Seriously best paninis EVER! My 1 1/2 year old son and I were staying downtown earlier in the week and had walked to pikes every day for 4 days. I'm so glad we came to michou on the first day because it was so dang good, we came here the next 3 days too. I'm the type of person who likes to check out menus before I go places so I pretty much narrowed down which sandwiches I wanted to order. The first day, I got 2 half sandwiches - one poblano beef and one Tuscan chicken. I am a big panini lover and if I knew my little boy was gonna maul those sandwiches, I would've gotten full sized ones, lol! That was the most of a sandwich id ever seen him eat. The 2nd day we tried the ham and cheddar breakfast sandwich. Delicious. The 3rd day we tried the smoked salmon and got the poblano beef again. Yes, I got the full sandwiches this time! Good thinking! The 4th day (our last day, sniff sniff), we got the Tuscan chicken (again, yum) and the Sierra chicken. Ooh and we also got an espresso cookie!! I gotta say, everything we ate here was wonderful and customer service was awesome too! Jason was very nice and always had a smile for me and my son when we came in. The sandwiches were perfect - the perfect amount of bread, toasting, meat, cheese, and veggies. There is pretty much always a line tho but it's sooooooo worth it - even if you have a grouchy toddler (who will be very happy once you give him one of these paninis!). And the line goes by pretty quick, so even more worth it! Just writing this is making me want another one so bad. I think I might have to swing one more trip back here before we leave Seattle.... read more

This place is really awesome. It's one of those pre-made sandwich shops that grills the sandwich for you when you place the order. As recommended by Yelpers, I ordered the Chicken Sierra sandwich and yeah it was delicious. It's got that sweet savory slightly spicy thing going on with the sauce, lots of dark green veggies, and shredded chicken. The bread is really really good too. I should have ordered a half size so I could try another sandwich but this gives me an excuse to go back. read more

Michou is the best deal around for lunch downtown. Yes, there will be a line and yes you will be given the daunting task of choosing one (or two) of the endless salad, sandwich, soup and dessert options, but I promise you'll get through it. And I promise it'll be worth it. The crispy chicken sandwich is delicious and my default when I get too overwhelmed by my options, and I usually pick the first salad I see for the 1/2 salad 1/2 sandwich combo, which only turns out to be $7 and some change. Seriously, how can you beat that? read more

While I haven't yet had a sandwich from here, the spread looks impressive. They also will panini press your selection. There are numerous dishes available sold by the pound. In particular I've enjoyed the pasta with parsley sauce and the dolmas. Their donuts are also worth a try. In the few times that I've been the wait was short and very reasonable considering the location. read more

The team and I were in town on business and came here based on the reviews (my suggestion of course). It's a short 10 minute walk from Motif hotel. When we arrived the line was out the door, a great sign in my opinion. We ordered several grilled sandwiches including the Sierra (my personal favorite), buffalo chicken, crispy chicken, italian, tofu and one other that I can't remember. They can be served as is off-the-shelf or grilled. We chose to have all of ours grilled. We also ordered the pesto tortellini and chipotle penne pasta with chicken as sides. All the sandwiches were pretty good but the Sierra was superior by far. It literally melted in my mouth and tasted like butter. As I sit here and finish this review I started a few days ago, I think I'm going to go over and get another one of those delightful sandwiches right now! We spent about $64 for six or seven sandwiches and two sides which was really reasonable. The sitting space is very small and super busy. This is in the historic Pike Place in Seattle and just a super trendy place to walk through during the day especially when the weather is as nice as it is right now. Plus you can look out over the bay which is absolutely beautiful. I will most certainly be back to this place many times over. read more

Another tasty lunch spot in the Market that should not be missed. Their sierra chicken sandwich is mmm mmm good and how can I forget about their two tomato, basil and mozzarella sandwich oh so good. Besides sandwiches they also have a deli case full of fresh salads that taste as wonderful as they look. I usually go for a half sandwich and salad, it's a filling, fresh meal for cheap. If you're not into to salads and sandwiches they also have pizza and fries and I think some pasta dishes as well. If you are going to check them out go early or late because at noon the line can be out the door. read more

