Like most customer stories recently, they are clearly overwhelmed with the volume of sales, even despite having a waitlist-centric system for getting into the store. I, too, had an online order that was never picked or made ready for me, so instead I had to wait 45 minutes to get into the store and grab the item off the shelf and purchase it normally. The representatives were nice and understanding, which was great. We're in a unique time for sure, but Micro Center would likely best serve the community if they did curbside pickup only, like Best Buy is doing, instead of this strange system where you are sprayed and forced to put on a mask to go into the store to pickup an online order. Can't fault them too much for that but again, I do suggest they do a straight curbside pickup only system instead. read more

Micro Center specializes in false advertising and then blames it on their website. On more than one occasion I've driven over 50 miles here only to be told that what is listed on their web site is not actually available. As I'm writing this, they are advertising that they have an EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 available for $890. No way all of their stock wouldn't have been sold out within seconds after opening if this was ever true. it's now about 2:30PM. They also refuse to confirm the availability of stock by phone, making this the perfect scam to force you to come down to the store. read more

I paid around $3000 for a custom desktop build on March 16, 2021. The online store only had open box Aorus x570 master motherboard, I went back the next day March 17, 2021, the sales guy brought me and said it was a brand new one, I asked him why the box was not sealed, he said that is how it is. So I bought 2 years protection plan for the motherboard just to be safe because I think they gave me the open box item and charged me as a new item. The protection plan not showing up in my account, it says Not carried at Tustin store, the page you requested has been moved or doesn't exist anymore. Look at the attached picture. Took me 35 mins to get someone on the phone, he said the store manager will call me today. I am still waiting. I went back to the store this morning to found out that for some reason this particular brand motherboard do not have a factory-sealed box. The online webpage does not update daily, the new product already in store. Customer service did the exchange for me anyway. Great service. It showed they had 3 in stock, I called to confirm but the phone number redirected me to the main automated Micro Center system with no option to ask a human if my product was for sure in stock. Just returned from my first time at Micro Center. This trip was a necessary one during COVID as I needed a part today with no time to ship. FRY's used to be my goto for electronic and computer components and well.... we all know the garbage dumpster fire they are now. So sad. The place is BUSY!!! People everywhere! Not very easy to social distance but upon entry, they spray your hands with disinfectant. The aisled are organized fairly well for having a crap ton of stuff. Good variety however they're very lean on the electrical component stuff that Fry's used to be awesome at. I found one item (last one in fact) that I was looking for.... a VGA M to M coupler. The other item... 3 pin molex connects and or a kit that would allow me to build my own was no where to be found. Worker said they don't carry that level of parts. Bummer. I found some shrink tubing which I didn't know I needed. haha. Got into the line which wrapped around in the inside of the store. Holy crap!! I'm used to Fry's lines being somewhat long but it was okay as they moved. This line was insane! it did move but very slowly and was exacerbated by the six foot distance between patrons. It was ridiculous and I heard other people once realizing how long the line was just turn away and leave. Okay Micro Center, that is your cue to listen and consider a bigger building. Since Fry's is dying on the vine, you are NOW GETTING all of their traffic. The Fry's building near 405 in Fountain Valley is HUGE compared to Micro Center. Take half the daily visitors and it still bloats the Micro Center building capacity. So... nice selection if you don't want to do mail order but don't expect entire selection like Fry's. Micro Center should occupy and takeover the Fry's building ASAP!!! They would easily fill it and could easily serve patrons faster! Good luck. Good to know MC exists, but I'll be ordering online from now on. read more

Order on line says 18 minute pick up. Arrive at store an hour later and wait in line to pick it up, says order hasn't been pulled yet and I should go pull it myself. Run around looking for the aisle and find the parts and have to wait in the fuc@ing long line again. One person working it so he looks over everyone's paperwork, questions them then disappears to pull order. Never again, I'll stay with other stores delivery. If I had waited for an email I never would have gotten the part I needed because at 3:46 I did get an email saying my reservation was cancelled because part was not available. So I placed order at 10:19 and they finally got around to pulling order 5 1/2 hours later. Maybe website should clarify the 18 minute pick up is how long you will have to wait in line once you get there. read more

