VERY slow service and the food was a bit hit or miss depending on what was ordered (we were a party of 4). I think the biggest issue was our waitress. She just wasn't around which made everything worse. The beers came right out, but the food took forever, and other tables would come in, order, and get their food, eat, and be looking to pay before we got our food. Again, took forever to find her to get the check, and then took forever for her to come back and get it so we could pay and go. I've driven by this place a few times and decided to give it a try. There was a slight five minute wait on a Wednesday night, showing they aren't doing so bad. The lemontini I had was full of granulated sugar, sticky and looked like a mess by the time it go to the table. Eh I can get over that. The bread was cold and stale (once frozen i presume). The calamari had excellent breading, nice and crispy but was pretty flavorless . It was served with tartar sauce which is only a step above marinara but equally as boring. I had the meatloaf that came with veggies and garlic mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was tasty but nothing that I couldn't make at home. The giant wooden bar is interesting, and I would not recognize the place from the old Bickford's setup. The bathrooms are in the same place. Decorations are OK, but it is mostly a pub with some Irish food. They did not serve Irish bread which lost them a star. You get Irish bread in pubs in Ireland! The best Irish bread is still the Chieftain in Plainville. I don't even remember seeing it on the menu. I had the bangers and mash, and it was very good. I shall return. read more

I was in town visiting family and we hit up Mick Morgan's. It's a giant pub with great atmosphere, design, and plenty of room for groups. First things first, I want to give a shout out to our server Sean. He was polite, patient, and helpful. Most of us had clam chowder. In New York we call it New England clam chowder, but in New England you pretend there is no other kind and just call it chowder. When in Rome? All the Same, it was delicious, but it makes me think they would make amazing Manhattan clam chowder. At the suggestion of my cousin, we went with curried fries, which are pretty much regular fries served with a curry sauce. If it wasn't burger night I would have gone with Sheppard's pie, but Wednesday is burger day. They had many options including vegan and gluten free. There is plenty I want to try, but I had traditional beef with bacon, cheddar, and an over easy egg. More fries too. It was all delicious, but with Hind site being 2020, and the pile of fries we had with the curry sauce, I should have gone with a salad or sweet potato fries. I already have my next visit planned. Imagine our surprise when the manager came over, apologized for the time it took for our order to arrive, and told us dinner would be on him. I have been to the Mick Morgan's in Newton, kept driving by this one on Rt. 1 so much that we just decided to stop here for dinner this past Saturday night. It was pretty busy on the patio, the hostess asked if we prefer to sit inside or out, I said it didn't matter, whichever one that has less of a wait. She suggested that sitting inside would be quicker, and she was right. She made us wait 5 minutes, making sure that the table was set, before another girl lead us inside. Upon seating at our booth, we noticed that the table was not cleaned up. Someone had just taken dirty dishes away, there were still beer glasses on the table, and a big puddle of water on the side of the table. No one came back to clean this up, so my husband had to use his napkin to wipe off all the water and other stuff that was on the table. Gross. The waitress was ok, not someone who impressed me, but she did her job. We got an order of the whole-bellied clams for appetizer, it was probably the best thing we've had the entire meal. Hubby ordered the shepard's pie and I got the sirloin dinner. Hubby liked the shepard's pie, I took a bite but thought it was bland. I was very disappointed with my meal - the sirloin steak was cooked to more medium than medium rare.... it came with tasteless mashed potatoes and a side of veggies that consisted of celery (yuck!), red bell peppers and squash. Not a big fan of my meal, but I ate it anyway. I don't think the waitress came back to check on our meals at all, until the end of our meal she came by to see if we wanted dessert or more beer. Overall, I disliked my meal, but I really enjoyed their fried whole-bellied clams. I will give this place another shot, probably getting a different entree next time. The food is actually pretty good here, but unfortunately the restaurant manager Brianna does not have any real desire to show basic respect to families on Mothers Day. I came in with my 2 and 5 year old boys to take my wife to dinner. The bartender came over and respectfully told us to sit wherever we wanted (as usual). We usually sit at the long booth with the TV so we started heading over there. We were intercepted by Brianna who informed us it was closed (because there was a waitress folding napkins or something there). I asked to sit at a different large table since we like the space and she decided to tell me that we can sit at a 4 person table because we have 4 people in our party and it was "common sense" that 4 people wouldn't need a 10 person table. OK, yes it does make sense, but the whole place was completely empty since it was 9pm and we could use more space with our kids. The four person tables are tight and doesn't have space required for families. I was offended less about what she was saying and more about how she was saying it. She was speaking to me with aggression and attitude and it's literally just me asking to sit down and eat as usual. A fairly young kid comes out of the kitchen to yell at us from a distance to tell us, "It's no big deal" which I have no idea what he thought was going on but all we did was ask for a booth instead of a square