Overall, we are very pleased with the way our project turned out, but the experience could have been better. Jim means well, but I think he gets busy, and can't meet the lead-times he originally states. My daughter wanted the silver OEM wheels on her Chevy Cruze Premier repainted to a gloss black, so we brought them to FWO. The end result is exactly what we wanted, and it was a lot cheaper than trying to find the factory "Redline" wheels. The paint job is high quality, and it looks really nice. The areas for improvement include communication and lead-times. Initially we were given a completion date of 2 business days, and I told them they could take 3 if needed. When I called on the third day, they told me three rims were bent, and they needed to be straightened (for additional cost). I gave the go ahead, but I think they had our wheels confused with another project, because they never added on any other charges. The wheels & car ended up being ready for pick up on the sixth business day. As stated, the paint job is great, but the tires seemed haphazardly filled to random pressure levels, differing by a few PSI from corner to corner (that was an easy fix). They all hold air just fine, though; so no worries there. I would definitely recommend the work that Jim & FWO do, but just allow a little extra time for project completion. read more

I finally dug out my old set of BBS RS 3-piece rims for refurbishing. I had heard of Skips Wheelworks and visited the previous owner while it was in Beaverton. I called and spoke with Trent about my project to see if he, as the new owner, carried on with BBS refinishing. Trent confirmed that they do, so I set up a time to bring the rims and the car they were going on to him for a consultation/drop-off. Trent was just as nice in person as he was on the phone. He was really interested in the car as much as the rims. See photos. We talked about the process and specifically about the changes I wanted to make. I decided to go with the center color to match the lower body line color. While going through some BBS forum chats, I saw someone had done a similar color but added gold bolts. I called Trent and asked him if I could make the change from chrome to gold. Trent said it was no trouble; just order and send the bolts to the business. Shortly thereafter, I got a call from Trent that the rims were ready to be picked up. I took the car they were going on to pick them up so I could do a quick look to make sure what I had envisioned came through. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I waited six + months to write this review, simply because I was very frustrated and upset of how this turned out. I will also note that I've driven the car once/less than 400 miles, since having these wheels "refinished", because they did such a horrible job. I paid to have a set of fairly uncommon wheels refinished - curb rash repair, repainted (due to clear coat issues), etc. These were in original condition, never having been refinished before. I had a recommendation from a friend of mine that these folks did a nice job. How wrong that turned out to be... I dropped these off on 5 June, with the understanding that I would have them back in four or five business days. Five days go by with no call from anyone, so I call on 10 June and get the owner, who admitted they hadn't touched them yet. Okay. Informed him that there was a show I wanted to take my car to on 16 June and needed the wheels back before then. Jim, the owner, said he would make it happen. I get a call on 13 June at 3 PM, explaining that one of my wheels is cracked and I will need to take it to their welder immediately, and that they absolutely refused to do any welding in house for liability reasons. While I thought it was strange that an outfit like this wouldn't offer that service in house, I wanted my wheels back before Friday, so I dropped what I was doing and took it to the welder. Got the cracked wheel back the next morning, 14 June (which is the *ONLY* good thing I have to say about this whole deal) and dropped it back off with the wheel tech, who said they would "try" to have them done for tomorrow late afternoon. Okay... Get a call from Jim in the early afternoon of 15 June, informing me that there was no way I would have my wheels back that day, and was on track to have my wheels on Monday or Tuesday (18/19 June). Informed him that I NEEDED these wheels back by Thursday, 21 June, and he said he would make sure they were ready. No word from him on Monday, so Tuesday afternoon, I call and get some run around that they got my wheels painted and the paint "didn't take" and they would have to strip and start over, and definitely would have them by Thursday. He then tells me that they damaged one of my plastic center caps upon removal and threw it away. These wheels haven't been in production since the early 2000s and the company is not around any longer. Finding a replacement cap is next to impossible (I still haven't found one, seven months later). Jim says that he "will find a replacement cap before the wheels are picked up". Call Jim on Thursday late morning, and he informs me that the wheels are getting sprayed with clear right now and that I should be good to pick them up late afternoon. Okay..... Get a call from him later that day, informing me that they have to re clear a couple wheels because the "clear didn't take" and to come at 9 am Friday to make sure the clear was dry. Informed him that I was to be leaving for Seattle on the evening of 22 June (on a car with a fresh engine/transmission with 0 miles on them) and I wanted to put some miles on the car before a 500 mile round trip. Show up at 9 am Friday and the wheel tech brings me my wheels. From a quick 10 foot glance, they looked mediocre and I was honestly afraid to look at them closer, but felt compelled. Runs everywhere in the clear and the paint, pitting everywhere, some of the lines on the faces that were supposed to be nice and crisp had been aggressively sanded and made smooth. I was so frustrated and disappointed, but wanted to make it up to Seattle, so I loaded the wheels in my Range Rover. Upon loading my wheels in the car, I noticed one was low on air and one was completely flat. At this point, Jim arrives and we discuss my center cap situation. He tells me that he "couldn't get one", but says "let me know if you find one" and he would pay for it. I was so irritated that I just gave him the cash, took my receipt and walked out. Put the wheels on the car. The one tire held no air. Great. Take it to my local tire shop (mind you, FWO is 40 minutes from where my car is stored) and they remove the tire. They found that whoever worked on the wheel last, machined the bead, so air was allowed to escape. Call Jim and inform him of my next setback and that I will be bringing the wheel right now and wait in the lot until it is finished. Give Jim the wheel, 45 minutes goes by and he brings it back and says "sorry". Get back to the car and go to install the metal center caps and not a single one fits like it did previously. They're all warped from being aggressively media blasted (assumably). I refuse to have them touch anything I own again, even if they have a "lifetime warranty on all wheel work". Why should I let them ruin my wheels again? TL;DR, I paid FWO $900 to ruin one of my favorite wheels of all time. I'll let the pictures do the talking. read more

