Driving down from Portland to stay in the high desert for a few months and visit with my dad, the transaxle in my 2007 Prius mysteriously blew a bearing. It was a super stressful drive and I thought I was going to have to write the car off as a total loss after Googling the cost of replacement (the individual parts can't be fixed). Well, it's hard enough to find a shop that knows hybrids AND will replace a transmission (the dude at the dealership couldn't even give me a quote), but they were also willing to do a used one, and at a reasonable price! Since then I've driven my car hundreds of miles around the desert (including up that grade to Yucca nearly every dang day) and now back to Portland and it drives beautifully. We were preparing for a long road trip and wouldn't you know that pesky service light came on. We had been in to the dealership a few weeks earlier for the same issue but mysteriously the notification turned off just before our service. We tried to get an appointment at the same dealer but there was nothing online and no response to my voicemail. Enter Performance Plus. I found them on Yelp based on customer reviews. They got me in the next day, diagnosed the problem, and got it fixed the same day. The cost of service was reasonable and I didn't get the hard sell for additional service. They were nice to deal with, knew their stuff and a good value. What more do you want? No problems on the road trip btw. read more

Terrible experience. I took my classic Alfa Romeo for clutch replacement. I took the car here because they said they could do the work. After 2 weeks of calling virtually every day to get an update, they hadn't even started the work. I had to tell them where to get the parts. A month later, the clutch was finally replaced, but now the vehicle won't start and there's a fuel leak. I just had fuel lines replaced prior to bringing it to them, plus the car was running fine except for the clutch. Never again. Next step is filing a complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair and then to small claims court. read more

Returned this week to have work done that had had been discovered in a previous diagnostic test but I guess new ownership is not obligated to keep the diagnostic database of a business they buy, which I (guess???) I understand so they offered me a $149 diagnostic test for a problem that had been diagnosed WHERE I WAS STANDING. And then said that there are a lot of rats around chewing wires. Some automotive shops have you make an appointment, and leave you sitting for an hour before taking your car back. Not Performance Plus. I had a 10:30 appointment and my car was taken back by 10:45! Not only were they fast, but they were able to do my full synthetic oil change for half what my regular mechanic charges. Fair warning, they have two very large dogs who are very imposing looking, but no need to worry. They're big babies who like closing doors read more

Hi everyone, I came here a couple of months ago with an evap issue I paid over 700 dollars and wasted a lot of time for nothing to get fixed my car was last priority to them and on top of that. I got a call for a replacement of a canister that didn't even need to be replaced and when it did get replaced they erased the code and they told me to wait and see if the code doesn't comeback I went probably about 6 times after that and they kept my car each time and at the end of the day nothing was ever fixed the most they would do is erase the code and it always came back. read more

Beth and her team are awesome. Customer service is amazing and friendly. Typically I don't like waiting while my car is being serviced, but I enjoyed chatting while I waited and my car was ready in no time. They know their way around any type of vehicle it seems. I have a BMW EV, I hate going to BMW because they always say they have to keep the car for a day or two, and expensive. Parts for my car were $179, and labor was $1,000. REALLY !!! I went to pick up the car, and while waiting, the front office person told me the mechanic had broken a part of the thermostat, and now he had to order the part. Going to take another 2-3 hours. It was already 5:00 pm. I feel the person at the front was direct, not caring, and replied to me, "Oh well, things happen." I will never take my car here again. We have brought two vehicles here since we moved to to the desert 5 years ago. This week we had several bad experiences with a gentlemen working the front desk. He's rude incompetent, and unbelievably unorganized. He couldn't even find a record of servicing my vehicle from only s few days ago. He also tried telling us any warranties were voided because someone new is driving the vehicle even though the title hasn't changed. So unfortunately I will be leaving this shop a negative review here are my reasons. 1. Went in for a simple oil change 40 dollars no biggie they immediately found that my filter was dirty needed to be replaced that's fine I did it no big deal. The reason for my review is that they flat out lied. They informed me that the technician said my belts were cracked and needed to be replaced also my axle boot was torn and leaking not true my mechanic who replaced it saw it and actually took photos it was completely normal and did not need to be replaced he also looked at my belts and were new they were not cracked. They scared me beyond belief thinking my car was so messed up when that wasn't even the case. They do this because they want to scam woman into scaring them to say something is wrong when in fact it's not to get money. If it were not for my normal mechanic I see and the man I love looking out for me I would become there victim and would scam me till I spent over 700 dollars to replace this that was not even necessary. Shame on your shop for scamming people like this other reviews say the same thing wish I would have looked at the reviews before I waisted my time and money. read more

This place is my new go to. Since I'm new to the area it was (and always is) tricky to find a mechanic that feels honest, skilled and trustworthy. I brought in my 2009 Prius because some scary lights popped up abruptly (ABS, parking brake, the exclamation, AND the maintenance light) along with a never ending beep. The brakes, which we're recently done were behaving oddly and it was definitely not a great feeling. After some cursory research it appeared it would be either the ABS modulator or the ABS actuator - parts running between $350 to $1800 BEFORE labor. So I knew there would be pain. The friendly staff manning the desk got me in for my diagnostic (new clients from Yelp get 10% off!!) and later said that it was most likely the actuator. With labor, roughly $2800 - however they could try to flush the system first and that "might" fix it. It would add around $100 ish overall if that didn't do the trick. I asked what the percentage of my chances of it being that easy and was told about 20-30%. I thought it was a gamble worth taking and got the happy news that I really am that lucky - for less than $300 all my scary lights, funny brake activity and stress went away. But there fact that they were even inclined to suggest it, with realistic odds, explain the whats and why's to me and, in the event that it was the actuator were willing to accept a part I purchased myself (although they then cannot obviously warranty that part) tells me that they are striving to do their best by their clients, in the most honest and cost effective way. You truly can't ask for anything more from any service provider, but especially from your mechanic. read more

A great experience from initial contact to completed service. I have a BMW i3REX. The small Range Extender motor was due for an oil change and I wanted to go anywhere but the dealership. But had concerns about there being an EV experienced tech. So I turned to yelp and Performance Plus messaged me in no time flat. I called the next day and Beth was super helpful and even squeezed me in the very next day. Just before taking the car in the engine light came on and I thought it might be related, but Beth suggested they run a diagnostic at a very reasonable price. I'm so glad that they did, she found that there had been a recall that I was not aware of and even gave me the paperwork for me to take to BMW. A piece of my car fell off when I was driving back from Joshua Tree. I am, as it turns out, not a car person, so I had no idea what was going on other than my car was making an awful noise. I called Performance Auto and they got me in the next day to check things out. They put my car on the lift and saw that the oil filter cover had come loose, so they put a few screws in to hold it in place and had me on my way in about ten minutes.
