Came here while visiting friends and a friend said the food was good, lies! When you enter the restaurant, it is not appealing whatsoever. Certainly not a place to sit and eat even though there are dinning tables which appeared to be unkept. This place serves what one would consider "southern" food. I ordered the catfish dinner (4pcs), with fried rice and collard greens. The catfish was not seasoned at all and were tasteless. The collard greens were basic, no meat or anything in them and very soggy. The friend rice was actually okay. My friend ordered the veggie platter (Mac and cheese, cheese broccoli, black eyed peas with white rice, and candied yams). The veggie platter did not look good to me but my friend said his food was good, I doubt it lol. I did notice frozen crab legs in one of the showcases so I will assume that they also steam seafood as well. I am not sure nor will I return to try. I ordered from Dessert by Mid Atlantic (I assumed that it was a bakery of sorts) because it was one of the few places that delivered desserts after 7 pm. For our order, we went with the Red Velvet Cheesecake, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Apple Walnut Bread Pudding. Overall, I thought the desserts were kind of meh. The cheesecakes were edible, but they tasted a bit bland. I can't put my finger on exactly what was, but something was missing flavorwise. I thought the bread pudding was pretty tasty. Since the bread pudding was about $11, I was a bit disappointed with the portion size of the dessert. I wonder if the bread pudding comes with ice cream when you order in person at the restaurant, which should be the only reason why it's $11. While nothing was horrible with our dessert order, I have a feeling that I might pass on another opportunity to have desserts from this place. read more

I really wanted catfish and from another restaurant close by but parking was a nightmare so I found myself back at Mid Atlantic. I had to update my previous reviews however, and in spite of the awesome communication and customer service from the manager Eric because of a few things I experienced during my last visit. I almost always try to place orders for carry-out online so I can to eliminate waiting in lines and tried to do just that for my order that night. I put everything in the cart, indicated that I was picking up and a tip option came up. Since I'm carrying out, I did not include a tip and proceed to the checkout screen...except that I noticed that the tip was still there. Thinking I'd made a mistake, I went back to the previous screen to remove the tip and despite my indicating a $0 tip, a 10% tip somehow made its way back into my cart. I tried to remove it a few more times but with no success. I could see someone proceeding to checkout and not noticing the included tip, which I'm hoping is an error and can be corrected. Because of the issue online, I went inside to place my order the old fashion way. There were 2 ladies in an exchange with the employee that took their orders because they'd been charged too much for the daily special and they were NOT happy about it. Lastly, while I always enjoy the catfish, the sides are another story and they need new recipes ASAP. Throw them all away and start over! Everything looks like it comes from a can and is minimally doctored up, if at all, to taste halfway good. My candied yams and Mac and cheese were flavorless even though, to their credit, they give really large portions. It's a waste though because both sides went into the trash. I will only order fried fish a la carte going forward or until something is done about those nasty sides. read more

This is one of those places I've passed by all my life and never thought to visit. Coincidentally, I've visited their other location in Hyattsville not too long ago. I didn't realize it was the same establishment until I entered and saw that the inside was styled the same way and they sold the same food items. I decided to try something different at this location. I've been craving fried fish lately, so I decided to get the three piece fried whiting with two sides. For sides I got green beans and mashed potatoes, and the meal came with two slices of white bread. The food was so good! I was in heaven! I especially loved the green beans. It was seasoned with I think a teriyaki sauce and had mushroom pieces mixed in it. Each fish fillet was pretty large and it was cooked to order. The wait time wasn't too bad even with a good amount of people in the restaurant. I definitely enjoyed everything I ate and love how huge the portions are. On Saturday, August 11, 2024, I ordered a dinner at this location. It consisted of turkey wings, cabbage and black eyed peas. I usually eat in, but the other two ladies with me wanted to take it out. When I opened the container I saw what appeared to be a hair in the peas. I lifted it out with a spoon, only to find it was the antenna of a roach covered in the juice from the black eyed peas. I was horrified and sickened by the thought that I could have eaten it. I have been going to that restaurant for years and have never lodged a complaint, but this needs to be reported. The health department must mandate and shut down for extermination purposes. We know that pests exist, but when they are cooked in the food, that is out of control. Beware, check your food.
