I'm always cautious about giving people access to certain things that I hold dear like, my laptop, but I really needed a solution. I called a few places but landed on E-Tech because of the phone convo I had with Tyler. I went in and Tyler let me know they'd do the best they could to try to fix the problem in 24-48hrs. Steve was amazing at listening and communicating as well as repairing. I was able to bring in a Nintendo switch motherboard and the part I needed replaced and he was able to diagnose to confirm the issue as well as finish the repair. I know where I am taking my future console and pc repairs to now thanks to Steve. Wish I could go lower than 1... Steve has horrible communication skills and doesn't value the customer unless he knows he's making money off of them. Was referred to him so I took my laptop in to see what was wrong with it. It needed a new screen so I had a conversation about pricing with him and then told him I'd do some research on my own and get back to him. I never could get back in touch with him personally, just another employee that works there. After constantly trying to get in touch, and being told the prices went up, I decided to just take my laptop back. I went to pick it up and it was all in pieces.... Didn't have the decency to put it back together the way it was given to him. Pure laziness because he wasn't going to make money on my sale. Recently had some PS4 maintenance completed. They were quick (dropped it off in the morning, picked it up in the afternoon). Originally was just wanting a cleaning and a touch up on the thermal paste. They called before they did any work. Told me my fan was bad (my playstation sounded like a 747 during take off) I was expecting it to take a couple of days to get the part ordered. They said we've got it in stock. You'll have it in an hour. And I did. Price was fantastic. Service was great and my playstation hasn't made a peep since. I'm actually hearing sounds in games I've never heard before because of the no longer roaring system. I even had a follow up question and issue they handled it with ease and pleasure. DO NOT GO HERE. Would give a 0 start review if possible. Absolute worst place you can take equipment in for repair - I brought my MacBook Pro in because a few keys were not working from a coffee spill. There was a nice older working and a younger one - the older man let me know they would do no work until I got my free diagnostic call & the younger one gave me the price of what a new keyboard would cost. I did not hear anything until I called a few days later, they told me I would need an entire new logic board for $750 or I could buy the same computer used from them. I did not want to move forward with this option but later found they had replaced my keyboard anyway & were trying to charge me $250 for that - even though I said NOT to do any work at all. Three phone calls later, the younger worker was VERY aggressive with me, saying that I was "confused" and that the apple store must have quoted me for that $750 logic board. He said they would not give my laptop back the way I dropped it off and threatened to rip out the keyboard, leaving me with a non-working laptop. Finally they reviewed security footage and the older gentleman admitted & apologized for misquoting me on the logic board, but said I still had to pay for the keyboard work they completed. I offered a lower payment & he accepted - but left the phone off the hook at the end of the call. The younger worker REPEATEDLY called me a bitc* and yelled at the older man. He said they would not give the laptop back when we would come by to pick it up "and what is that lady even gonna do about it." We finally got my laptop back & I immediately noticed the keyboard WAS NOT EVEN NEW, clear wear and tear all over they keys, they lied and still wanted a full payment. I will NEVER take any equipment back to Etech - worst customer service, biggest egos, takes forever for them to call you. read more

Steve is a very helpful and nice computer repair guy! He upgraded my Macbook OS for me and looked over an issue I was having with my screen. What I love is that he basically told me that the cost to repair the screen might not be worth the small issues I was having and recommended not making the repair unless it someday gets worse - he didn't charge me for the analysis of my problem and only charged me for the OS updates he installed. It's a sign of an honest person when they tell you that you don't need to spend money on something they're being paid to do! That's definitely not easy to find. I also really appreciated that he makes sure you really understand what he's saying - he asks questions to see how comfortable you are with computers to make sure he explains it in the appropriate level of detail. He's working out of his home which is probably a big part of why he's able to offer good deals on repairs - I just wanted to let people know the house part so they aren't confused when they show up at this address and it's just a house in Lakewood! I can confirm that he's very legit, professional and friendly. If or when my screen does someday get worse, I'd trust him to fix it for me without overcharging me like the Apple store surely would. read more

