I didn't hear anything back on 2/20, so I texted him again on 2/22/2025 and stated I had not received his estimate yet. No reply. We were new to the desert and needed a mechanic. I almost did not go with Wrench Monkey because it is still about 30 minutes in a direction I do not frequent but I am so glad that I did! Arthur is the real deal. I have a 2013 Honda Accord that I use for mostly commuting. I noticed that I was having trouble accelerating on the freeway which can be death when those big rigs are coming for me, or at least that's how I felt getting onto the 10 from the 62. On the 2nd day of the acceleration issue, I was too paranoid so I called AAA to tow my Honda to Riverside. My guy said, transmission was DONE and I needed a new one. I called Arthur for a second opinion. I told him what the problem was & what the other shop was telling me. He was apprehensive to tell me much without being able to see my car in person but by the verbiage of the other shop, he knew something didn't sound right. Let me tell you, this shop was trying to get me into a used transmission for some odd 3k and for a new transmission 5k+. The lady who worked the front desk was using scare tactics to make me commit to a new transmission & recommended that I did not drive the car AT ALL. I called AAA and towed the car to Arthur. It was not the transmission at all. Yes, my transmission needed to be serviced, because I had never done it but Arthur had a plan for that. Turned out, I needed new spark plugs. One thing I really like about Arthur is that he does not try to rob you. He gave me a list of things that needed to be serviced for my car and let me know which were urgent and what I could hold off on. With just getting into a new home and having such a long commute, during the surge of gas prices - I needed that help. I really really needed that help. I have taken my car back quite a few times to get caught up on my maintenance. I have had my car since I drove it brand new off the lot and really wanted that new car feeling back. Arthur has not disappointed. He said to me that my car was driving smoother than manteca on a hot tortilla & that man was not lying. I sometimes prefer to get into my Honda rather than my Mercedez because it is such a nice ride. I sent my husband to get his work truck fixed and because of all the modifications he's made, Arthur had his work cut out for him. There was one issue after another, after another & Arthur took this job personally. I truly respect his work ethic. I also sent my sister & my mom for multiple services. My mom is always a "karen" as the youngsters say, and I told her in advance, don't you play with my mechanic or you can't go to him. I meant it. Another thing I like about Arthur is that he has SO much information that he is willing to share. When he tells you what is wrong with the car, he will explain it in detail, how it works, what happens if, what exactly needs to be done, generic or OEM parts/prices, pluses & drawbacks, I mean its endless. I have learned a ton. I get a real kick out of diagnosing my car before I take it to him to see if I am correct. I started to think I was a real mechanic & I may or may not have looked up classes to increase my mechanic skills but that's a story for another day. If you need a legit mechanic, try Arthur. Though it's in a residential neighborhood which looked a little sketchy (White House with fence on the left--easy to miss), it was all good!! We were heading to Palm Springs for vacation coming from the Bay Area. The A/C began to blow warm/hot air, I believe the condenser or valve got punctured during our drive. It was extra stressful because we had our dog with us. Luckily, I found Arthur on Yelp who was beyond compassionate, knowledgeable, and provided excellent customer service. Arthur has not even worked on my car and I still recommend him. Recently I had a check engine light that came on and the code said there was a problem with my No. 4 cylinder. I thought it could be an issue with the spark plug. After pulling the cable off the plug I found oil on it and knew that I had a bigger issue than a bad spark plug to deal with. I called Arthur after seeing his Yelp reviews to see when he could get me in. He said that he was booked out at least a month but explained to me that I had a valve cover gasket that was leaking and needed to be replaced. Arthur told me that the repair wasn't that difficult and after watching YouTube videos I was able to complete the repair mysrlf. I went to Wrench Monkey as they had great reviews. Just needed a top off on Freon. He claimed to have completed the job, even tipped him, but a week later my car stopped blowing cold. I took it to my regular mechanic and mentioned Freon was low. He filled it up and it's been working great for over a month. Didn't fix anything else. Several weeks ago, I had my 2002 Toyota Sequoia towed to Arthur's "shop," which is a house that he works out of. That was fine, given his excellent Yelp recommendations, even though my car was parked on the street. The car would not go into gear, so Arthur replaced parts and it works great. I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra which had the check engine light on for a long time. Both my local mechanic and the Nissan dealer were not able to properly diagnose the issue. My car had been making strange noises that just kept on getting worse. I currently live in Las Vegas but had to drive out to Indio, CA to attend Coachella. I was rather nervous about taking my car, but decided to go for it. By the time I reached Indio, I knew that I absolutely had to get my car checked somewhere locally before driving back to Vegas. I immediately came to Yelp and luckily found Arthur! He works out of his home and is extremely accommodating and friendly! I wish he lived here in Vegas as he would undoubtedly be my go-to mechanic. Unfortunately, my car has some major issues including an oil leak. I recently got my oil changed in Vegas and cannot understand how the mechanics didn't see that there was a leak at the time. Apparently, the oil was pretty much empty! Arthur added as many oil bottles as needed as well as a special additive. He also gave me additional bottles and showed me how to add the oil myself, which has been very helpful! Throughout the process, Arthur explained everything that was going on with my car, which most mechanics never do! While I still have to see a mechanic out here, Arthur pretty much allowed me to make it back to Vegas! He also texted me several times along the way to check on me, which he really didn't have to do but was much appreciated!
