I requested my brake pads be replaced. The price was not close to the first or the revised quote. I understand that it's difficult to give an estimate when you haven't seen the vehicle but really getting close should be the goal, and I get that things happen that can't be controlled like access to parts. But the thing that I couldn't understand was why after coming in so high with the bill this shop added a surcharge for using a credit card, no mention until you put it down to pay. The parts were also an issue.The parts for the rear were available as non Mercedes but front were not so I paid through the nose for the genuine parts but now the rear rotors which are not genuine appear to have a rusty sheen. . read more

Found Permuth Auto Care through YELP. I called the office and spoke with Dominque, he was very nice, friendly and helpful- told him we had bought on line a front grille for our Nissan Rogue. The front left tip of the front grille had come loose, our Nissan dealership said it could not be repaired -it would need to be replaced. When we called the dealership to set up an appt and asked what the charge would be-- they gave us a much higher price then what they had originaaly quoted. We started on a new journey-- to find a reputable auto body shop that would put the new grille on at a fair price, and do a good job. We found the right shop, they were upfront, honest, very fair in pricing. Domenique gave me a price quote. Made the appt for 9:00 am the next morning- the work was done in less than two hours. The owner Jorge is truely a professional, and very talented in his profession, with a happy personallity. Best of all they did an outstanding job and stuck by their price quote. I drove there and instead of walking on the sidewalk, I took a shortcut through some gravel, slipped, fell and tore some skin off my arm and leg. After getting an estimate from this shop they added to it throughout the whole process, I understand that it's difficult to give an accurate estimate without seeing the vehicle so I can't fault them, they had to do it right! The thing I was not happy about was when after increases I was not really expecting, when I was paying they added a surcharge for using a credit card! This I was upset about because it was not disclosed before as part of the estimate. I could have paid cash had I known before hand! I was not happy with that so I told them that and they reduced it considerably but still it could have been avoided so easily. They didn't really want cash, they said, as it's so difficult to deal with, but charged for using a card?? The price reduction was because they use non genuine parts if they are able. Not always the exact same, I noticed the rear brakes rotor has been rusting , cosmetic, but still not what I would have expected. read more

I googled what the issue was and none of the signs were seen. With Permuth being an independent mechanic with high reviews, I took my car here. I called the mechanic shop to get a quote on pricing and they gave me the best pricing I have seen. It was flat fee rate with no hidden charges or misleading pricing. They managed to paint both the front and rear bumpers within 2 days and it matched exactly like my OEM black paint. They even repaired a scratch on my front bumper when it was delivered to my home by the manufacturer. The owners are really friendly and they took great care of my bumpers. Was attracted by the reviews here on Yelp on this shop. 5-Stars. Recently moved to the area so decided to give them a try and dropped my car there. Not sure if I am the unlucky type or if I got a mechanic on a horrible day. Got my car back with (brace yourselves...); body damage (car was jacked up on the body not the frame), brake likes were disconnected from the bracket (car was there for a suspension upgrade), the engine cover and cow were loose inside the engine bay, and to top it all my ride control broken in the back (height sensor in the back axel). Had to take my car to the Dealership because I did not trust the service. And thank god I did. The Torque specs were completely off. Not a Single Bolt was torque properly, very dangerous stuff. I mean... Where are those 5-star reviews coming from? Do people reviewing this shop not know about cars and you can't tell good from bad technical service? The people there were good. Owner seems like a legit likable guy. But I just can't recommend this shop. read more

The only drawback as a customer is that Permuth is always busy due to their excellent work. I'm always short on time so I have taken my car to other shops that leave me regretting my decision. Stay away from Firestone, Midas and Noe's. They aren't trustworthy or they are just incompetent and or both. read more

Took my Mazda 6 in for a new serpentine belt and idler at about 105,000 mile on the odometer. They replaced with good parts and showed me the old parts and offered to give them to me. Then I drove the car on a 2500 mile road trip. No problems at all. The shop doesn't look that great, but, they did a great job for me. Can't judge a book by it's cover.
