I do so much of my shopping online these days, it's almost a let down to shop in any brick-and-mortar. Parking is usually a pain and people with their shopping carts are worse. I've shopped at many different Michael's locations in many different states and they're all pretty much the same. Parking was plentiful here and not one shopping cart incident the whole time. Most of what they have in stock reflects the current wants and tastes of the local community. My husband was looking for macrame supplies and I guess the good people of Tualatin aren't much into macrame. Aside from some cotton cord, supplies were none existent. I, on the other hand, was looking to spruce up my fireplace mantle with a more coastal theme and needed some sea stars and large seashells. There were no sea stars to be found but I did score a decent size bag of beautiful seashells. Good sizes and varieties, and perfect for my project. At checkout there was one register open and the person being helped was having issues with her gift card (of course!). The salesperson said three employees had called in sick that day and we were welcome to use the self-checkout. Both of us being strong Union supporters, we declined and said we'd be happy to wait. When we finally got to the register, the woman gave us 25% off just for being so patient. Thanks!!!! I've been trying to get a piece of art framed for over a week at this location and every single evening I have gone in or called ahead and the employees always have an attitude and tell me that the department isn't open because of call outs. I get it, I used to work retail. But how are you just having an entire department not function for over a week? I'll just go somewhere else. read more

Michaels is my go-to craft store and I've shopped at many locations over the years. While this Michaels is located in the same strip mall as HomeGoods, which I visit often, I rarely stop in. It's a big store, but never seems to be well-stocked. The layout is confusing and the checkout is slow, consistently. Tip: always go online for their weekly coupon. There is always one available so why not take advantage of the discount. While I'm waiting inline, I go online to get barcode. Plenty of parking out front. Easy access to I-5. In same strip mall as HomeGoods. These are the positives. Bottom line, when I need something to finish a craft, and I'm in this area, I stop in but I never make a specific trip to this location. This michael's has AWFUL customer service. No one helped me find my yarn, when i asked multiple times. The place is very dirty, and unorganized. To top it all off my boyfriend who has a medical issue, was using the restroom - and the worker had a fellow co worker go into the restroom and rush him out! Bought a frame online and it arrived damaged (under the plastic wrap, so manufacturer wrapped a damaged product). When I returned it, they would not refund the $8 shipping cost, even though they admitted it was a damaged product. Sigh. I was given store credit for the rest of the cost, and decided to order a few custom mats for another project. Two weeks later, no word on the order, when they said it would be ready in a few days. I called the store and they said that the order had been picked up. I wasn't called, and certainly didn't pick them up. They apologized and said they would reorder on a rush. Several days later, still no word and I called again. Same story about it being noted as picked up, and the reorder was never placed. The order was prepaid and now almost 3 weeks since the order was made. I'm so frustrated! I have a couple of other custom framing projects, but I'll be shopping for them elsewhere. Michaels is one of my go to craft stores to shop at. They have a pretty good selection of what I need and they usually have a good supply in stock. Their framing department is very helpful. I needed some art framed and they helped me pick out some frames so I didn't need to have a custom job which helped save some money. Their employees are helpful when I need help finding something. The only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars is because of their curbside pickup. I placed an order and followed the steps for pick up. It took a while for someone to bring out my order. That would be the only downside so I'll probably just shop in the store from here on out. read more

i will no longer shop at michaels!!! 1 star is generous! i was so disappointed when i went to get just a few things. i found what i needed and one of the items was marked down which was great. my disappointment came when i went to check out. i was greeted by a very sweet and polite associate... but...when asked if i was paying card she directed me to choose a station...to check myself out!!! even though i had 2 items i should not have to check myself out especially when there was no line of customers!! instead of spending $13 dollars at your store, i went to hobby lobby and spent $23 and and i did not have to work and check myself out!! so you executives at michaels... you have lost a customer!! read more

