EXCELLENT SERVICE-- I recently purchased a previously owned 2019 Porsche 718 Boxter convertible. Abe and Johanna, at Autobahn Garage were recommended to me by one of our close neighbors that owned a 911 Porsche, as well as by another neighbor. They both verified the integrity of the staff. So I brought my 718 in for an inspection, spark plug and air cabin filter service. While servicing my car, they noticed that one of my rear stabilizer bars was loose and the other was completely disconnected. So they fixed the problem for free. The total invoice for the entire service was reasonable and slightly less than they originally quoted. On my second visit for service, they thoroughly inspected the vehicle again along with replacing my drive belt, changing the oil, oil gasket and filter, along with the engine filter. I was provided the old drive belt, and shown the cracking, due to age, and they explained that the next belt change shouldn't be necessary for another 60,000 miles. Tried to rip me off for over $4600 when there was nothing wrong with my car. His supervisor David told BAR that he was going to ask to have a full refund of my $179 but owner lied, said he didn't know anything about that even though he said in the next breath that the assistant told the BAR agent that he didn't have the authority to do that. He knew all about it. I did not receive the refund check from him for the fraudulent activities that I spoke to him about last month. I will be filing a claim in small claims court for the full amount. the judge will be getting a copy of the full BAR report. read more

When a broken drive belt on my VW Golf left me stranded in the middle of a trip from Phoenix, it was bright spot in a bad that I found Autobahn Garage. The guys there were very friendly and helpful. They were able to get the car in that day, evaluate the problem and get the parts ordered. I did have to stay the night in Indio, but the guys at Autobahn even directed me to a place to hang out and stay out of the heat while I waited for the work to be completed. Since I was traveling with my dog, this was a huge help. Work on the car was completed when they said it would be, and I had zero issues for the remainder of my trip. read more

MB I had stored for a year wouldn't start and I accidentally had it towed here. They wanted $1300 to diagnose non-start and then replace fuel pump...after it starts they call back and want an additional fee to check why won't go into gear. I first had to explain did you check transmission fluid, I had to train them on how to check the level with a dip stick for this year. It's just need fluid. They gave $5k qoute for services due based on mileage gave me the car back. The front tire was dangerous low....they didn't add air, the radiator was very low almost ran hot. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE UNLESS YOUR DESPERATE AND YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE AND DONT EXPECT THEM TO LOOK OUT FOR YOU. I don't think they have star or Xzentry read more

Engine light came on in my old VW Rabbit. My mechanic wouldn't touch it. A couple of "European Car..." places in town wouldn't answer my call. I decided to try Autobahn. They picked up the phone, made an appointment and even took the time to talk about my trip to LA that weekend. Super helpful. When they did look at it, they quoted a price that was half the worth of the car. Didn't go through with it and traded in the car for a newer one. Even though I didn't get the repairs done, the service was so good that I will have them on my list for anything that goes wrong with my latest VW. Abe the owner and Caesar the manager were our hero's on what very well could have been a horrible day by doing a same day leaking coolant and thermostat sourcing and repair. As my Dad and I started our road trip from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas to move me into my senior year of college, we just left Indio going on the 10 East when our car was leaking coolant and overheating. After getting towed to their great shop we arrived around 3pm. They went above and beyond and we're able to not only source a new thermostat but quickly and properly fix the car up and get us back on the road at 7 pm. Not only did they work past their closing time for us but made the overall experience very calming. There's no place I'd rather bring my car to then them. My car start oil leaking, spiking RPMs and show engine light. I call service, and told all concerns, representative said it will cost 140$ for diagnostic, but I should wait 2 weeks. I waited, came and then service said it will cost me 300$ bucks for diagnostic, cause engine light and oil leaking is two different concerns, lol. And the also added some staff on 11$ without explanation. Looks like representative have no idea how cars working and car always show engine light if something happening, especially oil leaking. Not recommend this service, they all about to charge you the money with unskilled staff. read more

H O N E S T, honest, honest! I came out to the desert from LA a couple weeks ago with a very well maintained 2012 BMW Z4. On the drive - at about Beaumont - I got the dreaded "low water / coolant" light ... the very last thing you want to see out in the desert ... FAR away from my beloved Sherman Oaks BMW mechanics Jim and Demitri. So - as always, I looked to Yelp to help me find another European car mechanic in the desert that could repair my car. No one could take my car immediately - but these guys could schedule me in a couple of days (they are REALLY BUSY). They kept our car a couple of days ... ran multiple tests ... and in the end found nothing and charged us a totally reasonable fee for running all their diagnostics!! I was SO skeptical - to the point of not trusting them. Well ... guess what ... I have had no problems or leaks since. Car has been perfect! Lesson learned. These guys know their stuff, diagnose correctly - and will NOT charge for unnecessary repairs! They are my new desert European mechanics ... and recommend them highly. Tip: They are located in what I think used to be the TKB deli ... or certainly close by. Extremely clean shop. read more

