Got this artwork framed here. The price was incredible but I guess ya get what ya pay for. The first time I came to pick it up it looked like my 4yo finished it. The frame was clean but the canvas stretching and paper backing were atrocious!! Not to mention they have no spreader bar inside and this is a 60x60 piece!!! They fixed the stretch. Sorta. Still looser than I believe it should be. No stretch bar. So I will have to add this myself. The archive paper back - non existent. Sadly the employees could care less. read more

I just tried calling them to see if there was an item at their store so I would save myself some trouble of driving over there. Someone answered the phone and said he would look for it and left me on hold for over 30 minutes. After waiting that long, I decided to recall them to see if they may have forgotten to find it or let me know. I call back twice and each time they decline the call. Just leaving this Michaels with the worst experience of treatment by, of all people, the manager of the store-Alister. Stay clear of him!! He was so rude. I was looking at some craft items and I hear a very forceful excuse me! I looked up to find an employee saying that, I guess I didn't move fact enough because he yelled MOVE!! That was rude I thought. Skip forward to waiting on line and he's at a register. This rude abrupt attitude continued with other customers as well. He literally ripped off the guy in front of me wanting to do an exchange for the exact frame in a different color. He returned the frame first for $14 and then tried to charge $35 for the new one. That really isn't the point as much as how incredibly rude and demeaning he was to the guy. When the guy tried to say forget it, I'll just take my frame back, he was like, " sorry sir, that's in our inventory now". How on earth do you have a person work with customers like this, and he's a MANAGER?? You can tell the other employees were cringing too. Probably better to not even go to this Michaels. read more

I'm glad they opened this location, closer to me. I used to go to the one in Burbank, at the Empire Center and it was crowded, had long lines, etc. This location is big, had to learn my way around, but it has everything you need and the customer service is decent. They have restrooms inside the store (there are some right outside, too), very convenient, I'm not a huge fan of the parking lot, but it's free. You can get coupons on line for this location, too, always a plus. You need it, some of their prices for frames, bigger ones, collage ones are kinda high for what they are. This location might not be the biggest Michaels one ever, but it does its job, you find what you need, easy to shop, more laid back. Glad it's here! read more

Shout out to Alan from the framing department!!! He answered my call when I was very rushed, after a bad experience with a canvas stretch at a different place. I previously called other framing places that only tried to overcharge me and said it will take several days, but Alan put me at ease right away with great confidence. When I got to the store he immediately offered to fix my issue on the spot in the most kind and professional manner. Truly saved the day for me! I left another picture for him to work on, and receiving it back was a real pleasant experience. I definitely recommend and will visit again for my next print job. read more

Had to update this review after running in there again this morning, because experience was good: This place is great if you need stuff in a hurry but some things are pricier and some things are less. For example cake boxes are about five times higher than cake stores, however, fondant is actually less because it's in a much bigger container. Framing is the same and might not be done as well as niche frame shops, it really depends on who you get. They do have a decent cake and pastry section. It's two blocks away so I run in and out for emergency supplies on cards, paper, baking stuff. The other day I bought a box but forget to grab the lid, today when I was back, I asked for the lid only (without my receipt-of course-I like to throw things out and make my life difficult) so I just told them I had forgotten to put it in my basket and had zero expectations...and they let me have the matching lid on trust. What? I haven't seen that kind of customer service since I lived in Nebraska. read more

Just had the best experience in the framing department at Michael's. Ivan was exceptionally helpful and patient with us, and really changed our perspective on custom framing. I've had a few bad experiences in the past, and have overpaid for poor framing because I just didn't know any better. My Fiancé ordered a very special collectible poster online and we needed an honest, creative, and experienced person to help us design the perfect frame on a budget. Ivan walked us through tons of different frames, matte colors, and did several mock-ups to help us create the PERFECT frame. And he made it fun!! Super nice guy, fabulous attitude, and because of him I'm now planing to bring several one-of-a-kind prints and posters to him because I trust him and enjoyed the experience. This is a new michaels. Just opened and very clean. Personally I hate craft stores, but she loves them so I'm here. But they have seasonal craft supplies and yearly supplies. The only bad thing about this place is the parking underground. Just a hassle and not a clear walkway. You have to go out of the parking lot and around the building to get in. By the way Alexus was awesome as well as lendy!!! So nice and helpful!! read more

