A shop in in Indio told me it was my condenser with an estimate of 550. to repair . J&E found it to be a compressor clutch adjustment at one fifth the price. Been taking my car there for a few years now and that is the only place I will now take my . Vehicle. They recognize me by now and use my name. They also make me feel welcome by small talk and it's meaningful. They're not just small talking to make you feel like they have to make you feel like your valued customer. they treat you like a family member and they are a family business. Pricing is reasonable. I've had alternator work and transmission work. My little Toyota is returned to me feeling like it's brand new . Service is quick you drop your car off and they usually end up calling you within a day to tell you it's . They have picked me up and dropped me off when I didn't have proper transportation. And they've been generous to let me store my car an additional day until I could pick it . The only drawback is that there is not a lot of space there. All the AAA tow truck drivers no John very well and they always recommend them. I have been a AAA member since I can remember and I value every recommendation they have . My son-in-law used to own his own mechanic shop and had to use JNE for my daughter's vehicle and he said they were awesome and that started me to use them. read more

Im not a customer but today I stopped in the middle of the road to help an elderly man because his car had suddenly stopped. I helped him get his car running again and i stayed with him to calm him down because he was anxious and very scared it would happen again. I could tell he was freaking out because he couldn't figure out how to unlock the door from the inside, his age is most definitely catching up to him and you don't need to see him to know that. Anyway, he called this shop to ask about coming in and I don't know who picked up the phone but that person was being a legit asshole and very condescending for no reason, I heard the entire conversation and there was no need to talk to him like that. I know not a single normal person would like someone talking to their grandpa or elderly father this way. At one point the gentlemen passed me the phone and as I was explaining the situation I got the same treatment. I personally don't care for how he treated me but have some damn respect for your customers and elders, I don't care how annoying you find them. Whoever was on that phone was very unprofessional and I really hope he takes my advice and goes with somebody else. read more

I used to have a business next door to J & E and the guys were always so friendly, so even though I've moved down the street, I decided that I would go there when I was having major problems with my truck's AC, etc. I had to change out the evaporator, heat box, coils, etc. which was pretty costly. Since my husband was on hospice and I was really hurting financially, John did everything he could to work with me and help me out. I can't believe I forgot to do this review months ago when John worked on my truck, but I'm having another issue now which reminded me and I intend to take my truck back in there this week. I feel reassured when i bring my car to J&E, they are not there to price gouge you and they keep in constant contact. They also do a great job explaining the issues so a non-mechanic can understand. Amidst all the positive reviews here, I feel compelled to give my cautionary tale about J & E. We had been loyal customers for many years and thought they were straight shooters until... We brought our car in because we noticed a very strong gasoline smell. They advised us that it was a $1,200 job of replacing the fuel injectors. So being the trusting fools we were, we went ahead with their diagnosis and had the work done. Fast forward a week. The gasoline odor returns, just as strong. Turns out the gas cap's rubber seal had cracked and when the tank was full, gas was escaping causing the smell. A $7 gas cap was all that was needed....no, my mistake, it was a $1,207 gas cap. Yes I should have checked the gas cap, but we trusted them and honestly, I just didn't think of it at the time. But that's no excuse for fleecing us. Thanks J&E. NEVER AGAIN. Yes they are capable mechanics, but are they honest? I have serious doubts about that. We will never return. Hope that $1,200 was worth it fellas. read more

We had gone to J &E for many years. I liked the original owners. Happy all the previous reviewers had such wonderful results. John worked on my car for the cost of over $1,000 and never found the problem causing it to die in traffic. He just threw up his hands, never offered to refund any of the money. He volunteered to buy it from me for $100 and work on it for himself in his spare time. In frustration, I sold it to somebody else for practically nothing, but more than $100. John will never get his hands on another car of mine. Incidentally, the person who purchased my car repaired it himself. read more

My wife and were on vacation from Sacramento coming into the Rancho Mirage/Palm Springs area. On the way down we began experiencing some severe car trouble but managed to make it safely into town. We didn't know of any repair places in the area but J&E came highly recommended so we thought we would try them out. We couldn't have been more impressed! They had amazing customer service! John was incredibly helpful and found the part we needed that very same day. They were able to get us into their line up right away and even dropped us off back at our vacation home during the repair AND picked us back up once the repair was completed (which only took a few hours!)!