I found this company thru Hot Rod DreamWorks. They really know their stuff. Found my LF wheel to be pot hole damaged and the LR the same but less damage, fixed them both. LR was ok except that Les Schwab in LO didn't put the wheel weight on. They had also cross threaded a lug bolt. I am there now to have that repaired, not happy with LS. On the second set of new expensive new tires that are not round. Once this wheel is fixed I will go back to Factory Wheel to have the RF checked. Skip is awesome! He's knows what he's talking about when it comes to wheels. I have a 2002 BMW 330ci I've owned since new. I have style 72 staggered M rims. Recently, I found a very deep pothole that should have destroyed my passenger side wheels. Skip was able to repair the front. Because of his careful inspection, he found two cracks in the rear wheel that rendered it useless. Before finding those cracks, Skip was patient with my questions and honest about his doubts that he could repair the rear wheel. He felt that trying to repair the "out of round" would just crack the wheel at the face. It was moments after his diagnosis that he found the two cracks. This shop's reputation truly precedes them, because I took the time to do quite a bit of homework on specialists with rims/wheels. After several experiences with vehicle repairs leaving a sour taste in my mouth, my guard was up when I went searching for someone to complete a job that another body shop had failed to do. My 2008 Lexus IS-250 was involved in a small fender bender right before New Year's eve (took a small hit on the driver's side bumper/headlight), and the shop I unfortunately chose ended up keeping my vehicle for well over a month. Neither of my fog lights worked afterwards, and they failed to check the alignment. The hit on my car ended up bending one of my rims, which in turn threw my alignment out of whack, and triggered my TPMS light to come on. You would think it was common sense, but strangely enough, I figured this one out before the shop did. The mindless bumpkins that fixed my vehicle instead just kept refilling the tire with air, blaming the low pressure on the temperatures outside. Fast forward to when I finally got it together to take my car elsewhere. Called around, and ended up choosing Factory Wheel Outlet. Jim helped me out, and was not only friendly and professional, but totally accurate in his time estimation. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour. He resolved the exact issue that had left other so-called car professionals scratching their heads. These guys have my business for life! read more

BUYER BEWARE! My car left the shop with 3 yellow scratches going down the side of the front end side of my new Car, as well as some sort of grey resin smudges and finger prints in three places on my trunk lid (hard to remove). If that wasn't enough, Skip said he pressure washed one of my very rare $1,600.00 dollar Giovanna Dalar 5 chrome wheel's, and in the process lost one of the 20 hex rivets (impossible to find or buy) in the process. On the phone, Skip couldn't remember me or the car (just had it in less than a week before hand) and had me drive all the way back to his shop just to tell me the only option would be to try to find something similar that would fit the hole, not the exact same rivet which would of been the only thing acceptable to me. So I tell Skip, so what you're telling me is, I'll have to call up Giovanna myself to see if I can buy a replacement part? (no answer), then I said, I drove all the way down here only to have wasted my time and gas for nothing? No answer. I left without another word. I got home, called Giovanna, and was told the rivet is impossible to find being that the wheel had been discontinued. read more

Hit a pretty bad pothole and it bent the inside of my front passenger wheel. Not only did the people at factory wheel outlet fix my bent wheel, they also went a retrieved it from a separate automotive business, after being dropped off at the wrong place initially. Back in 2020, when I had originally bought the car, it has two bent wheels and curb rash which they also fixed. They all have such a good attitude (even with me calling daily to ask questions and what not), are reliable and respond quickly. I could not recommend this place more. Hopefully, I won't have to deal with anymore bent wheels, but if I do I'll absolutely go back to them. read more

