They will get your car taken care of and are very reliable and honest with details on repairs, cost, etc. Jeff is usually the one that helps us out and he is awesome!! Do NOT bring your car here. They are a mix of fraudulent and incompetence. Brought my vehicle in twice, for one and only one noise occurring with braking. Both times I was aggressively sold a sure fix for it. Both times I left with the exact same concern unaddressed noticeable immediately in the parking lot. It is completely obvious and factual that my concern was not investigated, replicated, or tested for both times. How do you sell a fix for something you don't replicate? Manager is clearly desperate as when I spoke to him after being swindled the second time for an erroneous fix, nothing was offered, he just argued semantics with me. "That noise wasn't a brake noise, so it's unrelated. We fixed something else". The blame was put on me for describing my noise as brake related, when he said that in fact was suspension. I am not a mechanic, it occurs with braking. There was only ever one noise, no noise ever alleviated, flat out FRAUD and negligence. Please stay away from these people. Also, please note their warranties are imaginary and scams. If you walk in here, please record everything. read more

Took my 2018 F150 to Midas for an oil change. I'd taken it there a few times before and was pleased with the cost and timely manner. So while I am waiting for it to be finished, the service tech comes into the office and tells the service manager that my air filter and cabin air filters needed to be replaced, the service manager tells me what the tech had told him. I tell the service manager that I've got a K&N air filter, plus there's a sticker on the cover, he says the tech didn't say that to him. The cabin air filter is a pain in the butt to change so I was doubting if the tech even looked at it. They did say the cost would be $88.00. I obviously declined. When I got home I looked up the cost of an air filter, and the cabin filter. The cost for both through Amazon was $23.00. So they were going to charge me $55.00 labor. So that's compliant number 1. Number 2, the service manager then tells me that the front right strut needed to be replaced, along with the rear brakes. I asked how much it would be he should be at $1700 but he'd work me a deal. I did set up an appointment to get it done a couple of days later. The next day I decided to call a place we've bought tires and had front end alignments done. They told me they could look at it the following week. So I took it into their place. They looked it over and said it did need a new strut, in fact it needed both front struts replaced, along with the rear brakes, in addition because the struts needed replacing it would need a front end alignment. So I asked how much it was going to set me back, I'm figuring we'll over $2000.00 based on my quote from Midas based on one strut. They said right $1300. So to have both struts, brakes, and alignment it was $400 less than only the one strut and brakes with no alignment. I was telling my neighbor about it, he said it's called up sales. He said that businesses will try to sell you unnecessary stuff. I didn't work in retail, I spent my working career as a firefighter the San Bernardino County Fire Department. So just beware if you use Midas in Encinitas. I've spent my last dollars there. read more

I brought my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder in to get a catalytic converter replaced, so I can get it smogged. I had already had the car diagnosed at a different auto place and was given a quote for the work that just seemed insane. Jeff talked to me over the phone and assured me that they would do a thorough check and only complete the work that was needed. I'm so happy I brought my car to Midas. Their team was so great to work with. They gave thorough information and even talked to my brother over the phone (who works in the auto industry). In the end, they quoted me a much more reasonable price for labor with such a fast turn around. After the initial conversations with Jeff, I worked with Sam at the front desk. Sam was wonderful at communicating too and offered the best customer service ever. I felt like a part of his family and I can say that I definitely trust this place after this experience. I ended up having the spark plugs replaced and I'm glad I did. There was a hole discovered in the valve cover and Sam even went as far as showing me the part after the work was done. I made the unfortunate mistake of bringing my car here for an oil change. Shortly after the oil change I started smelling fuel so I took my car to the dealership to have it looked at. The diagnosis? The oil cap wasn't secured, it was just resting on top. Thanks Midas! I'll never be bringing my car back in. Additionally, on the day of my visit to Midas they called to let me know of an additional repair that was needed on the vehicle. They were so pushy about it, offering me a 15% off coupon that happens to expire on that day so I had to agree to the work on the spot. I'm so glad I didn't agree to this bigger job because they can barely handle to do an oil change correctly. read more

