This is a computer supermarket where you will find everything you need for your computer and then some. It is great for the hobbyiest who needs individual computer parts or hard-to-find adapters. Unfortunately, this place can also be a zoo with some of the worst customer service you will find. Their 18Minute-Online-pickup is a joke. On one occasion, they could not find the held items. On another, I stood 1st in line and waited and waited while cashiers were just standing there with no customers. The manager was just standing there ignoring me and doing paperwork. I finally left and ordered the same items on Amazon for about the same price. Often times store employees are unavailable when you need to find out where they stock things--did I say this was a supermarket? My recommendation is to use Microcenter only if absolutely needed and you can't wait. read more

I love micro centers. They offer great products at competible prices with a wide variety of options. One thing I appreciate the most is their service desk. I am not sure how or why anyone would ever purchase computer gear, and all that includes as well as TV's from anyplace else. They have them or they can build. The prices run from...'you have to be kidding me; really that cheap' to 'it is still cheaper then BB'. The only down side I have experienced, and it is not every time, is the lack of knowledge from some of the staff. They usually find someone that can help, but some of them are really lost. Just drove an hour to find out they're not accepting cash although there is no mention of that when I looked up the 300 dollar hard drive I came for on their web page and unless I go to a store I have no need being in to pay fees and buy a prepaid card I cannot make my purchase. I understand they want to be safe but is it really safer if you're making your customers put money on a card at another establishment to make a purchase? Man, I wish we had this store in Rochester! I'm surprised... because Rochester is a tech savvy populated with many thriving Mom & Pop computer stores. Reminds me of a radio shack and circuit city merged together. They had some really neat items that have been hard to find in other stores.

Re-posting this review since the owner got it removed because apparently they don't believe in free speech and have no integrity, or even the courage to respond to my review and would rather have it removed to make themselves look better. Below is my experience. I would rate this place 0/5 stars if I could. I brought my laptop in for them to figure out what was wrong with it, just for them to replace the motherboard and for me to take it home and immediately see that the problem was not fixed. I brought it back and they then determined it was the SSD that was the problem in the first place, they then made me PURCHASE AN SSD THROUGH THE STORE, even though the computer was under warranty. I then brought my computer back in for them to fix both of my shift keys and they claimed they solved the issue by simply cleaning them, just for me to take it home again and immediately see that the issue was again not fixed, and I dealt with it until I was available to bring it back in. I then came back to town to bring my computer back in for them to fix my shift keys, they made me pay a diagnostic fee even though I told them what was wrong with it, and they quote me with an absurd price for them to fix it because my warranty ran out and it was outside the store's policy for their 'warranted work' , even though this problem should have been discovered and addressed when I brought the computer in the FIRST time under warranty. It's almost like they knew my warranty was running out soon and wanted me to bring it back in just so they could charge me, just like the last time I went to them for service. The service department is clueless in identifying a problem and fixing it, I do not understand how they can return my laptop to me TWICE and when I take it home I immediately see they did not fix both issues TWICE. They clearly just want your money as everything is overpriced with them. I spoke with the general manager about my problems with the store and he said I needed to take 'ownership' in bringing my computer back in under warranty, no sir, YOU need to take 'OWNERSHIP' over your store's INEPT service work, all he tried to do was get money from me. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX COMPUTERS AND IS JUST A WASTE OF YOUR TIME, GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE, IT CANNOT BE WORSE THAN THIS PLACE, THIS PLACE IS THE BIGGEST SCAM EVER, THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY. read more

I brought my laptop in to have the keyboard fixed: They said it had to be sent to the manufacturer to be replaced. It took almost 2 and a half months for me to receive the laptop back. Lastly, I don't believe they actually replaced the keyboard considering the A key is usable, but broken. I do not recommend the repair shop. I understand with Covid, it is a lot. Please just make me aware of that, and I will shut up. read more

On Friday, I brought in my laptop since the mouse track pad isn't working. They were fine on that day, and helped me out. I left my laptop there for diagnosis/repairs. Then, on Saturday I get a call letting me know they have started repairs on my laptop - good, great, they are keeping me in the know. Flash forward FIVE DAYS. I have gotten no calls or updates. So I call in myself. No big deal, since I am sure they are constantly swamped. But then.... they put me on hold for 15+ minutes AND HANG UP. I'm not kidding, call just dropped. The first time I thought I might have done something. The second time I went to a place in my house with better reception. The third time I got upset. And now, the fourth time, I'm just about ready to call their cooperate offices..... Too long? In person customer service is fine. Phone customer service is stupid. read more