Abundant choices for sandwiches, salads, and treats! My girlfriend had the bacon turkey sandwich with quinoa salad. I had the best selling sierra chicken and butternut squash apple salad. The two sandwiches were good.. Around 3.5 stars I would say. Nothing extraordinary but better than your usual. As always bacon makes everything taste good! The flavor in the sierra chicken was not overpowering and just right. The quinoa salad was a little disappointing. I've had better I would say. But the squash and apple salad was amazing! I did not expect apple and squash will be a match made in heaven for my taste buds. The squash was cooked right- not too hard or too mushy. The apple flavor brought the dish to a new whole level! Price was reasonable.. Line was long but moved fast.. Hard to decide because of the countless choices! Their bread pudding by the door looked amazing as well! Okay. So let me preface by saying that "I'm not a sandwich person." Phewwww! OK... Cool... We got that out of the way. But I do like this (mostly) sandwich joint. And that counts for something, right? As some people have already mentioned, this is a wonderful hidden gem in Pike Place Market. Which, let's be completely honest, it most certainly is. Living in Chicago, I am lucky if I can find a decent, but not understuffed, and lettuce-wilting sandwich for under $8-10. That does NOT exist in my city. And if it does... Show me where! Pretty please. For a fact, Michou is a great value for its location and price points, which everyone and their mother has espoused. Where else do you find moderately sized sandwiches in a popular tourist location for not too much paper? But why you should check it out? Because I said so... No. Not really. Because for a little under $4 plus tax, you can get a nice sized, half panini sandwich that will fill your Seattle tourist tush for at least a couple of hours. A sandwich that has a good amount of ingredients and a good quality bread. Or for around $7-ish, you can get a full sammy and get fed well. I had the Italian half sandwich myself, and it did not disappoint. A simple, yet well-balanced sandwich that had ham, pepperoni, provolone, pepperoncini, tomatoes, greens, and Italian dressing. Basically like a better, less sloppy version of *COUGHS* *SQUEEZE* *AHEM!* Jimmy John's Italian. Also, their dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) are a mere 50¢ a piece. Not too shabby for a small, rice-stuffed, olive oil and lemon-infused treat. I am a sucker for those things. So it felt like a sweet, savory, tender perfect kiss to an end of a meal. read more

Caesar sandwich w bacon toasted was excellent! Small ricotta donut thing is great as was the Asian broccoli. Cheap and the sizes on most food is by weight. Very affordable right in a hot shopping area. Lots of options and mostly quite healthy read more

A little something for everyone! Vegan, vegetarian, more meat the better! Whatever your flavor, there was a sandwich for you and no fuss. We were starving and there was long lines for everything and really, we didn't want a sit down place but more of a quick bite since was time was of the essence. We stopped in grabbed a veggie sandwich and were on our way to site see and continue our day adventure through the Market Place. Real estate is limited here so large groups are likely not going to get a seat or sit together. Send a brave soul in and have them order for your group and everyone wins. Clean and tidy little nook, fast service, easy menu. Perhaps you'll get lucky with seating. read more

The sandwich was fine (grilled chicken), not great, but fine, as in no complaints, but no compliments either. I mean hey, it's just a chicken sandwich. The low rating is for how poorly they are dealing with city, county, and state coronavirus mandates. The Pike Place Market as a whole has been doing an excellent job making every area as safe as possible. The shop and restaurant owners, the vendors, and their employees all deserve kudos with how well they have pivoted. This deli seems not to care AT ALL and it's a shame. A black mark for the Market as a whole. 1. no attempt at limiting the number of people inside, nor the customers crowding other customers in linne in front of them. 2. one of the 4 employees serving customers and handling food was wearing his mask so his nose was free. GROSS! 3. utensils used by staff not cleaned in between uses so everyone is sharing germs on tongs, spoons, and such. 4. employee sitting and eating her lunch behind the counter!!! 5. And lastly, every single customer is handed the same pen to sign their CC tab. Had I not been in a group of three I would have picked up lunch elsewhere, Boggles my mind that when I mentioned these things to the employee ringing me up, the response was a shrug. I'm in the Market weekly. I will not be back to Michou as I can't help but wonder what other health and safety measures they are ignoring. So many fine places to pick up a bite to eat in the Market. Show your support for the businesses who give a damn about their customers as well as their employees. This one clearly does not. read more

