The folks here at Midas are great. They are friendly and helpful and don't try to sell you things you don't need!! I highly recommend them.

I brought my car in because my brake light was turning on every time I made a turn -- uh oh! Brought it to Midas and they got my car fixed and ready to go. Why they get 5 stars for this? First, they set expectations -- we'll get to it at X time and see what's up. They called me and explained what they'd found and something else that I'd thought was wrong but hadn't mentioned it. They explained in layman's terms what was wrong, what they were charging and what my options were. When I explained that I needed my car by Monday (they're closed Sunday) they stayed an hour passed closing to make sure I had my car in time for work Monday. These guys are friendly, hard working, and will definitely have my business from here on out. read more

Today I found my self stranded in a parking lot near their location. Out of no where, my car would not start. I called Midas, explained my situation to Michael the manager, and within minutes he came to my rescue. He tried a couple different things to get it working, and finally it started. I asked to follow him back to their shop to pay and he said you don't owe me anything. He gave me advice on what the possible problem could be and sent me on my way. Much appreciated! These guys are amazing, they saved me thousands of dollars today, and may have saved a life! My daughter is looking to buy a first car, she found a nice looking car she really liked, so we took it to the team at Midas for a pre-purchase inspection, and thank God we did. Joe and the team found all sorts of things wrong, and not just little things, turns out this car was a death trap. 4 shops told me I had no brake issues, even though I was hearing squealing often. They were the first one to agree with me, and replaced my brakes, also found my rear diff fluid needed to be changed, as well as my transfer case fluid. When I asked they do the rear diff and brakes, but I would do the transfer case, they said no problem, and didn't mind I wanted to do it myself to save a few bucks read more

Manager Mike Nidas and his crew took us for a very very expensive ride when we entrusted them to install a rebuilt engine for us after our factory head gasket blew. For this complex and expensive job, we spent more to have it done at a Midas because of the size of the company and the [not honored] national warranty. During the engine replacement service, Midas technicians disconnected and removed the transmission from our vehicle and its old engine and supposedly reinstalled it correctly with the new engine. Less than 100 miles later our transmission overheated and self-destructed catastrophically shredding the internal components. Before bringing the car to midas I consistently fully serviced the transmission since the car was new, including high quality ATF and filter replacements ahead of schedule. When we dropped it off the transmission had relatively low miles, clean and perfectly level fluid, shifting perfectly, and was comfortably between service intervals. It never even had a hiccup previously. Mike refused to take any responsibility for the transmission failure, claiming we had just been the victims of coincidence or bad luck. With so much already just spent on the new engine and install, we also had to completely rebuild the transmission at our own expense. And the gut-punch - The Engine install was a complete failure, within a short distance after the transmission debacle, our new engine quickly overheated and self destructed (major expensive headgasket failure). The engine builder claimed faulty install and Midas claimed it was a faulty engine. We were left back at square one with a badly broken engine and no warranty support. Mike refused to take responsibility, and we suffered massive financial loss after loss when we trusted this Midas. I tore down the engine myself afterwards to diagnose the failure and fix it (I am a skilled but not certified auto mechanic). I found that Midas had failed to notice the cause of our original head gasket failure and reinstalled a failed coolant manifold between the radiator lines and engine block. This caused coolant to leak out when the system was pressurized on the road and subsequent flash overheating and headgasket failure. I replaced the headgasket (a major expensive repair) and the failed coolant manifold myself at my own expense. At least the engine builder showed a little pity and gave me the replacement gasket kit, but Manager Mike Nidas at Midas had apologies but no mercy. Steer Clear! read more

I got the best service here! Honest, great customer service, and seemed like they actually cared. I was able to have my car completed with a new battery, wires, and spark plugs in two hours from dropping my car off that wouldn't start. Joe was the one who worked on my car and I can't remember the woman's name that helped me but they both gave the best customer service, were friendly and awesome. I've only been in a few times, but each time I've been treated in a very professional and honest matter. I'm a new driver and as my current car is my first vehicle I've ever owned I don't know much yet. However, both Mike and Joe are very helpful, kind and knowledgeable. These guys take the time to show you how everything works and what the exact reason is behind why you are having an issue. I've been to a few other places in the area that made me feel like I was being talked down to and just throwing away unnecessary money for things that didn't need to be fixed. I've never felt this way here and they have always made time for me even when I wasn't able to make an appointment and get my vehicle back in a timely matter. I rarely ever write yelp reviews let alone positive ones, however I figured other people needed to see a positive review so they can experience a good visit with a repair shop :) read more

I was astounded at the service I received today by Anna and the Midas crew. I had a brake light out, went to NAPA (off 212 & 82nd) and was referred to this Midas to have the light installed. I didn't call ahead and only had 1/2 an hour before another appointment. Anna said I'd have plenty of time as it would only take 10-15 minutes to fix. Anna was professional yet friendly, and made the wait interesting and entertaining. After informing me my car was ready (after only 7 minutes) and that there was no charge for the installation, I inquired about their oil change prices and policies. Needless to say, I made an appointment and can't imagine going anywhere else. Kudos to Anna and the Midas crew! read more

