Service here was an absolute disaster. I would give a 0 star if I could. We chose Ace Transmission because we supposedly have a % off. My vehicle has been there since before Christmas (it is January 18). There has been next to no communication from them, which has required me calling on multiple occasions for updates on where they are in the process of fixing my vehicle. At one point I had been told that they were going to check to see if I needed a whole new transmission or just parts (which I okayed), but then never heard. When I called to check in, they told me that they ordered a whole new transmission and that it would cost $5,500 (which is my own fault for not getting this in writing). At this point I was understanding and said go ahead with the install. Fast forward 2 weeks and I have yet to hear. I finally got a call and was told that final cost was $6,500. I asked why the price was so much higher than my initial quote and was told because of "incidentals" (transmission fluid, alignment, and reprograming - things that need to go in with a new transmission but were not included in the initial quote). I called to dispute - saying that I was not informed that the price could increase and especially by this much (I understand a few dollars here or there but a $1,000 is ridiculous), and was told that John, the boss, was on vacation. When I finally got ahold of him the following week he was condescending, combative, defensive, rude, and wound up hanging up on me. I have never been treated like this in service setting, I am astounded. At this point I am going to pay the misrepresented price, leave with my vehicle, and never go back. My 2013 Ford E-350 Van began slipping on Saturday, Ace towed my van from where it was parked to their shop and after a through inspection, I received a quick quote and itemized list of all that the repairs would cost. These guys have my respect and business from now on. They were so quick to get it repaired and delivered it back to me before the promised time. When I came in and stated who I was he instantly started yelling at me and told me I never made an appt and started calling me names it was VERY RUDE!!! I would actually give 0 stars if I could. I called Ace because of a coupon in the local area coupon booklet. It was for a transmission fluid replacement (not a flush but they drain fluid and replace with new fluid). The coupon stated I could have this service performed on my vehicle for just under $65. It was like $63.95 basically $65. I dropped my vehicle off the night before so they could replace the fluid in the morning. The owner card to tells that it would be $150 to have this work done on my vehicle because it was a Dodge and used different fluid. The coupon would not be honored. I asked if I could just pay the difference in price of fluid and he said he's not doing that because he doesn't have to. I replied by telling him that the coupon didn't say that Dodge Intrepids were excluded from the deal. He replied with "yes it does say that, it says coupon valid on most makes and models." There were no specific exclusions stated on the coupon so pretty much he was pulling a bait and switch. Because you could call with any make or model and he could say that vehicle is excluded. And he did say that. I had two other people call on different days. One person had a Ford vehicle and the other had a GM vehicle and he found a reason to exclude them from this coupon. Not only was he unscrupulous and dishonest in his advertising, he was extremely rude and condescending. He also insulted me and said if I don't like it then to pick up my car and beat it. I have never had a business owner of any establishment talk to me like that. It is amazing he has any business at all. That man is shady and very, very rude. My 03 Mountaineer started slipping gears on me. Having 200,000 miles on it, I was nervous about putting money into it, however, taking a chance I took it to Ace Transmissions since they offer a NO CHARGE diagnostic. My truck needed a rebuild. What I appreciated about ACE was before doing any of the work, the manager explained in detail the service they would provide and the exact cost and time it would take. Went to two well known transmission shops to diagnose shifting problem on my 04 Cadillac Srx. Basically was told id need a transmission. Called Ace and had a very good consultation and decided to bring it in. I DID NOT need a transmission or a valve body. Went from a 12-1400 problem to paying Ace 350. They found what the others didnt. Cadillac is running great and its been about a month or longer. Would highly recommend this shop. They gave me a tour of the shop and all ! Im very picky about who works on my vehicles but the phone conversation was honest and gave me hope and it paid off. One very satisfied customer I am. read more

Literally the WORST customer service experience I have ever had. I found this place on a top ten of west MI list. I called them up and they promised me the world. Free towing from my home on the other side of town, free diagnostic (even though I already knew what the problem was), a mid range repair quote, and even favorable hours so I wouldn't have to take time off work when I needed to visit the shop. Even before my car got there they started taking away these perks. The free towing turned into free standard towing and since I'm so far away I got stuck with a $50 bill over the "standard". Next they confirmed I wasn't lying about the symptoms and took it apart to find the exact part I told them was broken was in fact broken. The final estimate after it was apart was DOUBLE the initial estimate! But it was already in pieces so I decided to have them finish the job. When it was completed and I went in to pick up my car the service agent was extremely rude and impatient. And would not honor their online coupon because I hadn't mentioned it way back before the car even got there. Eventually he did agree to half the coupon discount. By the way, bring a money order because they charge 3% on credit cards, that's a big chunk of change for a major rebuild. Eventually all the paperwork was finished, money changed hands and I went back after two weeks for the check up and start of the 2yr warranty. Two months later I'm putting the winter wheels on and there is transmission fluid covering the bottom of the car! I called Ace immediately and I get yelled at! You need to bring it in now, if you wait it can get burned up and it might not be covered by the warranty, bring it today, you need to bring it today! Seriously? That's not how you talk to customers. We have lives and day jobs you know. I understand and I told you that I was not driving the car but you continued your rant. Completely unacceptable I brought my car in and the next day picked it up being told they Teflon taped the drain plug and reinstalled it. I went on my way fingers crossed. Now it's a couple weeks later and you guessed it, there's a puddle of fluid under the car and I'm livid ...to be continued read more

Ace Transmission is everything you are looking for in an automotive repair shop. Their prices are reasonable and comparable to others in the area. They have knowledgeable mechanics that are able to perform diagnostic evaluations for you at no charge. Not only do they fix the problem right the first time, they let you know of other repairs you may need in the future. They really do take the anxiety out going to the shop and having your car repaired. You just drop your car off in the morning and it`s done that evening. When I went to this place in 2011, I was very pleased. They were polite and I felt comfortable with their diagnosis for my car. I am a young female and so I am very aware that I am easy to take advantage of. I was told that the alternator they fixed was under a lifetime warranty for parts and labor. This is a huge reason that I agreed to get my car fixed here. It is now 2 yrs later and my alternator went out again. I am on the east side of the state for school now and when I called them to discuss my issue, John, the manager, was a little rude. He seemed frustrated that he would have to look up the paperwork to find out where the part came from. 7 hours later John returned my call to tell me he couldn't find the receipt anywhere. He had told me they had 2 suppliers, but when I asked how they can't find it if they only have 2 suppliers he proceeded so say they have several. I'll be honest, I was frustrated and aggressive because it didn't make sense that they wouldn't have any paperwork on this. He continued to call me snotty, refused to tell me any of the suppliers he worked with (the shop out here was willing to contact them and value the warranty), and made several sarcastic comments such as "this must just be a conspiracy against you". He also said " if I want to throw out paperwork after 30 days, I will". At no point was he polite or understanding. The shop out here in whitmore lake went above and beyond and did the research themselves to discover it was an autozone alternator and was IN FACT still under warranty. I was disgusted by his customer service and disrespect to me from the moment that I asked for his help. They will rip you off. I. Believe there is a reason he wouldn't reveal is suppliers and why he became so defensive. He didn't want to have to honor his promise on the alternator. You are better off driving 2 hours to Mazur automotive in whitmore lake. They have been more than helpful during this fiasco. read more
