I would like to update from my previous review of how poor my vehicle was given back to me with greasy fingerprints all over and floor mat with grease embedded. Emily the store manager did rectify the situation and we both came to a mutual agreement. I will give props for her customer service and trying to do the right thing. Emily righted a wrong and I will be back. This place is an absolute rip off! It was years ago and still is. They advertise an oil change for 24.99. When I went there I asked if there were any other charges. The receptionist said no. When I was charged 30.08 I asked why it was not 26.24. She said there was a 3 dollar disposal fee for the oil. It's not a big deal I just hate being lied too. Years ago I had this midas store then put new alternator in my Cadillac. 6 months later it went out. When I went back and asked them about it they said somebody put the wrong one in. I told them they had done it. After checking the records they admitted they had an replaced it,then tried to charge me 79 dollars labor for the service! Avoid this place. Bad news! read more

Got an oil change they left my vehicle with greasy fingerprints inside door panel and handle, armrest, steering wheel and shift knob plus floor mat driver side covered in greasy spots from shoes not to mention the exterior of my vehicle was greasy fingerprints on hood, door and door handle. I called Midas out on it and told them and sent a picture of my floor mat and my carpet is a light tan so they wanted me to bring in the floor mat to try and clean it that was there way to rectify the situation. I said Midas isn't a carpet cleaning company and they probably would grab whatever cleaning product they have lying around to clean the grease which would cause more damage. I cleaned carpet professionally for years and know better. Only after pointing out that they should offer a coupon for an oil change is when I get an email stating they were going to do that in person because it's more personable. Yeah sure. read more

So I'm driving down the road, and it practically feels like my front left tire is about to pop off it was shaking so bad. I stopped to check it out, and noticed a huge screw jammed in my tire. As a woman, you kinda wish you had a guy with you when things like this go wrong because you feel like mechanics at shops are going to treat you like you're dumb (ya know?). The guys at this shop couldn't have been kinder right off the bat. I thought I would have to pay to get an entire new tire and they said "nope, we can patch it up for $24!" And informed me the repair would last the life of the tire, best news ever! Didn't over sell, didn't treat me different for being a woman with car problems, and everyone there was nothing but kind. Awful, awful, awful experience at this mechanic! Came in to get a simple oil change and the mechanics found that I needed a half drive-shaft replaced. The manager said they had the part in stock and replaced it for an affordable price. Over the next week, the car began having problems with poor acceleration that it had never had before. It seemed obvious that since the issues started within a few days of replacing the part they must be related. When I took it back to the shop they told me that they couldn't think of ANY reason why the car would be having the issues I described and suggested that I might be trying to scam them into fixing an unrelated problem. They said they inspected the car and that there was nothing wrong that they could see and that the problem was likely a "bad batch of gas" (I'm not kidding). The problems got worse over the next week so I took the car to another mechanic who found that the drive shaft was the wrong part and that it had been spilling oil and transmission fluid for the last two weeks. There was oil and transmission fluid sprayed all over the bottom of the car, which I can't imagine Midas would have missed had they actually inspected the car the week before. I took the car back to Midas so they could fix their mistake and install the correct part, which they assured me they did. Two weeks later the car started having THE SAME PROBLEMS!!! The crew at Midas had incorrectly installed the part, which was again leaking transmission fluid. I had to get the problem fixed at another mechanic since the incompetence at Midas was actively damaging my car. By the end of the ordeal, I ended up spending over $800 and 8-10 hours of my time over the span of a month to do what should have cost $300 and taken 1.5 hours, not to mention any permanent damage which may have been done to my transmission as the result of Midas first installing the wrong part and then installing the part incorrectly. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE!!! read more

I was told to change the oil every 5,000 miles, even though the car manufacturer says 7,5000. I was told my almost new car needed the wheels balanced. I paid for it, and when my tire "alert" light went on, I called to see if I needed an appointment to have it checked. I was told that the problem was the light! Old cars don't have those lights, and mine just went off because it got cold? When I asked if there was anything I could do to make the light go off, he said "check the air in the tires" but never offered to do it, or to look at the car. read more

