So the Lady Vader and I went to knock another item off the Foodie 100 list, choosing the Sierra Chicken Sandwich from Michou Castellino's. Which, according to Google Maps, TomTom, Yoda, and a search engine, indicated was right next to Pike Place. When I asked that little green punk where exactly, all he did was chortle and say "If it is chicken you seek, a place with feathers, you must find". Can someone please get this guy a copy of Rosetta Stone so he can work on his grammar structure already?
So we get to Pike Place....no Castellino's as we walk up the cobblestone one way and down the other. We walk again. No Castellino's. We walk THROUGH Pike Place. No Castellino's. I sacrifice 4 virgins and hire an Indian Spirit Guide. No Castellino's. I call upon The Force to guide me. No Castellino's. I Force Choke one of those "Seattle Ambassadors" until he gives me information, because I wasn't aware their whole job was to give information (incidentally, how much do we pay for those guys?! I thought we were broke?). With his dying gasp, he informs me that it's not Michou Castellino's anymore - now it's just Michou.
From there we find it quite easily. In retrospect, it shouldn't have been that difficult. After all, this entire Foodie list is going to places that have long lines. We should have just been looking for places with sandwiches that had a line of people stretching out the door.
After a considerable wait, we grab 2 of those sandwiches, a grape leaf wrap, and some other snack I can't recall. It was a number of weeks ago we went, but my review has been delayed because my deadbeat cousin Garth Vader hacked my Yelp password and was trying to use my name recognition to score chicks. Bastard.
The Sierra chicken sandwiches are quite good. They're fresh, they're large, they're obviously made with quality ingredients. There's just a little bit of heat to them, but it quickly blends into a nice velvety flavour with the rest of the dish. They have a nice balance to them and don't feel heavy. This last point is important because this outfit is already quite the burden to carry around, let alone while feeling like I've gained 9 pounds by eating something.
Service was friendly - almost so friendly that I forgot that I waited in line for 20 minutes for a sandwich. Almost. I had to Choke one of the workers to serve as an example for the rest. Seating was non-existent, but this ultimately wasn't too much of a big deal.
It loses a point because of the long lines, the limited seating, and the fact that those grape wraps weren't all that good. But all in all, a good sandwich if you're in the area and trying to watch your calorie intake.