I've been to this Midas location with both positive and negative experiences. The later was what turned me away for good. My first experience was great. The manager hooked me up with a lifetime warranty on brake pads. The deal was pretty good so I ended up going back later when the brakes started wearing again. This time I noticed the same manager wasn't there this time around. Another manager was helping me by saying the pads I needed were special and cost an arm and a leg. Also needed new rotors. He started calling his parts guys asking for a deal on pads and rotors. Got the cost down, but still out of my budget for the whole package. He calls another parts guy and asks for a favor. This time the cost is closer to what I can afford. I told him I'd call to set up an appointment and took the car to another place that was recommended by a friend. They gave me a great price on pads and told me to machine the rotors and save a bundle. I did and have been using this other mechanic ever since. It's farther away, but worth every penny! read more

Another one of those times I thank the Yelp Gods for this website! So, the brakes on my car have been squeaking the last few weeks, whining about needing a change. After not being able to keep an appointment with my usual Pep Boys and not in the mood to wait for another opening, I began shopping around on Yelp for alternatives. Pretty soon after, I was nodding in appreciation at all the love for Midas. A phone call later and I had an appointment set up for that afternoon. I went in, nothing but smiles from behind the counter, and I was on my way with a promise of completion in just a couple of hours. It was enough time to grab lunch, goof off on Yelp for a while, and walk back just as they were finishing up in the time they promised. All of this for about $20 less than what Pep Boys was going to charge me. And, on top of that, they offer a Lifetime Guarantee on their brake pads. Apparently, the next time I'm in need of a new set, I can go down and get a free pair, only needing to pay the labor for slapping them on; this basically means saving around $75 from now on for future brake changes. I mean, c'mon! What more do you want!?! Cheaper, fast service, great work on my car, in the time they promised, even cheaper later on down the road, and, best of all, they don't try and tell you 20+ other things that might be wrong with your car to freak you out into leaving your car for an additional week. I hate when other places do that. Anyway, Midas kicks ass. I'm going there again for ... dude, like everything. Not only have I found my new mechanics, I think I also found the new Best Man at my wedding ... either that or the Mohel at my next son's Bris. read more

They were crazy busy but he managed to get me in due to some urgent issues on my end. He took the time to give me a few options to save some money and delay non-critical things. I can always get in when I call for an appt. I love that they can do the same service as the Toyota dealer at a lower cost and in a faster time frame. My car was rattling and I thought it was a loose pan again. Unfortunately I had worn away a set of my brakes! Now I don't know a lot about car stuff, especially brakes, (Jeff explained everything to me though!) All I know is that they went out to grab a part and fixed my brakes all in about 30 minutes! Jeff (midas manager) is still providing excellent customer service. I took my 2006 forester to midas encinitas for nearly 6 years. Always great, honest service and never any unnecessary add ons. Today my 18 yo son took his used Lexus to diagnose power steering issue. Midas team found no issue (my husband thinks may have been loose wire to electric component), and charged him $0 vs quoted diagnosis price of around $170. I've been utilizing this shop for about 10 years, and in that time they have serviced at least 5 different vehicles for me, ranging from domestic to foreign. I have used them for oil changes, brakes, alignment, etc. The reason I keep going back is 1. i trust them, they are honest 2. they do good work as I've never had any negative issues after their services, and 3. their prices are extremely fair. Finding a local auto shop with these 3 qualities is a rare occurrence. Just this past year, my Jeep was substanttialy out of alignment, and they fixed it and it has been perfect since. Jeff (who has been there since I've been utilizing Midas) even took the vehicle, post alignment fix, on a test drive with me, to be sure it was correct . They have worked on multiple vehicles for me w/ regards to brakes, oil changes, etc. Just today I took my car in for an oil change and told them it also seemed to have a slow oil leak. Post oil change, Travis called me and had already looked up my Warranty per my VIN and suggested i take it in to the dealer for warranty covered repair for an oil leak. I also asked them about my brakes, which I figured needed some repairing given the Miles on the vehicle w/o brakes to date. While i was on the phone, Travis went out looked at the brakes and re-verified what was on the report he had already gone over with me. He verified that I likely had a minimum few thousand miles left on the brakes before needing repair (rather than trying to upselling me brakes prematurely, which Other places often do). I truly trust in this local Midas to provide great technical service/repairs with an honest and service orientated approach and will continue to use them for repairs to my vehicles. read more