Sandwiches are delicious and at a great price. Service was fast and friendly. Atmosphere of Pike Place is always hustle and bustle but I did make a young lady named Skye's day by splitting a sandwich with her that they only sold whole. Great place for a lunch break or quick snack doing tourist things. read more

Michou was highly recommended to me by a bystander after I went to Il Corvo and they were completely out of pasta. I ordered two half sandwich/salad combos and picked out the Italian sandwich, chicken bacon sandwich, Mediterranean salad, and German potato salad. The three cheese bake looked appetizing too so I added one of those to my order. The sandwiches and salads are very reasonably priced for the portions that you receive and are delicious. The bread was toasted perfectly, there were ample meats, and the sandwich overall had a nice balance. I'd say the salads, though nothing to write home about compared to their sandwiches, were still above what you'd expect from the average delicatessen. I didn't get to try their soups, but I'll try some on my next visit. Lastly, if you decide to get anything like the three cheese bake, then I'd recommend heating them up before enjoying. So disappointed. Worst bordeaux cannele ever! Had to throw it away. Usually my fav pastry. Do not get it! Tough texture and gross! Boiled Eggs tasted spoiled. Fried rice was mediocre. Corn salad was bad. Really was hoping to like this place as the window with all the sandwich variety looked quite good. Can't speak for those. read more

I came to Michou for lunch the very first day I stepped foot in Seattle. I knew I wanted something around the Market and I knew I wanted something reasonably fast, delicious, and inexpensive. It was all three things. What Michou has going for it is its location first, but its selection and quality of ingredients second. They have an entire deli case where you can physically see what they offer and it is quite extensive. Their options include a ton of sandwiches that they can serve cold or pressed, a few daily soups, a few different pizzas and pastas, and a whole bunch of various deli salads. I really like their chicken and goat cheese sandwich, pressed to ooey gooey with a side of any of their salads. I've tried their mixed roasted veggies, their brussel sprouts, their beets with feta, and their curried cauliflower and all were good. It only sets you back like $6 for this combo which is so worth it. Eat at one of their few tables or take to go. Their staff are super friendly too! read more

Glad I came in around 11 on Friday, it was way too crowded at 12:30 when I walked by again. They have a great deli counter with an excellent selection of cold sandwiches, baked goods, and salads. They grill press the sandwiches panini style and you can use the microwave that's by the entrance for other cold items. Once grill pressed, the sandwich is delightfully crispy and hot! Got the Sierra and Spinach & Brie bake (different form of classic mac n cheese). Spinach & Brie was a great combo, but wish there was more spinach to balance the richness of the brie. Sierra was dry with the first few bites, but once I got towards the center, OH MY; juicy and tasteful in all the right ways. Above all, I was full with just a half sandwich $3.12 and the bake $3.45(?)! I am refraining from going back so I can try other places out, but who knows, I might go back during my 6-day stay. Service is pretty good. They're quick and informative. 10/10 would do again. Would recommend. read more

This spot is the best sandwich nearby Pike Place. They have the best selection and the best prices. $6.20 for a sandwich or $6.40 to get a couple halves of sandwiches (I like to change things up). They have a bunch of other great salads here too. Their deli is rolling with good food options and their sandwiches are incredible. I'm a big fan of the turkey bacon. read more

