What they lack in play space they more than make up for in selection and value; You'll find models there from 5th edition at times with the same price tag. I came here for their weekly Friday Night Magic Legacy tournament and can not wait to go back. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Stopped in for the first time ever yesterday and found an amazing shop for MtG. Hidden gem. The store is loaded with all kinds of vintage and modern MtG singles and the owner (who was awesome to talk to) walked me through how I could put in a larger order. Was really excited to come here.. thinking they would have a good supply. Supplies yes they did but in a cluttered almost like hoarder way. It felt very closed in and lacking in fresh air. I read previous reviews on how there was a crib... No more crib.... Toddler running around now. It also felt as if we where being intrusive, almost as we had walked into a private club. It took about 15 minutes before anyone asked if we needed anything but at that point, the clutters and dust was wanting me to get the heck out of there.. Here there be NERDS!!! I tagged along for a recent MTG tournament and got to hang out here for hours. This "Mom and Pop" shop from what I hear has decent prices on cards and board games. They aren't that much more expensive than prices you'll find online, so you know they are honest in making their living. I've been to stores where they price gouge to the point of ridiculousness, imagine 150% from online price. This store is larger than it looks.There are two main rooms, the front room has a few tables for small games and most of the merchandise. The back room is just all tables for the larger tournaments, which our group moved to since there were so many people. The people hating need to chill out and quit exaggerating. I thought the room was plenty bright with florescent lighting, there were no weird smells and it was pleasantly air conditioned. The store might have appeared cluttered, but when you got so much merchandise where would you put it all? Floor to ceiling means selection to me! These whiners should see some shops in downtown before they whine about clutter, they would have a heart-attack. Note: There is a difference between: clutter and dirty. This store was not dirty in any way. If you're having trouble for one second, just ask Lori to help you out she'll tell you straight up if they have what you're looking for. Since I was there for a while, I got to spend time with the kids and found that they were highly intelligent, well behaved sweethearts (trust, you haven't seen unholy terrors). The boy was enthusiastically teaching me how to play "Dungeon Keeper", I was impressed with his strategy and planning. The little girl had a fantastic imagination and kicked butt building things with Lego blocks. Most of their toys were out of the way (on shelves near the bathroom or under a table in the corner) so not much of a problem. Maybe it was different when they were smaller? I didn't find this store at all disturbing, maybe the people criticizing haven't babysat before or been around many children. As parents I feel they are doing it right, foster a love for all things Nerd while their spawn are young! The only problem is parking is street only, so I think the best day to go is Sundays for the free parking. read more

Jam packed store. Yes, there's a lot of stuff everywhere but if you're looking for a specific something that's hard to find, you might just find it here. Person at the counter was very nice in helping us pick out a lovely new chess board. Pricier than any chessboard we've paid for before, but definitely much nicer and larger. When you imagine a card shop or a hobby store, Knight ware is what you're imagining. It screams "local game store". It's family run, and it comes with all the fix-ins. The owners are very personable and knowledgeable with the products on their shelves. Their prices are firm and fair. Don't expect a polished retail store. Instead, picture you're in a small town and you find yourself in the one hobby shop in town. Lori gets to know her regulars and treats them nicely. I've read some of the other negative reviews - cluttered, don't have "x", etc. If your major criteria in a game store is a wide open space with everything behind shiny counters, then this probably isn't the place for you. If you want your salesperson to be a bubble-headed chippie who has to Google every question you ask them, then shop somewhere else. "Like, um, so this "Magic" thing, it's like, a card game?" That was Borders, and they went out of business in case you didn't notice. If you want a store that will sell you your games at a decent price, this is the place. If you want to go where the shop keepers are knowledgable about any game out there and willing to share their knowledge, then this shop is for you. If you want a shop that will cater to your gaming needs without having to go through some website, this is the shop for you. If you're a Magic player, this is your shop. Period. Forget the comic book stores that sell packs of cards on the side, just go to this place and get what you want. This is the kind of shop that I would spend hours in just going through books or checking out the latest cards. They know what they're doing and they have what you want at a decent price. After having a good chuckle by reading the reviews for this place, I stepped in and got exactly what I was expecting: a hobby shop. Of course it's a clusterf*** full of board games, miniatures and trading cards! Though I didn't find what I was looking for (out of print metal Space Marines), I did find a super convenient place to stock up on Citadel paint. I like this store because they have what I wanted. Carcassonne isn't the type of game that Target or ToysRUs would carry. But they do, and all the expansions. That makes me happy. I agree the place could use some cleaning and organizing. But it's not terrible and I found what I needed quickly. There are little kids randomly walking around everywhere. The back looks like a daycare. Not a terrible thing either, just noted. The register is like 5 feet behind the counter and you have to reach across in an awkward fashion to pay. I like supporting small businesses so I don't mind paying a little more. The game was a whopping $3 more than if I had bought it on eBay. It's not that big of a difference, and I didn't have to wait for it. And there are always lots of nerds there. But it's ok. I like nerds. read more

