I hadn't been here in years!! But my regular nail shop was busy and I was desperate so I came here. From What I understand this is the spot for pedicures. I had been there a few weeks before when my daughter and niece got pedicures. I saw how Michelle was doing someone else's nails and paying so much attention to the shape and details. I walked in and she sat me down right away. Be warned, no soak off (had a previous set that was falling apart), so that was a little intense. Do not recommend. I got my nails done and the tech made my cuticles bleed. She put some stuff on it to get it to stop bleeding and put the jar back in it's place with my blood covering the tip. The techs were all incredibly rude and inattentive. The cleanliness in the salon was deplorable. I couldn't get all the pictures I wanted to get without being obvious but there is fingernails and nail dust covering every surface of the tables. The decor, the arms rests, the lamps, inside UV/LED lights. Not to mention that they didn't finish my sisters manicure before moving on to the next one. Will not be coming back here. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! (*the picture was before heading to the nail salon) I was very unhappy with the service. We arrived around 6 and already felt like they did not want to attend to my sisters and I. Prior to arriving we had a coupon we found on Yelp. It was for $21.99 it was a deal for Pedi and Medi. Upon being seated we show the coupon and they wouldn't even look at it. They laugh multiple times and said the coupon was from 4 years ago. I said that was false advertisement and they proceeded to laugh and speak in their native language. I may not know their language but was well aware they were talking about us. This continued through the whole time we were there. The feet tubs were not clean and the did not let my sister's nail polish dry off. They were rude when we spoke to them. With pleasant memories of my last visit to Michelle Nails & Spa still fresh in my brain, I was eager to schedule a return visit while I was in town for Thanksgiving. I even talked my sister into going with me. Unfortunately our experience this morning was night and day by comparison. The shop was cold and uncomfortable. The selection of non gel polish was very limited. When I was trying to find a matching red polish for my toes the ladies in the shop kept bring me purple and pink selections. They just didn't understand that I wanted red. My sister bought a flower, and what they did is indescribable. So I am including a picture. I came here because I saw many good reviews for Helen she did a descent job but being as I am certified to do nails I could say that it looks like ill need a fill very soon but they are pretty ... Helen also became upset Because I think I took too long to choose a color... but if I don't like the way a color looks on me I'm going to choose a different color.. My mom and I have been going to Michelle regularly. Love the service! It always depend who does our mani-pedis. Of course some give better feet/hand massages, some does better "cleaning" of nails but we always come out feeling pampered. And of all nail salons I've been to, this is the nicest place. I hate to give a place only 1 star but it was horrible. I just needed a quick mani/pedi and it was literally around the corner from where I was. The customer service was ok, but the place was disgusting. The water was slimy, the massage was less than 3 minutes. I went in specifically for callous removal and left with them. There were 2 ladies sitting, one on the iPad and one on the phone. And there was dust and grime everywhere... Literally could run my finger over any service and it was covered in nail dust or just regular dust?! So gross. I wanted to tell them to get up and clean! Have some pride in the place you work at! It was seriously the grossest place, and it won't last if they don't get an overhaul. Don't waste your money. I paid $30 for 2 coats polish on my feet and 1 one my hands. I absolutely love this place. I could only speak for the pedicures. For $18 you get hot stone massage, sugar scrub, hot wax on your feet and the basics and they take their time. They don't rush to get as many people as they can in a day. It really feels great and its way better then any of the other places around town. You really get your money's worth and more. read more