Had exhaust replaced, in Late September of last year before a trip out East. Had to bring the car back a second time in early October to fix the job since it was still loud. Now, the exhaust is loud again so I called the Appleton store, only to get a recorded message telling me that the Appleton store is "temporarily closed" and to call the Oshkosh store for any warranty issues, etc. SERIOUSLY? What am I supposed to do, drive a half hour both ways and wait around while they work on the car? It's not like I can drop it off and go about my day. I went to Midas, specifically because they are a large national chain and I wouldn't have to worry about whether they'd be around down the road for any issues. HUGE MISTAKE. It's bad enough that I'm still dealing with this exhaust, considering what I spent to have it fixed. Now, I have to chase down the people who did the job? REALLY bad form, Midas. read more

Took my Chevrolet Suburban in with an exhaust leak to get repaired. It has over 300,000 miles on it. Still runs great. They did a PERFECT job repairing the exhaust leak and could have tried to sell me other services on the older vehicle. I was very impressed with the fast service and honest pricing. I've had some of my other cars serviced here and the work is Spot On and correct. I would highly suggest anyone to use their service and talk with the manager, Chris. He'll make sure the work gets done right the first time and very reasonable pricing. They perform the same service as dealerships but at considerably lower pricing. I typically don't like to write reviews, but these guys have earned my trust and I want to thank them for doing a great job!! They run a very nice shop and give personal attention to every detail, so when you get your car back, you can rest assured it was repaired the right way. Great job guys!!! read more

I stopped into the Appleton Midas without an appointment as my cars exhaust sounded ruff and I wanted it checked out. They got my car in right away and within 10 minutes came and got me to look at the problem. They explained in detail what happened to cause the problem, and told me they had already gotten it all taken care of. When I went up to the counter to pay I was told, "No Charge just have a good day". I couldn't believe that I took up 20 minutes of their time and they charged me nothing! Being an older single women I could have easily been told I needed a new muffler or some other part of the exhaust system. I can tell you that the treatment I received today is a rare thing and I will not forget their kindness. I will be back and I will be recommending them to everyone. read more

Go to Gustman's instead (2400 W Spencer St, Appleton, WI (920) 733-6693) or anyone else that is more customer service driven without the nickel and diming. Greeted by a guy with a mouth full of chew (he -the guy with pics of himself and family at front desk-even had some drip out the side of his mouth... So gross) Was charged $77 for them to run a diagnostic (free at oreillys and most other parts stores.) They did not put the diagnostic fee towards service (Standard practice is to put diag fee towards service.) Reached out to corporate to see if this is corporate standard or specific to location; if i ever hear from them then ill update whether they made things right or not. read more

I had a 1995 Lexus and it wasn't blowing hot air, just cool air. I brought it over to have it check by them and they said they could get the hot air going so my window will defrost. After it was done they said they could only get my heat up by 2 degree, 2 degree? Seriously. My heat still blows cool air cause really what does 2 degree really do. Nothing. Don't have nothing fix there, they say they can get things done but offer you nothing but empty promises. Went over to auto trust and they fix it no problem. I stopped in at mutual way location for estimate on tires on my lunch brake. I am a business owner that has a location in same area as this store.I decided to stop in because a manager from this location left flyers at my business. When I walked in there was a man sitting behind the counter with ear buds in his ears listening to loud music staring at a computer. There was another gentleman helping a customer walking towards looked like the the garage area. I continued to wait for this person to help me and I never was even greeted although he made eye contact with me. I waited another 4 minutes then he got up and walked through a back swinging door with out ever helping me. I was appalled at this point and left! Went back to work..later in day I had called this midas to speak with manager to share my experience I was told that the person up front apparently "steve" was a tech. He apologized...but first impressions are important. .as a successful business owner I only hold highest standards for my customers. .want the same in return. Avoid the Midas in Appleton at all costs. Tracy, the woman who answers the phone, is just awful. She is discourteous and unknowledgeable. During our first phone call she was rude, but provided the estimate I requested. The next day she left a phone message with a different estimate. When I called to ask why there was a $400 price difference in the two estimates for the same work, she became defensive. I've sent a letter to the corporate office, posted a letter in my workplace mailroom to warn my coworkers, and have already told friends and neighbors to avoid Midas because of this shrew. Let's hope she's not representative of the supposed professionals Midas employs. read more