The fact that you're in a miniature/board game store should mean that you're more than likely a nerd and a messy one. That's no reason why you need to carry on that dirty tendencies and need to come to this place and continue that wave of literal mess. The store is beyond a mess. I really don't know how they find anything. I went to a miniature game here once and saw a baby crib empty in the corner along with the mess. I have to wonder if the baby is lost somewhere. So even if they have a regular game going of whatever it is you may happen to play, I'd rather not come here at all because of the mess involved. Prices are also pretty steep on just about everything. They have to make up for all that lost product that's somewhere under the massive piles of crap, right? I knew something was off but I couldn't place my finger on it until I read some of the other Yelp reviews. I felt like it was a club vs. a store. This is a gamer's dream. You wouldn't ever know what to expect from this place because the storefront is pretty blah. Once inside, however, you'll find racks loaded with board games and trading cards (non-athletic) of all kinds. I was on a desperate search for a German style board game that I played with a group of my college alumni and couldn't for the life of me find this game anywhere. I didn't want to wait for it to get shipped to me, so I searched the 'net for gaming shops. I called the folks at Knight Ware and they not only had the game I wanted, but the follow-up version and several expansion packs, too. Yeah, I know, I know... I'm a nerd for going on this desperate hunt for board games. But you just don't know how fun train games can be. ::wipes snot from nose:: Seriously, I don't play D&D or Magic... but if I did, all my friends would be certainly hanging out at this store. They have weekly tournaments and open gaming for anyone willing to drop in and play some games on a cozy weekend or evening. The owners are both really nice and they play a lot of the games they sell so they can help answer many questions you may have. The customer service was great because she didn't need to offer to have us test out a copy of the game we wanted to buy to make sure we would like it. Knight-ware is my go to place for magic the gathering. FNM legacy is awesome and Lori has 11 decks you can borrow if you want to play. That's right, she'll let a stranger borrow 500-2500 dollars worth of cards. People call it cluttered, I like to think of it like a stored I'd find described in Harry Potter, literally over flowing with magic. Sure it can be over whelming, but once you go a few times it feels like home. Most importantly Lori, the owner is a good person who does her best to make sure everyone who attends a competitive event has a good time, and if you go to an FNM you will walk away with something, even if you come in last you can pick through the box of past promo cards. There was a time when this was my primary heroclix store. But since the initial demise of the game after Arkham Asylum, I stopped playing and didn't restart till the tail end of the web of Spider-Man. At that time more stores are running events and I stayed local with Game Empire and what is currently known as Core TCG. Lori used to be very rude at the time when I was a regular, but I am glad to report that she has mellowed out the last few years. She used to yell at people for checking prices on certain Magic singles and not buying, the prices on most Magic cards there are actually fair and quite low, but there are certain cards that are priced oddly high. This is the definition of a mom and pop store as you can often see the two young boys of the owners playing in the store. This puts some serious cramp on my style as I can't swear as much as I want, so it feels like wear a steel bikini bottom so I can not have the freedom of having an unrestricted erection. The space is also very cramped (not as cramped as aforementioned steel bikini bottom) as products are piled sky high in narrow aisles. The toilet is cramped as well and not always clean, but that is to be expected of a game store and nowhere near the disaster of a certain CAL JUNE I had the misfortune of visiting. There is a play area in the back of the store, and it is surprisingly well lit and not as cramped as the front of the store. The patrons are mostly nice people, with the exception of a couple, namely a guy who often makes unfunny jokes/puns and offer ridiculous trades, and another guy who always bitches and pretty much never fun to play with because of his piss poor attitude (you roll your dice as poorly as any one and you turtle your ass occasionally too!!) Don't let the small storefront fool you, this place is well stocked and has an old-school game shop feel about it while remaining clean and bright. There are regular Magic the Gathering and Warhammer tournaments along with other activities that keep the game calendar full. If you need miniatures, they've got them. Along with all the accessories needed to paint them up. And, of course, there are the well-stocked shelves of current rules plus old classics. I came in looking for some old miniatures and found some new ones that I'd never seen before as well! And, if you need to get your Medieval on, they have chain mail and other accessories perfect for Halloween, Renaissance Faire or your next cosplay activity. Been here a few times here and there when searching for M:TG singles, definitely has a lot on the side of supply. Although I will have to admit that it does feel like there's a bit of clutter around here and there, it doesn't change the fact that they have an overall nice set up. The owner is very helpful and has all her merchandise organized, definitely was able to pull up whatever I requested in a matter of seconds or was able to tell me they didn't have it in a quick second. The prices are are good and fair, never felt like singles were overpriced or was getting ripped off. They also hold local tournaments there, though I have yet to participate in yet; haven't constructed a Legacy deck yet. Overall it's worth checking out, they'll most likely have you need. read more

