Been here twice for oil change / tire rotation on 2 different vehicles. First time was denied a tire rotation because my back tire tread was too low.. It clearly was not so I took it to a different shop and they just laughed stating I had 6 more months atleast on them (I got new tires after 5 months). The second time they denied the tire rotation stating I had some missing rubber on my sidewall. First off it looks like someone took a screwdriver and stabbed the tire (definitely was not like that before I came to Midas); no other damage just a quarter size chunk. And to top it off they didn't even tell me they didn't rotate my tires just handed me the paperwork and I luckily read it before paying. Will NEVER come here again. read more

I am VERY pleased with the service from the Midas off W Patrick St in Frederick, MD. The store manager David is efficient answering any questions or concerns. Also, I believe the quality of service is fair and honest. i recently had my front brakes replaced and believe the price to be fair. Very grateful for the price and replacement of my front brakes. Thank you David and thanks to your team working on the cars! Today I went back in to Midas because of a noise, I thought the brake replacement would have taken care of. David said we'll figure it out just leave the car with me and sure enough I get a call a few hours later and David and his guys solved the problem. David said it was probably minor and it was a piece of plastic stuck under the car that they located. Keep in mind I told the dealership about several weeks ago spoke with several times with no resolve as well as another car place on the same 40 West strip I will not name, but no resolve. As like many body shops, labor cost is expensive. Most places will charge an arm and a leg for a lot of mechanical terms/things that normal consumers do not know of. However, as a consumer your job is to call different shops and ask questions that will meet your standard and price budget. As a side note always ask questions and quote (subject to change) before leaving your car at a shop for work so that the price and cost would not surprise you. I get free tire patch and such at Costco where I replace my tires but as a convenience I'd come to Midas despite having to pay for a patch I wouldn't mind at all. Came in today, MJ and another staff were able to assist me and take my car in for a quick check for tires. As always Supporting local business for a good cause. Other than that, my uncle and I have been coming here for years. These guys are always helpful and honest every time. Professional and respectful team. Appreciate it! read more