All were freshly ironed, on hangers and in a garment bag. After 6 visits and 8 weeks later than promised, It was clear that this was well beyond their capability. I have had more than a dozen jerseys framed. Most of them at various Michaels stores. These two were framed and a third was still not ready. It was time to cut my losses and bring them home. Will have to find another framing place that can do the work properly. You can decide for yourself if you can live with this level of workmanship for the price that is being charged for framing. Do not expect great customer service because you won't get it but honestly I could care less because I am a craft store pro and come here all the time. The have coupons (go online or on your phone and grab them every time you shop) wich are pretty great and always have super sales throughout the store. The rule here is NEVER buy anything full price. If you need a spendy item you can always get a 40% an item coupon...go one day after another with two different coupons if you need to - the savings are WELL worth it seriously. I find so much for my house here and love wen they come out with whatever seasons new stuff. This particular location as a great selection of terrarium stuff whereas the one on Western Ave in Beaverton has far more home decor (pro tip). I went in last night and for $20 I bought a pile (and I do mean PILE) of clearance little chalkboard clip labels for when we host wine and cheese parties, a large easel version of the same, a gorgeous Parisian inspired magnet box (to hold my colored pencils), a paper mache gift box and a set of three hair clips. This brings me to several other points with Michaels which are most about the front of the store where you can find "THE BINS". First off...this place RULES for stocking stuffers...most are $1.50 and under and are great stuff if you look. Anything from lotions, monogrammed mini tissue packs...you name it. I had been looking everywhere for a magnetic notepad - just something for our fridge grocery list so I wanted it to not be ugly but everywhere I looked..ugly or expensive. Randomly Michaels had ones with a simple fleur de lis - great magnet, looks awesome....$1.50 each - NO JOKE...I bought a stack! They change out the stuff constantly so take a peek. Yesterday's score was three hair claws (the perfect size you cannot find anywhere)....$1.50....can they even make them for that cheap?? I almost always find something in one of those bins so take a slow peek while getting into the line. read more

I love Michaels, but this location is not the best. The staff is super knowledgeable about where everything is when I need to find something so they get 5 stars for the helpfulness alone. However, the checkout line in the evening is slow. There's usually one checker. Evening/rush hour time is when people get off work and go to Michaels to buy their supplies so there should be at least two checkers. First world problem! I needed to go #1 amid my browsing and when I went into the bathroom, there were two stalls and both of them were disgusting!! Both had unflushed poop all over the place. Seriously, what the heck?! Who goes into Michaels and takes a dump and doesn't flush?! In the LADIES room of all places! Why are you taking a dump at Michaels?? I feel bad for the employees who have to clean this. I had to hold my pee while I continued browsing and went at Fred Meyer across the street instead. I thought Freddy's was bad, but Michaels was worse! I come here often. I like to DIY and craft. I mostly come here for craft paint, spray paint, and dried flowers oh and colored paper. I also get some seasonal decorations for the holidays. As for customer service I can't say. I'm one of those people that would rather not be bothered by customer service people. So I like being left a lone. I have also been to this store enough times, that I know where everything is. As for selection, this store is pretty small. Smaller than any Michael's I have ever been to. Wished they had some fabric selection as I'd rather not go to Joanne's on 99W. read more

I've never had a better experience with an online return IN MY LIFE! I purchased some frames on Michaels.com on Black Friday. 2 of the 4 frames came in shattered. I was so disappointed, as the prices were only good on Black Friday. I was afraid I wasn't going to get the same sale if I re-ordered them. I was prepared for the worst when I called Michaels customer service. Much to much overwhelming delight, the representative not only re shipped the same frames free of charge, they credited me back the amount of the original purchase! Who does that!!? Michaels does!!! In a word where we're seeing customer service at an all time low, Michaels has raised the bar so high, I'm not sure anyone can beat them! Hooray! The lady at the register let me run back and grab more Christmas stuff after I realized what a great deal everything was. That gets five stars. My fiancé was at the register while she was ringing up the MANY items I bought, so I hurried and grabbed a few more other things. I got back as she finished scanning. She was so polite, so welcoming, and so friendly. The whole, entire Christmas aisles were 80% off, and I realized this Christmas that I don't have much decorations. I figured I'd wait until the end of the season, and I'm glad that I did! I got two wreaths, lots of bows, quite a few weeks ornaments, and flowers for under $30! The store was clean and organized; even the Christmas aisles! The employees were helpful. Parking was easy, and checkout was awesome. I'm told constantly that I'm a crafty person, but I need to be straight with you: I don't feel crafty at all. I don't get Pinterest. I've never picked up a knitting needle. I've never hooked a rug. I'd sooner staple my pant legs than learn to properly hem, and I couldn't create a centerpiece to save my life. Well, maybe, I could throw something together... I mean... to save my life. Yet. I have projects. So many projects. And those projects often require crafty materials. I've spent countless hours wandering the aisles of the likes of JoAnn's, Fabric Depot and Michael's looking for just the right bauble or shiny doohickey for that costume, or invitation, or who knows what. In contrast to other reviewers, I've never had a bad interaction with the staff here, but then again, I've never asked much of them except to ring up my purchases. The strength of Michael's above its counterparts lies in things stamp- and sticker- and frame-related. And holiday themed, and Christmastime smelly. That last one might just be a craft store thing in general, though, because JoAnn's (OK in the stamps department but better in the paper punches and jewelry stuffs) has a pretty strong lock on that cinnamon-soaked Christmas aroma too. read more