Worst experience ever... They are now trying to get bad reviews removed, such a dishonest company! First off I started calling explaining that I needed brake pads and rotors turned and that was it. The guy on the other end said no problem I'll schedule for 1300 and it'll be and hour. Well I arrived from the airport for my 1300 appointment and then the guy tells me he first has to do an inspection for an hour then we could discuss maintenance options, then depending on what was needed for repairs it could take as little to additional hour. So the one hour quote time of 1 hour turned to minimum of 2 hours. I've worked in the industry and know what the issues was as it was just front pads. He was trying to do an inspection in order to sell more repairs of which my vehicle didn't require. If he was honest about the inspection up front I never would've wasted my time driving from the airport to Milwaukie. I found a reputable competitor down the street that did the job I asked for half the cost that Midas quoted. Do yourself a favor a steer clear of this mess! Good luck! read more

I used to think this was a good place to go, but my last few experiences were terrible. One problem they claim was fixed is still not working. However, the worst was them telling me I needed new brake pads, rotors and even calipers. I was suspicious because I had replaced the brake pads recently. So I took it to another professional mechanic who is a friend of mine. (I normally don't go to him, because he won't charge me for labor and I don't like to take advantage). Turns out, the pads had almost 50% left on them. One rotor was slightly warped, but had plenty left to resurface it. As far as the calipers, nothing was wrong. This would have cost me over a $1,000 to fix had I just listened to Midas. Do not take your car here. read more

Was driving from LA to Massachusetts via Portland. Sunday, drove over a curb and broke something in exhaust. Awful noise. Monday morning, stopped by here to try to get it fixed before the long trip home. Was expecting to get hosed, but instead they fixed the problem right away at a very reasonable cost! This review is long overdue. Midas has consistently been honest and fair in all of our dealings. We most recently had a very large issue with our Subaru, and weren't sure weather to fix or just trade it in. They showed me the issues, offered options about what could possibly wait, what couldn't, and even a number for a place to get used tires. When I was worried about cost they reminded me of coupons on their web site, and gave me additional ones as well. I feel we are treated with courtesy and respect, and our time and money are valued. read more

It's unfortunate that I have to write this negative review, but be warned before you bring your vehicle to this business. The other reviews on here are similar to my experiences. I wouldn't return to this shop, even if they paid me for the service. I first came to this shop out of convenience. I live less than a mile away and I work out at the gym next door. The employees seemed friendly and were really great about letting me drop off my keys and they'd bring them back to the front desk at the gym so I could come pay my bill after working out and I'd be on my way. Awesome. On my first visit I had an oil change and my total was $45-$50. It was unfortunate that they didn't top off my wiper fluid and do all the little hat tricks that several other shops do. But again, it was SO convenient. On my second visit, I had a headlight out. Sure they could replace it, they said, easy and no problem. When I came back to pay my bill the total was $93. The oil change had gone up by a few dollars, the headlight was far more expensive than it should have been and they then informed me that a third service had been done which they were REQUIRED to perform and I now had to pay for it. Really? Required by whom? I've never heard of any shenanigans like this before. I'd also asked them to rotate my tires and the manager, Mike, explained to me that, by law, they couldn't be rotated because they were so worn down BUT he could order me some new tires and replace them for me in just a couple of days. I paid my bill and swore to never go there again. Then was visit #3, the one I swore against. It was an emergency. I woke up to a dead battery and after changing that out my car was driving funny on my way home from work and had me in a panic. I called my brother who is a mechanic and he said to stop somewhere and see if they can plug in their machine that will run the diagnostic codes and see if we can identify the problem. I swung by Midas, out of convenience, and Joe came out to "help". I told him what was going on and my long day of car troubles and he said "Doesn't your brother work on cars? Why don't you have him figure it out?" I told him that my brother is not nearby, HENCE MY PRESENCE AT MIDAS. He said OK and plugged his machine in but told me it wasn't showing him anything and in order to look into it he would need me to bring it back in the morning so he could look at it all day. He didn't know a cost or time frame but if he couldn't figure it out he'd "put his diagnostics guy on it." Not happening. I went home and called my brother to fill him in and he said to bring it to his shop that night and he'd look at it on his lunch break. I drove the 35 minutes to his shop and he plugged in the same machine Joe had at Midas. It showed him an "evap" code and my brother immediately said "oh I bet it's the intake hose right here" which it was, it had come a little loose. Someone probably bumped it while swapping out the battery and it took all of 30 seconds to tighten. THANKS MIDAS. I took my car to Les Schwab to buy some new tires, since Mike at Midas had told me how they were in such poor condition. The guy came out to look at what I currently had and told me that he would love to sell me some new tires but I really didn't need them. He suggested a rotation since my car is AWD but that I was a least 6 months from needing to replace them. THANKS MIDAS. read more