A little hard to navigate, and even more difficult to do so when there are so few associates walking around. I think it would be helpful if there was a floor map upon entering? Beware of old sale signs. I purchased an item that was supposedly 50% off, but when they wrung it up it was full priced. I caught that and they had another associate price check. It turns out it was an old sale. Thankfully they still honored the sale! Overall, the store had everything I needed and good sales! Came here to pick up an online order and I might as well could have gone to the store and found the items on my own. There weren't any signs to figure out where to go and when I found someone to ask, she rudely told me to go to the framing section of the store (again-how am I supposed to know the pick ups are there without any signs?) When I get the the framing area, there are two employees with one customer, not acknowledging that I'm waiting to be helped. After waiting for that customer to be helped, another customer was helped and then that third employee realized that I needed to be helped (during this time the two employees left without asking me anything). One of those employees came back after being called and then helped me. I had three items to purchase at the time and she said that I had to then wait, yet again, in a line of 6+ customers to buy any extra items. Simply put, Michael's lost profit that they could have easily acquired. read more

I would leave zero stars if I could. But this review is for the girl working the front desk this morning(5/16/22) when I called at 9 AM. She answered my phone call politely but was useless. I asked her if they had a certain product in stock and I even gave her the item number and she said it was it online only item when I was looking at it online and it said that it was available in store and in stock and even told me the aisle number. She told me she was going to go look on the floor for it. She then said she couldn't find it. Worst 1st exp. My visiting mother and I were locked out of michaels behind where the elevatora are and no security came. Beside that its INCREDIBLY alarming that this place dpesnt have any security for any emergancy what so ever, we were stuck for 10 min. Even though there was no security call button or anything someone communicated to us that they would call security. Never showed up. Another group explained that there was another way to get out. But I would NEVER come here again with how NO STAFF was seen the entire tome we were there. Also guy parked in the entrance of the extended parking lot and being very aggressive when we asked to get through. But of course NO SECURTY HERE! read more

This location arguably has the nicest and most helpful staff in all the Michaels stores I have ever been to! If that doesn't entice you enough to come here then the location itself should too! Though this store is situated in Ventura blvd it's situated inside a plaza with great restaurants and shops. Parking can be a bit of a problem here so there's always garage parking in case you don't find one on the ground level. It looks small from afar but once you enter the michaels on the second floor you'll notice it's actually a lot bigger than it looks and has just about everything you'll need from a Michaels store and more. read more

This is literally the BEST Michael's I've ever been to. If you are sick of going to the run-down Jo-Ann's on Riverside... which has a terrible store, with terrible stock, and terrible employees.. don't walk, RUN to this Michael's location. It's only a few miles away and I finally feel like crafting more often because I have a store I actually WANT to go to now! They have everything you can imagine in stock, from cardstock paper, to glitter, every type of mod podge possible, baking supplies, and more. They also do art classes/craft classes here. When I walked in for my first time I was struggling to get one of their shopping totes untangled from the holder, and an employee not only immediately helped me set it free, but walked around for ~10 minutes with me helping me gather the rest of my necessary supplies for a DIY project. She went above and beyond. It's clean, well stocked, and will make you spend your money. ;) read more

I recently broke a framed piece of art from Aaron Brothers, and since they closed their standalone business and are now inside this Michaels, I brought it for repair. This is my favorite Michael's store to go to. All the team members are friendly and helpful. There is always someone around to help you and someone will always come up and make sure you are finding everything okay. If you are looking for something not only will they tell you where but they will also show you where it is. I also noticed that even though they are closing they don't announce it over the intercom making you feel rushed; they will simply wait until you are done shopping. Brought my prints to be framed and left with wrinkled prints inside the frame! I spent almost $600 for 5 frames! And I can't even unseal them try and flatten them out. I didn't realize until I hung them up and the recess lighting showcased all the wrinkles. Wouldn't they seal it so there are no wrinkles? The prints were wrinkle free! If I had known this- I would have just framed them myself! So much for professional work. Do not bring your prints here unless you want wrinkled work. It's so unprofessional and a complete waste of money. I know if I take it back they won't do a thing about it so I'm letting you all know. read more