Autobahn may want to think of themselves as a reputable shop and one that offers exceptional service. But in reality, they are no more than what may come to mind of a neighborhood friend mechanic that will do what you have diagnosed to be done. I would not recommend them to work on your car unless you know exactly what's wrong and how to fix it. Otherwise, they will take you and your money for a ride. In other words, a crook. I could not believe one of their employees had the courage to blame me because they couldn't find the problem as to why my check engine light was on, and the work they recommended to correct the problem didn't resolve anything except made my problem worse. Then they charged me over $400 for not being able to correct the problem after having my BMW for 2 days and suggested that it would cost more to do more analysis to determine the cause of the check engine light. I forgot to mention that when I brought my car to them, I was quoted $130 for analysis of the car to determine the codes and then to determine next step. So, what happened to their claim? Crooks.... Not a good shop. read more

Took my car in for a B service. They charged me for a B service which includes a brake component inspection but they didn't include the B in the service. They added another line item and another charge for this inspection when it should of been included. No greeting when I came in. Obviously they are not interested in ensuring I will be a return customer. They quoted the brake job after I agreed to their quote. When I came it is was more than what they quoted. His reason for not calling for my approval was because he wanted to get my car done quicker instead of waiting for authorization of the higher price than quoted. Also B service included all fluids check. My washer fluid wasn't checked and is still empty. They didn't even take them time to get all the old brake dust off my wheels and calipers, just slapped on new parts. Should of just took it to the dealership. It would of been the same price. I checked. Never again will I go here or recommend them. FAIL. read more

I advise anyone to avoid this shop Recent visit to Palm Desert had me wanting to have the front shock mounts replaced on a R129 Mercedes 500 SL. Calling a few shops to find someone familiar with these cars and who was aware of the simple and less time consuming process of replacing the mounts without removing the struts ( explained on numerous Mercedes online forums and done on other cars I have owned). Speaking with this shops owner he claimed he was aware of simplicity of the job and provided a reduced quote of $440 for the complete job and we scheduled the job to be done at 8:00 AM Monday. I arrived at Autobahn shortly before 8 and the shop was open but an unprepared, staff just rolling in, service writer ,unaware of the job, parts not ordered and completely unaware of the reduced quote. The owner was off and my time was limited so I assumed the $100 difference in the quote would be worked out the car was left with the service writer saying he would call me as soon as the job was completed. At 3:30 in the afternoon no call had been received and I called to get updated, I was told " oh ya , job was just done and mechanic is on a test drive" . I advise that I would pick the car up at 8:00 AM the next morning. Arriving at 8:00 again the shop was not prepared , work order not completed , car was not accessible , until staff rolled in at 8:15. Work order was finally presented (not corrected to match quote) and increased by another $45. I paid the invoice and advised that I would follow up with the owner direct. Getting into my car I confirmed that the mounts were replaced but when I checked the mileage it was confirmed that the car was not taken on a test drive, walking back into the shop I questioned both Service writers that contrary to their words that car was not test driven and should any shop perform suspension work without a test drive. They both just nodded their heads and wanted to avoid the issue. Realizing that their statement "my car was on a test drive" was false and the lack of concern once advised them of the fact the car was not tested is enough to forget this shop. Anyways the owner did reach out to me later in the day, and claimed that I was mistaken about the quote,and then accused me of trying to get something for nothing ( knowing full well the work order was paid in full that morning ) . I realize things happen and there will always be misunderstandings but this owner had no interest in being reasonable, no concern about how I saw his shop operate. But he was good and quick at accusing a customer of trying to get something for nothing. I would ask anyone if they would or could recommend a shop that performs suspension work on a car without a test drive, let alone ignore a quote. I assume the owner will now write some response blaming the customer ( me). Hopefully this review saves someone frustration. read more

Wife's MINI's battery was dead - or so I thought it was just that- Turned out it was worse - These guys were very patient, very thorough, explained WTF happened, and really put me at ease fixing this very temperamental car. After taking my car for repairs and an oil change. I had requested an oil flush and oil change along with brakes. I specifically, gave them 9 quarts of oil, knowing its a 8.5 quart job for the S85. I had told them that I wanted a sample of the oil the next oil change. For the work done 1 star. For leaving an open bottle of oil labeled sample and not bothering to check if they even tightened it properly, negative 4 stars. While they wrapped the bottle in plastic if the seal is bad on the bottle and you don't check its worthless. The response I got was first I was mistaken and had requested the oil sample this time around. Then I was told well it was on your statement. Even though, I had picked up my car during my lunch hour and drove straight to work. No one actually informed me of an open oil quart in the car as I had paid and left to go back to work. As such, i get out of work...car smells of dirty oil and front seat and carpet are also covered in dirty oil. I was offered a car wash after they finally realized they had messed up even though I was initially its my fault. I spent 1600 that day and given i just purchased that M5, I would have likely spent thousands at that shop in the future restoring it and maintaining it. For the lack of customer service and that response, I will never go back to that shop and wanted to post this. read more

