I went in with an issue with my I-Pad, it stopped accepting my charger, except for one at home. I bought a new charger and still unable to hook up my charger. The nice man at RizTech Computer repair off the square, on North Court Street, diagnosed and fixed my problem in less than a minute. I built my own gaming system. I have done this three times but with my latest one I had an issue where it was working fine, I unplugged it to move it and plugged it back in and it didn't work. To be specific the video did not connect to the monitor. I tried multiple ports, multiple monitors, multiple plugs and even tried using the integrated video card on the motherboard. I could not get it to work so I took it to RizTech. They told me upfront that they had a $90 diagnostic fee for gaming systems. I didn't like it but I understood it. I also asked them to add an addition memory dimm because I got one DOA and wanted to balance out the configuration. They called me a few days later and told me that the motherboard had a bad PCIe slot where the video card plugged in. They got it to work once but could not get it to continue to work. They said that I needed to replace it. I wasn't happy with this answer because it didn't make sense to me. Why would the system work well for years only to stop working when I moved it in my office. If the board was broken, either they broke it while removing the video card or it wasn't the issue at all. So I paid my $90 and took it home. I ordered additional memory and a new motherboard to fix it myself. I figured before I remove the motherboard why not try the balnced memory first. I added the memory so that it had four dimm sticks and it worked. The unbalanced memory was causing the issue. I will return the new motherboard and use this system for another few years. I am giving them two stars because as a company that does this every day the first thing they should have done is to check the physical layer. Check the cables, make sure the memory and video card were seated correctly, and they should know that Intel recommends a balanced memory configuration and they could have removed one dimm to see if it started up, but they didn't. They never really found out what was wrong with the system at all, but they charged me anyway. I expect a computer shop to be better. read more

Been a loyal customer for about seven years. Took my PS5 in for an HDMI repair. It worked for about 3 days, then it stopped. A day later the power refused to turn on. I think the kids they have their doing the repairs are great, so this is not a particular dig at them, but I contacted several times and wasn't offered any compensation or reached out to at all. Honestly just disappointed in the business practice and I feel like this is why local businesses fail. Loyalty goes both ways. read more

Riztech doesn't sell RAM off the shelf, unlike most computer stores. I wish they did because it would save me a lot of travel to stores that do, like Best Buy and Micro Center. If you want to buy RAM from RizTech, you have to take your computer to them so they can disassemble it and inspect your RAM. Not a fan of this policy. And it doesn't matter if you're a certified computer repair technician with 25 years of experience. Because RAM upgrades are rocket science. I'm all for small business, but dude needs to chill out and just sell some RAM, at a profit. Not all customers are the same. I wanted to be a lifelong customer, but Riztech does not want to be a lifelong business. read more

What a cool little store. Them Adina square continues to amaze me. From all the quaint little shops; gourmet popcorn, ice cream, pet snacks, chocolate, barbers, cafés, pizza, bars and other miscellaneous. A boutique like electronics store fits right in. The shop is really cool. They have everything from computers, iPads, toys, to monitors. It is full-service. They will recycle old machines, trade for cash, and repair and fix. I have brought old computers here to just recycle and also for some of the refurbished iPads and things like that. I believe he even offer some sort of warranty if you purchase a device from there. The other really nice thing for me, is all of the used electronics. I would never give my kids brand new devices, and the selection here is good. Had an issue with laptop not communicating to the printer. Called Riztech, Josh tried to fix over phone. No good so he came to the house. After an hour it was working with no issue plus he worked his magic and my laptop is running at warp speed now plus fixed my scan issue. Well, after 10 years of being careful and conscientious, I did it -- I spilled coffee on my laptop! I did try to clear out the liquid as best I could, then rushed it down to RizTech. I feel SO fortunate that we have this company in our little town of Medina. Riz told me he would do his best to bring my computer back to life, and called me that same day to say he could replace some chips and salvage the machine. He also informed me there would be no charge for the diagnostics if I chose not to have the repair done, which is amazing in itself! I had looked around the shop while I was there for the drop off, and noted that there were refurbished Macs that were several hundred dollars less expensive than buying a new model. I decided to go with a newer laptop (especially after Jen told me owners would not be able to update some of the older models in the not-too-distant future). Riz was able to port all my files and applications over the the new Mac and all I had to do was re-enter a few passwords. It was almost like the "trauma" had never happened since everything went so smoothly. Riz and Jen are two of the nicest folks I have met since moving to Medina a couple of months ago. First time customer, but quite happy with how it went. I will say that the circumstances surrounding my visit weren't the best (due to having my PC shutdown and the whole covid-19 pandemic having me on quite a bit of edge) but both Riz and his employee Andy were quite helpful to me. I made a simple mistake with some RAM but they fixed it by the next day with ease, and took the RAM I couldn't use and gave me a discount on a new set (that works wonderfully by the way) as well as the labor costs. We just happened by the store while visiting the Ice Festival. While we had considered replacing my wife's laptop, we weren't actively looking. As we came upon it, my wife decided to go in. I followed, like a good husband of 42 yrs, and we immediately saw rows of laptops sitting on wall racks. It appeared that many were refurbished, while we were looking for a new one. We inquired and were told they did have new ones, which we looked at on the counter. We chatted about what capability she needed in a new laptop and we were patiently waited on and our questions answered. We purchased a new HP laptop that was competitively priced with what you would find in box stores. It just so happened they had a Roku HD TV in a box on the floor. We asked about that and they said they had purchased one more than they ended-up needing (one was mounted on the wall in the store). They sold it to us at their cost, and it too was a good price compared to box stores. We attempt to shop locally and from small business merchants when the opportunity arises. So we recommend you stop in for a look at competitively priced, local merchant, when needing a new computer. I went to RizTech to repair/replace broken "shift" key on my laptop. I understood that sometimes the entire keyboard may need to be replaced, depending on the make/model/year. I was told that the individual key could indeed be replaced, costing me WAY less than replacing a keyboard or the entire computer! When the key arrived, they realized that they were sent the wrong key by their supplier and told me that they would make another attempt to locate the correct key and would not charge me! When I received the call that the key was in, they took it to the back, replaced the key, and I have not had any problems since! The owner told me that there was no charge to me for this repair. I convinced him to at least split the difference with me, since I believe it is important to support local businesses. He agreed and I paid only half of what it would have been to replace the key. The owner and staff have such a great, trustworthy work ethic. I highly recommend their services! read more
