I normally don't give reviews on yelp, but I wanted to write what happened so others can be aware themselves before coming to this Midas. I drove down with my family from Big Bear to an AirBnB house in Indio. On my way to Indio I felt and heard my front brakes crunch metal to metal, knowing my rotor and most likely my brake calipers were bad. I live in LA and did not want to risk driving with these bad brakes from Indio to LA thinking it would be dangerous with my family aboard. So I looked around on Yelp and found this MIDAS right down the street from the AirBnB. I have a 1996 Ford Econoline E-150 van, and I drove it over to Midas. I meet up with Raul who is super personable and easy to speak to. He said to leave the Van at Midas and he'd call me up when he and his mechanics analyze the van. Shortly after, I get a call from Raul, and tells me both front rotors with calipers are shot and I should also change out the back brakes too, since I wasn't on site I had to take his word for it, I had also asked him to fix my 'Emergency Brake Light' because it didn't work any longer, he said 'ok'. The quote he gave me over the phone was $1,585 without tax! I almost fell out of my chair. I asked him if he could lower the cost because I thought that was outrageously high. He said he'd speak to the owner and get back to me. I found a competitor who I called, 'Universal Brake & Alignment', told them the exact parts Raul told me I needed to replace and 'Universal' came back with a quote of $1,085 including tax - out the door. I also spoke to my mechanic in LA and spoke to her about my predicament, she gave me a quote for $885, of course I wouldn't bring it to LA, but I needed to hear a quote from someone I trust who has worked on my Van for the last 2 decades. Raul from Midas called me back and told me his boss would reduce the cost to $1485 without tax. I told Raul of what I had discovered and would have to go back to his shop to pick up my van and take it to his competitor, 'Universal Brake & Alignment' so I can save $400. Raul sounded surprised and he asked to speak to his boss about this information because he wants to keep my business and he'd call me back. Raul calls back and weirdly enough his boss dropped the price to $1,100 - WOW!? I ended up leaving my car at Midas and having Raul and his team fix my brakes. When I went back to pick up and paid $1,100 for my van, there was a cute little old lady selling home made little breakfast burritos from her car in his parking lot. Raul bought 2 for me. I drove the car back to LA. After thinking about what happened, I was happy that I called around and saved myself $400+, but out of principal I felt that I should of taken my Van to the competitor. FYI. My 'Emergency Brake Light' still doesn't work but at least the breakfast burritos were delicious. read more

I really like going to Raul for my two cars. The prices were always extremely high but what could I do I needed the cars. They fixed my cooling system but I'm to date still having problems with it and have no air conditioner. I was charged $1829.88. I took my Ford vehicle because the vehicle smelled of fuel. When I finally got the car back after about one and a half weeks, the car still smelled of fuel. I was charged around $350.00 I took the car back they charged me again although they didn't do any work on the car. Then I took the car again asked them to fix an oil leak. They told me the car wasn't drivable and they tried to get a junk yard to buy it so I gave it to my brother that was about 3 Months ago. They car is still working, he sold it for $500 I took my Buick in for the brakes. I must have paid around$300. The car was making a very bad noice when I stepped on the brake, I took it back and the young man told Raul that I needed the drums. I took it to another automotive shop. They changed the brakes again told me that the brakes that were installed were cheap and didn't need the Drums I'm very disappointed with Raul and Vincent and the new young man they have there. read more

I appreciate Midas soo much! I've been to them before for work on my car, but today I was driving and my tire popped. I continued driving it trying to make it to their shop for a new tire, but I only made it across the street from them at the Walgreens. I called them to ask for help and they drove over to check out my tire. I went back w/ them to purchase a new one and they put it on. I'm still angry about this and it happened 4 months ago. I had a check engine light on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma. I made an appointment and took the truck in to be looked at. After a short review, Midas told me the truck needed a "smoke test" and to bring it in the following day. Which I did. I took the truck in and was told that they would call me when it was complete. I also had asked them to rotate the tires. Closing time was 6:00pm, they called at 5:55 to tell me that they had forgotten to call, but would remain open for 15 more minutes. That was not enough time for me to get there which I told them. So they kept it overnight. I picked up the truck at 8:00 the next morning, paid the bill and drove away. A day later, I noticed that my locking gas cap had been replaced with a non-locking one and my four stainless tire valve caps were gone. There were no tire caps on three of the tires. Going back to Midas to retrieve my valve caps and my locking gas cap got nowhere. The caps and the fuel cap were "gone". They told me that the fuel cap was defective and the valve caps were lost. I don't believe this for a minute. The fuel cap couldn't have been two months old. The missing valve caps is just annoying to me. I'm really an easy going guy, but ineptitude like this just angers me. I hope your service experience is better than mine was. I won't go back. read more

This has become my go-to place for my automotive needs. Raul and the rest of the staff know how to treat the customers, they don't make you feel like you are being hustled for your money. They are honest, which in mechanics is hard to find these days, quick, efficient and always willing to help! I had a loose bolt on an exhaust bracket. These kind folks proceeded to charge me $100 for 5 minutes of actual work putting on one nut and an hour for the car to cool down. About as greedy as it gets but I had to get out of that place. A bit too smart for their own good if you ask me. I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone. I just hope the 5 minutes of work they did holds up. The good news was there was no charge for the nut. Whew! read more

