Horrible company! Was great 10 years ago and totally fell off. Smh - I loved Free People but the inventory has declined, so has the quality on certain items that are highly priced and the shipping of all is DEBILITATING! Several times I've paid for overnight shipping and FP still takes a wee to get my items to me by switching delivery companies and. Or getting the package to them on time. I ordered clothes overnight to wear o it of country, of course FP did not get them to me in time . It's been 4 days and I'm being told my items won't arrive for another 3 days and was just shipped yesterday ! And I leave out of town the day after tomorrow . Thanks for taking my money and inconveniencing me . Free People is no longer my favorite store due to mainly the poor quality of service with shipping and the lack of cute inventory. I do love this location. My only issue is that they don't always have Large sizes in stock, sometimes it sucks seeing something cute and they don't often have my size. The employees here are amazing ! They are around when you need them and they give you space to look. I noticed some reviewers have complained about returns, I did see a woman making a return today and they didn't have any issues helping her so I hope whatever issues this location was having have been resolved. This location is super close to me so I really wanna see it thrive and stay open! Side note one other issue is that the dress I bought today, obviously it's brand new and the little free people emblem inside that's supposed to be sewn on is dangling and ready to fall off already. This is one of my favorite brands but most of the time their styles are too big for me. Well, not today! *Not sure if that was a good or a bad thing?! Lol. This Studio City store is my fav. It's beautifully laid out and the employees are very friendly. Friday I had some time to kill so I decided to check out the latest styles for Fall. Loved so many things but stopped myself from going crazy. Found a pair of adorable jeans that surprisingly fit me!!!! Yay! And a couple of stretchy tops. Shazia, was my girl. She helped me with my finds and checked me out at the register. We had a lovely conversation and she made my day!!!! The prices vary depending on the style. Worth exploring you never know what you may find. This Studio City store is wonderfully unique! The family like atmosphere created by management and the entire staff of women that work in the store, is exceptional. They meet and greet, remembering the names and faces of their customers and offer considerate help without unnecessary hovering. This was obviously NOT done on accident. This was done intentionally and with the obvious purpose of theft and demeanor and is fraudulent. I was looking at a new color of my favorite pants when the store manager Niree asked if I wanted to try them on. I said "I'm just looking at the color and besides I don't see my size". "Oh we have all sizes in the back", she said. "Great!", I replied, "I'm an extra large!" She then immediately says "No you're not...you're a large. I'll put a large in the dressing room for you". All I could come up with to say was..."Why?" To which she insisted "Because! You are a large!". Really? Oh no! I got a Christmas present from Free People. I don't shop at their stores, prices are a tad high, but I passed many times by this location so I came here for my return. Not a good experience. Customer service was flat out poor! No other customers in the store, many ladies working here but they prefer to hang with each other than help a customer! My first-ever Yelp review is brought to you by the appalling customer service at the Free People on Ventura: I went to Free People this evening to make a return. As soon as I walked in the door, I was alone. I waited a solid 2 minutes in an empty shop as I waited for a store associate. Eventually, two ladies walked out together from the dressing room area. I got a very strange vibe from them, like they were annoyed that I was there and were also giving me fake smiles and pleasantry. Once I was able to tell them that I was making a return, they asked me if it was from online or in-store. I told them it was from an in-store purchase and gave them my receipt, and they told me that they JUST got new scanners and it probably wouldn't scan my receipt from last month. (FYI I am well within the 30 day return window, so it wasn't a store policy issue.) They fake scanned my receipt in front of me, and told me that I'd unfortunately have to go to another location to make the return and thanked me for understanding as I left. It was strange, BUT LET ME TELL YOU -- I went to a second Free People and saw THE SAME scanners at the register. I asked the sales associates if these were "the new" scanners, telling them that I was just sent over from the Studio City store because they couldn't scan my receipt. The two ladies at this location were incredibly helpful and compassionate, apologizing for the experience that I had and explaining that it's against store policy for Free People to refuse returns and that the scanners do, in fact, work and that I shouldn't have been sent away to drive all the way to another store. I feel absolutely livid that Free People in Studio City lied to my face. Judging from many previous Yelp reviews on here, this has been a long-standing pattern at this location, providing crappy customer service and turning people away. I didn't get the names of the two girls with the attitude, but one was beach blonde, blue-eyed, wearing bright red lipstick and cowboy boots. The other particularly snarky one had a very thin frame, brown eyes, and a curly brunette shag haircut. The funny thing about this review is I actually went to Free People twice in one day last Sunday. The first time, I lightly browsed and found the sold out vans sneakers I've been looking for over the last couple of months. They didn't have my size in stock but a nice salesperson named Sav let me know they could order them on express shipping - my first win of the day! Then, I returned in the afternoon seeking a boho chic wedding outfit. This is where FP really earned a 5-star review. I was immediately supported in this endeavor by