And if you're expecting the employees to ask you "come here often?" before motioning the barkeep to bring you another of whatever you're having, then still, NO. Or maybe yes. Just not with me. Pffft. The clothes are definitely fun and flirty, though -- if you wear them. Flirt is the typical Melrose kitsch store -- one-offs and private labels abound. Not too many jean choices (mostly charcoal gray), and not that many T-shirts, but the ones they have will have you going gaga, lady. What's a boy like me doing reviewing an exclusively girl's store? Well, I have no intention of wearing that off-the-shoulder blouse or sundress (hmm... with the right belt and handbag, I -- nevermind), but the store is definitely a pleasant place, even if you're just waiting on girls to finish trying things on. You can stand there awkwardly listening to the early 1990s era boombox that's pumping out KISS FM all day (Lil Wayne seems determined to make me his fan), or check yourself out in the mirrors on the wall. "Oh you are quite the looker, aren't you..." Anyway, speaking of incredible, psychologically unhealthy narcissism (or not, whatever), the pink-curtained dressing rooms have matching pink folding chairs -- everything in the store has either touches or tons of pink, which sounds like a Hello Kitty nightmare but is actually kind of cute in a flamingo-pecked-my-eyes-out way. When you try things on, it's with a soft background of Pepto Bismo, but it does make that hotgasmic pair of koolats stand out in palatial, plaid glory. Sweet Heavens, but you're beautiful. Now close your curtain -- that weird tattoo guy with his tattooier girlfriend can see your thong. Hey, the stuff you're trying on is on sale, too! At least a fourth of the store is half off, so you'll have more money left over to blow on things like shoes, handbags, and rent. Service is fast, friendly, and helpful -- they'll make useful suggestions that aren't lame attempts at plus-selling. Flirt Clothing does lose one star because they forgot to remove a security tag on a $240 hobo bag. Now I'm going to have to come back tomorrow -- with receipt -- to have them remove it because SOMEBODY'S too busy (*cough* gainfully employed) to do so herself. I'm going to play like it's mine. It looks cuter on me anyway :-)

I bought a beautiful purple scarf with brown leopard spots on it the other day. The material was like that of a soft sweater. It was only $19.00. I could've gotten a better deal on it if I bargained with the lady there, but I didn't since the price was already low. Also, she was nice and showed me how to tie it since I wasn't sure how to wear it. I always leave scarves untied up until now. She showed me and it was easier than it I thought it would be. I really appreciated that. Also, it was great that she could actually break a $100.00 bill. Some places can't. If you're not familair with the area, you might not know that due to lots of competition, sometimes the shop owner or manager will give you a discount on clothes and other items if you ask them for one. Sometimes they are so eager to sell, they just offer you a good deal. I didn't want to appear cheap though, so I didn't bother asking. It was also nice that she didn't bug me or follow me around like a lot of the shop employees tend to do sometimes. This is a great place and I'll come back here next time I'm in LA.

Make sure you either have enough coins or have a credit card on hand to pay for the meters. The man and his wife (the owner) greeted me warmly and asked how I found their shop. (I told them through Yelp.) They specialize in carrying vintage clothing from the 1950s onward since it is difficult to find anything older that is in good, wearable condition. Most of the vintage they carry is designer vintage. Sielian has a great eye and after meeting me in her shop, she began making suggestions and pulling them from racks for me to try on. One was a dress reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn that Dianna Agron had tried on last time which was a bit expensive for my budget so I had to pass on it. But she pulled this 1980s Chloe dress with a drop back that I fell in love with. At first, I left it there to think about it. A few days later I called her back about the piece which was till there. Because it was a flattering and elegant piece that I really wanted to wear, Mom helped me negotiate a little lower price. They have an impressive amount of clothes at various price points and styles but don't be surprised if some of the pieces seem a bit high priced. I will most likely be back for more.

We were a bit concerned about how easily it marked but decided just to be super careful with it as it looked so nice. However, shortly before the wedding it was necessary to iron the dress. We followed the instructions to the letter. After doing so, the dress was marked to the point of being unwearable. We contacted customer services who were not only slow to respond but "scientifically" deemed from a photograph that we were at fault in the way we had ironed the fabric. Case closed. No refund. For an incredibly expensive dress. You'll get something much better quality from a much cheaper shop. No matter how tempting- don't bother. So disappointed.

My main issue with Marina Rinaldi is absolutely HORRIBLE online sales, I ordered on May 4, by May 16 I had absolutely no communication from the company on the status of my order when they say that they usually ship within 5 business days of online order, their East Coast customer service has no idea what the status of orders are, slow to ship, no ability to call their warehouse (?!), no online web sales supervisors around - ever, no communication with customers when items are back-ordered, don't bother buying from them as they are great at marketing and TERRIBLE at order fulfillment. It must also be terrible for the stores as they cannot find additional sizes to help their customers. I will not bother trying to buy this brand in future. They need to up their game in terms of visibility in the supply chain to match Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's and Amazon. If I want to spend over $1400 for 4 items, I expect to hear back on order status within 12 days. If they gave me information that the items will not be available or are backordered and should be available by X date, that is fine and I can make my decision to continue to wait or cancel the order. This kind of customer service is completely unacceptable these days.