table.. Visited this place for a few drinks after work with some of the boys. The decor takes Irish bar to a whole new terrible level. The only thing missing was a leprechaun waving the Blarney stone with a Jameson's whiskey tattoo on his wee forehead. Awful. Then the tables have high backed bar stools that sit up against a raised platform on which the table sits. So you have to basically fold your knees to your chest to sit somewhat comfortably. The waitress recommended a beer and when I asked if it was heavy on the hop flavor, she didn't know. Huh. Guess you should actually try the beer before you recommend it. Went to Mick Morgan's for the first time after wanting to go for quite a while and I honestly regret it now and wish I had never stepped foot in there. My fiance, myself and a couple friends of ours decided to try the place out to watch the first Bruins game of the second round of the Stanley Cup against the TBL. We were seated in the booth area directly to the right of the entrance and all of the tables around us were empty. The four of us were completely enthralled in the game, watching ever to intently, when all of a sudden the television switched to the second inning of the Red Sox game. We missed a very dramatic goal against that was hotly contested by the Bruins, and though many other televisions in the restaurant were playing the Bruins, none were as easy to see as this one. What really irked us was that no one bothered to warn us of the impending channel change. We asked repeatedly that the channel be changed back, and a manager came over to let us know that there were several other televisions that were playing the bruins game and only two on the Sox. We let him know that we were watching this particular television and had been the entire time we were there, but he repeatedly dismissed our complaints by simply stating that there were a million other televisions on the bruins and that there were replays, in addition to a few rude "I'm sorry's" and cutting off any conversation we were trying to have. Someone who we believe is the owner or a higher-up came over to the table and informed us that they had comped our appetizers, though was just as rude as the first manager that came over. We were attempting to start a dialogue about the way in which the television channels were changed without warning and that we missed a vital part of a very important game, but no one seemed to care (surprising for a bar that touts itself as a great place to watch sports with a million TVs). I've been going to Mick Morgans in Newton for years, but recently moved to Walpole and am so disappointed in this location. In 3 months, I've probably eaten there 10 times and continue to be increasingly dismayed (I know, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment!). Some of the staff is responsive, while others act as if they are doing you a favor by seating and waiting on you. There have been a few occasions where we sat for 10+ minutes before we were greeted by our waitress. The food is fairly consistent, although yesterday I had eggs benny and it was bad, like "runny eggs all over my plate bad" .....and a bloody mary that tasted like simple tomato juice and cheap vodka (even though it was Grey Goose). If you pay attention, it seems as though the entire environment is struggling to keep up (even when all of the tables are not full). I hope ownership and management can turn it around. We came here with a huge group for breakfast (30 people or so) and it was slow which is absolutely expected with that large of a group. Several orders were messed up- also expected and not unreasonable. We're easy going and can wait. What's unacceptable is how rude the staff is. We were missing 3 meals for over 45 minutes - which were scrambled eggs that take 5 minutes! The manager told the main person that breakfast is difficult and can't expect it to be correct... He was yelling at my friend's mother when she was just asking why they couldn't get those meals. It took 30 minutes to get water and coffee so shouldn't be surprised. What's worse- is that this was our third trip in a wedding weekend. The rehearsal dinner for 25 was also slow and disorganized even though it was limited menu and booked ahead. They do not follow state guidelines with regard to Covid. I spoke to the manger and I agree with other reviewers - he's rude to the nth degree. Few people wear masks while walking around the restaurant (the employees wear them, but many customer do not). People congregating around tables which create tables with 10 or more people all drinking, yelling, etc. I have been to many restaurants since outdoor dining resumed and this is the only one that I had to report to the state for so many violations. Why would they seat someone there again when it's so empty???? We got a small garden salad (small is 7 large is 11) and a bowl of chili. We told her we would split the entree (chicken fajitas - what were we thinking???). After 20 mins, we flag her down and ask about the food. She said she'd check and bring out what was ready. 5 minutes later the salad, the chili and the main dish come all at once. Salad was ok but how can you mess that up? Chili tasted like it was made with Ketchup, it was just plain ODD tasting. The chicken fajitas - well...it just looked like a pile of mush with melted cheddar cheese on top. It was really just plain disgusting! It tasted like it was made and frozen and then thawed and re-heated. There was also something odd too. I finally figured it out, it had MUSHROOMS in it! Just weird! The waitress never came to check while we were eating as to how our food was. She came back 20-25 minutes later and asked how things were. We just wanted to get out at that point. I was curious and looked at a menu on the way out and they DO list mushrooms as an ingredient in the fajitas, so I guess I can't complain about that. The prices are insane and the service is "meh", I would not come back and I would encourage people to stay away.