Run! Fast and far! New to the area and stopped in for a pedicure. The place was a little busy, so I had hoped I had stumbled on to a good salon with regular clients. After about a 10 minute wait, I was directed to chair 1. Walked to the chair and saw a puddle of soapy water in the tub, leftovers from the prior client. I told the girl I would wait until the chair was cleaned before I sat down. The pedicurist came over, ran some water in the tub, put the plug in and told me it was ready. Ahhh, NOOO! That is not clean and I am not trusting you with my toes. Put my pretty red polish back in the polish station and left. I feel like I dodged a bullet and an infection. This place is absolutely filthy. Chairs, floors, and walls are stained and dirty. Can only assume their tools are the same. They jump from doing a clients nails to touching everything around them and going back to a different client without washing their hands... Service is absolutely terrible. I went in and asked to get my nails done, and Michelle made me wait near an hour long to tell me she can't do my nails?! Not to mention, at the time of walk in she did not acknowledge or greet me. Just walked out of this place! I had been here before and it was ok, but today was just absolutely the worst thing ever. I told her I wanted a manicure and a fill I just came back from a trip and I needed my nails done since it had been a while. She started removing the color and then grabbed an acrylic nail and stuck it between my nail and the powdered nail (sorry I don't know the terminology for this things) and just pulled it. She torn my nail halfway, and she just said "oh I broke it" and continued. I hadn't seen it was bleeding until she started sanding it again, so I said it "is bleeding?" She then said: "I'll cut it." She was going to cut my bleeding nail with a dirty nail clipper, I said no and I walked out! I just haven't had a good experience getting my nails done, but this was just absolutely outrageous nobody had ever torn my nail like this before. If I could give no stars I would. I was a loyal customer of Michelle's from when she was with JC Nails. I followed her to her own salon and it was ALL DOWN HILL from there. Firstly, don't bother making an appointment. Michelle and her un pleasant staff will see you whenever they want. I constantly made appointments only to have to wait 15-20 minutes. Getting an appointment with Michelle herself is next to impossible. She is always too busy and will try to pawn you off on anyone else available. Secondly, THEY ARE ALL RUDE. I was ok with their horrible customer service because the work was good, but recently my gel nails lift and peel and the manicure is sloppy. The pedicure chairs are dirty and I have NEVER seen them clean a machine after using it. Lastly, waxing is the most unpleasant experience I have ever had with waxing. She ruined my eyebrows and accidentally poured wax on my eyelashes and hair. She was sloppy and rushed me out. I will NEVER go there again. I am extremely disappointed to have to find another salon for manicures, but Michelle's Nail & Spa is the worst! Beware! read more

I first tried Michelle's a couple of months ago after feeling frustrated with the lack of quality yet affordable nail salons in Santa Cruz county. Here are my red flags for this business: 1. The place is filthy, from the millions of things stacked all over the floor behind the work stations, to the very brief scrub down of the tubs in between pedicures. 2. Their customer service needs an overhaul. I don't think I've ever been to a business where the majority of the employees seemed genuinely unhappy/bothered to see a customer, including the owner!!!! I think Michelle should lead by example, and clearly customer service is not her priority. 3. Quality of work is hit or miss. The first time I was there Michelle cracked my nail in half taking off an old set of nails. The cut was pretty deep and it wouldn't stop bleeding. I still have pain in my nail where it's growing out. The second time I also saw Michelle and this time my nails looked amazing. So amazing, I didn't go for a fill for a little over 3 weeks. Third time I saw the other nail tech and not even one week later I'm already hating how my nails look. I went back for a pedicure a couple of days ago and ended up with butchered cuticles. Soooo, moral of the story is you get what you pay for and no matter how good your nails look, the amazing prices, or how close to home this place is, in the end it's not worth it to risk getting an infection or worse. read more

I've been coming to Michelle since she opened her salon. She used to do my nails at another local salon she worked at and I loved how she did nails,so I followed her when she decided to go and open her own business. Every time I come in I usually call to make an appointment but her and the girls are always super nice and attentive to me and any guest I bring with me to get our nails done. I would go to the salon just to see Helen then Michelle started meddling in our conversations and talking shit in her native language where I wanted to snatch her over the counter while she was picking her nose I stopped going there thinking they would clean the place up but it just got dirtier and dirtier I do not recommend the salon you can go in on any given day .