Misleading sale signs. When I asked if they had a product the cashier told me to check the storage under the shelving which made me feel a little odd as a customer. Then when I asked someone else he looked in the drawer said it wasn't there and then as I walked away he told someone I assume he was training that it's always pointless to check the back. The woman cashier was very 'bizarre'. She proceeded to tell one of my friends that he couldn't afford what he had on the counter and asked him to refer to his 'boss' another person in our group. She then got mad because we didn't have our Michaels coupon on our phone and when we said the phone was in our car & the other one froze trying to pull up the coupon she ridiculed us. The layout of this Michael's location is weird. They should reorganize the whole store. I came in to buy a couple of things for a work project and there was a middle aged male employee walking around. Not once did he greet me or ask me if I wanted any help, but he did conveniently pop up in every aisle I was browsing through, which is very annoying. I don't like to feel watched while I'm shopping. Besides that, the cashier that checked me out (Gaby, if I'm not mistaken), was so friendly and the only reason I didn't give one star. read more

I was at Michael's again tonight with a friend and must commend the poise and professionalism of their manager Alistar who was working on a register. The man in front of us told him he wanted to return a frame he bought and get another instead. Alistar verified what the man wanted to do, proceeded to do the return, and gave the man his receipt showing his refund. He then rang up the other frame and when the man was about to pay he asked why the frame was $30 when the one he returned was only, about, $13. Alistar explained the one he returned was part of a "Buy One, Get One at 50% Off" and their system gave the refund on the lesser of the two frames [I'm work in retail and that's how it works]. The man then raised his voice, demanded to know why he wasn't told that before he did the return, and began trying to get him to give him the new frame at the discounted price. Alistar remained calm and again explained how the system worked. He also told the man he'd work with him on giving him a discount, but the man kept demanding that he be given an 80% or 90% discount which, as was explained to him, wouldn't be possible, but that Alistar would try to work with him. The man then demanded to be given his original frame back. Alistar then asked "So, you want to buy this frame back...is that correct?" The man yelled it needed to be given to him since he already paid for it. Alistar tried to point out several times that the man had been refunded the money and couldn't just walk out with a frame that wasn't paid for. At this point the man demanded to know his name and asked to speak to the manager- Alistar gave his name and said he was the manager on duty. The man the yelled that when he returned the other frame he got with this one, the girl just gave him the frame without a problem and without charging him. Alistar said if he had gotten a free frame from a girl that she made a mistake and that he (Alistar) wasn't going to give him a free frame, but if he wanted to re-buy the one he just returned that wouldn't be a problem. The man began using profanity and after he made a threatening comment, he was asked to leave the store which, thankfully, he did. Alistar apologized to us and to others in line that we had to witness this mans behavior. I asked Alistar for his name so we could compliment him on his professionalism and remaining calm under the circumstances- he's a true professional who dealt with a very difficult customer in very professional way. read more

Every time I visit this Michael's I get reminded why I hate it so much. Firstly, I don't get greeted by any of the employees when i walk in. Secondly, the employees have no knowledge of anything in the store. I walked in and asked for a specific item and I was told that they don't carry that item anymore and sure enough i find it on my own. Thirdly, the cashiers take their job so seriously as if they're going to stop world hunger if they take my employee discount. Literally the woman at the register canceled my transaction after i told her I'm an employee and called the unprofessional manager. The cashier was flabbergasted after i presented my employee card after the transaction and I'm not kidding you she sounded like she was going to cry as she stated "Oh you can't surprise me like that at the end of the transaction". Well whatever this cashier's name is, here's something that was left unsaid....YOU can't surprise me like that with that uneven, patchy foundation. The unprofessional manager or whatever she was, came and started interrogating me about which Michaels i work at, address, phone number, my boss's name. I told her that i have been working for Michaels since 2014 and I've been using the same card since then. Yes i have my new one which i was in my sock drawer at home and this was the only one i had with me in my wallet. She literally took MY EMPLOYEE DISCOUNT CARD and didn't give it back. Let's put all that aside, I was with my best friend who is not an employee of Michael's and wanted to finish her transaction and literally was given attitude FOR NO REASON! You need to fix that nasty attitude of yours... clearly, you have issues and decided to take your anger out on us. I will be reporting this Michaels to corporate because not only was i disrespected as an employee but also as a customer. read more

