Many years ago I had a coupon for an oil change at this location. I had been here a few times without a problem. However, the last visit, I went home and the next morning I noticed oil on my driveway. I popped the hood and the freaking oil cap was missing! I called the shop to tell them about it. They kind of said "oh... Sorry about that. Did you want to come in the next day?" Well, no I don't want to drive out of my way for 25 minutes for the company's oversight. They wouldn't compensate me either for the cap that I had to purchase from AutoZone. I never went back. From my experience, most places like these don't really care about the vehicles. The staff at Midas is very professional. Richard helped me a majority of the time. My boyfriend noticed that my tires were extremely worn out. I took my car to Midas, and instead of just replacing the tires, they noticed there were other problems that caused it! They replaced my tires and solved the problem that was causing my tires to bald. The weather was extremely rainy at that time and if I did not fix it, it would have probably caused an accident. On Thursday, I received a call from Midas/David letting me know that after an review/audit of the University Avenue locations previous weeks receipts, I had been overcharged by the cashier. The cashier had misread the gas receipt given to him and the money would be refunded to my credit card. He let me know in his text that "This is NOT our practice...". He also included a copy of a response from my Nextdoor post which he included in his text to me). My past experiences would agree with his statement. Living in this great City of San Diego we value our vehicles to get from here to there expeditiously, so I sadly paid. I love feeling good from my experiences in this wonderful life we have all been given. I am happy and grateful for the heartfelt support, insight, and referrals from MY NEIGHBORS IN THE NEXTDOOR COMMUNITY and ecstatic that as of 2/24/24 Midas has refunded $100 of the $125 paid for the 5 gallons of gas! I'm so very disappointed in this place. I've been here many times and have never had a problem. Came here for brakes and tires. They did a great job on the brakes. Now with the tires this is where the problem starts. 4 new tires they are only able install the front because they said the back tire nut is stripped. I tell them ok I will take it to the last place who did my back brakes I take it to the place they tell me no it's fine. MIDAS used the wrong size to remove it Ok back to MIDAS. When I get to MIDAS the next day Richard is not in and Will has no ideal what's going on. I tell Will the the screw is not stipped and can you put the back tires on. He tells me that the machine is not working and has not been working to put my back tires on. And their alignment machine is not working also(I wouldn't have bought the tires if knew all this) they can take it next door to some random shop that is not under MIDAS. So at this point we are going back and forth. Richard was so honest and friendly in the beginning. I guess it doesn't matter how you make the sale. Just sell it. -1 star! read more

Too bad there isn't a less than zero star option. Over a month ago, we made an appointment to have a muffler installed in our 1984 Saab. No problem, bring it in. We arrive on time only to be told they can't provide service that say because they don't have any in stock. OK....will have to hunt one down. Come back when it arrives. Get permission to leave work early, arrive on time again. Muffler can't be installed because 1) there are too many customers ahead of you 2) wrong muffler was sent. What's the value of an appointment if it's not honored? Why weren't we contacted in advance that the wrong part has been shipped? Also, no we can't keep taking off from work to accommodate Midas's schedule! So one month later, yet another appointment where we had to sit and wait over an hour before our car even made it into the bay. Despite having paid in full IN ADVANCE, they attempted to tack on an additional $200 over the $700+ we'd already paid. Expressing our displeasure over this turn of events, it became an "error" on their part. No shit. While sitting in the lobby, we were amazed that every customer's vehicle that came in required new bearings and/or calipers. We're not statisticians but the odds of these occurrences happening seem a bit remote. Up sale to pad the till maybe?? Not expecting much, I showed up at my appointment time and was immediately taken care of, the service was completed before the time expected, and they did an inspection that reports the health of your vehicle and it's partnered with carfax where you're able to know what and when to service your car.