I went here for the first time by myself and let me tell you that I got one of the worst, if not the WORST customer service I have ever gotten. Now I'm usually not one to do this and most of the time, I give people the benefit of the doubt but this experience was beyond me. I went to micro center to buy a new motherboard to upgrade my PC. A cashier named Filemon helped me and let me start off by saying that he gave me nothing but attitude. He immediately asked me if I wanted to buy a processor or have bought one since there's a discount and I told him no and he kept insisting which already annoyed me a bit but I understood because that's retail. Then he asked me if I wanted to purchase a $20 protection plan and I politely said "no thank you" and that's when everything went downhill. He said "motherboards are the most sensitive part of the PC, it's very delicate so if I were you, I would purchase it" I said no again because I already know motherboards are sensitive and I know how to work/take care of it since I built my PC myself. Then he proceeds on saying "so then what is this? Is this for retail or what?" And I told him no , he proceeds by saying "motherboards are one of our most returned item so I suggest you purchase the protection plan. BUT YOU WOULDNT KNOW THAT CAUSE YOU DONT WORK HERE SO" in a really rude tone, then he proceeded to interrogate me and said "have you built a PC before? What kind of motherboard do you have?" I said yes and I told him about my motherboard and why I wanted to upgrade and he stayed silent. THEN, he asked me "do you like UPS and FedEx??" At this point i was baffled and confused and he didn't even let me speak and said "Well I used to work for UPS and you know what they do? They just kick your box around and they don't care!!" And i said "I know, that's why I don't order my tech stuff online. I do it in person" then he said "WELL THATS WHAT YOURE GONNA HAVE TO DEAL WITH IF YOU DONT BUY THIS WARRANTY" and explain how I would have to ship it to another micro center and just all this bs that I was completely over with. I just wanted to get my stuff and leave! Then he asked me "so do you want it?" And for the last time I said no and he just kept talking and giving me attitude and at that point I was over it and stopped listening. As a woman who is into PC building and enjoy the hobby, I will never get why you'd want to do this to a CUSTOMER in a hobby that is very male dominated which is already a bit intimidating. I get that he's trying to promote the protection plan because of business but he went completely out of line and made me VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. I have never experienced a literal mansplaining happen before my eyes. It's not like I'm never gonna come back but ladies just watch out to some employees here because they will give you the side eye. I normally love Micro Center and I recently purchased the parts to build my little brother a entry level gaming PC for his birthday. However...... So today Micro Center in Tustin,CA received more that 25 Ryzen 9 5900x and Ryzen 9 5950x processors priced at $549.99 and $799.99 respectively. When I got off work at 4:30 there were 11 of each sku, so I decided to take the hour and a half trip to go up and get one processor, I didn't care which I got. Upon getting to the store, there were only 6 of the 5900x and 0 of the 5950x in stock according to the website. I proceeded to take a number and patiently waited my turn to get one of the 6 remaining units. Once my number is called, I talk to one of the associates and he says that they only have the Ryzen 5 5600x processors available. I walk away and decide to take a lap around the store to see if anyone had the 5900x in their possession. No one did. They apparently were put on hold, which should not be allowed unless they have already been paid for. Additionally, these units, due to high demand, were not available to be purchased online or reserved. I was about 10 feet away from the product I drove nearly 100 miles to purchase because their stock said they had 6 remaining. I was not allowed to purchase the processor because of Micro Center's idiotic hold policy and I was told by a manager that the people who wanted these processors were still shopping in the store. I left extremely perturbed and once I got home I checked the stock and only 1 of the 6 processors had been picked up and paid for at the time of the store closing, 9 pm. I expect to see the remaining 5 picked up tomorrow by people that will post the processors on eBay and proceed to be the scum of the earth by scalping these highly in demand products. Extremely disappointed and a better system needs to be implemented. read more