I had come running down to Pike Place Market on a rainy morning for Piroshky Piroshky, but decided to yelp Le Panier since it was busy, and said heck why not, Yelp Michou too since it is right here. I'm so glad I did! It's a hidden gem between the 2 busier shops. Michou was completely empty when I walked in and there was no one at the cashier counter. I had to walk to the back to ask for assistance. Once I was helped and my sandwiches were being warmed up, a couple walked in, looked, and walked out. I think Michou would get more customers if they had someone at the front counter to greet customers and help them out. I chose half a sierra chicken and half a tuna bacon. I had a bite of both, and both were delicious. I wish I discovered it earlier. The prices are great, the portions are big, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend this place as many places in Seattle have subpar food and outragious prices. read more

I kinda hate writing a good review about this place because I eat there twice a week for lunch and *prefer* that tourists gawk a mere two doors up at the "original" Starbucks and its buskers. But when it comes right down to it, there is a lot to like about Michou and working in this neighborhood. Full-on sandwiches are $5.93 ($6.50 with tax) for a whole, with a half-size available. As you walk in, you'll see a potpourri of bread puddings, cookies, and doughnut-like pastries. The bread puddings are all good, but unless you plan to eat it later, skip it because the sandwiches and salads are really that good. I'm very fond of the portabella and fontina, to the point it's my de facto sandwich when the lady with the purple hair takes my order and I haven't had time to browse among the other delicious options. (I think there are 6-8 sandwiches that would be just as good.) I have been trying to branch out and go half-sandwich, small tub of salad, because they have so many interesting options near the front - after I've already placed my order. It's strictly grab-and-go. I think there are some chairs in the hallway between Michou and Pirohshky, but I'm content to be taking my wonder-sandwich back to the office. read more

This place has THE BEST sandwiches. My mouth literally waters (I'm serious) every time I think of the Tofu sandwich - it's so good. I've had the tuna sandwich too and it was delicious. This place is great because the sandwiches are already made in a case and it's quick and easy. You can get a whole sandwich but ask for two different halves which is awesome if you're indecisive like me. So I usually get a half sandwich of tofu teriyaki and the other is usually the tuna (SO GOOD!!) They also have various deli foods like pastas and salads but usually have other items like giant baked potatoes, lasagnas, and various desserts. The prices are also hard to beat. It's great if you're treating a group. The only reason I deduct this amazing place a star is the customer service. I've only had one good experience with the staff out of the almost 10 times I've been. I also think that staff member was one of the owners.. so it sucks their employees are the worst. Like they are really bad.. but the sandwiches are so good I just deal. Also great you can be in and out so quickly, so the interaction with the staff is limited.. read more

Michou has a wide selection of house made sides, soups, and sandwiches. Since I work in the market, I regularly come here for lunch. I've tried lots of the food joints in the market and Michou has been a family favorite for years. You walk in and see a case full of foods (sold per pound). The soup is self serve and changing everyday! I always feel comfortable trying new soups because they always taste delicious! (And I am very picky so that's saying a lot!) Since it is self serve, I find myself mixing two kinds of soups if I can't decide- and still delicious! But my regular favorites and biggest recommendations would be the Sierra chicken or the Tuscan chicken for sandwiches (very similar.) The thai is okay but the chicken sandwiches are so good, I've never tried anything else. The gnocchi is super delicious but very garlicky! I love the Asian broccoli as well but it's a bit pricey for just broccoli. Other than those two, I would highly recommend that you pick up a soup on the side! The only down side would be very very limited seating but that is not uncommon for the market. If you can't find a seat, many people walk around and eat, sit at the curb, or there is outdoor seating behind the hallway a few doors down from Starbucks! (Ask for emmet watsons or the Icecream store, then go to the doors leading outside) Like I said, I've been coming her for years and I'm still coming back every week. The staff has changed a few times so I can't say much on customer service. For a tourist area, the food is so good and so reasonably priced! You can leave with a filling lunch for less than $10! read more

