So obviously, I have not driven very often. But Google, ChatGPT, and the few men in my life told me that I needed to go get an oil change since it had been 6 months. So I went back to oil changers. To my absolute delight they showed me oil that looked freshly changed. No need to change what's already good. They gave me all the tips I need to know for when I need to actually come back and what I can be doing to maintain my car in the meantime. It would have been so easy for them to just take my money and lie to me. It would have been just a normal errand I'd forget about in a few days. But now I will refer everybody to this location because I am so thrilled with that experience on top of already having a positive experience when I DID need an oil change last time. You don't really expect too much from these limited service shops. But the energy here is good. The people here seem to work well together and after today I will continue to come here as long as I live in San Diego.

TERRIBLE DO NOT GET GO HERE! Recently moved to the area and…read moretook my truck in for a routine oil change. I have taken my vehicles to Valvoline for the last 7 years and never had a problem. After the first visit at this location I noticed oil on the street in-front of my home. Upon further inspection I determined that the oil filter had not been tightened down properly and was leaking. I gave this location the benefit of the doubt and went back to have it taken care of. They did. On my next oil change I made the manager on duty aware of the previous hiccup and asked him to make sure that everything was tightened down. Unfortunately he did not... I woke up the next day and found an approximate 2x3 puddle of oil underneath my truck. Once again I determined the oil filter was not tightened down... frustrated I filled a claim. Valvoline sent out another manager. Although this lady was polite she came to my home unprepared. This employee took the oil filter off my truck without any sort of catch can/container to catch the oil and caused MORE oil to pour onto my street. She then proceeded to put another filter on. This employee was on her own and was unable to reach the hood of my truck, she could not even reach the dipstick. I had to provide this employee with my step-stool (truck is stock height). Despite my truck having lost about a quart of oil, she advised my truck needed no additional oil and could be driven. The company sent out a cleaning company but were unable to get the oil stain out. As of recently oil has begun to once again leak from the oil filter. I have checked thoroughly and it is the only place the leak is coming from. Valvoline threw their hands up and told me to "go to a mechanic". My truck is less than 5 years old and never once had an issue until I took it here... I am waiting for a call back from a District Manager "Rhomel". UPDATE: they sent out employees from a different location who corrected the issue, they ADDITIONALLY found that my oil drain plug had been damaged and noted oil was leaking from that location as well.... It appears that a simple oil change was just done so carelessly... They were unable to remove the oil stains at my home leaving my home to look like a dirty mechanic shop. RESPONSE TO "LYNN" WHO STATED "RESOLVED" If you consider leaving me with a permanent oil stain(s) "RESOLVED" then something is wrong... they were 100% unable to remove the oil stains all because of the incompetence and inattention to detail of the employees at Mission Gorge Road location. Stand by Lynn, I'll upload additional pictures of the "RESOLVED" work in a bit... terrible business practices... once again DO NOT GO TO VALVOLINE.

I always do my research, and unfortunately my assessment turned out to be correct even before Allman completed their diagnostics. Mike at Allman spent a great deal of time walking me through different scenarios and options, providing detailed estimates for each. I also requested additional estimates, including a full engine replacement, so I could make a fully informed decision. While their estimate was less than dealership service departments, it was slightly higher than another independent shop. After researching the difference, I found it came down to Allman using OEM parts rather than cheaper aftermarket parts made overseas. I don't use cheap parts on my vehicles, so that made the decision easy. Once I felt fully comfortable, I chose Allman and I'm glad I did. Mike kept me informed throughout the process, and my Jeep was back on the road even earlier than estimated. Thank you, Allman Family Auto, for the honesty, transparency, and quality work.
