I just decide I *need* a yard or two of something to sit in my stash for like 5 years until I have a project in mind. I've ordered several of the different weaves - taffeta, dupioni (multiple versions including their tricolore that I don't think is carried anywhere else), shambala... I've found their colors are very true to my screen, the quality is great, I haven't encountered much in the way of flaws, and they ship really quickly. My bestie ordered a selection of silver samples to decide on fabric for her wedding outfit and they were all accounted for, and when she finally picked, it was the same color lot too. Two things that are nice/funky about Silk Baron 1) the 12 days of Christmas limited edition print/embroidered/patterned silks that roll out in December and 2) they have regular scrap sales for 1/2 and 3/4 cuts of basically everything and it's perfect for people who make small items or do things like patchwork and appliqué.

While in the area might as well check the stores. We went here specifically for fabrics. My son is into sewing right now so this place has a wide selection of different types of fabrics. They also have accessories. Are they cheaper - maybe/ maybe not but my son wanted to see fabrics so that's why we are here. He picked up some items and accessories he needs, we also got a roll of pattern paper and a yard of fabric he will use to "practice with" Service is easy - pick a fabric and bring it to the table and they'll cut it for you. Spent $80 on a bunch of stuff. Let's see if my son actually makes something out of it. He did enjoy looking and browsing over their fabrics and accessories.

I've headed to DTLA in the past for fabric, but I wasn't looking forward to that for just 1 yard of black cotton. So I grabbed a GF and headed to Canoga Fabrics in Canoga Park. While I was at first a bit surprised at the small space, I quickly realized there was A LOT to offer. HELLO Joseph! I asked for black cotton and he showed me a sampling to check out while he finished with other customers. I found THE PERFECT SHADE OF BLACK! I just needed 1 yard, so Joseph got that cut quick as a whip, I paid cash, and out I went. $8 for a yard of 60" black cotton is VERY FAIR. Sorry I forgot to snap pics, I think I was delirious with delight at being able to tick this errand off my list! I now have a new fabric option for the rare times - yeah, like once a year - I have a project to complete. While there is a Public Parking lot behind Canoga Fabric, I parked at a meter on the street and fed in enough for 2 hours so we could check out a few other places I was surprised about along this corridor of Sherman Way. There's virtually no employees on the floor to help so, myself and multiple other customers have to stand in line to ask our simple little questions that stress management out. I mean straight up stressed out, sweating, heavy breathing, like they're having an anxiety attack. This is all corporates fault really. Understaffing their stores is not helpful to anyone. I used to work at a big name art supply store, we were always fully staffed. The days we weren't, were a nightmare. Michaels needs to do better by their employees. I bought a bunch of yarn and to be honest, I'm just going to return it. I don't feel it's worth it to shop here anymore. I don't want my money going towards a corporate entity that obviously doesnt care about its employees or its customers. Customer service starts with content employees. Come on Michaels. Do better.

I usually visit Michael's store during holiday times. This store has a variety selection of items…read moresuch as frames, sewing merchandise, knitting merchandise. This store usually has great sales on the seasonal items. Depending on the time you visit this store has 40% to 50% sale. The merchandise is reasonably priced and can be cheaper compared to similar stores. Recently, they have added self checkouts. They have cashiers helping too, but it's mostly self check out. Employees are nice and friendly. No complaints about the customer service. For parking, this location has plenty of parking space shared with other stores.