Great place to shop for arts and crafts. They have reasonable pricing. I found most of my party supplies here at a great price I never expected to find all the thing I needed. I am a huge fan of this place now, they have a very friendly staff and very helpful. They have seasonal decorations which is great. All the Christmas stuff is on sale. There's usually always a coupon you can use and once you check out you get a 40% coupon on a full-priced item on your next visit. There is ample parking on a below structure. read more

I'm just so excited, I have to share how much I love this Michael's and I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know about the rest of the staff, but Cheree blew me away with her customer service. I've never been a member of Michael's before, always wanted to, and she checked my gift cards balance and made me a member right then and there. I only had $20 on my gift card and wanted to stay in budget, she showed me how to get the coupons on my labor day weekend Michael's section and I came out with a few dollars left over! She really took the time to make sure I was truly happy, I don't think I've ever had that at a Michael's in my whole life. Just had to give a quick shout out to Oscar for his customer service. There were two examples of how it could be done.. one where this guy walked by us and we had to ask him if he had any blue pencils to draw with.. to which he said "uh no we don't". (As he was standing sideways like he was going to break or lunch or going off shift and we were the only ones between him and his beer or something) And then we had the example of great customer service from Oscar.. he came up to us and asked us if we were finding everything we needed.. to which we asked the same question (do you carry blue pencils of any kind?).. and he said empathetically "oh wow that's a tough one...well let me think..if we did it would be in the drawing art supplies area.." and he walked us over to it and looked for and found us the one blue pencil he had in stock... not exactly what we were looking for but we are buying it.. But the real lesson here is that even if it wasn't available or he was fairly sure they didn't even carry it.. he took the time to care, ask, and walk us to the area. That's customer service. And it costs the company nothing. Oscar's efforts this evening were worthy of me writing this review for Michaels. So often those things get unrecognized. This Michael's is much smaller than other Michael's. This store is smaller compared to other Michael's, like the one in Burbank. I came here to take a look at their Scrapbooking section, which unfortunately is very limited. This is a really good Michael's for Floral Arrangements, T-shirt decorating stuff, Seasonal items, $1 things (there's a whole row of things for $1), and Jewelry. I did see a class making jewelry when I walked in. Looks like a great place to take classes. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive. read more

I must say this is the BEST Michael's I have ever been to. All the Michael's I have been to before 3 or LESS star ratings on yelp. However, this one has 4 stars and I really see a huge difference. I came to this Michael's to buy baking supplies and I was surprised to see that they actually had everything I needed and more. I'm SO SAD the Michael's in Panorama City closed! It was the closest location to my house and had a GREAT yarn selection! If you are a knitter, DON'T shop here, they have NO selection of yarn! Sure, they have the basics, but if you're looking for anything other than basic yarns from Red Heart, Loops & Threads, or Lionbrand, go to Encino or Glendale. Although Michael's MAKES the Loops & Threads brand, they don't even carry more than basics of that one here, either! One of my Etsy items is made from L&T PomPom yarn, and they don't have it. Nevermind any other types of specialty yarns - stretchy yarns, sock yarns (aside from a piteous few), lace yarns, etc. My items are made-to-order, so if I have to order yarns online, it's that much longer my customers have to wait. When I asked the lady at the register why their yarn selection was so pitiful, she said, "Oh yeah, we're, like, a Michael's express, so our stock is a little less than the ones you're probably used to." "I'm so sad the one in Panorama City closed," I responded, "They had a great yarn stock." "Yeah, we replaced them." I started to express my frustration at the idea of a store with less inventory replacing a larger one, but she cut me off and rushed me out, saying "You're all set!" Like she didn't even want to hear it. THAT's customer service for ya! This location is close to my work, which is the only reason it's getting as much as 2 stars. I guess I can run in here when I'm in a pinch and in need of some basic yarn. BAD selection, BAD customer service - BAD CHOICE, Michael's!