The selection is excellent, and the staff was really knowledgeable and friendly. I would like to point out a few negatives to balance out the other reviews. 1) The store is a mess. The floors are dirty, the area behind the counters is a disaster. Tubs of unfinished models and various gaming detritus everywhere. It's pretty depressing in there. 2) the prices are high. Full retail with no membership or other discounts added. For board games they're selling, buying at full price is ouch!!! Amazon and thoughthammer are so much cheaper, and the retail experience is not worth the premium. read more

The selection is amazing and they have games I've never even heard of (nor will probably ever play, but it's fun to have options). I'm not the quintessential nerd, but I love me some fun board games and a round of Magic every now and then. This store has received many unjustified bad reviews. KnightWare is a family owned and operated games store that focuses on Magic the Gathering but also sells board games and other trading card games. It is not the most pristine store and the counter is messy but I don't find this to be too important and will not give a poor review solely based on this unlike some other people here. Most important to me is that Lori has a large selection of single magic cards from nearly every set and sells them at fair prices and often cheaper than what is offered by online retailers. I have been able to find most of the singles that I have requested here. Also, they have multiple binders on display with uncommons and selected rares that customers are free to browse through. They hold tournaments here regularly as well in a large common area in the back and they are often packed, with winners usually awarded dual lands and other valuable cards from older editions. I like coming to this store and Lori has always been very helpful in finding the cards I am looking for. In my opinion this is the best store to buy magic cards in Los Angeles and I will be coming here often again in the future to ensure that my decks win during my weekly magic nights. read more

Good : I came here to buy singles for magic and found alot. The store is a mess but own has most on the computer to know what she has. Okey : This is a gaming store like most say and on the outside it is small and inside it is a mess. The warhammer and others are Retail (this is a retail store). So most of the retail stuff are fair price for retail but you will find alot of stuff other stores dont have here. BAD : They have a good setup for touraments and on those days it does get a little buzy. So cant really come to buy.