One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. After doing some DIY diagnosing and researching of a problem I experienced with my MacBook Pro, which was then confirmed by a visit to my local Apple Store Genius Bar, I brought it to this place which I was told about by another local computer repair business who does not work with Macs. I was hoping to support a small, local business. The lady at the counter asked what my issue was, so I told her that I think I either need a new hard drive, or perhaps just a new hard drive cable. She replied, with obvious sarcasm, "we just love when people do their own diagnostics." I described the problems that I experienced (and researched), and told her that I had previously visited the Genius Bar, so it's not just my opinion. The next day they quoted me a price to replace the hard drive which was no cheaper than the Genius Bar, which had phenomenal customer service, so I decided to not have E-Tech do the repairs. I tried twice to pick up my machine during the hours they posted as when they'll be open on their door and phone message only to find their doors locked. When I spoke to the lady about this after the second time, she said in a snarky tone, "I know what it says on our door." She gave me a ballpark time of when they might decide to open that day (almost 2 hours later than posted). When I arrived during the timeframe she specified, I again found the doors locked. At least she responded to my phone call and came to open the door and give me my machine back. Go elsewhere with your repair needs. It's not worth dealing with the hassle or the snark and condescension. read more

E-Tech gave me a free quote within a couple of days and ended up fixing the existing chip for the video card and it cost 1/4 of the price. As the lady behind he counter did not look at the voltage on the device and put 12volts to it and it only takes 4.5. Any way I first took it there 2/11/17 and I have called repeatedly and always get the same run around and have never gotten a return call ever. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this place. This place is awful. I took in an old iPod touch that worked fine except for the touch screen. I was 99% sure the problem was the digitizer. Long story short I took it in and they would NEVER EVER get back to me. I always had to call, and if they weren't there, forget about leaving a message and having them call back. I would go in, and it would be like they remembered that I existed, take a look at my iPod in front of me, say say something like "Yeah I think it's ______. We'll get back to you with a quote." Then they would not get back to me.....ever. They had my iPod for 9 months (I would honestly forget they had it). Finally I went back in (after I could get NO CONTACT from them for about a month because the store was moving. They said "they don't make the replacement parts you need anymore" so I asked for my iPod back, and it was ruined beyond belief. Some asshole had taken off the screen and put it back all lopsided. Have a pc that's running slow. All my granny porn slowing it down I bet. Called these dudes and the address on Google shows Harlon, right around the corner. Wrong. They moved farther down Detroit. Called and told dude that I must have a virus. Would not give me a quote over the phone...not even a ballpark. Obnoxious, but I decided to just drive down, get a quote and let them fix it if it wasn't too much. When I get there (in the middle of the afternoon, mind you) the door was locked. Another kid waiting outside was let in by some dude with keys that gets out of some haggard, grey car sitting on the side street. So, at this point its me, the kid and one of the workers all going in at the same time. The website said they should be open already. As we all walk in the dude with keys runs to the register, takes cash out and heads back out the store to hand cash to kid in haggard grey car. Leaving us alone in the store. All the while, some OTHER dude come from back room and asks us "who's next". Soooooo, this other dude was locked in the store the whole time? Why lock up if there is a person IN the store, working. Whole thing is odd and this isn't my first rodeo. I know the kid in the haggard car outside wasn't selling him friggin' Girlscout cookies. Do your business elsewhere, holmes. The whole thing was shady and akward. If ya own a business, BE OPEN WHEN YOU SAY YOU ARE and wait on paying customers before grabbing cash and handing it off to someone in a waiting car outside. Also, 2 of the 3 shining reviews for this place are from people with one and two reviews. Lilly's is the only one I would trust. Way to pad your stars, guy. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. I took my MacBook Pro here back and forth 4 times. I paid for a graphics/video play issue to be fixed and every time I thought it was good to go and was told to pick it up, I took it home and there was a new or same issue with it (new issue with board, battery, etc). The problem that I paid to be fixed was never resolved so I requested either a refund or to give them one last opportunity to fix. My email requests were ignored and never responded to. So altogether I paid for them to fix a problem that was never fixed, I wasted a lot of time and gas $ driving back and forth there 4 times, and was then ignored for a refund nor even offered a solution to the problem. My Macbook Pro has been in and out of E-Tech for the last four months. First, they replaced my battery. It ended up being a bad battery, and it took them a month to get the battery replaced. "Stuck in customs" they said. Still had issues so brought back in again. This time it was determined that my display was bad. I paid $250 cash as a deposit to order new display. Said it would take two days. Two WEEKS later they told me that when replacing the display they found that logic board was damaged. And that they didn't "feel comfortable" fixing it. So I told them to put old display in, and I would pick up my computer and my $250. It's now been a month, and they still haven't given me my money back. Michelle, the front desk lady, was always nice and very apologetic, but the owner Steve was never there when I was, and they didn't keep cash on hand (!?!). Absolutely unacceptable. I just called today and their voicemail isn't even working. They have $250 of my money, and don't have any capital to refund their customer. Please don't spend your time or money on this "company." Incredibly unprofessional. I've just lodged complaint with the BBB today. Oh, and the other company I've taken my computer to has said that they stripped screws and damaged fan when they took it apart. FIND A REPUTABLE REPAIR COMPANY. This one, sadly, is not. read more