I came here after work and ordered an Italian sandwich plus a small carryout of gnocchi. The Italian sandwich was pretty flat (literally, not figuratively), and not particularly exciting, but the pricing was good (half a sandwich for $3.50). The gnocchi on the other hand was pretty exciting with the spiciness, but I thought it was a bit expensive, and I wish it was served hot. I think It was around $7 but I'm not completely sure. Overall, I think it's a good deli, and their pricing is very reasonable for being located in the tourist filled debacle that is Pike's Place market. read more

*Lunch Review* This tiny deli offers great sandwiches, panini and soups and seems to be off the beaten path even in the see of people at Pike Place Market. There are plenty of options, but few places to sit. Michou is not going to bowl you over with character and personality and the staff is better at cooking than customer service, but it is still one of the better places to eat at the Market. I'm a fan and will be back. read more

This place looked promising, but was a complete bust for me. Ordered the roast beef sandwich and the flavors were all there, but for the beef. There was something off about the roast beef. It was tough and rubbery and lacking taste. I ordered an arancini as well and left the store to find a spot to eat. When I got to the arancini, it was a pineapple bread pudding they gave to me by accident. Nope. Went back to get the arancini. It was cold by that time and fell apart while I was eating it. It tasted okay, but was not seasoned well and was not really what I was expecting. Maybe I chose poorly, but was underwhelmed by the result. read more

There is more to it then watching the staff at Pike Place Market catch big fresh fish and tourist snapping away on their cameras. MICHOU FRESCA!!! Their paninis and salads are off the hook! I ordered 1/2 Sierra Chicken and salad i can't pronounce but it was green and had pesto in it. I quenched my thirst with a hibiscus lemonade. It was so delicious! All for less then $10 bucks. Best treat at the Pike Place Market along side with the mini donuts! dont be intimidated by the line. it goes by quick. read more

I guess I ordered the wrong thing? It definitely didn't deserve the long line out the door. Mediocre panini, had better at Panera. And soup was flavorless and cold. There was barely any left at lunch rush. I would have thought they would keep an eye on that and fill it up. Anyway.. I'm sure I'll go back. Their desserts in their first glass case looked amazing! Oreo corn flake bar? Have to try it. Also, didn't have an issue with service. It wasn't really in your face friendly but I've come to expect that from certain places downtown. Doesn't bother me. I tell you what I want, you make it, I pay, you give me the product.. no need for fake, friendly chit chat. They're too busy anyway. Oh, I had half Turkey Bacon and a small chicken noodle soup. All I tasted was the arugula or whatever greens they have on it. Proportions are off. read more

This place is pretty darn delicious! The sandwiches are a must must must try! and it's a pretty good price too. For half a sandwich and a salad, it's about $5.75 if I'm not mistaken. You might be thinking...but I want a whole sandwich!! well for me...half a sandwich was plentyy! Sometimes it's only your eyes that are hungry! They're veryyy filling. I got the Tuscan sandwich and it was amazing. As for the salad pick, I chose Rosemary Potato, which I thought actually looked better than it tasted haha... Not bad though! I'm just not a big potato salad kind of person. Overall, good place! the cons? well, for being a saturday afternoon, I was surprised that there was only 1 man working! there was a huge line too! HOWEVER, there was great customer service! I was surprised he wasn't stressed or flipping out. read more

This is really a great find for sandwich lovers with hell lot of options and most importantly are their prices. All the sandwiches are rounding of 4$ (half) 8$(full). One best option is the chicken sierra and basil mozzarella. Also one good this about this place is you have many options of salads and you can take half a pound with no hesitation . Baklava and the mac n cheese are one of our favorites too. They don't have a seating area though with a very few chairs just in case if you are assuming it to be good for groups. Lunch times are always having big lines but they move really quick. Definitely gonna try back . read more