master stylist, Brooke, who picked out an assortment of options until we found what I'm deeming the ideal wedding date outfit (including shoes in my size). While I had Brooke's attention, she assisted me in finding several amazing other outfits that I completely fell in love with. Once I get a few more paychecks, I will certainly be back as there is a great team at Studio City Free People. Thank you Brooke and Sav for all of the help. I love FP and have always had a good experience at this store, but today two of the women went above and beyond. I didn't get their names, but I was in today July 26, 2024 around 11:15a ish- one woman had an adorable snag haircut, brown, shoulder length which looks great on her, and another had long blonde hair and big blue eyes like little swimming pools. I wasn't feeling well and they went beyond their job description to help me and it really meant so much that they would bell me like that. It's great to see FP hiring kind and strong women that support other women. I wish I got their names but I want FP and them to know how wonderful I think they are and truly, truly grateful for their assist! This is why this is the only FP I actually physically go into. First off let me say I love their clothes but I just recently purchased a pair of jeans online. The shipper was 20 miles from my house and the next day it was out of state. I called and was on hold for over 45 minutes waiting for someone to pickup...Nada. Then the next day I tried the texting/ chat thing after multiple ChatBots I finally got a real person, I think? Another 45 minutes of texting back and forth. They said they would reship and I had to wait 72 hours to get an email confirmation, Nada. Called back on hold for another 45 minutes, Nada. Tried ChatBot again finally got a real person, I said I was done waiting and just wanted a refund. Again I was told to wait 72 hours for a confirmation email. Unacceptable. read more

Really great service here! I've been shopping here for years now and had to update this review after my recent NYE experience. It made me remember the amazing sale they always have the last few days of the year. I always find so many cute items at ridiculously incredible prices and they are always very kind about adjustments if I've just purchased something a couple days prior that then goes onto a deeper discount. I'm so grateful I was in town this year, last year I was out of the country and completely forgot I missed the sale until this year when it dawned on me I always swing in the last couple days of the year if I'm in town and find the greatest bargains. This year I picked up a super cute really vibrant velvet backless dress, the cutest intricate velvet pants and a really cute skirt - all at a ridiculous fraction of the price these pieces would have originally been, like $400 off! In years past I've snagged amazing pants, jackets and more all at fabulous prices. The girls are also the sweetest here and on nye one really sweet one at the register did me a real solid by adjusting the price of the dress I'd purchased days prior before it had gone on an even deeper discount. They are always really good about this, at all of their locations (at least here and Sherman Oaks). I'd highly recommend this location, especially when the deals are going. Great stock of items and really loving that they have some new pieces that resemble the Love Shack Fancy line (that I now am obsessed with!) at a much more affordable price point. Cute cute cute, not sure on sizing - I'm rather petite so perhaps I luck out with the sale pieces in my size but I tend to need to pay to tailor pants so it evens out a bit. I purchased clothes at this location and didn't like how everything I brought for me so I went in today , the same location I purchased from to return and was told that they couldn't do my return because they have a trouble shoot issue on their system ( which is a lie) so I had to drive all the way to the Sherman oaks location to do it there and they told me that that's not a thing within their store or company and that they were lying to prevent being hit with returns. I recently had an awful experience at the studio city free people store. I was shocked at the audacity of the employees for their rudeness, deception, and their unwillingness to assist me. I attempted to make 2 returns today, and as soon as I went up to the counter, the employees were dismissive and rude. For both returns, I had my receipts and approached them kindly. The first woman immediately told me that they do not accept returns from purchases made at other free people stores. That is not true per free people's return policy.  When another employee came up to help with the second return, she told me that their internet wasn't working, meanwhile there was a person next to me making a purchase at the exact same time. The employee told me I could try another free people store instead, and didn't even help me put the clothes back in my bag. I finally called them out and asked if they were doing this because they didn't want to take the numbers hit on the sales, but of course they denied the accusation.  After raising these issues to customer service, I learned that my experience at the studio city location is not uncommon. If the employees are going to lie and inconvenience multiple customers on a daily basis, find a better way to do it. read more