The quality of their products are great but the service/knowledge of their employees is something this Microcenter needs to work on. I recently was given my Dad's old PC after he just had it repaired at Microcenter. The repair went well and the computer was working fine, however I needed to buy a new monitor to go with it. I picked out a monitor myself and had brought the PC with me to make sure I was getting the right fit. I asked a random employee by the TVs/monitors if this would connect to my PC just fine or if I needed any extra adapters/cables or cords and they assured me I was all set so I checked out and went home. After struggling to connect the monitor to the PC for several hours I called the store only to be told I needed to buy a new adapter. I was not happy, seeing as I had to buy a whole new adapter cable to match the one that fit my PC. The representative told me over the phone what kind I needed so I drove all the way back to Microcenter and asked someone to help me find the adapter. They assured me, once again it would fit and once again I was stuck trying to shove an oversized adapter into my PC. I had to go back to Microcenter and get another new adapter. Three trips and one exchange later, I finally was able to connect my monitor to my PC. The last employee was helpful, but I shouldn't have had to return to the store THREE freakin' times. read more

I went here with a plan to build my own computer. I left with the parts to build a better computer for ~$150 less. I did my own research to build a computer and consulted a friend on which parts are choice. We pored over the Micro Center add and picked the comparable parts that gave us the best bang for the buck. I went to the store and picked out the parts and went to check out and a clerk noticed that the liquid cooling fan I selected would not fit the case I selected. He then walked through the store with me upgrading all of my components for less money with the detailed knowledge that only a true computer guy possess. I am writing this review on my super sleek machine and will return to build another computing beast in the future. read more

Frankly, I am disappointed! Just last week I brought in my desktop computer for repair after its motherboard was damaged due to overheating. Doug- the technician did a good job diagnosing and replacing the motherboard. I was charged total $130 just for service (plus the actual motherboard was around $59), which was okay until I found that they had NOT even bothered to clean the fan and dust from inside my PC which in turn had caused it to overheat! I mean any amateur would know this! Guess what now my PC is overheating and shutting down intermittently despite a three day old motherboard. Dust is still visible clogging the fan! This was despite my repeated requests that just replacing the motherboard is not okay until we correct the root cause of heating. I have cleaned it myself now and hope this works. I am sorry but I am disappointed. read more

Had an HP laptop keyboard replaced for $150 and 12 1/2 months later the keyboard is not working. This is on a PC that is kept in Florida and used 8 weeks of the year. Called Micro Center and the warranty is 30 days labor and 90 days parts. Take this into consideration if you are having repair work done by Micro Center. read more

The original purchase experience was pretty good. I likely would have given them a four star rating. But then I had issues with my PC. I placed several calls and consistently got stuck in wait queues before the calls were dropped. I eventually got in touch with someone via chat. They were kind but essentially unable to help. I asked to make an appointment for service, but was informed the store doesn't take appointments. I was told to stop into the store and they'd take care of it. I stopped into the store and was told the service center was booked. They'd take my PC, look at it in a day or two, and get back to me. This has been a very disappointing experience. I purchased a Mac from these guys and really wish I hadn't. The Apple Store takes great care of their customers. Microcenter, on the other hand, seems to be unable to care less about their customers. read more

MicroCenter is Geek heaven. Truly if you are a techno geek like lost of my family and friends then this is your go to for reasonably priced parts as well as fully built computers or laptops. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and while they do help you they are - for the most part- not pushy. I cannot stand trying to shop and being hawked like I am on a used car lot. Whenever I want to actually see and touch something before I buy it or if I need to have it right away, I make the one-hour trip from Akron. The people who work there know how to help you find what you need. My last time there was Black Friday. I was in the process of buying a computer when the manager introduced himself and gave me his business card - not because I "asked to see someone's manager" but because he was walking the floor and saw that an associate was already in the process of getting the computer I picked out and wanted to be sure things were going OK (they were busy but had extra staff on hand to handle the crowd). I see other nitpicky reviews and they make me roll my eyes. I'm all for holding vendors to a high standard, but where else would someone go to get better service and selection for all things computer? This place is unique and I will keep coming back. The greater Cleveland area offers a wide range of houses of worship, catering to every spiritual need. My chosen church: Micro Center. They have everything. A playground of tech goodies from Legos to kids' electronics kits to game accessories to speakers to laptop luggage--and, yes, computers too, including parts for PC-builders a nice hands-on Apple mini-store. Every weird unusual part or connector I need seems to be there, and the staff is helpful (some are knowledgeable, the rest are willing to put in some research time). They clearly work on commission, but I haven't found them to be pushy, and I always try to make sure whoever helped me gets to put their sticker on what I buy. Watch for the shelves/bins with yellow tags: closeout or open-box deals! I was able to get an obscure camera battery, some Mac games, and a cheap iPad case, without running all over town and ending up waiting for Amazon in defeat. The return policy is painless also. And they have some great deals: cheapest prices I've ever seen on current-model Macs, even better (during certain temporary sales) than Amazon. And they keep previous-model Macs in stock to offer even cheaper/lower-end Macs than Apple themselves sells. Glad to have such a useful resource in the area. read more

