretty ridiculous. They obviously don't care about making the customer experience efficient if not pleasant. The estimate for brakes, fluids, and tires was $1500 and, really, only the front brake pads and rotors need replacement along with the 4 tires on a small car. read more

Decent place, getting brakes done and it is a reasonable price. They do try to sell you on everything they can, which is understandable. Came in for front brakes, knowing rears were bad as well but couldn't afford both at the time and they tried to tell me they wouldn't work on fronts if they couldn't do rear as well. Mechanic however said he would do it, so the front desk people complied with him. I appreciate being pointed out that things are wrong. Was also pointed out that I have a bad rear shock which is leaking. Parts prices are high...quoted $200 for replacement shock. I looked up the same shock and found it for $68. Found an OEM one for $100. I will most likely return as brake prices were about $80 cheaper than other places I called. read more

This place is now the WORST. Since the new ownership took over within the past year, this place has gone completely downhill in the area of customer service and ethical behavior. I had previously bought a battery there and the battery was giving me problems, so as it was still under warranty I brought it back for replacement. This all went well, however as the mechanic was driving my vehicle out of the bay, he ran over a metal fragment that punctured my tire. He immediately apologized and absolutely accepted responsibility for the problem and offered me a used tire that they had on hand which was practically brand new. So, he changed the tire and I was on my way. However on the way home I noticed the replacement tire was causing the vehicle to shake badly. So I brought it back to the shop the following Monday and spoke with the owner, David Khames, who inspected the tire and told me that there was a sidewall puncture in the tire and that it needed to be replaced. I explained that this was the tire that his mechanic had put on my vehicle, and that I expected him to replace the tire at no charge. The owner, David Khames, said that he didn't show any paperwork on the tire issue so he wasn't responsible. I requested that he speak with the mechanics who were involved in the transaction and he would verify my claim. The owner, David Khames, said that it didn't matter, and that as there was no paperwork regarding the tire incident, he wasn't going to do anything for me. DO NOT GO TO THIS MIDAS. The owner, David Khames is totally unethical and an outright fraud. I will never, EVER, take my vehicles to this shop ever again and I highly discourage anyone from using them. Ever since the previous owner, Scott, sold the business to David Khames, the place is not the same. Beware. read more

If I could give a -star I would. I Spoke to owner Kimberly Torres trying to make an appointment for an oil change. She put me off until January because I told her I had a groupon card. This is the second time I had to make an appt amd wait months. Of course I could not wait months so both times I had to go somewhere else. I told her that if they did not want to honor the groupon they should not have agreed to do the groupon program special. She then proceeded to explain to me that they agree with the company blah blah blah. Not my problem I have purchased this for an oil change they should honor it regardless. She was extremly rude. I use to take all my cars to midas in the past without groupons but of course who does want a good deal. After speaking to Kimberly I will never use midas in la mesa Again. Customer service is horrible aurguing and placing blame and excuses on others. I asked for corporate number but she refused to give it to me. From this experience I will never take my cars to midas on university again. If I could give Kimberly a minus star I would. Very bad business they used groupon to help with marketing but did not hold up to their end of the deal. I know I work in marketing and promotions one of the worsd things you could do is bac customer service. Even if it was not what you expected. HONOR YOUR COMMITMENT. Do not come here if you want fast service! I have been here a couple times for an oil change. Twice when I was the ONLY customer and car there. It took them two hours to change my oil and rotate my tires. The worst part is, is they aren't even trying to move quickly. The guys were all walking really slow and stopping and talking. I've never been somewhere that it takes that long. I went another time where it was pretty busy and there were only 2 techs there trying to do 4 different cars at once and the office staff were going out and doing some of the work. The only pro is that I get the coupons for super check oil changes but I don't think it is worth it to go back. read more

Disappointed in this location. The man who serviced my car for an oil change rated my front tires at a 3/32" & 2/32" tread depth. Which was highly inaccurate b/c when I returned to discount tire they showed me physically that my tires are at a 6/32" depth. The Midas employee also suggested that I replace a few other things. So I contacted my local Honda dealer and they informed me that those suggestions were also not necessary. So for the sanity of others, please train your associates better. On top of this, please inform customers when there will be a wait to replace their filters because the part has to be brought over from another location. Thank you. read more

My biggest fear whenever I take a car to the shop is that it will cost me twice what I expected to pay. That is not the case here. Scott is an excellent diagnostician and a trustworthy businessman. I took my car in to have the brakes changed. I made an appointment, they said 2 hours to do the work, it took 4. Also when getting my car back they scratched the door all the way through the paint. Besides the door they damaged the car emblem on the trunk. They would not do anything to make this right. Do not take your car here read more

I went in early with the $19.99 oil change coupon, left the keys and told them I'd be back in an hour or so. As I walk into the office an hour and a half later, the boy at the counter runs out the side door to get my vehicle. They let it sit there the whole time. No excuses. Had brakes checked over a month ago. Returned for brake work and they credited back the cost of the break check from the prior month as part of the overall bill. Nice surprise. DON'T EVER GO HERE PLEASE READ....diagnosed problem wrong with my 2002 murcury mountaineer said my fan clutch and belt tensioner was bad that cost couple hundred dollars. That wantsn the problem turns out I need a timing chain that cost thousands and gave me excuse for wrong diagnosis and the fan clutch they put in was defective my car sounded like a trash truck so they replaced it next day only for it to continue to sound like a trash truck. Don't even bother to write a bbb on them either to get you're problem fixed because that's what I did and the only response I got was from Scott the owner at the university Midas not someone higher than him through the bbb. And it's ridiculous that Scott didn't want to reimburse me a measly $100 for gas money that I had to give family and friends to take me and my family to do stuff like shopping and appointments because I didn't want the fan clutch that was still clearly put in wrong to cause further damage.there excuse for the trashtruck noise for the fan clutch was that it was normal that that noise lets you know the fan is working..lol but yet all the other cars on the road don't sound like that.what makes this Midas even worse is that the owner has an explorer around the same year as mine which are made the exact same way because there both made by Ford and said that they know that car well.