Um ya, no. I rarely go to Michael's after finding all the locally owned art stores here that are truly so much cheaper. BUT, I needed a mat and fast and didn't have the time to drive out for it so I stopped in. Once home, the mat was just a centimeter larger than the size advertised on the label and too big for the frame so, back to Michael's. When I asked to do a simple exchange for a mat that was actually the correct size (I brought my ruler) I was hounded, scolded and told that if they let me do the exchange that I then couldn't return the next one should there be a problem because "really once I spent the money they didn't have to do anything further for me". Uhhhh what? Thanks for the lecture and the obvious inability to service your customer. Never a fan of Michaels and craft stores in the first place, there's so much clutter and just overwhelmed with stuff. But I usually take that into account while shopping here but this time i got annoyed. I asked the staff if there were any other mason jars or small tins anywhere else in the store and she looked at me and said "if you didn't see more then there are no more" I told her this is not what I asked, I was asking if there were anymore anywhere else in the store. She looked very annoyed and just said "no". Which was funny because I found more tins in the soap and soap dye section, which is what I was looking for. read more

I go here quite a bit to find all varieties of crafting supplies for such as knitting, weaving, scrapbooking, you name it. The store is so big and they always have such a variety of items that it is fun just wandering around. PRO: Great variety, great prices. CON: For a store so big, it seems a tad bit understaffed, there seems to be 1-2 cashiers in the store.. and that's it. TIP: Try to find a coupon on the internet for discounts whenever possible. Due to the amazing plethora of items for almost every crafting need, and great prices, I have been a loyal customer for the last 17 years- that is until last weekend! I brought my mother in for your big sale, you were running a 40% off coupon for 1 regular priced item, and a 15% off coupon good for savings off of your entire purchase of sale items. We spent about $160.00 dollars, and the clerk only applied the 40% off coupon to the 1 regular priced item as stated but forgot the 15%. The difference in price for our total purchase was around $24.00. I called the next day, and spoke with 4 store associates as I was transferred all around the store. The first person had no knowledge, and transferred me to an employee named Denise, who was beyond rude, and sounded angry that I had a question about a possible price adjustment. I understood that it wasn't her department and even apologized for the last employee who transferred me to her, the wrong person. Next, I was then transferred to another employee who said he was a clerk. He lightened up when I explained that I did retail for over 10 years, and remember fully well about people who would call up and complain about something I had no control over. I stated that in no way would I want to cause a problem, but I would just like to have a price adjustment if possible by bringing in my receipt. It was then explained to me that I would have to bring back every item purchased to receive a price adjustment, since the computer system requires that you return each item, which would then have to be repurchased for it to get the sale price. I told the clerk that while if this is store policy, that isn't his fault or anything, but I found it unacceptable that I would have to bring in all of those heavy candles I purchased, along with all of the little items, some of which were already apart due to a project we started. This employee then transferred me to a manager named Shawn. Shawn informed me that no one would want to impute the sku numbers by hand from the receipt, which was the reason for having to bring back every single item for a price adjustment. Now, if this is your policy, that is terrible customer service for an issue that WAS YOUR FAULT, and why do your employees not learn their 10 key? Both Shawn and the employee I spoke to before him told me that inputting the numbers by hand would take about a half hour? Really? C'mon!! What really blew me away was the attitude I got from your manager.!!!! I was very polite to all 4 employees I spoke with when I called, and all I asked for was if they could problem solve around this, maybe just even issue a store refund would have been nice, but the attitude was shocking. The exasperation in this manager's voice was disrespectful, and then he pretended to not know which sale had just ended the previous day! Wow that makes me never want to come back! Clearly my purchase for $160+ was not valued, and I am not a valued customer. Your employees that work in the store, are