Terrible customer service and meaningless "reservations." I scheduled a 9:00 AM diagnostic appointment. By 2:30 PM, nobody had even touched my car. Not looked at it, not moved it, nothing. When I asked why they bother taking reservations if they aren't going to look at the car near that time, the woman at the desk said it was because I had cancelled an appointment earlier in the week. So I asked, "So because I cancelled a previous appointment, you're not going to honor the reservation I made for today?" Her response was simply that they were busy and there were still two cars ahead of mine. So, I don't know, I guess they punish customers who have previously cancelled appts. I said, if you make a reservation at a restaurant for 9:00, you expect to be seated close to 9:00. Her response was basically "that's not always how it is." Then she literally picked up the phone and started taking another call in the middle of our conversation. When I had initially called for an appt, they even offered me specific appt times: 9:00 or 9:30. Why offer specific reservation times if they don't mean anything? No apology. No attempt to fix the situation. No acknowledgment that waiting all day for an appointment you scheduled is unreasonable. Apparently the expectation that a reservation time should actually mean something was somehow my fault. If this shop runs on a first-come, first-served basis, they should say that. Calling it a "reservation" when it clearly isn't is misleading and wastes people's time. read more

Their rates have always been reasonable and I have always found them to be honest. I wanted to give them a shout out today because the owner took a test drive with me today to diagnose an issue that I was having with my vehicle. I'm not talking about an around the block drive, he spent a good 45 minutes of his day with me driving around on a few freeways and the streets of greater San Diego trying to get my car to repeat the issue I had complained about. I don't know of any repair shop that would do that, especially with a garage full of cars that are being worked on. These guys go above and beyond. I strongly recommend getting 3 or 4 estimates from different shops before choosing this place. Young gentleman at the front desk was trying to charge me $1,000 for 2 axles on the passenger side. From what I know there's only 2 axles a front and a rear axle. So how did he come up with 2 axles on the right hand side ? Mind you, he did all this without even putting the car on a jack and checking it out first. I strongly, strongly recommend check out other places before making a final decision & boy am I glad I did. I saved myself a huge amount of money and come to find out the problem wasn't with the axle. It was my HUB that was damaged. I Saved myself over $800. I went and bought the part with the assistance of the mechanic and all he charged me was for the labor. & labor was only 150 & I treated him to a nice lunch for saving me so much money. Again, I repeat myself check out 3-4 shops before finally choosing for this place. I'm only saying out of experience so save yourself some money and time with these guys. read more

Phil is the greatest mechanic perhaps on the planet. He is so good at his craft and their customer service is amazing. Most recently I was selling a 2008 LR to land rover to my nephew. As a precaution I took it into Hongs to double check everything. Turns out the radiator fan was out and I was planning on driving the vehicle to the Midwest on Wednesday. I ordered the radiator fan online to find the best price and it was supposed to arrive on Monday. However the online retailer didn't rush order it and I ended up on Tuesday not having a radiator fan to install the vehicle. Phil dropped what he was doing worked with his uncle to call multiple vendors and actually found a better land rover product at a cheaper price than the online retailer on the same day as I was leaving town. Phil had it installed and tested everything before I left for my road trip all at an amazing price and he did it in less than six hours including sourcing the part and installing and testing. TL:DR - Made appointment week out, dropped car off, returned when service should have been complete, no service done because they didn't order required parts. I called and made an appointment a week out for an oil change and tire rotation. Gave information on make/model of my car. Arrived on the date of my appointment, dropped off the car, and was told it would take about an hour. I returned an hour later to find out that nothing was done to the car. I was told they didn't have the "Right oil" for my car. If I wanted them to do the work, they could order it and I could come back next week. That is the whole reason I called a week in advance and made an appointment, so you could order the parts needed for the service.