I ordered half of a Tuscan Chicken Pannini, the Kale Caesar, and the Beet Salad (on the advice of staff). My total was about $12. This review is just for the Bordeaux Canelle. My significant other was getting a sandwhich from Michou, and we have never eaten here before. They have such a variety of selection which I can see could be the perfect place to nab some lunch. To my surprise I saw that they had caneles in the display case, which I was super excited about. I definitely had to get one. Now I'm not sure if it was just not properly made or sitting out for a while but the outside was not crispy at all. I would even describe it as soggy. The interior was not that custardy texture either, it was actually quite tough. Definitely one of the worse I've eaten. I'm sure their savory food items would be much better. read more

Cheap, but don't be fooled, this place has DELICIOUS sandwiches. I would visit this place if you have the chance. I loved the food so much. The portions are big and for a relatively low price. Would 100% recommend this place and try their food out. Staff were very nice also. The only downside is that there aren't any napkins but that isn't a problem since there are napkins next door. Love going here to pick up lunch. There are tons of different sandwiches to try daily, and I always get a scoop of spiced up broccoli they have. The only down side, is the extremely long line, always. It goes somewhat fast enough. But otherwise this place is yummy, decently priced, and always reliable. The only time I wasn't happy is when the person helping me was covered in their pets hair. But I've not seen that happen since. read more

If I worked near Pike Place, I can see this being a regular lunch spot. It's got everything that you'd want for lunch with its variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, etc. While I was here with family, my husband and I wanted to get a snack, so we decided to share some kind of roast beef wellington sandwich that used a popover as a bun. We got this sandwich to-go and found a nice spot behind all the stores to sit (it's this little concrete courtyard overtaken by birds), and this was when terror struck. My husband bit into the sandwich and got a mouthful of horseradish that he started coughing/choking. I think this was the first time ever in my life that I thought my husband would die. He got through it, but jesus, why would they put a scoop of horseradish in a sandwich when it's your first bite? This just seemed poorly executed. Why aren't they doing a thinner layer or at least distributing horseradish in a sandwich? I hate to complain, but this was not a good experience. If we had still decided to sit in the restaurant (which didn't have much seating from what I remember), I probably would've let them know or said something. I don't know if the person making the sandwich just didn't know what they were doing except that they need to put some horseradish in a sandwich, but it's the type of condiment where a little goes a long way. read more

Here's the scoop: Michou's has some of the best sandwiches in the city! I love the panini sandwiches that are warmed via the grill and tend to stray toward the organic markets such as Whole Foods and Metropolitan Market for my panini fix. Per the advice of a friend we strolled into the store and all of the sandwiches are already made waiting for you through the looking glass. Here's what I tried: Crispy chicken with caramelized tomatoes: This sandwich was EXPLOSIVELY delicious. I have never had caramelized tomatoes and it gives the sandwich the perfect balance of sweetness to make it one of the greatest sandwiches my taste buds have ever laid their hands on. Mozzarella sticks: Well, I figured I'd go all out and I wasn't disappointed! These were so delicious I went back for seconds. The marinara is made with a sweet juicy tomato sauce and I couldn't get enough. All in all the establishment was great but like many other Pike Place treasures there is very limited seating (just a small bar to eat) so you'll probably find yourself making your way to the nearby park to chow down your grub. This place is through the roof good. The sandwiches are superb, due to their house baked bread, and very creative with their meats and fillings. The prepared pasta's that you can take home and re-heat are all good, my favorite being the blue cheese pasta bake, and there are many rotating flavors. Their morning pastries are exceptional, you have to try the zeppoli's, and the array of salads to choose from is just tremendous. I am not a vegan, but it is nice to have salads that have no meat or cheese, and still have flavor and texture. My favorite is the cous cous salad with mushrooms and arugula. Threw the kielbasa into a stew, and it brought out so many rich flavors and cooked very nicely. The potato salad was probably one of the best I've had - it had an addictively perfect balance of creamy and tangy, and just the right amount of seasoning.