I was driving down the highway just an hour after I got my oil changed at a different shop in Riverside when my car's undercarriage cover almost flew off . Autobahn took my car in right away despite it being late in the afternoon and having a full schedule. They look over the car, found and repaired an oil leak, then secured the undercarriage cover back in place. Total time at the shop: less than 40min! My boyfriend found Autobahn Garage based on reviews to take our BMWs for service. Mine, being a 2011 was up for multiple services that are beyond my knowledge (bf is the car enthusiast). There are some things I knew needed to be replaced and I noticed a difference when I got my car back. We took my car in to get the air filter and 80k mileage check up along with other things and we were told that the break pads should also be replaced. We had to make a separate appointment for that one but both times Autobahn services my car, the customer service was top notch. They also offer military discount which is amazing considering their prices are already affordable. I was always told not to get a European make bc it's expensive maintenance but with autobahn garage it definitely doesn't feel that way. read more

I am flabbergasted at all the positive 5 star reviews. I brought my car in for a service engine light. Took then 4 days to call me and tell me what was wrong. I was busy on a project and didn't need the car but come on 4 days? Then I had to leave it over the weekend because they had to "order" parts. The bill was steep but they found a few things wrong. Ok, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Next time I hear from them it's "When are you going to pick up your car?" What the hell? How about calling me and telling me it's ready? So one week later I go to pick up my car. I walk in sit down and wait 20 minutes for the guy behind the counter to even acknowledge me. Once he does prints off my bill, takes my CC and no explanation of anything, not even a smile or a thank you for your business just sign here and shoves the invoice at me. So I go out to the car and wonder for the money they charged (over 1000.00) I should at least see my defective parts they billed me for. I went and asked for them and it took them another half hour to "dig them out of the garbage" he says. Now generally car shops usually show you or give you the parts not these guys they had to dig them out of the garbage. Even when I got them the defects were barely evident and on one piece a hairline crack that I wondered if it needed replacing at all. They only gave me a tepid explanation of what was wrong, what the fix would do for me and was rude, aloof, indifferent and gruff with no people skills whatsoever. I will not take my BMW here again I will find somewhere else. I was not at all impressed and their customer service was horrible. read more

I took my BMW there for an oil change and a "Service engine soon light." I didn't have a ride home so I asked if I came early, could they get the car in first and I would just sit, read a book and wait. They said, "sure," just get there by 8:30am, which I did, At about 1pm, I went in and said, "you guys haven't even touched my car, it's still sitting in the front." The guy in the front says, "Oh, you'll need to leave it overnight and take a Uber home." That was the first peice of BS. To make a long horrible story short - the next day a non-certified BMW mechanic took my car back and reallty F&%$# it up. When I got it back, the car ran rough and as I was driving home, my Coolant light came on and the hose busted and all the Coolant leaked out and the car over heated. I was able to get home but had to call a tow truck to take the car back there, They said that was just a coincidence. NOW, I was vested and insisted a BMW certified Mechanic only work on it. They denied any responsibilty of the issues and were assholes when I would ask reasonable questions They said leave the car here for a couple days and we will check everything out. Another Uber ride home and no car for 2 days and they had the arrogance to send me another estimate of $3,200.00 to fix it. I had no choice BUT to agree to it and pay it. What was a girl to do? Abe, the Owner, has a smooth trusting demeaner but I think that's all BS too, I never had any problems with my car, now it leaks oil, the idol runs high and I guess I'll just have to trade it in on a new car. I can't trust it anymore. They had the nerve to say, "leave the car here again and we'll fix it all up this time. I asked what that would cost me and Abe said between $5,000 to $6,000. This is my 2nd time dealing with this Company! My wife's car had a gasoline smell FOR 4 WEEKS! Abraham said come on by. Well, my lazy butt didn't until the car eventually wouldn't turn over. Diagnosis....Bad fuel pump! Abraham tells me it's going to cost $3k to fix it (because of some special zero emission car My wife has) but if you take it to the dealer it will be free because it's covered under warranty! Now, it's a 2008 vehicle. I'm like it's covered under warranty? He's like yeah, for 15 years/150k miles. I'm like ok - that's awesome! So, I bought him & his wife a $100 gift certificate to the La Quinta Cliffhouse restaurant. I told him that I believe in Karma & I know it will come back to you! He said it already has! :) Great people there! Good for them & the 5-6 times I have walked into their office, they're ALWAYS busy! Very reasonable & honest!!! read more

Haven't lived in the desert long, but lucky to find these people right away. Doesn't matter if it's brakes or oil change, I like brining my car to someone I trust. When I called around for an oil change, they weren't the cheapest or the closest, but I immediately felt at ease speaking with the woman in the office. When I had my car in, the mechanic brought me in the shop to show me some things on the car and I couldn't believe how clean their shop is - there are restaurants that should be so clean.