The assistant store manager menjou known as MJ is a scam artist! I went to this location to get a tune up! Tuneups normally consist of changing spark plugs and engine coils etc. This Established does not state to customers before hand That tuneups at Midas Only consist of changing spark plugs. When I was told my initial quote with the thought in my mind that coils and spark plugs are being replaced the initial quote was $425. I drop my car off and I get a call from MJ stating that my bill would go up to $560 because he had to change a top Plenum gasket. And it would be labor on top of that. I said to him wouldn't that be charging me double labor because my car is already open? He began to over talk me and explain a whole bunch mechanic talk that I have no idea. When I pick my car up he gave me a $30 discount in my total came down to $520. Now with a thought in my mind that I have a. New top Plenum gasket and I have new spark plugs and coils! I leave the location two days later my check engine light comes on and at AAMCO they let me know that the only thing that they did was change six spark plugs and put a new Plenum gasket which I found out is a flimsy small gasket that they charge me $27 for!! So I call Midas because to my surprise I was unaware that coils were not being changed MJ explained that all they did was change the spark plugs and confirm that no coils were changed! So for $560 with a $30 discount I got six spark plugs change and a top plenum gasket put on my car. AAMCO let me know that I was scammed. So I start calling other Midas I called the one in Catonsville the one in Baltimore and was told that to change spark plugs on my car would run from anywhere to $300-$360 at their locations and they could not understand how my bill made it to $560! To my surprise when I went back to my original Midas they charge me $33.80 per spark plug for a Nissan Maxima 2012. I called Pep Boys and asked what's the standard spark plug to be put into my car and what price range they told me that the standard iudium spark plug are 699 apiece. I'm livid with MJ at this point he tells me that he puts the higher-quality spark plug in my car without my permission and tells me that he does everything by the book that is given in my car so I go to my car and get my book and nowhere in the book of my car states that I have to have high-quality spark plugs for my engine. He scammed me because I was a female and offered me free oil change and to take the spark plugs out of my car and put mine in now I'm inconvenience and missing days of work ! But it all gets worse yesterday after I left that establishment I started getting threatening phone calls from unknown numbers blocked numbers fake numbers that if you call them back it would say that the number was not in service and I'm pretty sure that MJ has a lot to do with it! This man has my personal information and has my cell phone number I have never been threatened or harassed on my phone ever before. I would never get your car repaired at this location! Find a honest Midas Update! I go back in there establishment with the spark plugs I purchased that I was told by MJ that he would put in. I was told by the store manager David that they are not putting them in so I wasted even more money! Then he told me that he isn't going to refund me my money unless I sign a paper so I won't take them to court! I don't feel comfortable doing that so I didn't sign in nicer words I was told to get out and he won't help me! Not only was I over charged then I bought and have spark plugs that I wasted money on not to mention they still owe me money! Apparently the owner of this establishment doesn't want to help or resolve my issue! They have a man who served time Bestfriend with the store manager so of course I'm getting no help! They give you one price over the phone and charge you another when you arrive. I'm fine with some small changes/adjustments. I worked in service department of a dealership before and I understand the adjustments that sometimes need to be made, however they should not be this major on something like changing a lightbulb which is what I wanted. Also, on two occasions when my husband, who's English is limited, went, he was told way more than when I spoke to them. I believe they tried to take advantage of someone with a different language. Yikes!!!! That is usually followed by: run for the hills. I had a boycott of Midas for many years because they were horrible where I used to live. They were costly Ripoffs! So, when I came to this one I was so apprehensive. I then ran into the assistant manager "MJ" and he gave me information without stress or pressure to fix my car. I decided to come back the next day and the same guy was there ready to help and honor what he initially told me. I was so impressed by the professionalism and care for the customer. The staff was on point and appeared to respond well to each other. The car was fixed with suggestions for future maintenance with no up sales or tactics. He made me feel like I wanted to come back to the store and get everything else fixed. They have changed my mind about all the years I didn't go to Midas. Great job fellas and keep up the great work! Though I hadn't been to Midas in Frederick for years I am aways skeptical of change automotive store. In general I find their service to be lacking. In any event the other day I started my 2006 Honda Accord at which time I heard what sounded like an exhaust leak. Given that I had just paid for $625.00 exhaust repair for my college aged daughter's 2006 Honda Civic at a Frederick area chain auto repair shop and wasn't overjoyed with the transaction, the sound of my accord exhaust nearly mirrored that of the Civic exhaust leak. All I could think of was "oh boy, another $600 plus repair bill." Given my recent experience with the Civic, I decided to take my Accord to Midas, in that I had known the manager their years ago. When I arrived at Midas, I discovered that my manager friend was no longer working there. The current Store Manager, David was friendly and engaging and told me that my friend had left a few years ago. They didn't seem too busy, so I figured I wouldn't be held hostage all day. I explained to David sound I was hearing, that my car had 278,750+ miles on the odometer and that he could call me once he had inspected the exhaust system. My wife met me at Midas and we drove away to do some Christmas shopping. About twenty minutes later David called to inform me that he could find no problems with my Accord's exhaust system. He went on to explained that my oil filler cap had been removed (probably at a recent oil change) and that the sound I was hearing was coming from pressure from the cylinder head with no cap was echoing against the hood of the car. He stated that they had cleaned up the oil that had splattered all over the engine compartment and found and oil filler cap, which they re-installed. Of course, I was overjoyed, asked David what I owed him for their trouble. He stated that their was no charge and that he hoped that I would return to Midas when I next need an auto repair. In short, my recent experience exceed my expectations! read more

We were presently surprised by the quick response and free of charge fix when my dads Cadillac had engine guard broken and kept scraping on highway. Took my car to the dealership and to the AAA shop to have the noisy exhaust fixed. they quotes $1,800 and $1,500 respectively, telling me that almost the whole system needed to be replaced. The guy at Midas simply cut out the bad part and welded in a new section - and the car is as good as new. Cost - $140. (Yes, I *know* it is a temporary fix and the rest of the exhaust may need replacement soon...) Similar thing with a suspension problem. AAA quoted $1,400. Midas - $400. I'll be taking the car there next week. read more

