After riding around for about 3 months with my a hole in my flex connector, it got annoying quick listening to how loud my car was on start up and accelerating. I went in to see what the damage was and I honestly was expecting to pay over $1k to get it fix. The guy at the front called me up, I held my breath and I was very relieved they didn't charge more than I could afford at that time. Took a vehicle in for diagnosis/repair and was given an upsell estimate for over $5k. That included a repair that was already done elsewhere. When questioned about it, employee was argumentative and defensive. The items quoted were twice as much as our mechanic back home. Agreed to ball joint work and realized we were overcharged and the online coupon was never applied. Incredibly frustrating and disappointing to be taken advantage of in this situation. read more

Home of the slowest oil change on earth. Dealership was $40 more, but how much is your time worth?

I grew up with my family owning a chain of NAPA stores in St. Joseph County. Therefore, I grew up in the automotive business. This was the worst example of not doing what the customer requested and trying to pad on unnecessary extras. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! I had a exhaust noise coming from a "Y" pipe. I made an appointment due to I would have to wait to get the vehicle repaired and since I lived 43 miles from the location. They were one of the only places I could get an appointment. I communicated to the person on the call I needed it completed that day and I would be waiting to have this repaired so I would not have ability return. This was acknowledged on the phone. Instead they took an hour trying to diagnose the problem and figure out how they could over-bill. The solution should have been to use weld flex pipe over the area or have them use a pipe bender to create a new pipe. This location did not do either. Instead they came back with an excuse that they could not get a new pipe for 3 days and it was well over priced for the estimate. The cost to repair the exhaust was $634.33. In addition, they tried to pad on other items: SHOCKS, STRUTS, SWAY BAR KIT, TUNE UP, COMPUTERIZED ALIGNMENT and FUEL INJECTION CLEANING. I had not asked for any of these services. Also all had been recently for professionally inspected at dealer or repaired and documented with CARFAX. That was an ADDITIONAL $2,993.11 cost. I was able to take it to a Muffler Man location in Holland MI where I was able to get the repair done correctly later that same day for $194.47. I DO HAVE RECEIPTS TO PROVE IT! I tried to make an appointment here after being referred by uhaul. I got a rude voice-mail from Paul letting me know that they don't do what I had requested. I called for clarification and was told that the work on my vehicle was "a pain" and that they were not willing to do it. I asked what I should do because I need this work done and he told me to find someone else that would do it. I would never bring a car here based on their customer service alone. The fact that they're also turning people away because the work is difficult is ridiculous. read more

They lied and said they did a tire rotation they clearly didn't do and then treated family like crap when they took it back to advocate for me...Also lied on the inspection sheet saying all my tires came into their shop at 35psi?!! My daughter recently moved to Grand Rapids and I was visiting her. Her car was making a terrible noise and she wasn't sure where to take it. We decided on this place. What a wonderful experience. Al was extremely pleasant. They were right on time. Nick came out and took us to look under her car. The muffler area was caked in mud. He cleaned it out as much as possible suggested that we get an under body wash and they sent us on our way with no charge. What a great first intro to getting service in Grand Rapids. We received a 9.99 coupon in the mail addressed specifically to us. It was for an oil change tire rotation and engine check so I called to make sure there were no hidden fees. I was told that they would honor the coupon even though they did not know about this special. So my husband brought the car in they did what they said and it came to 15.45 with tax. Now we get into the car to leave get on the highway and we get to 67 mph and the front of our car practically shakes off! We go back and they said oh the tires are out of balance it's 30.00 to balance them!!! We told them to put the tires back on the way they were and be done with it! Now I usually drive this car to my sons which is mostly highway and I go over 80 and NEVER experience any shaking! So now my question is if they know that when they rotate the tires that the tires may need to be balanced why don't they tel you this before hand? Now we are customers of this particular Midas in June I spent over 900.00 on two new tires and brakes. I guess the old story line you get what you pay for is true! We will go to our local Valvoline shop like I usually always do and spend the extra to get good honest service! read more
