Now after our 4th visit, I can safely say it is one of my favorite restaurants! I have found the perfect pasta...their Spicy Carbonara. It is absolutely perfection!! The creamy sauce that coats the spaghetti peppered with bacon, Parmesan shavings and peas makes this entree taste great! The bacon flavor really pops! The portions are very generous! This building used to be two different restaurants. And I rather liked one of them, so Mickey's place has big shoes to fill. The restaurant is perfectly designed and looks wonderful inside. The people who designed and decorated the restaurant did a fantastic job. I was kind of underwhelmed by my drink, but it wasn't too big of a deal. The salad I started with was really fresh, and the champagne dressing had a lot of flavor. I had to get lasagna because I am a big fan of the dish, my wife on the other hand got the manicotti with Italian sausage. Lasagna had a lot of flavor, space, and sauce; however, there was a bit of flavor missing from the sauce. My wife thought that the Italian sausage tasted a bit watery for some reason, I agreed; yet the entire dish was pretty good. For a new restaurant, Mickey's Place is a great addition to Canyons downtown food scene. read more

Just went to Mickey's Place for the first time and I enjoyed every minute of it. The food was amazing I had the manicotti and the truffle fries were out of this world. You have to try the truffle fries you'll thank me later and of course I ended it with this hot apple pie with ice cream that came out on a hot plate and drizzle with hot brandy sauce that sizzled and I will be returning every minute I get. I'm always on the lookout for a good Italian restaurant and found a little gem in Canyon. The restaurant is quite lovely and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. I order the manicotti with grilled chicken. The sauce was thick and lush. The serving was ample and I left completely satisfied. The bruschetta was not editable...the onion taste was so incredibly overwhelming I couldn't eat it.. it was crazy and I LOVE ONION...the soup tasted like pepper with some beans (again, couldn't eat it, it was so bad).. it was pretty shocking that I had such a horrible experience. I am a huge food lover, not picky, so this was a first for me to be turned away by the taste. The BEST and only positive part was the service. Our waitress was freaking wonderful. Dude!!! This is an incredible discovery in Canyon. Found this place on Yelp. The recent reviews are spot on. I had the lasagna which was the best lasagna that I have ever had. My wife had the manicotti, which she raved about. We visited with the manager and he said they make the lasagna tomato stock from scratch every day. What??? Nothing out of a can? Nope. Don't let this gem slip you by. Apple pie was NOT apple pie. It is literally a production of succulent apple pie base with vanilla ice cream on a hot plate. As these ingredients caramelize and come together this makes this desert ANYTHING other than an apple pie. And to top it off, this place has the best wine list by the glass in the area. read more

I will never go back!!! I ordered prime rib medium rare as it is listed at the top of their menu. The male server delivered the meal and it was obvious that the prime rib had been over cooked. I questioned the server if that prime rib was in fact medium rare and he said it was. He lied. It was medium well and closer to well done than it was to a medium temperature. It took the restaurant owner/manager over a week to respond to my inquiry and he only contacted me after another report about the unacceptable incident. The restaurant does not have an adequate means on the webiste or elsewhere to receive feedback. Disappointing and unacceptable. I would never recommend this place. read more

I was looking forward to trying the food at this new spot on the Square in Canyon. Even though this order was for take out I had a chance to be greeted by the host at the front, and then sit at the bar for a few minutes while my order was finished. The host greeted my promptly, with a smile, and directed me to the bar to retrieve my order. I was greeted warmly by the bartender and the gentleman, Duke, that took my order. The interior is well organized with some high tops and low tops for dining, with an ample sized bar with maybe 15 or so seats. There also will be outdoor seating in the front along the sidewalk area. The verdict on the food was very good. We ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken and the Prosciutto Arugula Pizza. The pasta was cooked al dented, not over sauced with a very rich cream sauce that has a good depth of flavor. The pizza, thin crust, was very good with the prosciutto and arugula topped with a fantastic balsamic glaze. We will return and hopefully be able to dine in next time. read more

After seeing the good reviews here my husband and I were excited to try it out. Sadly it was not as good as we anticipated. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo for $12 and added the chicken which was $6 more. I have honestly never understood why Italian restaurants charge so much for noodles and sauce & then charge so much to add half a piece of chicken. My husband ordered lasagna and it was basically made of nothing but cheese and he had to pay $6 to add a meat to it which would normally come in lasagna anyways. Upon receiving our food both of our meals were very lukewarm my husband's wasn't even warm enough to even melt the cheese on top, it was also hard to cut which is abnormal for lasagna. He was not happy about it being cold in the middle, but being he was already eating it. He didn't bother to send it back. The sauce on it is also somewhat spicy which is different then a normal lasagna as well. He was not to happy with his meal. My Alfredo sauce had no flavor to it and my chicken was dry and not moist at all. My meal was lukewarm the only reason it was somewhat hot is because of the extra sauce I had asked for. I make homemade fettuccine chicken Alfredo from scratch at home and it's so good my kids no longer go out to eat Italian food anymore because they say mine tastes better than going out to eat. Sadly there is no good Italian restaurants anywhere that I know of around here which is sad. We gave this place a shot and unfortunately it was not to our liken. Everyone is different so like everyone else in the reviews you may like it just fine. As for us we know what good Italian food is supposed to taste like and we will not be back. I was also disappointed that the break "sticks" were just pieces of there pizza dough cut up and that for the price you pay for the meal there was not a complimentary salad to go with it.
