We had only moved to Tracy couple years ago and really liked picking up tools, yard stuff and would other cute household items here, stuff upfront so helpful, friendly kind. But then due to having to shop quickly I would still buy things but did online. I didn't give alot of thought about something til this last time in there. It seemed like when going to back to pu items online, they weren't very friendly and when I also wanted help with something in store not helpful, seemed bothered. Then the last time needed to return something actually rude. We all have our issue we are dealing with, but it bothered me so much almost every else I had bought. Came here because I heard they had pies from The Pie company based in Ripon. Was not disappointed! There's so many options and a staff member saw us trying to pick and gave us his personal recommendations. You can tell he was excited about the pies, I almost thought he worked for them. He just loves their pies. We told the cashier that it was our first time trying the pies and she was also happy to tell us all about them. I've always gone to Ace over other hardware stores because of the superior customer service, but the staff here could use a pep talk. Every other Ace I've been to has staff that would come up and ask if you need assistance, but oddly enough, the staff here seems to avoid engaging with customers or enjoy chatting amongst themselves. Yesterday I found myself needing to wait for several hours in Tracy for a pet service and I couldn't believe my great luck in finding the local ACE Hardware on North Tracy Blvd. The day before I had spent the day trying to find a locksmith storefront where I could make a copy of a 2011 Honda CRV car key. Almost all in the bay area are mobile. I walked into ACE Hardware and immediately was helped by Derrick, a 20+ year employee of ACE. He was incredibly helpful, professional and knowledgeable! When I asked if they made car keys, expecting a "no", he said that this ACE does indeed make car keys onsite! Even though you normally need an appointment, Derrick enthusiastically jumped into my project, including cutting the key and programming it to my car! It was a very reasonable price of $129 which is the lowest I had found--some places were $200+ for a programmed key. I highly recommend this ACE hardware. You are generally not going to find this high-quality service at a big box hardware store and it felt great to be supporting a local business. Thank you Derrick! If I could leave a negative I would.. There is this one guy that works there that has no customer service skills and why he works there have no clue.. arrived at 5:30 with a propane tank and all of a sudden propane is closed. Store closes at 6 there message machine states 15 mins before closing they would close propane service. Last week needed a fuse asked him to open the glass case asked me what I needed I let him know I just needed to look and read and gave attitude just because I needed to find a fuse found it and he would not know what I needed for a 60 jute box 2 amp slow burn fuse... Call manager she stated that they are short handed and they now have it posted at 4:45 on the doors I let her know the store message state 5:45. Still would not of drove across town if there message stated that. So, a store that is open due to lack of personal will sacrifice customer service? How does that work? Great management. read more

Yes you close at 6 and yes you don't need to let anyone in. At 6:01, the tough guy working the door was told there was a part needed or else the water was going to have to stay shut off in the house until the following day. A family and infant are depending on it. People are still in the store and the part needed is known and will be in and out before the people already in there checkout. Tough guy says he doesn't care they close at 6, no exceptions. It would have been no sweat off your back and would not have kept you at the store one second later to accommodate. But, it's a lot easier to just say no. We don't choose when house emergencies occur or else we would have made sure it happened earlier in the evening. I bet if I walked up with my arm nearly cut off asking to go in for some duct tape I would be denied entry. Look up the letter of the law vs the spirit of the law. Not only do you lose this customers business for life, but you lose everyone they knows business especially when you're not the only place in town. Your monthly profits will not reflect a loss and you won't miss those customers but eventually you will when you do it to the next and the next and the next. read more

I need help getting the right parts to fix a Gogo scooter, and when I went in the employees were very kind and welcoming, but not only that they went to the moon and back to get me the right parts. After almost two hours of trying different nuts we found out that they didn't have the nut I needed, but these incredibly helpful and kind people still didn't give up. They improvised and ended up fixing the problem in a different way. They did almost all of they work for me. They really care about helping people. The customer service at this Tracy store has go down... Cashiers are unwilling to help customers. They have moved things around in the store and now harder to find and forget about asking for help... I guess if you're not Anglo Saxon looking you get profiled and followed. Been coming into this store 1 to 2 times a week since I moved here in July of 2019. Was starting a hydroponic garden so was buying all the necessary supplies and vegetables. Usually the majority of the employees on duty are guys. I've never had a problem until a couple days ago when I was being followed by a female employee but never approached if I needed assistance. Every time I looked at them they acted like they were up to something suspicious. It appeared to be all female employees this time. So I guess the Ace hardware women are the problem. SERVICE: I've been going to ACE for years and have always found the service excellent -- especially the super knowlegeable Kim, Debbie, and Kyle. Now a new clerk, a young woman named Madison, appears to be destined to follow in their footsteps and also become super clerk. She was friendly, professional, knowlegable, and helpful! A few years ago there was however 1 male clerk who told me they didn't have the pipe I was looking for, yet after he stopped "helping" me, I found it. He's no longer there? :) SET UP: Absolutely hate the Maze you have to go through to get to checkout. Close at 6pm most days, extremely limited inventory and not willing to go grab a kiddie pool at 550 pm because "the nursery closed at 545pm". Translation....I'm too lazy to unlock the nursery door and go grab a pool for you, come back tomorrow during our ten minutes per day that we're actually open". In this case i couldnt find what I was looking for, Home Depot website indicated where particular item was located by isle. I don't particular like home depot so I tried Ace. The fact that thier customer service didn't want to help or i was invisible indicated the store wasn't worth the effort regardless. They didn't have the product but I had to find out the hard way. Called to check the availability of a U-Haul rental or reserve one for the near future. Spoke to a gal at 8:30am. She said they may have a 15' truck available today. But she was writing a contract and would have to call me back to confirm. Ok no problem. 2 hours later at 10:30am still no call, so I called back and mentioned I called at 8:30 and was expecting a call back. She said she was busy and will have to call me back, WTF? Well okay. My wife calls back an hour later to ask the availability of trucks or reserving one and she says "Sorry were all booked!" I have yet to get a call back informing me of this.