Consumer, beware of the Midas unconscionable fees. The initial estimate they gave me for the cost of the repairs to my vehicle $2,604.91. When I declined, they provided me with a second estimate in the amount of $1,400.00. Initially, I agreed to have Midas perform the repairs set forth in the second estimate. However, while in the waiting room, I searched the cost of repairing and replacing exhaust systems on the internet using my phone. The search showed costs which were significantly less. My auto mechanic confirmed the price was unreasonable. Midas refused to release my car until I made arrangements to have the car towed and paid them $100.00 for 15-20 minutes of service. Perhaps as an act of revenge, Midas called the Frederick Police Department. The two police officers who arrived and agreed that I was entitled to change my mind. Their initial thoughts were the Midas estimate was unreasonable and confirmed this by using the laptop in the police car to search the internet. My own auto mechanic later repaired my car for $960.51 and the quality of work was outstanding as usual. read more

Absolutely would NEVER come back here. Needed my breaks fixed due to them screeching. Dropped my car off... was fixed that same day. Not even a week later my car was making a rattling sound driving/when my car was parked. Decided to take it back to figure out what was going on. On my way to the shop my breaks completely stopped working. I had never been so scared in my life. Luckily was able to get my car into a parking lot somehow. Had to tow my car there. When my car arrived to their location and they were able to look they went ahead and told me my break line was cut because "I somehow managed to get a rock in my break line area which caused it to cut" UM WHAT! Lol no. You all just didn't do the job the first time and didn't want to take fault for your wrongful doing. Even AFTER getting my car redone by them my breaks continued to squeak. I never took it back because I was actually fearful for myself and the work they clearly don't know how to do. So I basically paid for my car to continue to sound terrible. Save yourself the trouble. The people at route 40 Midas can be trusted to service your car at a fair price. I've been taking my cars there for the past 5 years and have never had an issue with them. In fact, they have turned down work, advising me that the service I requested, was not necessary and can be delayed until necessary. I made the mistake of taking my car to another service center and was reminded how dubious this business can be. They're not the cheapest, but rest assured, you can leave the KY at home because you won't get hosed-down like some other places. Complete rip off. Traded my car and $250 cash for a car I was promised was a good daily driver with recent repairs and no signs of problems by the manager who represented himself as selling this for the shop. This car has too many problems to list. I was promised they would repair then heard nothing, I was then promised a refund of $200 and again heard nothing. This has been going on for 2 weeks and I explained upon making this decision I have 3 kids and commute 1 hour to work and needed reliable transportation. Check engine light on, needs wheel bearing, major oil leak after replacing valve cover gaskets I am told it now needs a head gasket. No reverse lights due to a wiring issue. NO HEAT in the middle of winter. And empty promises to make it right. Disgusted. read more

My family and I were on a trip to the beach when we ran into some car battery issues. It was early in the morning and finding help at the hotel we stayed at was difficult. Thankfully, we spotted the Midas store just to our left and made our way over there. The gentlemen there could not have been more friendly and accomodating. They saw we were in a tough spot and quickly came across the road to the hotel to mobile jump our battery. They were very honest in noting that while the jump would get us to our destination, the battery was in bad shape and therefore suggested that we get a diagnostic test run as a safety measure. They worked w/ us on the price and helped move us to the front of the line for service (we had our 11 month old in the car with us and they knew we were on borrowed time!). In the end, we only needed a battery. The guys swapped our battery out and got us back on the road in less than an hour. We are truly humbled by the way in which they helped us so quickly and appreciative for all they did to get us back on the road. A Great Job done by all at this location. Now, if they could only do something about the traffic on I95! Thanks Midas. The team at your Frederic store saved saved our trip. read more