Store is fine. Staff are friendly but not as knowledgeable as they try to seem. Always verify what they say on manufacturers' websites. In the past, I have been advised to get m2 nvme for m2 sata device (not compatible and had to return). Have been ill advised on monitor connectors and media encoders as well. Typically have to wait 15-30 minutes to go inside. Typically have to stand in checkout line for at least 30 minutes. Leaving a negative review finally, because I've been here once a week for the last month and have found that only 25% of their cash registers have been manned each time despite the lines. An unexpected rush is one thing. A pattern like this is pretty bad. As someone who has managed customer service in retail, this speaks to understaffing or poor scheduling. During COVID times, their goal should be to get people through the lines as quickly as possible. read more

I saw an ad for a refurbished Dell 7010 desktop computer with solid state hard drive at Micro Center. I though, well, why not, I'd never been to Micro Center before but I could use a replacement for my desktop at my home office and it seemed like a good price at $269. So off I went to buy one. The store was busy on a Saturday, but I was approached quickly by a young man who got my computer for me, put it in my cart and off I went to pay. Service was very quick and easy. Checkout is a bit of a wait, but that happens at busy times I suppose. Got home and opened the box and... I was quite disappointed at what I saw. It was indeed a Dell 7010 desktop computer, but it looked terrible. The corners were banged up, it had ink doodles from a marker or sharpie on the front, and various pieces were scratched and worn. The metal case had some dents as well. I removed the cover to look inside and it was very dirty and dusty. I have bought "refurbished" electronics over the years, but this computer did not look refurbished... it was just used. I checked the manufacture date and it was made in 2014. Yup, it's a 5 year old computer with someone else's dirt in it and plenty of wear. The computer I was replacing was two years newer than that, a 2016 model, and it looked far better than this one. Trying to be a good sport and go with the original idea of replacing my desktop computer, I connected everything and powered it up. The minimal instruction sheet (a tiny one written in basic English) said it's normal to wait 20 minutes for the first time booting up. So I waited. And I waited. And I waited some more. After an hour, I was still on the "Let's see what's new with Windows!" screen. So I powered down, and powered up again. And again, after an hour of waiting, the computer got stuck at the same screen. I tried a third time. No luck. So, after 3 hours of screwing around with this dirty and used pile of crap, I put it back in the box and took it back. The return process was quick and easy. No questions asked. I'm sure the computer was just returned to stock and is waiting to be sold again, and will likely waste another poor sucker's Saturday afternoon. Nice people, lots of selection, but this was not a good experience. I'll just learn my lesson, and buy my computers brand new at a reputable big box store. read more

Micro Center is very nice, big selection for CPU's and GPU's I actually got a prebuilt gaming system and a 240hz monitor there. Micro center also offers a lot of Preferences, they have a razor section and they offer keyboards (60% and higher) and they also offer gaming mice. Big selection of monitors and cases they also have a racing simulator which you can try out. They have a pc building workshop where you can buy the parts and they can built the pc for you or you can build it yourself. Overall micro center is a very interesting and cool place. read more

I ordered a new tower from Micro Center online, and unfortunately due to some rough handling on its way to me, the tempered glass on the case side panel was cracked when it arrived. The glass further spider-webbed while I was setting up my new system. Huge bummer! I called in to see what could be done, and the guys at the Tustin store were incredibly helpful! They set up an appointment for me to come in to the store so they could swap out the door for me. I live about 2 hours away, so it was going to be a long day any way you slice it, and I started to get some anxiety thinking about my past experience with returns/exchanges at other stores... Should I have packed up the broken glass to "prove" I had this issue? Would there be a hassle over how the glass was broken? Could it really be as easy as I was promised on the phone? YES, it was just that easy! Ariou met me at the door for our appointment and got me in and out lightning fast. I was so impressed with how kind and helpful he was! He fitted the new door on and quickly went over how to clean and maintain this particular case. I was on my way again in about 5 minutes! THANK YOU, Micro Center! I wanted to support a "local" business during COVID-19. I've generally had good experiences at Microcenter. So I thought I'll do an in store pickup at Microcenter. Only to find out they have some horrible setup where they make instore pickup people wait in some appointment based entry system. Even better they don't actually have the order pulled for you, so you have to wander through the disease filled store, which is what I did the last time I went there, and hopefully is the last time I'm ever there. read more