I normally don't leave bad reviews unless the service is exceptionally awful. I came into this store several days ago to exchange a jacket I bought at the Sherman Oaks location, because I couldn't pair the color with anything I had at home, and the sleeves were coming up about two inches when I put my arm up. The male employee, I believe he is a manager was ok about exchanging it out without the tag attached because I still had tag/receipt. I took the "new" jacket back after I realized I still wouldn't be happy with a different color or the size and didnt want to waste $216 on a jacket I would never feel comfortable wearing. The second time around the male employee gave me a difficult time because he said it was not in their policy to return items without the tag attached, and said I could receive store credit. I didn't want store credit, and I didn't know their policy was exchange only if tags aren't attached, but I had the tags and it was still in the same condition. I ended up calling the Sherman Oaks store, and they told me they'd make an exception and return it for me, but when I got there, the manager didnt even touch or come close to my jacket, she just told me she talked to this location and wouldn't return it cause it smelled like smoke. Wtf? I've had several people who dont smoke smell my jacket, and they said it doesn't smell of anything! I suggest management, and I mean upper management, learn how to train your managers how to treat customers. This guy was very rude and made me feel like a scum. The staff there is absolutely amazing! Right as I walked in this nice person named Sydney greeted me and helped find the perfect outfit. She was super helpful and friendly. She made my shopping experience an ease and I look forward to shopping there again soon. While the clothing is a bit expensive it is worth it! I had to return 3 items on a receipt where I bought 10. I was refused service because I'm a costume designer. You realize that we are also paying customers, right?! Fully paying! No discounts! I was told to go back to Sherman oaks where I purchased the items. Very unfriendly and passive aggressive. Sherman oaks branch though friendly, didn't tell me that returns had to go back to them. I'm working today and have to rush to set in Palmdale for a fitting. Terrible customer service! I pretty much outfitted the women on The Walking Dead from Free People. This store has the best employees! Came in after finding a kimono online that I wanted. The kimono was sold out online but this store was listed as having it. I called to make sure and they confirmed and put it on hold for me. I arrived at the store to find that unfortunately, they had put the wrong color on hold and actually did not have the correct color. This is where the manager came in to help, he checked to see what other stores had the item and called about 5 stores until he found one who actually had the item in stock. He then proceeded to have them do a sale over the phone and waved the overnight shipping fee so that I would have it in time for my upcoming trip! I cannot thank him & his staff enough! My kimono arrived the next day. The store itself is decent size, has a great sale section, convenient parking around back (with a back entrance), and always seems to be well-stocked. read more

I am shocked to be reading all of the poor reviews for this location. Many of the negative reviews were regarding returns for clothing without the tags or receipts, which is ridiculous because no other store would accept returns for items without those things either, so you might as well disregard those reviews. I am a regular at this location, and every single time I go the staff is extremely helpful and always friendly. They are always quick to greet me and go out of their way to make sure I am finding everything I need. If I can't find something at this location, they immediately check to see if it is available at a different location, and then call the store to put it on hold for me. I know this is standard, but in most retail stores, this request seems like the most annoying thing for the employees, but not at the this Free People location. This location is also quick to offer you a fitting room while you continue shopping, which I love because carrying an armful of clothing can get annoying after awhile. Today I went in looking for a pair of jeans, and when I saw that they didn't have my size, so I grabbed the smaller size, just to see if they would work, and one of the employees went to go look for the jeans in my size. After trying the jeans on, they ended up working out. After paying, I ran into the girl who had helped me, and she said she went to look for me to let me know they were out of my size, and when I told her the other size had worked, she was genuinely happy. I also make going to the Studio City location my first choice because I have been to the location in the Sherman Oaks mall, and the staff there never greets you when you walk in, they ignore you the entire time, and you need to approach the staff if you have any questions or need a fitting room. They're also talking the entire time you're there, and any question seems to be a bother. As I said, the Studio City Free People is the best, the staff is welcoming and the atmosphere is amazing. read more

Love the decor and the workers were nice ...but I'm beyond annoyed ....I went in because I didn't want to wait for an online order ....but I just got home and they left the sensor on my bag so I have to now find time / make time to make another trip there to get it removed. I should have just waited and ordered online. That's what I get for being over excited and wanting it now! So frustrating/ disappointing/annoying. The clothes are outrageously priced, but I feel like you know that going in. The best part of this store is the customer service. They give you attention and cater to what you're looking for. Since this store is in Studio City, sometimes the clientele can be...difficult. I've witnessed a woman throw a tantrum because they didn't have her size in the store. Love their boho/alternative clothes so much that I'm getting married in one of their dresses :D I've made a few friends from this store but gotta admit some ARE kind of snobby (don't want to mention any names) but I guess that's how girl world is, no matter how old you are! Kinda sucks cus it's a business they should be more professional rather than be judgmental about the types of people that walk in the store right? Shout out to Genesis who was extremely helpful and friendly. I ended up in this FP store as the gals in the Gelndale store where not overly helpful and made me feel like I was taking up there time. I thought the Free People in Topanga Mall was small! This store is smaller as far as selection. Very limited with their jewelry and denim. I was disappointed and surprised there was no white denim in any cut. I'll only come back here when I visit Urban Outfitters to see if there are any sales as their prices are steep.