- Behind the Dutch store - Very competent, friendly and generally helpful. These guys welded a cracked wheel for $150, including a little spray-can touch up to the black powder-coating, mounting the tire onto an extra wheel I had, then remounting it back onto the fixed wheel (nice extra many shops might not do). Great deal and they do good work. I also had a set of tires shipped to them from TireRack.com. They installed the new tires for only $25/each and did a superb job. I never knew wheel repair and balancing could be such an art, but the guy who helped me (wish I could remember his name) did a fantastic job down to 1/8 ounce. He balanced the wheels so perfectly that I didn't feel any wobbles at all, even at 120mph the next day, even though one wheel had a little bend around the bead that I didn't fix! Every time I went in, there were very expensive sports and luxury cars there getting wheels fixed, so they obviously do amazing work. And surprisingly cheap, too. They can fix cracks from the rim towards the center, and bends towards the center. Bends that push the rim away from the plane of the hub (sideways bends), and cracks across spokes can't usually be fixed. There's services that can come to your house, but these guys are willing to do more, and more carefully. I'll always have tires shipped to these guys for mounting from now on. read more

I can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews with how great they are. I had a leak in my tire and was told that it was a bent rim. The guy at my tire shop suggested I take it to WheelKraft, but that was all the way in Vancouver and pretty expensive. I found some reviews on Skip's online and decided to go with him. I am happy I did! This is an incredible family business. Skip introduced me to his wife, and I believe grandson, who also work there. Right of the bat you can tell he is a really friendly man who knows his stuff. They are located right by an Enterprise, which is really convenient if you have to get a rental car. Enterprise forgot that I needed to be picked up, and I was offered coffee, and eventually when my wait increased, they offered me a ride several times. When Enterprise finally showed up, Skip's wife went outside with me to make sure it was Enterprise. Less than seven hours after I dropped it off, Skip called to say it was ready, and offered to stay open later if I was running late to pick it up. Once I dropped off my rental, the shuttle took me back to Skip's and he was waiting at the door waving. I know he was ready to leave, but he took his time to tell me the issues, showed me on a rim what had happened to mine, and went above and beyond. He had fixed the rim, checked the others to make sure they were okay, polished the chrome to better than they have looked in a long time (I am neglectful), and only charged $75. I cannot rave enough about this place. This is a bargain price for exceptional service. Plus it is great to support a family run business. If you are the least bit hesitant search around for reviews on other sites; they are glowing. Be sure to bring cash or a check! read more

I have been using Skip's for wheel maintenance for probably 20 years. He has completely refinished probably 40 wheels for me. I also drop ship tires to them for installation, though that is not their primary business - installation and balancing is always spot on. Nice genuine people. Just had my wheel done. It looked like nothing ever happened. Note: it is a little hard to find. My GPS told me it's next to the McDonald's, but the truth is it's a little further down. Go pass the McD and turn onto SW 96th Ave. Look for a yellow mailbox on the right. I probably hit a deep pot hole somewhere, such that the inside of the wheel was bent enough that the tire would leak pressure. I thought it was a nail but the tire place showed me the rim. I searched on Yelp. Skip's had a good review and so happened to be near. Even those it doesn't have a lot of review, I still decided to go (cuz in general not a lot of people remember to leave good reviews when the job turned out to be great). Dropped it off. Skip does excellent work. I took my BMW Style 65 wheels to him for cleanup and balancing. They have the shadow chrome finish which is notoriously difficult to work with. Skip was able to make them look and spin like new, and the pricing was totally reasonable. I'll be back. read more

Have a set of custom chrome barrelled/lip wheels on my 911 that I bought just 2 1/2 years ago. Had two rear wheels slowly leaking to the point that I had to put air in the tires every week. Took them to my local America's Tire and after unmounting the tire, the problem was ID'd as peeling chrome on the inside of the lip where the tire bead meets the rim on the wheel. Tire tech said it was the same problem on all four of my wheels. After calling the manufacturer to ask how much it would cost to fix, I was told that I would have to rechrome all four lips to the tune of $1200 plus shipping. Just insane since I spent nearly $5000 for the wheels - just to put another 25% into them again because of peeling chrome?? Infuriated, I called the manufacturer and expressed my displeasure at having to pony up cash to fix essentially new wheels. They apologized but said there was no other remedy - especially with the wet climate up here, this was likely the culprit. A friend told me to look up Skip's - and a quick call and discussion with Skip himself confirmed that this was a plague that strikes chrome lipped wheels here very often. However, Skip's repair was far less than rechroming all the lips, and he told me the leaking would stop. It's been over 4 months now - and tires are all holding pressure! I couldn't be happier.