I am happy to rate this place 5 stars once they ACTUALLY stop selling GPUs to scalpers. People are hiring others to wait in line for them so they can buy and re-sell GPUs, lining up chairs to hold places, etc., and they are violent and threaten regular people that simply want a GPU for their own personal use. I have seen this take place and apparently it's been happening over and over and over again. Microcenter needs to: 1. Ban people from doing this. There's a super problematic scalper that seems to know someone in management or something since they always know when there will be a new drop/starts fights when confronted about cutting the line etc., and they still allow them to buy out the supplies with the people this person pays to stand in line every time. 2. Change their GPU selling system - there should be a random lottery locals can enroll in. To sell to people "waiting in a line" enables scalpers to have your authentic customers like myself incredibly fed up. I have multiple computers and have recommended everyone to this location, prior to these repeated incidents. They don't seem to value customer loyalty at all. 3. Consider making it harder to resell these items. Sell them out of box, pay attention to returning customers that interact with people in line... literally just do something to help stop this unethical practice. This location needs to stop "looking into" the problem and immediately make it known that the PROVEN scalpers are no longer welcome at their location, period. If a manager would like to reach out to me for details, I am happy to provide plenty of footage and witnesses that the current state of GPU purchases is not only dangerous, but ENABLED by this location. read more

I scheduled an appointment here to get my computer fixed. Confirmed days in advance that they could do it on the same day. Upon arrival, the service technician was very arrogant, verified the issues I was having but told me it would take at least five days for them to ship it out or to order the parts but I could not keep my computer while parts are being ordered. Which is a complete contradiction to what I was told when I had called in to verify the repair can be done on the same day. Staff is unfriendly. Parts will be told they are in stock but upon arrival they are not. I'll absolutely avoid this place In the future. The only positive was listening to other customers lose the on the repair and customer service staff about being sold machines that don't work or how they won't help. Good customer service. Easy to find parking. Downfall? You can find all this stuff on Amazon for either the same price or cheaper. Sometimes you can find better deals on Amazon compared to the selection they have here. So what's great about this place? They always have coupons that they mail you which has free stuff. No purchase necessary free stuff. That's right, I've gotten an SD card, a USB flash drive, and a micro sd card! All free! They always send ads with coupons to your address. Love it! 3.5 stars but rounding up (I love free stuff). The inside looks run down and old school. Also the lines to check out takes quite awhile and their computer check out systems are extremely outdated (looks like ms-dos) Haha. I feel like frys electronics has a wider selection for everything compared to micro center. Reserved an item on Wednesday. Email stated I had till today, Friday November 26 before closing. Got there an hour before closing and the worker at the online pick up said they placed it back on the sales floor and sold it since they said it's been on hold for days. According to the email it said as long as I was there before closing which I was. I would of picked it up yesterday but they were closed. Maybe they sold it due to black friday. But if you're going to reserve an item for a customer till closing, it should not be put back till closing time. read more

Drove up from San Diego vs ordering online from newegg or amazon and getting hit with something that appears to be sold new but isn't - as both have racked up a reputation for. - prices are great - this is a nerd's dream store, a warehouse of everything *actually* tech, not just the bare basics best buy or other similar stores sell. They had components, keyboard stuff, water cooling aisles, every laptop imaginable, raspberry pi stuff, a 3d printing area, APC external battery systems, repair and help for pc building....truly everything and then some at great prices - workers were helpful, actually know what they're doing, and don't feel like they're trying to just upsell you - the store warranty is great. As someone who recently tried to repair an old gpu for the first time (seemed to just need new thermal pads and thermal paste, watched a tutorial knowing the risk and thinking it seemed simple enough....and yet I still broke something, gpu technically worked but something went wrong somewhere where the fans don't work anymore so the gpu crashes and I get emergency power shutdowns. Whoops! I didn't get that old out of warranty gpu from microcenter so I'm just SOL, but learned when buying a new one here that their 3y store warranty does cover all the things manufacturers don't cover (even the stuff that's their fault) as well as some stuff that's "expected repair" like replacing thermal pads. Wild people are downrating microcenter, this place rocks and is really trustworthy. read more
