    Knight Ware from the street.

Classic game store just off of the Universal stop on the Red Line train. Minimal chess supplies, but many other games and figurines for sale.

Definitely recommend stopping by for the great selection of game and hobby stuff but it's very messy and cluttered.

Went in for Pokemon singles. They have a system where you search cards on a tablet that has pricing…read moreand condition. They were adamant that you use the system to even take a look at cards. There were a couple employees available and I asked to see a couple cards but they insisted I type it into the system, select all the cards I'm interested in, then select check out, and THEN an employee would gather the cards for me to view. The first couple of cards I tried to type in were not found in the system but were in the display case. The employee suggested I type the card number (e.g. 2/108) and that did not work either. Finally I found a card I liked in the system but when I looked up that particular card, it appeared to have 2 versions, both near mint but different prices. When asked about the difference in prices, the person behind the counter took 10 minutes to research the cards and change the prices to even higher than originally listed - stating there was only 1 version of the card and they were mislabeled in the system. At this point, he finally showed me the cards and they were objectively not near mint. I wanted to get a closer look to see how played they were but they would not let me see the card outside the sleeve even when I requested that they take it out themselves if they were scared I would damage the card. He then again took the time to inspect the cards himself and correct the listed condition of the cards in their system while he had me wait. I asked if they would honor the original listed price from when I walked in but they said no. With that, and my not being able to make my own, closer inspection on the condition, I ended up not buying anything since I had no baseline to go off to see if it was worth buying for myself. Even without making a purchase, it was an awkward, uncomfortable shopping experience. The sealed product was comparatively much higher than the current market prices. There is a decent selection of singles but their tablet system was misleading and inconsistent. The selections were not good enough to entice me to come back. Be careful in your own price checking when coming to this place.

I just did not make the time to go back until they moved from their location on Magnolia. I am not sure what happened, but this was my most recent experience: I called because I was looking for cute sleeves for a 100 card Magic deck I am building for my girlfriend. I asked if they had sleeves with girly and cute graphics, like flowers, happy designs, cute animals, or even Bloomburrow themed sleeves. The person I spoke to was not very helpful. They kept asking what I meant by cute, giving examples like dragons and goblins, despite me trying to explain the kind of designs I was looking for. Eventually they said they had pink and yellow sleeves and told me to come in. I went in later that day but could not find any sleeves with cute graphics. There were some empty hooks that looked like they may have been intended for sleeves, so maybe they had sold out or had not restocked yet. Either way, I could not find what I was looking for. I asked the staff at the register, and they told me that everything on the floor was all they had. I looked around again, but still found nothing. After that, I asked about Magic: The Gathering Commander nights. I am fairly new to Magic and am trying to get my girlfriend into it, so I asked whether they had Commander nights and whether they teach new players or have a designated table for beginners. The person at the front desk looked confused and said, "...you want me to teach you Magic?" I clarified that I was asking whether they had Commander nights and if someone there helped new players. They simply said, "No, no we do not." I respectfully thanked them and was about to leave when I noticed their calendar said "Thursday Night Commander." There were no prices listed, so I checked the Magic website when I got home and found that they charge $8 for Commander nights. I was surprised by this, especially considering that you are essentially paying to play 1-2 games of Magic with strangers over 3-4 hours. Their prices on booster packs also seemed considerably higher than nearby stores. I strongly recommend doing some research on MSRP before buying packs or products here. I am new to Magic, but I have played Pokemon and Lorcana, so I have a general idea of what packs normally cost. This time, I saw prices that were 2 to 3 times MSRP. I do not remember seeing prices like that when I previously visited their Magnolia location, where I bought Pokemon and Lorcana packs and board games. I understand they are running a business and need to make money, and I am not asking them to give anything away for free. But 2 to 3 times MSRP seems excessive, especially for a store that has been a staple in Burbank for years and has such a supportive community. Maybe they need to find a different distributor, or maybe their own costs have increased. Magic has also become extremely popular, so perhaps that is contributing. Either way, I think customers should be aware of the prices and compare with other stores before purchasing. I am not saying nobody should shop here, and obviously nobody is forcing me to buy anything. I just enjoy collecting and playing these games and try to stay within a budget, so I would prefer to pay as close to MSRP as possible. There are plenty of other options, and I think it is worth doing some research before making a purchase. Maybe things have changed since they moved. Maybe I happened to speak with someone on their first day, or someone was simply having a bad day. I do not know. I just hope that if I come back in the future, the staff are a little more knowledgeable and patient, because I left this experience feeling pretty let down and frustrated. If I do return and have a more positive experience, I will absolutely update this review. Thank you.

We absolutely love this store…read more Anytime we're at the mall we always make sure that we stop in. We're a big board game and puzzle family and this is the best store for both of those things in the San Fernando Valley that I'm aware of. It is located inside the mall so be aware of that. They have a good selection of games, they have a really excellent selection of puzzles. I'm sure this is driven by what sells for them but they have way too many Funko pop figures for me. That's not my thing, and it takes up a lot of space in the store. But I'm sure they sell a lot of them. They also have some great toys, although not a great selection of them. Everyone here who works here is friendly and helpful. We've never had any issues there. I will say their recommendations are not always great. The main thing that does bring this store down a little bit is just how expensive some of the things can be. It's pretty often that you can find the same item for less money on Amazon. I know that makes me sound heartless, and I love supporting shops like this, but sometimes the price difference is very considerable. But overall it's a great store, definitely check it out.

We didn't know the family or child well, only that he was turning four and has an older brother. I purposely wanted to shop local and support an independent business, and a quick search on Yelp led me here. We arrived about an hour before closing on Saturday, which was great because parking meters end at 4pm and we found parking out front easily. We were greeted by an employee behind the desk as we walked in. She asked if there was anything she could help us find, and I let her know we were first time customers looking for a birthday gift with the details mentioned above. She let us know the layout of the store, her suggestions, but let us look freely. Over time more customers arrived with small children, and received the same courteous service. The store is clean and curated. I appreciated seeing well made toys and items inspiring imaginative play, rather than cheap plastic with distracting lights or sounds. I eventually chose a doctor play set as well as some items for my own children, such as animal figures and stamp markers. They offer free gift wrapping, which is a nice touch. The one alarming fact that stood out is that there were many empty storefronts on their block, so it's more important than ever to support our local economy. Their prices reflect investment in well made items, so I would not come here expecting big box store deals. In a world full of Target and Amazon, I would rather spend my money supporting a local, independent business. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back with our kids this holiday season.
