The atmosphere here is great. Not too stuffy and very inviting. Our bartender, Bree took AMAZING care of us. She was friendly and patient and did a great job of multitasking Togo orders for bar patrons as well as making drinks for the servers while making sure we had everything we needed for our dining experience. The food was OUTSTANDING! I had a sushi combo and it tasted so fresh. The crab wontons were awesome because they weren't sweet like so many other places make them. My boyfriend had the general tso's chicken at Bree's recommendation and luckily it was a hearty portion because I helped him finish it. I will be back when in this part of town. YUM!!! read more

We love this place, the food is amazing. Our server Cindy was wonderful,she knew what we were looking for in food. I'm really impressed with the food here! It's definitely the best spicy tuna I've ever had, and I've eaten at alot of sushi places. I ordered the spicy girl and it was pretty amazing. Every piece got better and better as I ate my way through it. I also ordered a house salad; their house dressing is delicious! More orange than I'm used to, but delioucious all the same. We also ordered the blue fin for the table.. Very fresh fish.. My only complaint was that the sauce on the blue fin was a little overpowering.. I have been to this restaurant many times before and I always order the spicy tuna roll. I wish I had taken a picture of my roll I was just handed because I have never seen a roll that messy and falling apart. So, I sent it back and received basically the exact same roll just rearranged. It didn't look or taste the same as it usually does and on top of that, the service was very slow. We came here on a Sunday for lunch. When we first walked I the place looks very well kept. It's in the corner of a strip mall, but the inside is very warming. At the lunch time we went to, there were very few tables taken, maybe two other couples dining. We asked for a booth as we like to sit next to each other, but we were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait??? Huh? There were like two tables taken! We saw several staff members standing in the rear of the restaurant so I had no idea hey we were told there would be a wait. The funny thing is, we were sat less than a minute later. Bad communication between staff members I guess. We were greeting quickly and ordered the Philly Roll, California Roll, and Fire Island Roll. The Cali Roll and Philly Rolls came first. These were just ok. I would say about the quality you would find on one of the sushi buffets around town. I feel they were over priced for what they were. We expected the Fire Island roll any minute now....any minute now....aaaannnyyyyy minute now. A half an hour went by and still no Fire Island roll. We finally asked the waiter and he went up to the sushi counter and asked them and they found nothing. He came back and told us that it was coming right out and that it was cooling. But then we saw him run over to the station and enter something into the computer. He had forgotten to put it in the order and instead of telling the truth...he lied to us. We asked for the bill because we were running behind and as we were getting ready to pay, he ran the roll out to us. It was not very good at all and wwaaayyyyyy over priced. And they still charged us for it! Needless to say that piece of you know what got a very poor tip for the poor service. Couple that with the mediocre quality of the food, and I will not be coming back. There are far too many nice sushi places (see my other reviews) in this area to waste money on this filth. read more

The wife and I love Micharu! By far the best sushi in the Clear Lake area. Sure the prices may be high compared to others. The way i see it sushi is like toilet paper and trash bags, its not something you want to cheap out on. Great selection and always fresh. Everything from crab salad to the Triton roll, my favorite, are always on point. Ask about off the menu items! Great staff including Bree, our favorite local bartender. Hands down the most delicious, melt in your mouth, flavorful AWESOMENESS in the area...maybe even Houston. The fish is FRESH, and in the sushi world that makes all the difference. The peppered tuna & yellowtail are my favorites, as is the kanpachi (which is not on the menu but frequently available). The outstanding flavor combinations of their specialty rolls make you want to kiss the chef! Try the Crunchy Tuna, Cuban 8, Red Dragon, & Texas rolls. The sushi chefs make each roll/entree a little work of mouth watering art. Did I mention how fresh the fish is? The waitstaff is polite and extremely knowledgeable, so pick their brains! As for others' complaints about the prices...you get what you pay for. Michiru is worth every penny! I have yet to have a bad meal here. The owners strive for excellence and it really shows. I tried this place for the first time on a Monday evening. I wanted to be impressed with the sushi because I read the reviews and saw pictures. However, I wasn't. I enjoyed the environment and our server was excellent. Our water glasses did not get below 2/3 without being refilled. Mineral water mit gas is also standard for water (nice change). The michiru martini is excellent, if you're a martini fan, try it! I ordered an appetizer of some kind-- it was sea snail I believe. It was excellent but be warned it is a few slices of sea snail inside of one half shell. I highly recommend it though. I ordered the JJ roll which included some kind of white fish (forgot the name), jicama (which was marinated in a wonderful citrus flavor), and fish roe. The roll itself was not very impressive to me. It was on the smaller size and I felt it was skimpy compared to all the photos people post. I am not sure if it was because it was a Monday, a holiday, or the sushi chef just had an off night. As far as price, it wasn't bad for all we got (two drinks, one appetizer, one soup, one salad, and two custom rolls) The server, martini, and appetizer however all convince me to give this place one more shot. read more

This is my second time visiting and will more than likely be my last at this location. Before I get into this most recent issue, let me just say that my first time visiting my only complaint was our service and the particular dish I ordered. At our most recent visit, my boyfriend and I ordered the Michiru roll and the shrimp tempura volcano as an appetizer. The server made no mention of that particular roll taking longer than usual to make, so we gave our food order when we received the shrimp. (we were clear to specify we wanted the roll as an appetizer). After waiting for awhile (and our server disappearing), our dinner order eventually came out, but no sushi roll. When we mentioned to the server that we wanted our roll (which still had not made it to our table) as an appetizer, only then did she mention that that roll takes longer. Then she ran over to the sushi bar and came back with a roll and asked if we still wanted it. We declined. The manager casually brushed by the table and mentioned that that roll takes longer, apologized, and walked off. I'm sorry Michiru. You have so much potential. They say third time is a charm, but I will take my chances elsewhere. read more

Without a doubt the best sushi in the area. This is our go-to for date night. Some must try items: the tuna dumpling is scrumptious. It is two paper thin pieces of tuna filled with more tuna and avocado. They look like tiny tasty presents! The tuna poke comes in a martini glass filled with seaweed, cucumbers, tomato, onion, tuna and a light drizzle of delicious. My new favorite is the art of maki ( ask to add apple and jalapeño for crunch and it will knock your socks off! ), the amazing tuna roll is also a favorite. Fantastic, fresh sushi! Our favorite non-sushi item is the Szechuan beef. It's slightly fried, thin crispy strips of beef tossed in delicious sauce. They are a little pricey so if you are wanting to try them, try catching their lunch specials which run until 3, Monday thru Saturday. We love this place. Seriously we are building it in our budget to eat here weekly! We've ordered the "fusion" food and the sushi. My favorite is the yellowfin tuna salad. I went here for the first time based on the great reviews. I was extremely disappointed. The service was horrible. People who arrived after us were getting seated before us. The hostess had no idea what happened. Another guest saw what was happening and even offered us their table.... When we finally got seated, it took forever to get a drink order in. After we got our drinks, the waiter took off again. He should have taken our order. Another 15 minutes went by..... I understand that places get busy but that is ridiculous!!!