the face of your company. Is this what you want people to think of when they need to purchase art supplies? I'm so glad that I live in an area, where there is competition. Wow. What a terrible experience. For a Christmas party I wanted to make a kicky holiday fascinator, and called ahead to see if they sold the little fascinator hats for decorating. Since I live half an hour away, I didn't want to waste a trip. I was told by the employee that yes, they had exactly what I was looking for. Got in my car, drove over, and wandered around the store for 15 minutes searching first for the supply, then for any possible employee to help me. I ended up having to bug the people at the framing department, who after an additional 10 minutes intercepted the manager, who sent the message down from on high that they didn't have them after all. Total waste of my time, gas and money. Why are they so understaffed that you have to stalk down help? I don't normally go here, which just transformed into never. younger cashier with long dark brown hair and medium skin tone rung me and my husband up around 7:30 last night 9/28/18. The women she was checking out before me left one of her bags on the counter and started walking away. I was waiting in line and the cashier said to me " tell her to come back." And pointed to the bags she left. I sat there dumbfounded that she asked me to tell her costumer that she left her bags when the women wasn't even far away. I asked "what?" And she said "can you tell her." And points to the bags again. Feeling bad for the women about to leave her stuff because this cashier doesn't want her to do her job and wants me to do it for her I gently said " ma'am your things." She came back to the counter and said thank you to us and left. The younger women started ringing us up and never once said thank you to me. Seemed pretty rude, I don't mind helping people but if your working and being so lazy you can't just slightly raise your voice to say you left your stuff and tell your costumer to do it and not even say thank you? Very rude. I am giving more stars because I love the selection here and you they have coupons on the regular. read more

I would go to Michael's more if the service was more consistent. This location is no different than the other Michael's location. Actually, they have more friendly employees here but there's one particular employee that I always usually get and she is never friendly. She never smiles and acts really dis-interested in engaging me as a customer. I don't know if corporate just likes to hire ornery, rude, crabby employees or what. Unfortunately, I have to give this place a 2 star because of this employee. Michael's needs an overhaul on customer service training for their employees. They suck at customer service. read more

I'm not a craft or art guru, I'm a complete newby but I like to do fun projects from time to time. So of course I go here so I can get all the things I need for said project in one place. I have been here many times and the products are good the prices are fair I really appreciate the discounts from the app I found (And here comes the BUT) but, the lack of customer service drives me crazy! On my last visit looking for something I have never looked for before (mod podge) not one person was able to help me for quite a bit. It was easier to find some of the thing that I needed than it was to find someone that worked there (I think they were hiding from me!) When I did find a gal I had gathered everything I needed except the mod podge (by the way not a fan of mod podge after several attempts and fails for the record), as she scurried away in the opposite direction she yelled back aisle 2! Well that's great since the aisle go to the ceiling and it's like where's waldo looking for the aisle markers. To top it off I finally get to the check out and I felt as though I was bothering the lady. Not a smile or a greeting. Long story short they have what I need so I will continue to shop there but they only get 2 stars for there sub-par customer service. I think ever since I had my credit card replaced and the bank told me that this was the place that my card number was stolen from a swiper reader, I have been a little wary of it. Actually, that isn't the only bad experience I have had at this store, but the other was out of the control of the management of the store. One can find what they need and if they are conscientious about sale/coupons can get reasonable prices. Good for stocking stuffers, my kiddos make stuff... overall it is fun to get the stuff, but with my card number having been ripped off once in 2012 or 13, I guess I can't say much better than 2 stars. read more

Mindy was an incredible help, with helping to pick the ready made frames, for my mother's art work so she could be in an art show this week.
