When searching for service options for a MacBook on Apple's web site I was offered Quadstar as an nearby choice. Normally I defer to Apple direct for issues like this, I took the recommendation from Apple's site as a solid endorsement and scheduled my visit. I was pleased to find a same-day appointment available and dropped off around noon. I was pleasantly greeted and hung out while they performed a basic diagnostic. When it confirmed only the battery replacement was necessary I took my receipt and headed home. How pleased was I to have a call the next day at 2:00 telling me my computer was ready for pick up! All in all a great experience though I know I can't count on parts always arriving next day. In any case, I'll definitely check here first should I require any more Apple product service. P. S. Man at the front desk was very dramatic and not welcoming. Almost seemed like he did everything to turn me away. He took a look at my MacBook for two or 4 minutes and basically told me it was a Tier 4 spill damage. Once he looked up the prices he did a dramatic jaw drop and told me it would be $1,199.00 for repairs. I hated every second with dealing with the front desk. It's okay if it not good news, but it was almost like he wanted me out of his face and tried to deter me away because their shop is closing down for a week. Their service is great. I have been there twice now and the first time they looked at an iPad for me and then didn't charge me anything but gave me some great advise. The second time they fixed my computer and did a great job. They quoted me a price up front and then went above and beyond with the repair and still only charged me the originally quoted price. I worked with a guy named Paul who really knows his stuff and was happy to provide advise and opinions to all of his customers while I was there even though sometimes it meant that they would not spend as much money at his shop. If you're a Mac user in the Cleveland area, make sure you have this place bookmarked. They are one of two Apple-approved repair shops in the metro area, and my experiences with them have been top-notch. I recently brought in a MacBook Air that had been ruined by my cat spilling a glass of water on it (take a lesson from me, kids). 3 for 3. I brought in three different things to get fixed. Not one time successful. If you are Apple certified then you should be the place I can go to. They never call me back when they say they will. I had to call them 3x to get any update and get the same response "ohh I've been working on it, no luck" and then when I ask why they didn't call me back "ohh we are just really busy" aka, my stuff was sitting on desk for a week. Thanks for nothing! Three strikes, you're out. ***edit in response to owner: If we want to get specific.. I can do that. I brought my Mac in for a replacement hard drive that failed. It worked for less than a year. I brought it in again because the replacement hard drive failed. You replaced it again and now that computer is a paper weight. It was never fixed, after a couple days that I got t back, it wouldn't even turn on and I left multiple messages and complaints because I paid for this to be fixed and now a $2500 computer is junk. I ended up having to buy another computer because I use it every day for my business. As far as the third time I came in, I was told I would be called about a failed usb plug the next day, and I had to call days later to get an update. You said you would call me back the next day, I gave it a couple days and had to call back. I was finally told over a week later you couldn't fix .. and I had to call myself again. I don't care how long it takes to fix, but if you tell me you are going to call with an update the next day, call with an update the next day. Even if it's a "didn't have a chance to get to it because we are so busy". I can only assume it was thrown on a desk. read more