We took our son's Ipad Mini to get the glass replaced after it shattered from a drop. The company was reasonably priced and local which is a plus. They got our iPad in timely and were able to fix the glass. Both employees were friendly and knowledgeable. However, within a couple days we noticed a spider like crack radiating from the corner of the iPad - the corner that was the impact corner when it was broken. When we picked up the iPad, the owner said that he didn't need to do anything to that corner when he replaced the glass and we were good to go. When I called the company to talk to them about the cracks on the new glass they told me that my son probably dropped it again - which he didn't. The only solution they would give us was that we could pay for another piece of glass and they would replace it. The company has a 30 day guarantee on their receipt, but were quick to blame the customer on the secondary crack rather than consider it an issue with the work. Why would I pay more money to fix an issue with a repair that I am not satisfied with and have no guarantee that it doesn't happen again because they fail to look at the cause of the secondary break being their issue? They stopped returning my phone calls and the owner has yet to talk to me about the issue. Sad, because all in all I was very happy with the company and was ready to post a great review. If E-Tech Computers would like to resolve this issue, I will be more than happy to return to Yelp to modify my review. read more

Beware of this Company. The owner Steve does not know what he is doing at all. He obviously just looks at stuff on YouTube and attempts to fix things for money. You could do better yourself. He tried to tell me I need a new computer because he couldn't install windows on it. Then told me he would take my 'broken' one off my hands and sell me another used one he had laying around- like he was doing me a favor. I decided not to take his advice and got a second opinion. It turned out my PC only needed a replacement DVD drive- a $20-dollar part. Essentially he tried to steal my computer which i bought for gaming that was worth about $1K and sell me a $250 Dell. Brought my laptop in to them for a virus removal and was told it would be done in a few days. After not hearing anything and several messages and a week later I finally got a hold of them and was told it would be ready the next day. When I went in to get it it was torn apart and upon voicing my concern was told off by Todd. He went as far as to tell me and my friend to go stand in the corner and he belittled and mocked us. When I took my laptop back and plugged it in it kept starting and shutting off repeatedly. I had brought it in in perfect working condition other than the virus running in the background and got it back with the motherboard destroyed. And to top it off I was forced to pay a $25 diagnostics fee or they wouldn't give it back to me. I've reported them to the Better Business Bureau and other agencies. read more

As others have said, I would give this place a 0 if I could. While they could not fix my iPad, my issues with this place is how they operate. I dropped off one of my parents iPads the first week of December (3rd) hoping to get it back to them in time for the holiday. Two weeks go by and I hear nothing. I figure it is the holiday season and give them time. On December 18th I finally call to inquire about the status. I get some long answer as to there tech (they contract out services FYI) has been sick for 2 weeks but is coming in the next day and they will call me with an answer. A day goes by and I hear nothing. Call back on the 21st, get the same answer, promises it will be looked at and they will call me no matter what at the end of the day. Another day goes by and no call. Same song and dance saying it will be done no matter what by the 24th. That day comes and goes with no call. I called back again on the 28th. Again, same song and dance. Tech has been out but they will get to it (3 weeks now) and they promise I will get a call back tomorrow. Guess what, no call at all. At this point I gave up trying. When I went to get pick up my iPad, they gave it back to me, minus the home button, and said they could not do anything with it. Again, when you read this, whether or not they could fix it (AND THEY COULD NOT BECAUSE THEY CONTRACT OUT) is not the issue. It is about how they run a business, which is very, very poorly. There is a reason the address for this place is listed at someones home instead of the their actual business address, which should have been my first red flag. They might be able to fix a computer or two, but they are bad at the details and this is a business where the details count. Don't let their friends glowing recommendations fool you (They padded their starts, take a look), be smart and take your business else where.