I stopped in this morning to have my Jeep inspected because the battery was being drained. Vincent quickly confirmed that it was the alternator and repaired. Great customer service, although I was a bear and tried to hurry the process he remained very nice, offering to take me home to my dogs and calling to check status of part. Also added Freon to AC. Thank you Vincent for not throwing your hands up and telling me to go to the dealer which would have really screwed up my day! read more

Took our Range Rover and Mercedes in for oil changes. The service was spectacular and the staff was very friendly. The manager who I believe is Raul made us feel very comfortable that we would be taken care of. They didnt try to upsell us anything we did not need. Very professional and courteous employees. So I needed a rear drum brake job on my GMC Sierra and I gave Midas a chance because of other reviews on here . (normally I would go to Ramona tire on Jackson in Indio ) Vincent was super helpful and friendly . The brake job was a better price here plus you get lifetime warranty for the shoes. They resurfaced the drums while Ramona said they couldn't resurface them due to them being warped . Normally I'll do my disc breaks but when it comes to drums nah I'll pass . I'd rather pay and get it done right than getting into something I'm not comfortable doing . (Yes i looked at YouTube videos ) If you're looking for a quote just call . You'll probably be glad you did and get a better price . Only thing that Ramona has on Midas is the better price oil change when you use your Ramona card on semi synthetic. Midas has regular for the same price Ramona gives you the blend . (Which I use for my civic ) and for full synthetic Midas is a tad bit cheaper (which I use for my truck ) Believe me if they ever do me dirty I'll come back and let all you yelpers know . Make sure they have the parts before you go otherwise they will charge you an inspection fee and say they don't have the parts . In my case, they said they had the brakes but not the Roters, not a big deal I didn't think I needed Roters. So I went down there and sure enough Raul Gonzalez said I needed Roters, gonna have to wait til Tuesday. I was in town visiting my parents for the weekend, I couldn't leave the car that long and he charged me the inspection fee because I didn't have the work done.... I explained that I was going to have the brake work done there it's not my fault they didn't have the parts (I couldn't wait til Tuesday). so they placated me by saying I'd get a free oil change next time I was in town. So now I'm back in town , needed an oil change so I called Raul Gonzalez up, now he says I could have the free oil change with the brake job. Well since I had the work done elsewhere I don't need brakes done and that was not explained to me before . I think I'd remember that being a requirement when I had planned to get the work done once I got home . And also FYI Raul, I had the brake work done at a Suzuki authorized dealer they showed me the Roters and they were fine. Beware of the "Midas touch" it's expensive. read more

5,000 miles ago I took my car into Midas for an oil change. They also checked my brakes (yes they did need replacing.....they showed me, and did so), resurfaced 2 brake rotors, removed and replaced the air filter and cabin filter. So 5,000 miles later a friend did my oil change in my driveway. He also checked the air and cabin filters. The air filter, which is easily seen when the hood is raised, still looked great, clean, almost unused looking, BUT the cabin filter which is impossible to see easily; has to be accessed by manipulating the glove compartment and removing part or all of it. The cabin filter was SO filthy! It had many tiny twigs, leaves, and DIRT. Midas tried to say because we live in the desert and the frequent sand blowing it gets that way. The Midas mechanic agreed and said his filter gets very dirty because of the same reason. Midas asked to see the receipt. He said yes it was changed and showed me the part number on the invoice matched the part number on the filter. I was a little embarrassed but my friend was a mechanic and told them no way that filter was changed 5,000 miles ago and if a customer came to him with a filter that dirty after 5,000 miles he'd question if it was ever changed. In the end Midas agreed to give us a new filter. Guess what? The NEW filter's part number matched the part number on the invoice.....just like the filthy filter! So Midas was trying to pull something over on us by comparing numbers. That just proved to me the integrity of the place. IN ADDITION for the "Engine service parts" of the invoice I was charged $45.98!!!!!!!!!! Really????? At Napa, where Midas got the new filter from, the total for both filters is $25.26! Makes me wonder if indeed they used synthetic blend oil and did resurface the brake rotors. The brakes are no longer squeaking though! At least the Midas employee was unfazed by my anger and still respectful. read more

Legally, you have to be informed of any payments you need to make BEFORE your vehicle is worked on/ inspected. Thank you Raul for trying to charge me $40 for the COURTESY break inspection. Don't pay for anything unless they tell you before hand and you sign for it. read more

We have taken our car here for several things and have trusted that what we were told was fixed was actually fixed. We had service done and went back several times with the same complaint with the power steering. We were told every time that there was nothing wrong and there were no leaks, yet we still had fluid leaking on our driveway. We took the car to another shop and asked them to check it out as a courtesy. They found the leak and the pump was also broken. Midas was unwilling to offer any help with this being that they were the ones that originally serviced the power steering. We had to pay additional money to get it fixed. We will not take our car back and do not recommend them. They do not stand behind their work and not trustworthy. read more

After a service there, and brake repair pad replacement, I checked my air cleaner while servicing my air flow sensors. I paid for a complete filter and oil change, but the air filter was not clean, or replaced at all. I have been a customer there for many years, but will never go back after paying for service that was not preformed. Also the rotors that were replaced a year ago have also failed...poor parts?? Bad warranty as well, I had to pay for labor and some parts on failed pads! Terrible! read more
