I've been to this Jiffy Lube on El Cajon Blvd several times for oil changes, and unfortunately my experiences have become more disappointing each visit. One of my biggest concerns is the inconsistency with pricing. Within the past year, I've come here a few times only months apart and have been quoted completely different prices for what should essentially be the same service. I previously paid around $80 for an oil change, but on my most recent visit I was quoted around $120 for an oil change on my four-cylinder vehicle. That big of a price difference definitely made me question what exactly I was being charged for. The shop is also frequently very empty when I come by, yet the employees don't seem particularly motivated or attentive. On more than one occasion, they've tried to check or work with my oil while my vehicle was sitting near the driveway/entrance, which is on an uneven surface. That alone made me uncomfortable with the way the service was being handled. Overall, my issue isn't just the price; it's the work ethic, inconsistency, and lack of professionalism I've experienced here. If you're going to charge customers premium prices, the quality of service and professionalism should reflect that. Based on my repeated experiences at this location, it hasn't. read more

My 17-year-old daughter went in for a standard oil change and specifically requested a regular oil change. Instead of honoring that request, she was upsold by Tim R and Eric R to a "platinum" full synthetic oil change without a clear explanation or informed consent. She ended up paying almost double what a standard oil change should cost. For a young customer who clearly asked for the basic service, this feels misleading and predatory. There was no reason given why the premium option was necessary, and she was not told the price difference upfront in a way that allowed her to make an informed decision. This is not how you treat customers--especially young ones who may not feel comfortable questioning a technician. We will not be returning, and I would strongly caution other parents to be careful sending their teenagers here or young adults considering it's right by a college town. True story. Back in November of '21, my check-engine-oil-soon light came on. I went to make an appointment with my dealership but they couldn't see me until sometime in December. Knowing I couldn't go that long without the change, I drove in to this particular spot because, well, because it was there. The attendant who serviced my car (whose name I forget but he was bald, young and muscular) was incredibly professional. He didn't push any unwanted goods or services on me, patiently explained why they use the oil they do and why I should continue to do so. And that was the end of it. Or so I thought. Here we are in April and the same thing happens. Light comes on, can't get into Ford for three weeks. Go to Jiffy Lube. And guess what? I received the exact same outstanding level of customer service I received the last time. Like Discount Tires, it seems you get quality service and work each every time.
