Employees out in other parts of the store... some are smiling some aren't. The ones that have a look on their face like they don't want to be there will put on a fake smile when you ask for help. There are a handful that are always smiling and always ask if they can help you as you walk around and they see you. Pretty well stocked for general items. Seasonal item areas on this visit were empty shelves on aisles as they switch to holiday items from summer outdoor items. Prices are comparable to other craft stores, not always the cheapest. Since all items are price lsticker label tagged, the prices can vary on the same item. So check through the packages or items, there might be a lower price tag. Cashiers need to either memorize what's on sale or check their sales list, so I've noticed i don't always get the sale price. Always check your receipts. Location is convinient for when I'm running errands at the mall, but it's not always my go to craft store. Store is always clean as well as having clean restrooms. You need a pass code to use the bathrooms.

I was looking for a spot to shop for yarn other than Michael's and came across this store…read more Admittedly, I was a bit nervous visiting a yarn store, considering I was just restarting my knitting/crochet hobby. My first trip, I was greeted warmly and guided throughout the store. I learned far more about yarn weight and fiber than I'd ever thought I would, and the lady was kind enough to sit through my silly questions. After that, I've repeatedly made more trips for yarn projects (that will eventually be done), but I appreciate that they rotate their brands throughout the year.

I used to knit a lot, but lost interest a couple years ago, and recently decided to try and get back in to it. When I arrived at Fillory I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed help with anything. I asked for a simple pattern to help ease me back into knitting. The staff member (maybe the owner?) guided me to a table covered in free patterns they were giving away for LYS day and said I should pick one and then they would help me find the right yarn for the pattern. I picked what I hope is an easy shawl pattern and then another staff member led me to the appropriate yarn section. There were so many choices of beautiful yarn I had a hard time deciding. I finally settled on a skein of Malabrigo in variegated shades of blue. I didn't see the needles I needed for the project, but it turned out they had them behind the counter. It was so convenient to be able to buy everything I needed at once. To top it off, they offered to wind my skein right then and there. Usually yarn shops don't offer this service on special days like today when the shop is crowded with customers. Fillory has been around for many years through several owners. They have a large selection of yarn and helpful employees who work hard. There is also a dedicated space for social knitting if you want to drop by to knit with others. They offer a variety of classes, too.

She not only taught me how to weave (I came in knowing nothing), but also helped me understand what you can do with weaving, different kinds of looms, different kinds of yarns, and a mix of skills and theory. Amazing Yarns specializes in interesting yarns that have a unique story behind them. This can mean that they're hand-dyed, sourced from local farms, or have really interesting textures. Andrea has many examples in the shop of advanced projects for any weaver, knitter, or crocheter.