Extremely Disappointed. Our company has purchased over 30 laptops/desktops from Microcenter over the past 3 years. Also Accessories, Speakers, etc. Stupidly we purchase the warranties as well. We had a PC that had to be serviced under the warranty. Brought the PC in and were told it would be several days before they could look at it. The warranty says that if purchased you receive expedited service. 5 days in my opinion is not expedited. The customer service rep said their workload was to much (they didn't tell me that when they sold me the warranty). Then i get a call that it would be $80 to back up the PC. Please remember the warranty also says no hidden fees. This is the definition of a hidden fee! Being a long time customer, I think they burned our relationship into dust. I set out to purchase a new computer from there, since I was too lazy to price parts and order then online. Then, I ran into Robert. He asked me what my budget was, and what was I looking for. At that point he sold me on buying parts and building my own. We talked nerd language for about an hour and in the end I walked out of there with all the parts for brand new top of the line computer for less than I had originally planned to spend. He talked me through all the parts, gave me options for parts and even spent time looking up part specs. He was not at all pushy about buying parts that were more expensive, and he knew what he was talking about. Since then I've gone back and sought him out for advice. They have every computer part you could ever need, and their prices are the same as if not better than most online retailers. read more

I wish there was one closer to where I live. This is a one hour drive, one way, just to visit. I CAN'T say enough to make this a more awesome place. When you 1st walk out the door, a sales rep will greet you and ask if you can be directed to what your looking for. On my most recent trip, My hubby was looking for a new laptop and the guy directed us to the laptops and found another person who could further help us. Within 30 minutes, hubby found the laptop made for him. The whole experience was made better by the fact that they interacted with our 2 boys and offered some computer games on their floor models to keep them busy so we could shop with relative peace. This is a geek paradise. What a great store compared to Best Buy and the like. I wish to the high holy heavens that there was another on the west side. (Perhaps it's better there is only the one in the Cleveland area...) My office is up the street from this store. I honestly have to avoid going here, as I would blow my paycheck if not careful. Last time I went, I impulse purchased a new notebook. MMMMMM... I love me a nerd store. (Ok... I needed a replacement notebook, but it really was an impulse purchase.) :) The staff knows what they are talking about, I've rarely had a problem here. Returns are effortless. And gadgets? Oh... they have them. I can wander the aisles here for hours if left unchecked. They have a nice selection of tech books. It used to be a bigger/better selection, but I'm not complaining. Sure, you can buy a lot of books online, but sometimes you need to flip through to see if it's the right book for you. I truly avoid buying anything at my local Best Buy, if I can wait until a weekday, and go during or after work. The wait is always worth it. read more

The staff is fairly knowledgeable and honest and do not trick you into buying things you do not need. If for some reason the product is bad or does not fit your needs, the return is hassle free. This store is still my all time favorite store. I come here over Best Buy any day! The staff is always amazing. Helpful. Knowledgeable. And go out of their way. The ONLY reason I am marking the experience 2 stars is because of the management. I price matched 2 items with Amazon. And they were very small items. An Apple Pencil Case and a Logitech Universal Remote Control. Maybe $30.00 less than what the store prices in total was. Now mind you, Micro Center advertises that they price match Amazon at manager discretion. I could understand if I was price matching a $1,000 item for $500 or something outrageous. Also keep in mind, I have spent hundreds and thousands of dollars here as well. Between myself, and my IT company, a ton of money!!! When the manager comes over to the employee that was helping me, I made a compliment and told him I would rather shop at Micro Center, than order off the internet at the actual Amazon website. He proceeds to get very, very rude with me and laughed. He then said, and I quote!!! "Well if you keep doing this, you're going to be shopping at Amazon." And if you're asking who this is, his name is ***BILL***. AGAIN HIS NAME IS BILL!!!!!!!! I told him how much money I always spend there, and he couldn't have cared less. I have done business off and on with Micro Center in the last several years. Every time it has been really good. Don't get me wrong if you go there at peak times you may wait to talk to associate. I have noticed that a lot of salesmen often feel like the have to "earn" their sale. Just like fishing. You gotta involve yourself in the deliberate process of throwing the rod, freezing in rubber boots in water,waiting out and then ...ooops you are rewarded with some perch. So do the computer salesmen of Micro Center - in heir natural habitat, a new interesting breed (half-geeks/half-salesmen) will have no interest to the villain who skipped all the steps of the game (asking about speed, battery life, processor) and said: " Hey can anyone here cell me this laptop? I like it because it's shiny, silver and lightweight." To them it's a crime equivalent maybe to putting salt first without even trying chief's best creation. The salesman has to pick you up at the entrance, "adopt you" , educate you and then set you up with the computer. When they ask you:" Do you have any questions", you should jump: " I do, I do, I do! Enlighten me!" And we didn't do that. Basically after that we went on chasing them around in this claustrophobic muti-eyed (TVs and laptops) teched-out room. It literally took us 35 (!) minutes of continuous begging and semi-illegal stalking ( I was literally breathing down the neck of some of them), to sell us wretched $400 laptop. And it literally happened when one of the salespeople just stumbled into us : " You guys need something?" Until then they were walking "through" us as if we all had cloaks of invisibility. I get it. We didn't ask about the processor. Or memory card. We didn't play their sale's game. But get this, geek kids. Sometimes good things in life happen like this: someone walks in and gives you $400. And you just need to cash customer out and "have a good day" playing your exhausting mind games. 3 minutes of your time. We part our barbaric and geeky ways.
